WHO WOULD BE THE
AUDIENCE FOR YOUR
 MEDIA PRODUCT?
My audience is generally going to be a female aged between 17 and 30. She will be
a strong women that presents herself well. She will be middle/upper-class and
have a keen interest in both fashion and pop music. By looking through UK
Tribes I have found that my audience would be a cross between Rahs and
Trendies. This is because they will focus heavily on their looks and make sure that
they follow fashion avidly. They would have a mixture of vintage Designer and
high-street clothing to ensure that they are on trend. They will subscribe to
magazine such as Vogue and Glamour to ensure that they are up to date with
fashion and big celebrities. This means that my magazine will apply to them
perfectly.
• They will watch television shows like Sex And The City as it’s main characters
represent the kind of women that they aspire to be.
• They will shop at places like Chanel, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen,
Christian Louboutin, ect.
• They will eat a quick lunch at Starbucks or a regular lunch at a respectable
restaurant.
• They will have a big interest in strong successful women and respect those that
are, because of this the Queens and Princess’ of pop will be their main choice of
music.
The type of advertising for my magazine will be both that of high end
designer labels and perfumes and music and perfumes by artists. It may
also attract some advertising for Men’s aftershaves and/or underwear.
The beauty business would also be a big part of advertising as the
women care a lot about their appearance.
I did research using survey monkey and a tick box hand-out. I found that
using the tick box hand out meant that I could ask people randomly who
looked like the audience that I was targeting this gave better results as I
had to settle for people that I know who may not be specifically in the
niche that I was going for. I found that a high interest in fashion was
apparent from the people that would read a pop music magazine.
Every person that I asked said that they spend money on clothes because
of this my advertising relates to clothes and my magazine has a fashion
section. The people in my magazine were also up to date with fashion so
reflected my magazine as being fashionable.
