- 4. General Resources EBSCOhost ProQuest EBSCOhost and ProQuest are general database that contain articles from thousands of journals. They are both great places to start doing research.
- 5. Specialized Resources ACM Digital Library Nursing OVID But maybe you want to dig a little deeper? In that case, check out the specialized resources. These are more specific databases on a variety of subjects.
- 6. Encyclopedias and Dictionaries Encyclopedia Brittanica Oxford English Dictionary Encyclopedias and dictionaries are useful to define key terms and deliver background information about a topic.
- 7. Government Resources US Census Statistics US Crime Statistics If you want to include statistics in your papers, look at government resources like US census, education or crime statistics. This can helpful when you to prove a point by using a fact.
- 8. Journal Indexes and Abstracts Science Direct Google Scholar Journal Indexes and Abstracts are additional databases. Google Scholar is like using Google, but it only returned peer-reviewed results.
- 9. Multimedia Films on Demand Issues and Controversies Want to use a film as evidence? Check out the multimedia section of the library resources. These resources are all interactive.
- 10. Resources by Subject Education Resources Science Resources Looking for information about a specific subject?
- 11. Subject Guides Criminal Justice Subject Guide Psychology Subject Guide Subject guides list all of the university’s resources by subject.
- 12. Resources Alphabetically You can even look up resources in alphabetical order.
- 13. Resources by Title US News and World Reports And you can look up magazines and journal by title. You can search for a specific magazine.
- 14. eBooks A Glossary of Literary Terms Fundamentals of the Fungi If you want some heavier reading, visit the ebooks section of the library.

- When you start in eCampus, you can either type your search term directly into the text box or click on the University Library link to see more resources. Let’s click on the link to see more of what the university library has to offer.
- This is the library home page. You can either type your search term directly into the text box or explore the library resources at the bottom of the screen. This presentation will cover most of the library resources available to you.
- The first library resource is General Resources. These are EBSCOhost and ProQuest. These databases are good places to start more in depth research about your topic because together they contain access to over 10,000 periodicals. The down side of using big databases like these is that you might become overwhelmed by the amount of information you find. You will need to learn how to narrow your sources.
- Don’t forget Specialized Resources. These databases contain information that is specific to a variety of subjects. For instance, Nursing OVID specializes in topics related to nursing. ACM Digital Library contains technology information. Opposing Viewpoints in Context lists hundreds of controversial topics and includes research about them. Skim through the Specialized Resources to see if any of them might apply to your topic.
- Did you know you could access encyclopedias and dictionaries through the university library? This is a great place to find background information about your topic.
- Do you need some statistics to back up your opinions? Then government resources might prove very useful to you. You can find US census information, crime stats and more.
- If you want to get even more in depth about your topic, check out the Journal Indexes and Abstracts. These are directories of periodicals that focus on specific topics like science, education and more.
- Do you want to watch a video about your topic? If so, consider using the Multimedia resources in the library. These resources offer a more interactive way to do your research.
- Another way to search for information about your topic is search by subject matter. If you click on a subject, the library will recommend resources for you to use to locate pertinent information.
- Searching by Subject Guide is similar to Resources by Subject, but you will receive even more specific information here.
- Do you know the resource you want, but you can seem to locate it? Then search for resources alphabetically.
- Or are you looking for a particular periodical like US New and World Reports? Then just type the name of the magazine directly in the search box and the library will return all issues it has on file.
- Last, if you want some heavier reading, you can search for eBooks.
