Finding The Savings Projects For Young People s Current...
Background Introduction This article aims to discover the savings projects that best appeal to
young people in current economic environment. UN (2015) declares that the worldwide labour
market circumstances persist challenging and the general situation is further complicated. In
Europe, tension situation of Ukraine causes an unfavourable effect on economic recovery activities
and confidences, which makes the reconstruction of euro region remain risky and unstable. On the
other hand, employment rate decreased sharply after the financial crisis and job creation is
extremely insufficient. Moreover, youth unemployment rates keep relatively high in European
countries, such as, 53% in Spain, 44% in Italy and 35% in Portugal (World Economic... Show more

According to Berry (2011) s report, the UK government developed the National Employment
Savings Trust (NEST) and automatically enrol workers into pension scheme, which is already
leading some young workers to a long term savings track. Furthermore, Tipper (2014) believes
that Generation Y can resonate with tenable investment approaches if savings sector could build
user reliance in investing by adopting auto enrolment programme. Networking This research
proposal uses Delphi technique to refine the research topic area. It is about forming a group of
individuals who are related to or concerned about the research area to develop a more particular
research idea (Saunders et al., 2006). I explained to three relevant course lecturers that my
research idea was involved with helping young people use financial products to save and plan
for their future. And we generated a few specific ideas, such as: the economic aspects that
required young people to start saving; the features that young people look for in savings projects;
roles of governments and savings sector in developing preferable savings projects. After
discussion, I refined my research idea to: what savings projects best appeal to young people in
current economic climate. Literature Review In recent years, savings in pension is always the
major savings project appeal to

Bipolar Disorder or Manic Depression
Bipolar disorder is also known by many as manic depression. It is a serious mental disorder that
is associated by sever changes in a person s mood, the mood changes range from feeling low and
depressed to being manic, these changes are the typical symptoms of Bipolar disorder. Bipolar
disorder is a mental illness caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, and can be managed
with therapy and medication. The episodes can last for days, hours or can be very short. Bipolar
disorder affects both women and men. There is no known cause, but the symptoms start
between the ages of 15 25, and mainly occur in people who have family members with Bipolar
disorder. Bipolar disorder has been around for a long time .Bipolar disorder can be traced to
earliest recorded history to present day. Thousands of years ago, the Greeks recognized the
vacillation between elation and depression. It wasn t until the end of the 20th century that the
disease was legitimized by congress. Bipolar comes from Julies Falret, in 1854 used the phrase
folie circulaire which means circular insanity (A Brief History paragraph 2). Mr. Falret was the
one who made the connection between suicide, depression and the bouts of mania. He also found
out that Bipolar disorder was common in families and believed it to be genetic. Mr. Falert s
findings were finally accepted as a psychiatric disorder, it was labeled as Manic Depressive
Psychosis about 21 years later. Around the same time people thought that schizophrenia

Amanda Clark Research Paper
Amanda Clark s phone conversation came to an abrupt end when her Chevrolet Trailblazer
rolled three times before landing on its roof. She had run a stop sign and was broadsided by
another driver. Metal caved in around her, but the roof stayed intact and she survived with just
scrapes and bruises (Tracy). Amanda Clark survived her first car accident caused by distracted
driving, but wasn t as lucky the second time. After she started driving again, she pledged to put
her phone away and focus on driving. Clark s Mother, Bonnye Spray, said, I thought this would
be a wakeup call for her, and it was for a short time she wouldn t talk on the phone, she was more
cautious. But she got more confident in her driving and a sense of Hey, I survived one, I m

I didn t even realize what I was doing, until one day Stephanie called me out on it (Henry). The
effects of distracted driving accidents are not always physical. The emotional upset a driver
feels after a car accident can affect them for months or even years after the accident, regardless if
the accident was their fault or not. Although distracted driving is a problem for all drivers, it
specifically is a major problem for teenagers. Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for
American teens. When it comes to distracted driving, young people are the most likely to text
and talk behind the wheel ( Distracted Driving Facts ). In Idaho between the years of 2010 and
2014, the age group 15 19 experienced the most crashes, with the age group 20 24 coming second.
Teenagers also contributed to 10% of fatal car crashes and a little over 15% of serious injury car

The Effects Of Controlled Burns On Rangelands
The Effects of Controlled Burns on Rangelands
Shane J. Methvin
BYU Idaho
Abstract
There are many different techniques or methods used to manage rangelands. These methods have
been implemented to improve the health of a rangeland. One such technique that has been found to
be beneficial is controlled burning. Controlled burning can help improve rangelands for both
livestock and wildlife if managed properly. This is done by burning an area which kills undesirable
woody species, giving desirable, native grass species a chance to bounce back, as they can be
choked out by these competing woody species. Controlled burning can also have negative effects
as well if managed improperly. If controlled burns are managed properly, the overall... Show more

Such was the case in the study conducted by a Texas AgriLife Research Range ecologist
(Ledbetter, 2010). The focus of this study was observing the effects of summer patch fires on the
reduction of unwanted woody plants and prickly pear cacti. In this study, patches were burned
rather than burning pastures as a whole to allow livestock to continue to graze in other areas
simultaneously with the controlled burns. These burns took place in the summer rather than the
winter because, prescribed fire in the summer is more effective in controlling unwanted woody
plants and prickly pear cactus than winter fires because they burn hotter (Ledbetter, 2010). The
results indicated that if controlled burning and rotational grazing are carefully managed, success in
reducing the number of unwanted plants can be achieved (Ledbetter, 2010). Sometimes the public
s opinion about burning rangelands and regulations can influence the ability of landowners and
range managers to perform controlled burns. Many of the grasslands and areas managers wish to
burn have adapted to occasional fires and native grasses can recover quite well, while unwanted
woody species are reduced. Suppression of controlled burns, many times because of the public s
opinion, can lead to an increase in these woody species, competing for nutrients with native grasses.
If controlled burns continue to be suppressed by the public and

Indus River Valley And Nubia Similarities
A Short Comparative Essay of The Indus River Valley and Nubia The Indus River Valley
(Chapter 1) and Nubia (Chapter 2) have some similarities, and quite a few differences. They are
similar in aspects such as agriculture, and trade, while different in things such as culture. Some
similarities and differences are very apparent, while others, not so much. Indus River Valley
agriculture was primarily based on hunting and gathering food, but later on it changed to mainly
farming. They also did things such as domesticate animals. This is very similar to Nubia s
agriculture. They also were hunters, but later changed to primarily farming. Trade in The Indus

for her to express her emotions and how she was doing as a person. In her speech, she speaks
about the community she comes from depression was a weakness. The signs of depression are
lack of interest, eating behaviors change, insomnia. The speaker was alone on stage with some

Costco Key Issues
Key Issues:
At the end of 2012, Costco was a successful business; however there are some issues that they
would need to deal with. These issues mainly arise from their previous successful ventures as a
warehouse wholesale company. The first issue is that Costco has competitors that can actually
be and are a threat to their success. Competition allows a company to improve itself and prove its
prowess to its customers. However, when a competitor is able to provide the service at a much
reduced cost, problems will arise. As for the second issue, it seems that Costco s efforts to become
an international company are moving slowly. They have not reached a point where their US and
Canadian warehouses provide a backbone for their finances. ... Show more content on

Most notably, the increase from 2010 to 2011 was a staggering $9,774 in millions. Compared to
the increase of $5,660 in millions from 2009 to 2010, there is a greater increase in merchandising
costs that Costco should be concerned about (Thompson... 2014). These costs have been accrued
through increasing gas costs for the transportation of goods and the increase in warehouses have
increased preopening costs. Costco has so far been able to keep a net income possible with these
increasing merchandising costs. Although if the net income is compared from 2009 to 2010
and 2010 to 2011, the amount of gain in the net income is decreasing; if left unchecked, this will
become a problem. In 2009 to 2010, there was a gain of $217 million while in 2010 to 2011
there was only a gain of $157 million (Thompson... 2014). This is a smaller gain by $58 million.
While it is still an increase in net income, the resulting costs of running their business have caused
Costco to achieve a smaller profit margin.
Recommendations:
First Recommendation: In regards to key issue 1 and 2, Costco needs to lower its membership fees
in order to attract new customers. Membership fees account for a small portion of their total
revenue but membership numbers are how Costco makes its profits. In 2011, membership fees only
accounted for 2.11% of Costco s total revenue (Thompson... 2014). Lowering the annual business
membership fee from $55 down to $45 would allow more people in the

Accelerated US History
Accelerated US History I
In the Presidential Election of 1824, Andrew Jackson the people s choice lost the ballot by way of
a corrupt bargain in the House of Representatives. Four years later and with the backing of a larger
political following, Jackson became president, campaigning to the middle class and offering the
opportunities of a benevolent democracy. Jackson s supporters, the Jacksonians, were as diverse as
they were numerous; northern farmers, southern and western yeomen, and even urban immigrants
all joined the ranks of the Champion of the Common Man (OI). During Andrew Jackson s two
terms, the state of Jacksonian Democracy that took form upheld the principles of equality and
majority rule that bound the United States together politically, economically and socially. During
the 1820s and 1830s, Jacksonians served as guardians of the Constitution and equality of economic
opportunity, and functioned as a catalyst for popular sovereignty, but sacrificed some individual
liberties to advance the political democracy in the union. As President, Andrew Jackson strictly
adhered to the guidelines set in the Constitution to uphold the union. In 1830, Andrew Jackson
vetoed the bill, passed in Congress, which pushed for a federally funded road system to be
developed in Kentucky (OI). To defend this denial, Jackson abided by the Constitution s declaration
that intra state internal improvements are to be funded by the states, not the federal government.

La Booheme And Rent
Musical theatre has been a form of art and entertainment for hundreds of years. The early
example of opera plays is Dofene, performed in 1597. La boheme was written and composed by
Giacomo Puccini. The play is based in a french play ScГ©nes de la vie de bolГ©me by Henri
Murger published in 1851. The world premiere was in Turin, Italy in 1896. This was close to the
end of the 19th century where the theatrewas turning from romanticism more into the genre of
social realism. In contrast, Rent was written in 1996 which was close to the end of 20th century.
During this one century, many things were acceptable by the society that were not acceptable
during the time of La boheme. Rent demonstrates the things that would normally not be performed
in a theatre. In other words, the movie provokes some audience. This essay is going to explain how
interconnected audience and the theatre is and how they affect each other.

Both La boheme and Rent shows a story of lives of common people who are poor and need to
pay rent to the landlord. Unlike common opera, La boheme shows the mixture of romanticism
and social realism. Each genre have their own function and purpose. Romanticism shows the
only good sides of the world while social realism shows the issues common people are facing
daily. When the audience goes watch a romanticist play, they expect to feel happy and away from
the real woeld. As opposed to, the audience would expect social issues and things that might
provoke them from a social realism play. As the plays have a time difference of a hundred years,
they affect the audience differently and as the norms of society change, the boundaries change too.

Theme Of Oedipus Complex By Paul Morel
Since the day of publication, it has been a tendency to approach Sons and Lovers
(1913)primarily as the story of a victim of Oedipus Complex . The hero, Paul Morel, is very
often looked upon, as the title suggests, merely as a son; not as a normal human being. Whatever
problems crop up in the life of Paul Morel has been addressed as the reason of his mother fixation
. Whenever someone strives to examine the character or personae of Paul Morel, the Oedipus
complex looms large and everything else, if there is any, fades away. Because of this one
dimensional attitude, it is scarcely kept in mind that Paul Morel, besides his mother fixation , does

Overview
When the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) of Singapore came under the scrutiny of the nation
back in the July of 2005, it was evident that there was going to be major changes in the local social
welfare scene.
As a non profit charitable organisation, the main aim of NKF was not only to look after the needs
of its patients but encompassed drawing resources from society and moving towards changing and
improving society as a whole.
In this report, we focus on the issues that the top management faced and how this entire saga has

NKF s management might seem to not have taken donors opinions into consideration and hence
portrayed the image of mismanaging donations. However, it would be unfair to not point out how
not all stakeholders are equal and each is entitled to different considerations. Expectations differ
across stakeholders and decisions made would more often than not lead to a conflict of interest but
following the principle of utilitarianism, it is up to the discretion of the organisation to balance their
decisions and decide how best to appease the majority. An example would be NKF s dilemma of
whether to disclose the salary of the CEO; not doing so would result in accusations of not being
transparent while disclosing it might lead to criticism of charity leaders being too highly paid. The
interests of the CEO and the donors are at conflict.
Alternative Theoretical Perspectives
Having received the National Youth Excellence Award in 1976 and practiced as a lawyer for 6
years2, Durai could be seen as a leader with strong self efficacy and self esteem. He valued new
challenges more than conformity and challenged society s perspective of managing a charity. His
refreshing approaches to branding and fund raising led to staff costs incurred by the many fund
raising activities to be higher than that of staff cost for dialysis treatment, which was not on the
same page as what external stakeholders (donors and society) would expect from a charity.

Comparing The Gospel Of Mark And Matthew
In regard to teaching style, the extent to which Jesus teaches by authority varies in the Gospel of
Mark and Matthew. Jesus teaching style in Matthew is overall more authoritative. Both Mark and
Matthew tell that Jesus taught as one having authority, and not as their scribes (Matthew 7: 28 29,
Mark 1: 22). In the Gospel of Matthew, the authoritative phrase But I say to you appears 12 times
in the Sermon on the Mount. However, such a repetitive and declarative phrase is not commonly
seen in Mark.
Other than the extent to which Jesus taught by authority, a common feature of Jesus teaching style
in both Mark and Matthew is his use of repetition. In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus speaks of imminent
tortures and resurrection over and over

Misperception and Deception in Twelfth Night
Twelfth Night is likely one of Shakespeare s most entertaining and complete comedy. This romance
explores a generous wealth of themes and issues. The most recurrent theme is the relationship
between misperception and deception. As a result of their environment and immediate
circumstances, men are forced into misperceptions. Paradoxically, they are completely trapped by
these illusions. Between the bad fortune they encounter and the bad fortune they themselves
generate, they become caught between a rock and a hard place; they are victims of deceit as well
as their own folly.
The relationship between misperception and deception has numerous effects: it gives way to ...

Of course, in reality, Viola and Sebastian were being confused. The main plot of Twelfth Night
revolves around the cause of such confusion resulting in disillusioned and self deceived characters.
The main plot of the play involves twins of the opposite sex who are separated during a tragic
shipwreck, each believing the other to be dead. The female, Viola, disguises herself as male and
serves in the love sick Duke Orsino s Court, where Tis said no woman may approach his court.
Orsino then uses Viola who, in male dress is known as Cesario to attempt to woo Countess Olivia
for himself, whereupon the Countess falls in love with Viola and Viola with Orsino. This love
triangle is brought to a conclusion when Sebastian, the male twin, stumbles upon the Countess
grounds and, mistaken for Viola in man s guise, is promptly married to Olivia. The twins are
therefore united when Viola reveals her true identity. Thus the main plot revolves around
misperception and deception, and the main plot is paralleled by the sub plot.
The sub plot concerns the activities of the Countess s servants. It largely involves the plotting of
Malvolio s downfall. There is an attempt to make him appear a fool before Olivia ( ...here comes
the trout which must be caught with tickling. ). Maria imitates Olivia s handwriting in forging a

Who Killed Benny Paret
Millions of people worldwide take part as spectators to the sport of prize fighting: better known as
boxing. In a 1962 essay entitled Who Killed Benny Paret? the author, Norman Cousins, writes about
the dangers that come with the sport of boxing. He especially talks about a match that resulted in
the death of a boxer named Benny Paret. Cousins argues that boxingis just a show of violence and
that boxers put themselves in the ring just for the simple purpose of entertaining a crowd. Even
though investigations reflect the role of the referee, Paret s manager, and the doctor s examinations
as the main cause of Paret s death, Cousins blames Paret s death on the people that attends boxing

The referee could it stop the fight, the manager should it not rushed Paret to fight if he was not
ready and the doctors should it examined him further. Boxers sometimes face the challenge of
defeating their opponent for many reasons. Those reasons could be to prove they can win, to
earn money and to not disappoint or lead down fans and beaters. Many boxers choose boxing
because they are good at it and it s a way of earning money, just like Benny Paret. Boxing is a
dangerous sport since every boxer become badly hurt and ill at the end of every match. Most
boxers suffer from brain damages as a result of many hits in the head. Cousins explains that
Benny Paret was killed because of a massive hemorrhage in the brain, caused by an impact
directed against the head (par. 7) Cousins also wrote Not every blow to the head will kill a man
but there is always the risk of concussion and damage to the brain (par. 7). Fighters that survive
repeated concussions still go and fight, but the problem here is that the damage in the brain may
be permanent. Sometimes boxers should consider their health problems before fighting again. The
viewers are the main encouragement for boxers to keep fighting or to fight harder. They don t
come out to see a tee party, said Mike Jacobs evenly. They come out to see the knockout. They
come out to see a man hurt. If they think anything else, they re kidding themselves (qtd. in

Houston, your thread is beautifully written. Prosecuting attorneys are the governments advocate,
thus they do enjoy absolute immunity from civil law suits. For example if a defendant has a

the prosecution in a criminal case is not that the prosecution shall win the case, but that justice shall
be done, in addition to reducing crime (Neubauer Fradella, 2014. p. 167.). Due to human

rates of poverty. There are many factors that have led to these major rates of poverty. Somalia s
economy is very bad because of the high unemployment rates and piracy. Because of the civil war
that happened in Somalia, the government is not able to help decrease povertylevels. Lack of
education in the country makes it difficult for people to get jobs. The economy, the government
and the education levels are some of the most prevalent issues leading to this high rate of poverty

Education is very important for everyone to have but many of the schools that were located
within Somalia are gone, In Central South Somalia more than three quarters of public schools
that existed before the civil war have been destroyed and/or closed and state intervention in the
education sector has been limited. (Education in Somalia, n.d. para. 2). Meaning that many of
the children who live in Somalia, are not getting a proper education. Even if they go to receive
an education, they are not there for very long, Children are in school for an average of only
three years, with 50 percent of the child population contributing to the work force. (Poverty in
Somalia, n.d. para. 9). Because these people live in such poverty, these children choose to work
to earn some money instead of receiving an education. Many people in the country are illiterate,
Only 37.8 percent of the population over the age of 15 can read and write. (Poverty in Somalia,
n.d. para. 8). Because of these facts, many of the Somalian people cannot get better jobs. This
also makes it extremely difficult for the Somalian people to go to different countries in search for
a better life. These are the reasons why the education of the Somalian people have a major effect on

The Problem Of Climate Policy Essay
Dana:Everything is off the record, but if we ever wanted to quote you for any reason, you would
receive an email with a request and the actual quote in it. So, it is off the record, even though we
are recording.
Alex:Okay, that works.
Joe:So the recorder is now on. Just by way of introduction, can you guys give us a little about your
background with Nevada Climate and Energy Policy?
Alex:Before we jump in, can you give us a little bit more context of what the end goal of the
project is and what the big pitcher here is?
Dana:Sure, I can do that. Basically the idea is that we publish a number of people looking at
climate policy in the United States, particularly mapping out planet ploy network. One of the papers
was published in Nature Climate Change on what we call echo chambers and American Climate
Policies that Joe worked with me on. What we are planning on doing is updating that work, but
also looking at network at the State level around energy politics.
Particularly looking at clean energy networks there. The end goals will hopefully be some
papers that we submit for peer review, where all the information provided is off the record. If we
wanted to quote you, we would ask you for your permission, but then we are also going to be
writing out some white papers that will summarize the finding that will be made publicly
available to people. A general overview of what we are finding with regards to these networks. We
would be happy to share and we will post it on

The Association Between Spontaneous Resolution And...
Chlamydia is the most common bacterial sexually transmitted infection in the United States and
worldwide. Serious complications are associated with untreated chlamydia such as pelvic
inflammatory disease (PID), infertility, and ectopic pregnancy. Most chlamydia infections are
asymptomatic for long periods.1 Some infections may progress causing complications, or may
resolve spontaneously without treatment also known as self cure. The article presents findings of a
perspective study to evaluate the association between spontaneous resolution and decreased
reinfection in women tested positive for chlamydia returning for treatment. The perspective study
was conducted between January 2008 and June 2011. Participants of the study were women 16
years of age or older positive for chlamydia. At enrollment of the study participants were tested for
chlamydia, given treatment, and scheduled for a 6 month follow up clinic visit for retesting. To
reduce confounding a 60 day max time interval was given between initial screening and treatment.
In most cases women receive treatment for chlamydia at the initial clinic visit if they have been
exposed to chlamydia. Only women who had not received treatment, not pregnant and no prior
hysterectomy were eligible for this study. About 20% of chlamydia infected patients observed
experienced spontaneous resolution of infection between the time of initial screening for chlamydia
and returning for treatment of a positive test. II.Article Review

The Relationship Between Marijuana And Depression
By: Tyler Thomas
The relationship between Cannabis sativa (marijuana) and depression has been a primary concern
to research scientists. However, the actual relationship remains double edged as different scholars
have made conflicting conclusions regarding the relationship. A focus has been on the
cannabinoids, a group of chemicals that confer the impacts of the plant on the users.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main active pharmacological constituent of marijuana and the
point of interest for the researchers to discern the relationship between marijuana and depression in
the users. In particular, studies try to find the impact of THC on the cannabinoid receptor (CB) 1.
The receptor is located in the peripheral as well as the central nervous system. THC is an agonist of
the CB1, which forms the point of influence of the marijuana on the nervous system.
The primary concern of researchers is to understand the impact of marijuana on occurrence on
depression. Also, there should be an elaboration on how such an interaction increases or attenuates
depression in the users. Understanding the relationship between marijuana and depression in users
will be instrumental in diverse perspective. The use of marijuana may be promoted if anti
depressive impact is found. It may lead further research to explore the opportunity. Such may
include pharmacological modifications to treat depressed patients. Otherwise, a negative
relationship would lead to increased studies to be utilized in

The Effects Of Obesity On The United States
An epidemic is happening in the United States of America; obesity is on the rise. The United
States is currently is second in the world s most obese countries with more than two thirds of
adults being overweight ( Overweight and Obesity Statistics ). Countermeasures to promote a
healthier living style are on the rise, also. For instance, Michelle Obama s Let s Move program
promotes eating healthy food and increasing exercise. The NFL promotes sixty minutes of play
for children each day to promote healthier living and establishing an active lifestyle. However,
the one area of healthy living promotion is lacking and that is food information. The United
States must change their source of food information; the food label must be changed. Currently
the food label is inaccurate, loose in regulations, and hard to read. By changing the food label to
an easier, clearer, and more accessible source of information, then the American public will have
easier access to information. Furthermore, the American public will have an easier time
choosing healthier options towards food. First off, in order to revise the food label, we need to
understand how it is supposed to work. The food label was develop, and is currently regulated by
the Food and Drug Administration since 1993 (Rosso Grossman, Food Labels ). The food label is
currently has four requirements. The first is the principal display panel. This is in the front of the

Advantages Of Securitisation In Nigeria
This paper seeks to discuss securitisation as a viable, and an alternative way of raising additional
capital for business organisations. Business organisations and other corporate entities require
substantial capital to grow and expand their ventures. When the financial resources of a business
entity are stretched to the limit, equity capital is scarce and therefore expansion is stalled.
Therefore, in order to improve their financial liquidity, the shareholders may not be ready to
relinquish their holdings by issuing stocks to the public. Hence, they have resorted to innovative
ways of raising additional capital with minimal cost. Securitisation has been found to be a
convenient way of raising funds by transforming unmarketable assets/receivables into tradable
securities through the instrumentality of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). For this reason, the
securitisation market has continued to grow. Securitisation has witnessed exponential growth from
a non existent industry in 1970 to $6.6 trillion as of the second quarter of 2003. As it has been
revealed in numerous instances, SPVs have been put to various use by... Show more content on

The Common Era Fransisco Goya
In 1814 of the common era Fransisco Goya painted The Third of May, 1808. This painting shows
us the horrors that happened that day in Madrid when hundreds of Spaniards rebelled the French
were sent in to slaughter them. All but one of the Spaniards in this painting are cowering over to
hide from the death that awaits them The one man who s not cowering is standing there with open
arms ready to embrace the sacrifice he s making for his country. Around 1599 1600 of the common
era Caravaggio painted The Calling of Matthew. This painting is of the tax collector Matthew being
called upon by Christ. More specifically Matthew is sitting with his fellow tax collectors counting
the money collected from the day.
When looking at these works they both give me a strange feeling. Goya s painting is more
depressing than anything, but it almost makes me feel proud of the man in the center as he
displays true heroism. The soldiers are comical to me as all I can think about upon looking at
them is the Winki Guard from the Wizard of Oz. The long coats and the tall fuzzy hats resemble
those from the movie. Caravaggio s painting is mysterious in the regard that the shadows conceal
the men looking and pointing toward Matthew. To add to it everyone around the table is looking at
them quite concerned and confused. Overall this painting doesn t really appeal to me in any
regard. However, I can appreciate the shadow work in both paintings.
Debatably the most visually striking aspect of both of these

Families have food and drink recipes created and passed down from generation to generation.
Some families are known for their specialty dishes. Countries are no different as they have special
items that they grow and export. There are menu items that represent the self image and identity of
the country. Cultural traditions will determine the what, and why of a particular cuisine. These
foods are served in restaurants as well as homes with pride. There will usually be a well told story
behind the selection. Agricultural conditions will sometimes play a significant role in the finished
product. Some of the cuisine selected as specialties may be the same for another culture. The only

Popular Beverage Items of Colombia and Ecuador
When traveling to Columbia, there are several specialty drinks that are native to the region. One
who may prefer a non alcoholic beverage may choose a Colombiana, a tamarind soda. When it
comes to alcoholic beverages, rum tends to be the popular choice. According to South America
(2014), The Colombian rum is high quality and is likely to be drunk at night clubs. Unlike in
Europe or North America where you can order a single drink mixed with rum, here it is
generally served as an entire bottle (p. 1). Colombians usually drink rum at a table in a group
with over ice with a splash of lime. In Ecuador, canelazo is a widely popular alcoholic beverage.
It is a spicy yet sweet drink that is served warm in the Northern Ecuadorian regions. According to
Metropolitan Touring (2014), It is made with water, cinnamon sticks (canela), brown sugar, an acid
fruit juice such as naranjilla or lemon and aguardiente (fire water). A steaming glass of canelazo is
very much appreciated in chilly Andean nights (para. 4). A canelazo is poured into a short, thick
glass then refilled throughout the fiesta to keep an Ecuadorian warm!

They both had huge ideas that to some people would have seemed impossible and the desire to
achieve them. The only difference was which side of the humanistic scale they were on.
Essentially, the tactics hidden underneath of the facades were exactly the same: Burnham s
dream being the fair, and Holmes s dream being a hotel which he could successfully lure women
into and kill them without suspicion. Throughout the novel there are many examples of
buildings and projects that Burnham had to complete. During the process of building each one
there were always challenges that he had to overcome. Before the fair, Burnham and his partner
Root were commissioned to build the Montauk. This building had to face a common problem
for Chicago: the foundation. There was already a common solution for the problem; however,
this building did not have a usual design and required a basement that could not be filled with
stone pyramids as the usual design would have made it. Instead, he came up with a better solution
that involved a floating foundation, and seemed to fulfill its purpose. The Montauk became the
first building to be called a skyscraper. Since Holmes was not building a skyscraper and instead a
three story hotel, he did not have the same issue. Instead, he faced another common problem:
money. Though he was not poor, he was only a pharmacist and wished to be able to pay for the
construction of a building that would cover the entire block. Just like Burnham, he came

Designing A Tower Under The Clock
For this project our group was tasked with designing a tower under the parameters of a 40 cm
height minimum and 10 x 10 cm tower base minimum using bass wood and wood glue. The overall
aim was ultimately to design a tower with the greatest mass to weight ratio. The following consists
of the procedures, results, and conclusions of our designing, constructing, and testing stages.
After the tower was completed the mass of the structure was calculated to be at around 29.2 g
(0.06437498 lbs). Through the use of sand and metal weights (i.e. 8 lbs, 15 lbs, and/or 25 lbs) the
structure withheld a force of around 102 lbs until the upper half of the tower snapped. The weight
held by the structure was divided into 62 lbs of metal weights and 40 lbs ... Show more content on

The building was created as a triangle since it would require less material and would be quicker to
create than building a four sided building.
The building stayed the same height through the sections and we felt that that would be the most
stable since the building would be able to compress upon itself instead of having to spend more
time to try and create a stable design that could withstand the forces. Even though we may be able
distribute weight with a larger base it would weigh more with a ratio that s not as good as what
we have or a ratio that has increased but compared with the effort and materials that we would need
it wouldn t be worth it.
The most difficult part of the construction was trying to connect the wall at a 60В° angle without
letting it fall on itself and keeping an even space through the tower. On the first attempt we
unfortunately broke the first section of the building and noticed the glue didn t glue at connection
where the wood would meet but around the wood. After connecting the two pieces together it was
simple to finish the tower but it involved a lot of waiting time since we weren t able to move on
when we connected the wall since it was unstable since the glue wasn t dry.
Another major difficulty we had was the large amounts of time spent waiting for the glue to dry.
The tedium of having to deal with not being able to work on anything else until the structure had

Differences In Culture In The Philippines
The purpose of this memo is to present my research on the differences in culture in personal life

fish. English is the main language in more formal settings, but the common language is Tagalog.
You may greet people with soft handshakes. You will be judged on your attire so dress
appropriately. Doing business in the Philippines is very personal. They want to have a personal
relationship with you and not the company. The place our team has been assigned is the
Philippines, which is a part of the Asian countries. Luckily, I have already had the opportunity to
visit the Philippines recently so I know some things to expect. Overall, I thought they had many
cultural, communication and business differences. First I will speak of the culture. I believe it is
important to mention a couple important events in the Philippine history. In 1521 chief Lapu Lapu
declined the invitation to the Spanish norm and Christianity from Ferdinand Magellan. The
Spanish and Filipino men then fought and Magellan was found dead. Also, in 1946 the United

Co rumination does however, have the benefit of increasing friendship quality among co ruminators
as it helps build intimacy, understanding, and trust among the pair. Despite this common

This catalogue is a little different from what you might expect. In this catalogue, specific traits for
babies are being sold to couples to help them create the perfect baby. This may seem like a bizarre
scenario, but it may not be too far off in the future. Designing babies using genetic enhancement is
an issue that is gaining more and more attention in the news. This controversial issue, once thought

(CRG) Proponents also believe that genetic engineering would prevent the necessity for repeated
gene modifications for somatic cells as well. Another reason some scientists support this
procedure is to give couples a way to prevent passing on genes to their future offspring that may
predispose them to inherit a condition they want to avoid (CRG). Also, with germ line
modification, couples would be able to enhance certain characteristics of their future children.
Koshland says that germline alteration could meet future В‘needs to design individuals better at
computers, better as musicians, better physically (CRG). James Watson has told researchers to
try to prevent ugly babies and stupid people and to reduce the odds that anyone will be shy or a

Watson seem to be focusing on for the long term is the possibility of the В‘enhancement of desired

So called В‘successful attempts at germ line modification will bring the production of human
beings into the world of designer items. The human creations will be subject to the fashion of the
times just like any other designer item (CRG). Those in favor of germ line manipulation make the
assumption that once a gene in a certain condition is found, it is only appropriate and would be

Although this may be a lot, there is a lot of gold in the rock veins. In fact, more than half of the
world s total production of gold is using vein mining. Gold has been used for medicine and
dentistry can be dated back for thousands of years. The earliest record of medical use of gold was
by the Chinese in 2500 B.C. For dentistry, the earliest use would be for using gold wire to secure
substitute teeth and were used by the Etruscans. Since gold is malleable and resistant to
corrosion, it is ideal to be used in dentistry. Most of the 20th century, gold has been used in
medicine. For example, medicines that treat rheumatoid arthritis contain gold. It has also been
used in the treatment of cancer. Gold is also used for implants as well as treating facial nerve

jealousy, greed and hatred for each another. It is the violence of many humans that can lead them
into doing such unforgivable acts. In both the plays, William Shakespeare and Arthur Miller with
their famous novels, The Merchant of Veniceand The Crucible, have shown how Grudges and
Rivalries can cause such destruction in the lives of the people and the society in this play.
In The Merchant of Venice, Grudges and Personal Rivalries in the trial scene has clearly been
expressed with Shylock and Antonio. The central part and the twist of this novel are primarily
caused by the rivalries between Shylock and Antonio. The merry bond that Antonio signed to help
his dearest friend, Bassanio, was the main reason of the trial scene. According to Antonio, Content
in faith. I ll seal to such a bond, and say there is much kindness in the Jew (1.3.163 164) The bond
which Antonio had willingly accepted was that if he failed to pay back 3 thousand ducats in 3
months, Shylock had the right to cut a pound of flesh from his body. As Antonio was a rich
merchant and had plenty of ships coming in, with 9 times the money of the loan, he found no

Hairball Essay
Hairball A solitary woman sits in conversation with a benign tumour that had just recently been
removed from her ovary. As the woman speaks, the inanimate tumour, which she has named
Hairball, looks on from its glass encased perch atop the fireplace. The scene is macabre and
certainly unusual, but such is the life of Kat, the main character in Margaret Atwood s short story,
Hairball. Kat s life is filled with the unusual and the shocking, a lifestyle that has been self imposed.
Throughout the years, Kat, an avant garde fashion photographer, has altered her image, even her
name, to suit the circumstances and the era. Over time Kat has fashioned a seemingly strong and
impenetrable exterior, but as Kat s life begins to disintegrate... Show more content on

Finally, when she found her way to England, she became Kat, [the name Kat] was economical,
street feline, and pointed as a nail. The short, hard name was a reflection of her hard demeanor. Kat
constantly tried to separate herself from the commonality of her environment. When she was told
that her tumor was fairly common her reply was that, She would have preferred uniqueness. Kat
wanted to stand out; she did not want to be another Clarissa, Meliassa or Penelope, but she
understood that conformity, to the values of her society, would be a requirement if she wanted to
succeed in her personal and professional life. With this in mind, Kat chose to integrate those values
into her own personal approach.
She d shaved off most of her hair, worked on the drop dead stare, perfected a certain turn of the
neck that conveyed an aloof inner authority. What you had to you had to make them believe was
that you knew something they didn t know yet. (p.17)
As the conflict between Kat and her society, she finds herself losing the fight. Despite accolades
she received while working on the razor s edge, Kat s life is less than successful. Her relationships
with competitive men and left her broken and hurt. Twice she had abortions, because the men in
question were not up for the alternative (pp.17). Kat s choice to

Policing In America
Policing in America underwent a major paradigm shift in the way that law enforcement was
carried out this shift was known as a shift from the Political Era to the Professional (Reform) Era
(Roberg, Novak, Cordner, Smith, 2015). This switch in eras happened in the United States during
a period branded as the Progressive Era, when many types of problems ... began to be addressed
not only in the public sector but also in private enterprise (Roberg et al., 2015, p. 41). This
movement affected the United Statesand the American life since it functioned on the ideas that
there should be (1) honest and efficiency in government, (2) more authority for public officials
(and less for politicians), and (3) the use of experts to respond to specific... Show more content on

Wilson, credited with being the most influential figures in making [professionalism] the
dominant paradigm in American policing (Henry, 2003, p. 81). Vollmer served as Berkeley
California s Chief of Police from 1905 to 1932, during which he revolutionized policing by
increasing efficiency and providing resources for the police to better serve their community
(Henry, 2003). As Chief, Vollmer made Berkeley the first police agency to deploy its entire
patrol force in automobiles, enabling officers to respond to reported crimes even more rapidly
(Henry, 2003, p. 81). Knowing that policing was a multifaceted service, Vollmer believed that
police officers should be proficient in knowledge of law and their duties and social skills, but they
also should continue their education and receive advanced training (Henry, 2003). He held the
belief that higher education held the key to transforming policing into a true profession, equal in
status and stature to the legal and medical professions (Henry, 2003, p. 81). Holding the same
values, Vollmer s protГ©gГ©e, O.W. Wilson, used the skills and leadership attributes learned from
Vollmer to improve and reform the Wichita, Kansas Police Department (Henry, 2003). Wilson,
similarly to Vollmer, researched how to improve efficiency and implemented new technology to
better serve the community (Henry, 2003). Vollmer and Wilson s dedication to and implementation

Networking This research proposal uses Delphi technique to refine the research topic area. It is about forming a group of individuals who are related to or concerned about the research area to develop a more particular research idea (Saunders et al., 2006). I explained to three relevant course lecturers that my research idea was involved with helping young people use financial products to save and plan for their future. And we generated a few specific ideas, such as: the economic aspects that required young people to start saving; the features that young people look for in savings projects; roles of governments and savings sector in developing preferable savings projects. Bipolar disorder is a mental illness caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, and can be managed with therapy and medication. The episodes can last for days, hours or can be very short. Thousands of years ago, the Greeks recognized the vacillation between elation and depression. It wasn t until the end of the 20th century that the disease was legitimized by congress. Bipolar comes from Julies Falret, in 1854 used the phrase folie circulaire which means circular insanity (A Brief History paragraph 2). Mr. Falret was the one who made the connection between suicide, depression and the bouts of mania. He also found out that Bipolar disorder was common in families and believed it to be genetic. Amanda Clark survived her first car accident caused by distracted driving, but wasn t as lucky the second time. After she started driving again, she pledged to put her phone away and focus on driving. Clark s Mother, Bonnye Spray, said, I thought this would be a wakeup call for her, and it was for a short time she wouldn t talk on the phone, she was more cautious. Although distracted driving is a problem for all drivers, it specifically is a major problem for teenagers. Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death for American teens. • 5. The Effects Of Controlled Burns On Rangelands The Effects of Controlled Burns on Rangelands Shane J. Methvin BYU Idaho Abstract There are many different techniques or methods used to manage rangelands. These methods have been implemented to improve the health of a rangeland. One such technique that has been found to be beneficial is controlled burning. Controlled burning can help improve rangelands for both livestock and wildlife if managed properly. This is done by burning an area which kills undesirable woody species, giving desirable, native grass species a chance to bounce back, as they can be choked out by these competing woody species. Controlled burning can also have negative effects as well if managed improperly. If controlled burns are managed properly, the overall... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such was the case in the study conducted by a Texas AgriLife Research Range ecologist (Ledbetter, 2010). The focus of this study was observing the effects of summer patch fires on the reduction of unwanted woody plants and prickly pear cacti. In this study, patches were burned rather than burning pastures as a whole to allow livestock to continue to graze in other areas simultaneously with the controlled burns. These burns took place in the summer rather than the winter because, prescribed fire in the summer is more effective in controlling unwanted woody plants and prickly pear cactus than winter fires because they burn hotter (Ledbetter, 2010). The results indicated that if controlled burning and rotational grazing are carefully managed, success in reducing the number of unwanted plants can be achieved (Ledbetter, 2010). Sometimes the public s opinion about burning rangelands and regulations can influence the ability of landowners and range managers to perform controlled burns. Many of the grasslands and areas managers wish to burn have adapted to occasional fires and native grasses can recover quite well, while unwanted woody species are reduced. Suppression of controlled burns, many times because of the public s opinion, can lead to an increase in these woody species, competing for nutrients with native grasses. If controlled burns continue to be suppressed by the public and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These issues mainly arise from their previous successful ventures as a warehouse wholesale company. Four years later and with the backing of a larger political following, Jackson became president, campaigning to the middle class and offering the opportunities of a benevolent democracy. Jackson s supporters, the Jacksonians, were as diverse as they were numerous; northern farmers, southern and western yeomen, and even urban immigrants all joined the ranks of the Champion of the Common Man (OI). During Andrew Jackson s two terms, the state of Jacksonian Democracy that took form upheld the principles of equality and majority rule that bound the United States together politically, economically and socially. During the 1820s and 1830s, Jacksonians served as guardians of the Constitution and equality of economic opportunity, and functioned as a catalyst for popular sovereignty, but sacrificed some individual liberties to advance the political democracy in the union. Whatever problems crop up in the life of Paul Morel has been addressed as the reason of his mother fixation . Whenever someone strives to examine the character or personae of Paul Morel, the Oedipus complex looms large and everything else, if there is any, fades away. An example would be NKF s dilemma of whether to disclose the salary of the CEO; not doing so would result in accusations of not being transparent while disclosing it might lead to criticism of charity leaders being too highly paid. Fighters that survive repeated concussions still go and fight, but the problem here is that the damage in the brain may be permanent. Sometimes boxers should consider their health problems before fighting again. The viewers are the main encouragement for boxers to keep fighting or to fight harder. However, the actual relationship remains double edged as different scholars have made conflicting conclusions regarding the relationship. A focus has been on the cannabinoids, a group of chemicals that confer the impacts of the plant on the users. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main active pharmacological constituent of marijuana and the point of interest for the researchers to discern the relationship between marijuana and depression in the users. In particular, studies try to find the impact of THC on the cannabinoid receptor (CB) 1. The receptor is located in the peripheral as well as the central nervous system. Business organisations and other corporate entities require substantial capital to grow and expand their ventures. When the financial resources of a business entity are stretched to the limit, equity capital is scarce and therefore expansion is stalled. Therefore, in order to improve their financial liquidity, the shareholders may not be ready to relinquish their holdings by issuing stocks to the public. Hence, they have resorted to innovative ways of raising additional capital with minimal cost. Securitisation has been found to be a convenient way of raising funds by transforming unmarketable assets/receivables into tradable securities through the instrumentality of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). For this reason, the securitisation market has continued to grow. I have visited the St. Jude Children s Research Hospital many times in Lexington, Kentucky, close to where I live, and visited the children and gave them little gifts. It truly breaks my heart to see the children suffering in the way that they do, but it feels my heart to see them and play with them and see their little faces light up when they see the treats that I had brought them. For many of these children and their families, they would not be able to get the treatment needed if it weren t for St. Jude. They could simply not afford it and St. Jude has been ... One tells of the adventures and horrors that came with being the important figures behind the production of something as great as the exposition. They both had huge ideas that to some people would have seemed impossible and the desire to achieve them. The only difference was which side of the humanistic scale they were on. Essentially, the tactics hidden underneath of the facades were exactly the same: Burnham s dream being the fair, and Holmes s dream being a hotel which he could successfully lure women into and kill them without suspicion. Throughout the novel there are many examples of buildings and projects that Burnham had to complete. During the process of building each one there were always challenges that he had to overcome. Before the fair, Burnham and his partner Root were commissioned to build the Montauk. This building had to face a common problem for Chicago: the foundation. There was already a common solution for the problem; however, this building did not have a usual design and required a basement that could not be filled with stone pyramids as the usual design would have made it. Instead, he came up with a better solution that involved a floating foundation, and seemed to fulfill its purpose. The Montauk became the first building to be called a skyscraper. Since Holmes was not building a skyscraper and instead a three story hotel, he did not have the same issue. Instead, he faced another common problem: money. Though he was not poor, he was only a pharmacist and wished to be able to pay for the construction of a building that would cover the entire block. Just like Burnham, he came ... Designing A Tower Under The Clock For this project our group was tasked with designing a tower under the parameters of a 40 cm height minimum and 10 x 10 cm tower base minimum using bass wood and wood glue. The overall aim was ultimately to design a tower with the greatest mass to weight ratio. The following consists of the procedures, results, and conclusions of our designing, constructing, and testing stages. After the tower was completed the mass of the structure was calculated to be at around 29.2 g (0.06437498 lbs). Through the use of sand and metal weights (i.e. 8 lbs, 15 lbs, and/or 25 lbs) the structure withheld a force of around 102 lbs until the upper half of the tower snapped. The weight held by the structure was divided into 62 lbs of metal weights and 40 lbs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The building was created as a triangle since it would require less material and would be quicker to create than building a four sided building. The building stayed the same height through the sections and we felt that that would be the most stable since the building would be able to compress upon itself instead of having to spend more time to try and create a stable design that could withstand the forces. Even though we may be able distribute weight with a larger base it would weigh more with a ratio that s not as good as what we have or a ratio that has increased but compared with the effort and materials that we would need it wouldn t be worth it. The most difficult part of the construction was trying to connect the wall at a 60В° angle without letting it fall on itself and keeping an even space through the tower. On the first attempt we unfortunately broke the first section of the building and noticed the glue didn t glue at connection where the wood would meet but around the wood. After connecting the two pieces together it was simple to finish the tower but it involved a lot of waiting time since we weren t able to move on when we connected the wall since it was unstable since the glue wasn t dry. Another major difficulty we had was the large amounts of time spent waiting for the glue to dry. The goal is to prepare our team so we are ready for the cultural, communication, and business differences. I was quite impressed with the differences in cultures and business. The weather will be hot and humid for the most part. Expect to eat a lot of rice and fish. English is the main language in more formal settings, but the common language is Tagalog. You may greet people with soft handshakes. You will be judged on your attire so dress appropriately. Doing business in the Philippines is very personal. They want to have a personal relationship with you and not the company. The place our team has been assigned is the Philippines, which is a part of the Asian countries. Luckily, I have already had the opportunity to visit the Philippines recently so I know some things to expect. Overall, I thought they had many cultural, communication and business differences. First I will speak of the culture. I believe it is important to mention a couple important events in the Philippine history. In 1521 chief Lapu Lapu declined the invitation to the Spanish norm and Christianity from Ferdinand Magellan. The Spanish and Filipino men then fought and Magellan was found dead. Also, in 1946 the United States freed the Philippines from the Japanese during World War II. The weather is hot because of how close the country is to the equator. There is a dry season ... (CRG) Proponents also believe that genetic engineering would prevent the necessity for repeated gene modifications for somatic cells as well. Another reason some scientists support this procedure is to give couples a way to prevent passing on genes to their future offspring that may predispose them to inherit a condition they want to avoid (CRG). Also, with germ line modification, couples would be able to enhance certain characteristics of their future children. Koshland says that germline alteration could meet future В‘needs to design individuals better at computers, better as musicians, better physically (CRG). James Watson has told researchers to try to prevent ugly babies and stupid people and to reduce the odds that anyone will be shy or a В‘cold fish (McKibben 22). The basic selling point of germ line modification that supporters like Watson seem to be focusing on for the long term is the possibility of the В‘enhancement of desired traits.
