Automotive Safety Training
Presented By : Tonex Training
So, what is automotive safety ?
Automotive safety is the practice of design, construction, equipment and regulation. It minimizes the road occurrence and consequences of motor vehicles traffic collisions.
Automotive safety means it’s all about ISO 26262. ISO 26262 mandates a functional safety development process. Automotive OEMs and suppliers must follow and document to have their devices qualified to run inside commercial (passenger) vehicles.
Automotive safety and ISO 26262 :
Most importantly, A functional safety standard like ISO 26262 ensures that automotive components do what they’re supposed to do, precisely when they’re supposed to do it.
Obviously, Fulfillment of ISO 26262 requires extensive documentation and testing, which can be extremely time-consuming. It requires that engineers first assess their design software for Tool Confidence Levels.
ISO 26262 benefits for automotive industry :
ISO 26262 provides multiple benefits to automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers, such as:
Firstly, It demonstrates due diligence and ensure overall safety
Secondly, it maintains competitive advantage and minimizes the risk.
Thirdly, it avoids costly product recalls and reputation
Finally, It helps to obtain simplified access to global markets

In an aircraft, health of the engine plays a very crucial role both in terms of cost and safety of an aircraft. Thus proper Engine Health Management (EHM) is significant for the optimal performance of the aircraft engine. But to democratize the idea that EHM will be done only by engine manufacturers, providing access of engine data to other stakeholders is necessary. Considering android as an obvious choice as an open source secure platform, if ported on PowerPC, primes and OEMs can do EHM independently. eInfochips overcame biggest challenge of difference in endianness and successfully ported Android on PowerPC.

Driving a Digital Thread Program in Manufacturing with Apache Kafka | Anu Mis...HostedbyConfluent
Forward-looking manufacturing companies have recognized the value of digital threads that bring together design and product information across the product life cycle, connecting the dots as information flows from design to manufacturing and on to services. Creating a reliable, scalable infrastructure to support digital thread programs can be a significant challenge, given the wide variety of legacy systems involved. At Mercury Systems we are using Kafka and Confluent to drive our digital thread program and put in place a product lifecycle management process for Industry 4.0. With the substantial year-on-year growth we were seeing, we needed a cloud-ready solution that goes beyond a basic, API-based integration layer based on Mulesoft or similar technology. If you’re wondering why Kafka makes sense for a digital thread, join us to learn how a real-time event streaming platform enables core strategies around ML/AI, microservices, model-based system engineering, and continuous improvement.
When APM came to the forefront five or so years ago, we all thought we’d finally found the answer to our visibility challenges. Almost every organization implemented some form of APM. The truth is these solutions, for the most part, delivered. APM today is doing exactly what it’s supposed to be doing. But it is still not enough.
APM has fallen short in two separate areas. One is not addressing the multitude of data – in addition to the metrics gathered by APM solutions – that must be analyzed to determine application health. The second is the failure to predict the global shift from an ITIL-based IT Ops strategy to a DevOps/Application Support structure; from silos of information to a merged architecture where everyone has access to the data and views they need.
APM is now just a piece of an end-to-end visibility and control solution.
In this webinar, Rodney Morrison, SL's VP of Products, discussed the disillusionment of APM, and did a walk-through of several use cases of companies who are leading the way to the new era of end-to-end visibility and control of their critical applications and infrastructure.
Learn how these companies are able to:
• See only the events that matter to them with enough context to show why they matter
• Provide access to end-to-end, time-correlated monitoring metrics for faster troubleshooting
• Enable custom, real-time holistic views of application configuration, dependencies and data flows for more intuitive understanding of application performance
• Automate manual processes such health checks and stop and start scripts to work faster and reduce errors
Tales from the Postgres Front - and What We Can LearnEDB
Studying when and why PostgreSQL users – even veteran pros – call us for help can go a long way toward educating the community on emerging skill sets and rising demand for specific kinds of expertise. This presentation was delivered by Marc Linster, Senior Vice President, Products and Services at EnterpriseDB. He explains why database pros should make friends in the worlds of operating systems and storage area networks, why their knowledge of Linux should extend beyond Red Hat, and why they need to learn more than a few tuning tips. Mining the support ticket database of EnterpriseDB, a major Postgres software and services provider, gives great insight into what DBAs need to know and what awaits if they don’t heed the advice.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
