This document provides an overview of the four papers that make up the IGCSE Mandarin Chinese exam:
1) Listening (35 minutes): Section 1 tests short recordings and visuals, Section 2 tests factual information, Section 3 has 5 marks for Chinese answers.
2) Reading (1 hour 15 minutes): Tests reading comprehension, answers must be in Chinese characters.
3) Speaking (15 minutes): Consists of role plays, a topic presentation/conversation, and a general conversation. Candidates choose their own topic.
4) Writing (1 hour 15 minutes): Section 1 tests single words and a directed task, Section 2 offers a choice of email/letter, article, or narrative to complete
