Question 2: How does your media
product represent particular social
             groups?
If my music magazine were to represent
a particular social group I think it would
be aimed at teenagers in their later
years, mainly aimed at teenage females,
however it could appeal to males, as my
front cover expresses that there is
columns including festivals and music,
which would appear to both females and
males. The model I have used for my
magazine is 18 years old, and so that is
why I think females this age would buy
this magazine. My model is wearing her
own clothes although when I was
researching I came across a style that I
like and one that inspired me.
I went for a similar look for my front
cover image, as I know teenage girls are
into fashion, jewellery and make-up. I
think these three images represent
teenage girls in the 21st century.
All of the images I have used for my
magazine show a serious and
sophisticated look, which is what I was
going for. It is mainly the image I have
used for my contents page show the
sophistication in my model. The choice
of clothes portrayed in the images
show and represent teenagers girls
now. When I was planning my
magazine I did not want to go for a
cheesy, pop star look or a magazine
that relates to that.

                      From the magazine from the
right, you can see that this
                      represents younger children and
                      what they would purchase in
shops. I found it easier as I am
18 myself to focus on what
teenagers that age prefer as I
felt I would be able to relate to
                      them more.
I am aware that not all teenage girls are passionate about
fashion, however from my point of you and the people I
know the majority of them are. This inspired me even more
because I knew it would be easier for me to relate to teenage
girls in the 21st century, rather than younger girls.

I have tried to make my magazine
appeal to both genders. I have
  done this by including music
  festivals and the most popular
  songs of 2012. Everyone enjoys
music even if it is of a different
genre to other people. I am aware
of this and so although I have
mentioned ‘V Festival’ line up, this
  could attract anyone who would
want to find out more. I have also
  mentioned UK tours, which again
  could be any pop star/band
  performing.
