Great changes are occurring throughout organizations worldwide. New and rapidly evolving web 2.0 networking technologies promise the next generation advances in information technology and business capabilities. An increase array of multimedia communications technologies such as virtual workspaces, social networking tools, web conferencing applications, text messaging, internet phone services, and as if you are there video meetings are creating new possibilities for organizations to more quickly and effectively connect people.

A "manifesto" of sorts around the fundamental shifts in how organizations behave in a world of continuous discontinuity and what leaders can do to be able to adjust and thus optimize the performance of their organizations and their people.
The statistics on change leadership are dismal. McKinsey Quarterly reported that only 38% of leaders believed their recent transformation effort was better than somewhat successful. And the project success rates (coming in on time, within budget, and to scope) are lower than anyone would like. Clearly, there's room for improvement.
In this session given at the 2012 Healthcare Businesswomen's Association Leadership Conference, participants learned what it takes to provide successful change leadership. Specifically, we discussed:
- The one method that makes a change initiative 10 times more likely to succeed.
- The six ways of creating change in organizations.
- How leaders can use the six ways to help create change.
- How leaders can choose the best fit for their projects or initiatives.
Participants said it was the "best session of the conference!" For more information, see the event post at http://partneringresources.com/event/change-leadership-at-hba-leadership-conference/.

Solving performance problems in MySQL without denormalizationdmcfarlane
As operational database schemas become complex, users resort to denormalization to handle performance issues. This includes a range of techniques from materialized views to using MySQL as a key-value store for blobs containing full objects. While denormalization solves immediate bottlenecks, it comes at a hefty price. In this presentation Ari will explore common denormalization approaches and tradeoffs using real world examples. He will then present a solution under development at Akiban Technologies to alleviate these same problems much more efficiently, and allow users to get the best of both worlds.

Charles Gould at Learning Live 2014: Total learning: learn faster, work smart...Brightwave Group
Total learning: learn faster, work smarter with four systems in one
We know that up to 90% of learning takes place outside formal training or e-learning, with the majority of learning coming from casual interactions with our colleagues and peers, or from purely informal, self-directed learning. But the learning industry is still struggling to develop innovative systems that integrate with how people learn today.
In this session Charles explores how a 'total learning' approach meets not only the needs of today's learners, but, crucially, how it can deliver real value for forward-thinking organisations. Charles demonstrates how Brightwave's total learning system – tessello – provides an environment that allows L&D teams to improve productivity, generate value and transform their position in the business.
The session explores:
● How technology that uses the Tin Can API delivers an enhanced learning environment – putting learners in control of their own learning and allowing them to record a wide range of online and offline learning (including informal) experiences
● How informal and social learning works alongside formal learning resources – without the need for a separate platform
● How powerful analytics provide rich insight into how learning is being experienced and applied – helping organisations make informed decisions to improve learning and ensuring it remains relevant and business focussed
● How to keep your best people engaged and in the organisation – providing learners with an environment that allows them to find information they need and when they need it, as well as connecting them to other experts across organisational silos, boosting engagement and so reducing staff attrition
● How improving the performance of your people, by helping them learn faster and smarter, boosts the performance of the organisation.

Five Levels of Communication InfographicMaya Townsend
Some tools never lose their value. The hammer. The umbrella. The wheel. These tools have been around for centuries and we trust them.
We have similarly trustworthy, proven tools in the organizational world. The Tried & True series shares trusted models that stand the test of time in graphical form. The first tool is the Five Levels of Communication.
Most leaders recognize that communication is essential during change. However, all too many think of communication as a simple matter of sending an informational email.
To encourage all that's needed to support sustainable change, organizations must engage in five different levels of communication. This model, developed by Linda Ackerman Anderson and Dean Anderson based on a model by ARC Worldwide, has been helping leaders for years.
Organizational process approaches encompass methodologies, frameworks, and strategies employed by businesses to enhance efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness in their operations. These approaches involve analyzing, designing, implementing, and improving processes across various functions and levels within an organization. In this comprehensive overview, we'll explore the significance of organizational process approaches, different methodologies and frameworks, their applications across industries, and emerging trends shaping their evolution.
1. Introduction to Organizational Process Approaches:
Organizational process approaches focus on understanding, managing, and improving the processes that drive business activities and outcomes. These approaches recognize that organizational success depends on the effectiveness of internal processes, interactions, and workflows. By adopting systematic methods for analyzing and optimizing processes, organizations can achieve operational excellence, enhance customer satisfaction, and maintain competitive advantage in dynamic markets.
2. Significance of Organizational Process Approaches:
Organizational process approaches are essential for several reasons:
Efficiency: Process optimization leads to streamlined workflows, reduced waste, and improved resource utilization, resulting in cost savings and increased efficiency.
Quality: Well-defined processes facilitate consistency, standardization, and adherence to quality standards, leading to higher-quality products and services.
Agility: Agile processes enable organizations to adapt quickly to changing market conditions, customer preferences, and technological advancements, enhancing their responsiveness and competitiveness.
Innovation: Process improvement initiatives foster a culture of innovation by encouraging experimentation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the organization.
3. Methodologies and Frameworks of Organizational Process Approaches:
Several methodologies and frameworks are commonly used to implement organizational process approaches:
Business Process Management (BPM): BPM is a holistic approach to managing and optimizing business processes throughout their lifecycle. It involves activities such as process modeling, analysis, redesign, automation, monitoring, and improvement.
Lean Management: Lean management focuses on eliminating waste, improving flow, and maximizing value delivery to customers. It emphasizes principles such as continuous improvement, respect for people, and customer focus.
Six Sigma: Six Sigma is a data-driven methodology for reducing defects and variations in processes. It employs statistical tools and techniques to measure, analyze, improve, and control processes to achieve near-perfect performance.
Total Quality Management (TQM): TQM is a management philosophy that emphasizes continuous improvement, customer focus, and employee involvement. It aims to achieve quality excellence in all aspects of or

The change management is a fundamental part of an organization.
Behaviors and attitudes of people, who are connected with the organization, are affected when decisions and actions are taken for any change in the organization.
The changes can be threatening for the people linked with the organization, while the change can be positive for the organization.
The Not for Profit Thought and Action Group, chaired by Martyn Dicker, has been exploring employee engagement in the sector for three years and have produced a not-for-profit sector employee engagement toolkit.
The toolkit shares the findings of research involving over 40 organisations exploring engagement beyond the mission of the organisation, along with best practice advice on the measurement of engagement in the sector.
It also includes a number of case studies on the approach to engagement presented through the lens of the four enablers of engagement as first proposed by David Macleod and Nita Clarke.
WHAT? Within our industry the personal health effects of noise and vibration are well known and should now be embedded in your Company Health and safety arrangements. Construction industry is one of the leading sources of noise complaints made to Local Authorities. Something is considered ‘noisy’ when the sound is unwanted by the listener. Noise and vibration emissions can disturb local residents and give rise to complaints and delays.
Silo explodes at ready-mix plant...The top (cap) of the silo was thrown into the air, across a road, landing in an adjacent property. Fortunately, no injuries occurred as a result of this incident.
Dust and emissions, such as the recent publicity in the national press relating to the health hazards of particulates in diesel powered vehicles exhaust emissions, can cause health risks and odours at high concentrations may annoy neighbours and those affected by our activities.
Oxygen is a colourless, odourless and tasteless gas and makes up to 21% of the air we breathe, it has a relative density of 1.1 which means it is slightly heavier than air.
Oils, greases, solvents and PTFE tape may react violently with oxygen. You should never use oil or grease to lubricate oxygen or oxygen enriched equipment as they can spontaneously burn with explosive violence.
Lifting and rigging operations are some of the most hazardous activities we regularly undertake, day in day out. The consequences of something going wrong during a lifting or rigging operation can literally be fatal.
TOOLBOX TALK | safe use of lift trucks and telehandlersAlan Bassett
Lift trucks are widely used throughout industry for moving materials and goods, but they also feature prominently in workplace accidents. Even an incident not causing injury may result in costly damage to lift trucks, buildings, fittings and the goods being handled.
Last year in the UK 40 people died and nearly 43,000 reported non fatal injuries as a result of a fall from height in the workplace. Falls from height are the most common cause of fatal injury and the second most common cause of major injury to employees, accounting for around 15% of all such injuries...
During December the monthly average number of fires, injuries and fatalities more than doubles in households across the UK.
