This presentation outlines an upcoming classroom project called "Culture Shock!" that will compare and contrast aspects of lifestyle between the American Revolution period and modern times. Over the course of two weeks, students will research clothing, schooling, gender roles, and other topics to learn about daily life in the past. They will then work collaboratively in groups to create skits that highlight at least five differences between the eras. The goal is for students to better understand history while developing creativity, problem solving, communication and other skills.

21st century skills report
Kindergartners today will graduate in 2021 and enter a world vastly different than the present. To prepare students for this changing world, schools must shift away from an industrial model and focus on developing 21st century skills like critical thinking, communication, creativity and technology literacy. This involves making students' education more personalized and emphasizing skills like problem solving through hands-on, inquiry-based learning connected to real-world issues. Schools will need to incorporate global topics, civic engagement and environmental awareness across disciplines to ready students for the interconnected challenges of the future.
Problem-Based vs. Project Based Learning
This presentation discusses project-based learning (PBL) and problem-based learning (PBL) strategies and their benefits for students. Both approaches engage students through open-ended, real-world problems and projects. They develop critical thinking, collaboration skills, and help prepare students for 21st century careers. While similar, problem-based learning focuses on solving complex problems, often related to science or social studies standards. Project-based learning allows student-driven inquiry based on their interests. Both require students to research and develop solutions or products to demonstrate their understanding.
Special Project
This document describes a proposed student center project at a university in Puerto Rico. The project aims to [1] create a social space where students from different groups can interact in a non-hostile environment, [2] provide an activity space for students during lunch to prevent behavioral issues, and [3] promote unity and socialization between student communities. The project would obtain donations to fund game materials, paint supplies, and furniture to transform an existing room into a student center. An inauguration event would be held once complete.
