Who would be the audience of
your media product?
Audience research graphs
I created my target audience from primary research I conducted through
handing out questionnaires and receiving feedback, which lead me to my
decision of who my audience would be.
I believe that the target audience for my magazine would be 16- 25 year olds,
both male and female who are particularly interested in music and reading
about music, rather than gossip. Their preferred music taste would be
Alternative, more specifically the sub genre of indie rock.
I found it relatively easy to appeal to my audience as I am a fan of the music
genre so I found including artist names and trying to make it appeal to a fan
quite easy as I could apply my personal taste. However, trying to
accommodate to both females and males was quite difficult as I did not want
my female model to be in a provocative pose to appeal to men as I felt it
would look too glamorous rather than musical.
In the process of making my product I change aspects to my target audience
as originally I aimed my magazine to both younger and older readers, yet I
found it hard to please older readers, who are more intelligible and
sophisticated, therefore I aimed just at teenagers to young adults.

Who would be the audience of your media product

  • 1. Who would be the audience of your media product?
  • 3. I created my target audience from primary research I conducted through handing out questionnaires and receiving feedback, which lead me to my decision of who my audience would be. I believe that the target audience for my magazine would be 16- 25 year olds, both male and female who are particularly interested in music and reading about music, rather than gossip. Their preferred music taste would be Alternative, more specifically the sub genre of indie rock. I found it relatively easy to appeal to my audience as I am a fan of the music genre so I found including artist names and trying to make it appeal to a fan quite easy as I could apply my personal taste. However, trying to accommodate to both females and males was quite difficult as I did not want my female model to be in a provocative pose to appeal to men as I felt it would look too glamorous rather than musical. In the process of making my product I change aspects to my target audience as originally I aimed my magazine to both younger and older readers, yet I found it hard to please older readers, who are more intelligible and sophisticated, therefore I aimed just at teenagers to young adults.
