The Role Of Principal And Teacher Retention
Appendices
Appendix A
Consent Form
Dear Potential Participant,
You are invited to participate in the qualitative research study of The Role of the Principal and Teacher
Retention. The purpose of this study is to better understand teacher retention and teacher attrition
among elementary school teachers in Prince George s County Public Schools. In this study, I will
attempt to understand what factors are in play that result in better rates of teacher retention
specifically, what, if anything are principals in those schools doing that seem to lead to higher rates of
teacher retention. You are invited because your experiences and the school s demographics are the
fundamental building blocks of this study. In this study, you will be interviewed and/or observed. The
data collected from you will be analyzed qualitatively and then provide insight into current use
patterns and effectiveness. The findings will support the knowledgebase for future research on teacher
retention. Your participation and contribution to this study is highly appreciated.
There is no risk or discomfort associated with your participation. The information you provide is

The Impact Of Social Media On Our Society
(Show clips from Joey, Connor, Ingrid, Troye and Hannah s coming out videos)
(Black out)
These people are highly respected by this, the social media generation. They are role models and yet,
they do not have the same rights as many others. They cannot marry the ones they love.
(Cut to me)
Harper Lee wrote it well, you never truly understand a person until you climb inside his skin and walk
around in it. Imagine the whole world was flipped, and being homosexual was the norm and
heterosexuality was considered abnormal. By the standards of the church you were disowned and you
couldn t marry the one you loved. Would you try to fight for your own rights? So that if you were

After presenting the evidence from both perspectives, I will then evaluate whether the legalisation of
gay marriage can be seen as a step towards considerable social change or if the evidence given aligns
more thoroughly with the arguments of cultural conflict. Unquestionably based upon the acquired
research, it can be seen that Marriage Equality is an inevitable social change to come in the following
years in Australian society.
(__)
Gay Marriage in the past few years has been a topic that has been highly debated and discussed. As
with any controversial issue, there are two sides to this argument. One side, the opposition, cites
religious view points and concerns about fornication and further raisse concerns that the rights of
marriage should be restricted to heterosexual couples (Debate.org). An increasing number on this side
of the argument have recently changed their opinions over the last few years as a result of mounting
pressure from LGBTI groups. People supporting marriage equality assert that marriage is a civil right
and therefore should not have restrictions based on sexual orientation. This side firmly believes that
love, not sexual orientation, is grounds enough for marriage (Debate.org). The supporting side seems
to be the populist view point, as evidenced from the recent changes of law in some of the most
prominent countries in the world, such as America.

How Mark A Book By Mortimer J. Adler
How to Mark a Book by Mortimer J. Adler. How to Mark a Book by Mortimer J. Adler is an essay
over the author s belief on the importance of marking or writing inside a book. Adler s primary
purpose is persuasive. He writes to convince the reader to partake in writing in one s own books when
reading to become more efficient. Adler s secondary purpose is expressive because of the way he
describes his least favorite type of reader: There are three kinds of book owners. The first has all the
standard sets and best sellers unread, untouched. This deluded individual owns woodpulp and ink, not
books (17 6). Adler uses a couple of patterns during his essay. The first pattern is description. He
explains that the true value of a book is in its ideas: The soul of a book can be separated from its body.
A book is more like the score of a piece of music than it is like a painting (17 8). Adler then uses a
comparison/contrast pattern to enlighten the reader about the three kinds of book owners. His least
favorite type of reader was mention earlier in the analysis. The second type of book owner has many
books but they have no written notes or markings by the owner. This owner is, compared to the next
type in Alder s eyes, still not a true book owner. The third and most desired type of book owner,
according to Alder, has: ... a few books or many every one of them dog eared and dilapidated, shaken
and loosened by continual use, marked and scribbled in from front to back.

Johnny Cade Case Study
Prosecution Against Johnny Cade
Act I (Opening and Evidence)
Johnny Cade should be charged with Voluntary Manslaughter towards Bob Sheldon. In this night Mr.
Cade stabbed Mr. Sheldon to death mercilessly. After Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade were walking
with Sherri Valance and her friend Marcia. Bob and Randy saw that they were walking with their
girlfriends and they became upset, but peacefully took them in their car. Ponyboy and Johnny returned
to the park and fell asleep. When Ponyboy returned home his brother became mad and roughly
smacked him across the face with the back of his hand. Feeling betrayed Ponyboy returned to the lot
with Johnny and they ran away. They relaxed and came to the park to talk. Mr. Sheldon and Randy
approached with friends and expressed their anger with Ponyboy and Johnny. Ponyboy retaliated
calling the peaceful Bob and Randy White trash . Naturally, being angered by this response Bob and
Randy chased Ponyboy and Johnny around a bit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Defense Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, he didn t mean to kill Bob Sheldon. He knew that he was

Act III (Closing Statement)
Johnny Cade should with no doubt be convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter against Bob Sheldon. If
any of the blaring pieces of evidence presented were to change your mind, then the fact that neither
Ponyboy Curtis or Johnny Cade were likely going to be hurt. After Ponyboy and Johnny angered the
boys by taking their girlfriends on a walk, disrespectfully falling asleep in a public lot, running away
from home, taking advantage of people under the influence of alcohol, killing someone, stowing away
on a train, and hiding illegally, we all see no reason to not arrest Johnny

The Frog King Symbolism
The Frog King has a lot of symbolism and lessons? Written within it. One of the big things I believe
this story was written for was to show the young girls reading it that arranged marriage wasn t that
bad. At first the girl is detested by the frog, but is still forced to honor her promise by her father. She
still despises the frog until she either kisses him or is thrown against the wall, depending on the
version, and changes into a handsome prince. This just goes to show forced marriages can still turn out
good and it isn t as bad as it first seems. I also believe the gold ball could further symbolize arranged
marriage. Gold is often a color that is associated with wealth and the girl looses her favorite toy which
is the golden ball. I believe in some situations this could show how her family lost their wealth and is
marrying the daughter off to a frog king to get it back. Similar to how the frog retrieves her golden
ball, he returns the wealth to her/ her family. The gold ball could also symbolize a couple other things.
Gold is used to make jewelry and other valuable things, but nots in it raw form. The young immature
princess hasn t been shaped into a person yet, similar to the unshaped gold ball. She is without her
own morals or ideas, she promises to the frog she will let him sleep with her and is more than willing
to break this promise if not for the stern words of her parents to honor her word. Many fairy tales
involve this theme of a young/beautiful

Satire In Wizard Of Oz And A Modest Proposal
Satire has been a part of literature as long as there has been chaos in the world. Two of the most
famous satire pieces are The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and A Modest Proposal by Jonathan
Swift. Both author s lives can be directly tied to the theme of finding your way home in The Wizard of
Oz. The Wizard of Oz begins with Dorothy accidentally finding herself in the magical land of Oz after
a tornado blows her away. She immediately wants to leave and return to her home in Kansas. She
starts a journey to meet the Wizard of Oz who can supposedly grant her wish. Along the way she
meets several friends who want The Wizard to fix their problems as well. One of the infamous
characters was the Scarecrow. While resting on their travels to the Emerald City, Scarecrow asks
Dorothy why she wishes to return home when Oz is so beautiful. She replies with
No matter how dreary and gray our homes are, we people of flesh and blood would rather live there
than in any other country, be it ever so beautiful. There is no place like home. (Baum, Chapter 4)
Dorothy thinks that she would be better off away from home before she even arrives in Oz, but as
soon as there is a chance that she may not be able to return, she misses it severely. Even though Oz is
whimsical and exciting, it just does not compare to her home. ... Show more content on

Frank Baum s life can relate to Dorothy s adventures in The Wizard of Oz. He was privileged as a
child, so he was allowed to focus more on the arts than manual labour or a trade. After Baum left
school, he started writing, his main work at first being on his self produced newspaper, The Rose
Lawn Home Journal. He also wrote a five act play called The Maid of Arran while traveling with a
Shakespearean troupe. After marrying Maud Gage in 1883, Baum started to stray away from writing.
From this point on, every time that he tried to keep a job that was not directly related to storytelling,
he was met with scant success. (Contemporary Authors

Henry And Bronfenbrenner Essay
Kelly (1994) and Henry and Rickman (2007) apply similar conceptual frameworks of concentric
circles based on the ecological theory of Bronfenbrenner. Despite different research questions,
participants, methods, these two research projects are built on the same theoretical assumption that
human behaviors and the consequences of their behaviors are the outcomes of human interactions with
their own context. According to Bronfenbrenner s theory, each person is located in the core circle
entitled microsystems which often includes that person s family, school, peers, etc. Outside the
microsystem is the mesosystems where the interactions of related people in the microsystem conduct
with each other. In the next layer, exosystems, there are boarder communities that the person lives in,
for example, her/his neighborhood, the health care system, and so on. Macrosystems which are the
outer layer, refer to high level structures such as culture and subcultures, economic systems. ... Show

In addition to the primary interest in peer effects, which are embedded in the microsystems, Henry and
Rickman (2007) also measure potential factors from different circles. Also locating in the
microsystems, child characteristics, such as previous score, gender, race, and family characteristics,
such as income, education obtainment, and so on, are measured. In the larger layers, the researchers
examine the influence of program type and school inputs on children s skill test outcomes. It appears
that in this study and others on children s development, researchers often focus on the microsystems
and mesosystems while outer layers are rarely mentioned ( Handout: Understanding children in

African American Males And Capital Punishment
African American Males and Capital Punishment We simply cannot say we live in a country that
offers equal justice to all Americans when racial disparities plague the system by which our society
imposes the ultimate punishment. (Senator Russ Feingold, 2003). It has been proven that death
sentencing across the USA is determined by the race of the victim and race of the defendant. In 1990,
there was a report from the General Accounting office which concluded that those who murdered
whites were more likely to be sentenced to death than those who murdered blacks. (Focus, 2003) This
injustice amongst us are because people are scared and don t know. They don t know whether a black
man is pulling out a gun, their phone, wallet, etc. So just to remain safe, they retaliate by killing our
men. Society has grown to function on the fear of black men. Capitalism and the imprisonment of
black people have become profitable. They ve made a big business to just imprison black men. Black
men are inheritably a threat to the capitalist structure of America, it protects their money, their politics,
and their society. James Eagan Holmes, a 26 year old male from San Diego California, is the accused
perpetrator of a mass shooting that killed 12 and murdered 70 people at a Century movie theater in

Experimental Research And Experimental Methods
Experimental
To be competitive as renewable energy recourse turbines in wave energy generation must be robust
and economical for a number of years. Approaches utilize experiments to characterize and predict the
effect of parameters involved. One of which is advancements to turbine blades due to unsteady
hydrodynamic loads. Characterizing these loads can determine their fatigue life and determine a more
reliable material to be used for manufacturing the blades avoiding premature failure. Reliability is
necessary due to most renewable wave energy devices are being placed in remote locations where it is
not economical to maintain or replace failed hardware. Turbulent flow across the turbine blade creates

This loading in a circular motion is associated with yet another type of loading which is dynamic
inflow.
The objective of recent experiments is to study and experimentally quantify the unsteady loads on a
horizontal axis turbine blade from turbulent forces with similar operating conditions in which the
boundary layer is maintained along the edges of the blades. Therefore a new data set was to be
obtained providing bending moment responses to oscillatory frequencies and velocity amplitudes. By
performing a series of multi frequency and half sinusoidal experiments may demonstrate whether
single frequency forcing could be applied to model these more general responses2. A recent article
titled Blade Loading on Tidal Turbines for Uniform Unsteady Flow2 performs the experiment with
valid materials and methods in order to better predict this phenomenon of turbulent loads and fatigue
life along with the results of the experiment.
Another recent experimental approach is decreasing cost per installed kilowatt. In order to utilize
alternative energy such as wave energy it must be as cheap or as cost effective as current energy
sources such as fossil fuels. Harnessing energy from alternative sources and then converting the
energy into electrical energy would reduce the demand of current processes. Worldwide ocean power
capacity is approximately 6 Megawatts and over the next few years it is projected to increase to 35
Megawatts3. For this reason

How Did John Hancock Influence The Declaration Of...
John Hancock was a patriot, merchant, and signer of the Declaration of Independence. He was one of
the original instigators of the American Revolution, and he led the Second Continental Congress to
sign the document that declared complete freedom from the British. John Hancock was very important
in establishing the country that stands today, and he encouraged the people of Boston to see the
tyranny of the British. () John Hancock over qualifies for a position in the History Hall of fame due to
his influence in the American Revolution, his role in the Continental Congress, and his signing of the
Declaration of Independence. John Hancock was born on January 12, 1737. He became an orphan
upon the death of his father until his wealthy uncle adopted him and put Hancock to work. His uncle

Boston, Massachusetts at the time. (John Hancock) John Hancock s uncle became mortally sick in

Because of this incident and Hancock s wealth and high social standing, the royal officials decided to
dissolve the case rather than deal with the consequences of a full trial. The results of this conflict
caused John Hancock to support the Boston Tea Party and their motives and for Hancock to be seen as

no attempt, as romantic heroes, to romance the object of their affection. Furthermore, despite the
Knight s tale being a romance, its center is more on the competition between the two men as opposed
to the relationship Emily would have with one of them. Chaucer devotes two pages to their argument

The word faire implies that he is using the language of romances to his advantage. The reader is told
the Nicholas is a scholar and a well read one at that. It wouldn t be stretch to say that he then would
use his knowledge of romantic tradition to successfully seduce. The odd parallel mentioned before has
to do with how we map the characters. At face value we can say that Nicholas is Arcite s counterpart
and that Absolon is Palamon s but that doesn t match story wise as Nicholas is the one who wins
Alison s favor while Alcite dies and Palamon is the one who marries Emily but Absolon is farted on.
Could this an attempt by Chaucer to comment on ineffectiveness of genuine romantic sensibilities?
That only a simulacrum of romance referenced from texts is more applicable and successful.
Next is a look of motifs that Chaucer made both tales share or manipulated to further prove a point. As
I mentioned just earlier it is how both tales end that messes up character mapping and while I

Neutral Subscale Research
To properly understand the research question frame, we must explore the instrument in general and the
methodological critiques that led to the short form used in this study. Also of note is the research
focusing solely on the masculine and feminine subscales to the exclusion of the social desirability
scale. We will briefly explore specific BSRI applications with respect to variables other than gender
(e.g. race ethnicity). We will proceed with a literature review specifically focused on neutral subscale
research and use.
BSRI Development Background and the Social Desirability Scale Bem (1974) developed the Bem Sex
Role Inventory to measure three constructs: Masculinity, Femininity, and Androgyny. The original
form consisted of 60 items divided into three subscales that measured a person s masculinity,

Twenge (1997) suggested that scores on the masculine subscale, and the feminine subscale to a lesser
degree, have rose over time with respect to gender. The rise was attributed to effects from culture and
environmental factors leading women to identify with more masculine personality traits (Twenge,
1997). Auster and Ohm (2000) explored the measures in a contemporary American setting to assess
score validity since the original BSRI was introduced 25 years earlier. The findings suggested that
there was little change in validity for feminine scores but a significant change in the masculine
constructs between the 1972 population and the 1999 population. Additionally, in the intervening 25
years, mean scores for masculine items rose while mean scores for feminine items fell (Auster Ohm,
2000). As with most BSRI studies, scores were provided for the masculine and feminine items, yet
social desirability scores were

Human Body Art
The human body is a significant object in the art of all the periods of human life. Since the time when
people started to use tools and made first steps in the art they always tried to depict human body. The
human figure has been represented in various forms such as sculptures and paintings (Morphy, 2014).
Various civilizations, however, are different in their representation of human figures and the reasons of
the art representation are also different. To understand these motives only visual analysis is not enough
but learning the cultural and historical shreds of evidence behind these artworks is necessary. I chose
two artworks to analyze, Marble Statue of a Wounded Amazon and Hatshepsut Seated.

Taylor s Scientific Management Principles in Current...
Firstly, big companies are often divided into several departments to focus on specialization, since the
change in structure allows them to divide the tasks of the whole organization into manageable sub
tasks and allocates them to organisational units that are responsible for their completion (Rollinson,
2005: 461). However, when the organization s structure does not include specialized jobs concerned
with analysing the environment, the companies usually fail to adapt to changing circumstances (ibid:
463). So, scientific management works better with small companies which do not usually need to react
to change (Caldari, 2007: 74). This lack of flexibility, the main defect attributed to the Fordism model

CHRM´s responsibilities involve, among others, job design, staff selection, training and motivation
and job performance criteria, all of which were Taylor s contributions (Bell and Martin, 2012: 107).
Thus, following Taylor s ideas, organizations in our days make huge efforts to hire the right people to
a position and to train them to develop their skills (Mckinnon, 2010: 1). One example could be human
resources policies in consulting firms, which focus on hiring unexperienced workers with great
potential and, then, train and develop their skills so that they can make very valuable workers for a
low cost (Babío et al, 2007: 50).
3. Bringing the scientifically designed job and the scientifically designed workers together (Rollinson,
2005: 9).
This Principle translates into ensuring that all work is done in accordance to the principles of the
developed science. Even though the basic job of a manager is to guarantee that an organization
achieves its goals, a key aspect to take into account is making sure that employees are performing
their tasks so that they contribute to the accomplishment of organization s goals (Certo, 2003: 3 4),
and this involves monitoring performance and making the necessary corrections (ibid: 11).

Method used by executives to encourage the role of innovation in a workplace
Any good manager will recognize the need to innovate and grows the business skills to increase their
creativity. Encouraging the utilization of innovation in a place of work, is crucial to attempt and
concede new things seeing that it facilitate the organisation for further opportunities in relation with
the businesses. What works for whom under what circumstances? Putting these words into
unpretentious, this question and the influence of what works section of the question essentially
demonstrates effectiveness of the apparatus, procedure, performance, processes, and methods of
innovation. Associates and individuals who manage and lead organizations generally concentrate on
and pay more attention on what works. Therefore several of these efforts have created dissatisfaction
results because the methods to facilitate were applied with very modest or no consideration for the
individuals involved, associating for whom or the detailed of irreplaceable conditions or perspective,
stating under what circumstances. For this reason when manager or leaders in organisations are
encouraging the concept of innovation, have to express what that s exploiting to the process, work is

Easter Island Downfall
Adaptive Failure: Easter s End was written by Jared Diamond and was featured in Discover Magazine
in August of 1995, this article was mainly written to discuss the rise and fall of the Easter Island
civilization. Easter Island is the world s most isolated habitable land, more than 2,200 miles from the
nearest continent (South America), and 1,400 miles from the nearest habitable island (Pitcairn).
Diamond concluded that the rise of the Easter Island civilization was around 400 A.D. when the
Polynesian ancestors of the Easter Island people. Diamond stated that when the Polynesian ancestors
arrived the island was covered with heavily forested and fertile land, however by the 1400 s the forest

thought it was interesting that many people believe the works literally just dropped their tools where

up to 82 tons. However, some of the abandon ones that were under construct that were found stood up

feet long and 10 feet high weighing up to 10 tons.Another extremely astonishing thing I liked was that
the statues were transported many miles with no draft animals with just manpower, and no wheels.
Another extremely interesting thing was that in 1770 there were over 200 statues standing and by
1864 the islanders pulled all of them

Consciousness Arguments Against Turing s Test
The consciousness argument is the strongest objection against the Turing s test. Machines act by
interpreting symbols based on given rules. If they follow rules and interprets symbols, then the
programmers influence their actions, not their own thoughts and feelings. Since their own thoughts
and feelings do not influence their actions, they are not truly aware of how these actions can affect
their emotions and the surroundings. If machines are not aware of their behaviors, they are not
conscious. Without consciousness, machines cannot have minds. Therefore, the Turing s test is not
sufficient to prove that machines can think. Turing doesn t respond directly to each premises of this
argument, instead he responds to its conclusion that machines are not conscious. To begin with, Turing
follows the consciousness objection s line of thought and states that the only possible method to know
if a machine can think or not is to literally become that machine. Similarly, the only possible method
to know if a person can think or not is to literally be that person. According to Turing, these statements
represent the perspective of solipsism, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The machines can now give oral responses instead of written responses, also known as a viva voce .
Humans conclude that they have conscious through their conversations about feelings. If humans can
conclude through that method, then it is possible for machines to do it too (?). If a machine can have
intelligent conversation with the judges about its work or creation, then that machine is aware of its
action. If a machine is aware of its action, then it is conscious which also means it has a mind. Lastly,
Turing believes that the concept of consciousness is not relevant to his question about whether a
machine can pass the imitation game. The result of the test is not affected by consciousness

Running head: PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDERS PRESENTATION Psychological Disorders
Presentation Debra Baker University of Phoenix Introduction to Behavioral Science BEH/225
Katherine Malish June 23, 2010 Psychological Disorders Presentation For many millennia
psychological disorders, also called mental disorders have been misunderstood. Used to, people
suffering from such disorders were thought to be demonically possessed or they were accused of being
a witch. Many of these unfortunate people were burned, tortured, or locked up away from society,
which was torturous in itself due to the deprivation of life sustaining necessities such as food and air
that patients were forced to endure (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Since ... Show more content on

Treatment of schizophrenic disorders involves taking drugs that are meant to decrease dopamine
amounts in the brain and to block dopamine receptors (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Personality
disorders are characteristic of a person s inability to adapt or be flexible to their environment through
their way of thinking and behavior. People with personality disorders include unconventional people,
as well as people who kill in cold blood serial killers for example (Morris and Maisto, 2002). A type of
personality disorder is paranoid personality disorder for which the person suffering from this cannot
trust anyone and is highly suspicious all the time. Most people with this disorder believe themselves to
be sensible and objective, but in reality they are argumentative, devious, secretive, and unable to take
the blame for their wrong doing (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Personality disorders are thought to be
aided by family, as well as community influences. For example, a child who feels rejected or
unwanted by a family member(s) will act out, taking his or her aggressions out in an unacceptable
manner such as defying rules and regulations at school or within the community (Morris and Maisto,
2002). Sexual disorders are classified into three main groups paraphilias, sexual dysfunction, and
gender identity disorders. Paraphilias disorder is the need to use unconventional objects to achieve
sexual arousal. Gender identity disorders

Erice Breaks Themes
Growing up means more responsibility and more expectations from people around you. Nowadays the
expectations we have to one another keeps getting higher. This means that a larger group of people
will be having a harder time living up to these expectations. For instance, more children at school will
be searching for a way to live up to the expectations. To do this they will have to face challenges that
might be too hard, for someone with lack of self confidence and responsibility this will be a challenge
with many failures.
In the short story, Ernie Breaks written by Genevieve Scott the main theme is also about expectation
and responsibility towards a child. We follow a girl that is troubling with responsibility and cannot
carry her expectations. The main character and narrator is the girl called Cara and is at age ten, while
the story takes place. Cara just passed fourth grade and the mother wants her and the brother to have a
passing present , which at the end becomes a turtle. One day Cara enters the brother s room and she
finds herself in an intense situation, where the brother and his friend play around with the turtle Ernie,

where she nearly makes a candidate for the Special Ed room, which means that she is close to get

responsibility at the start when she says that she wants a puppy. We also see that, when she tries to
save the turtle from her brother. Cara is a typical child that is expected to be more than she can handle,
this leads to several events, where she tries to be responsible but fails. The failure can be hard for a
child, in Cara s case it makes her lose self confidence, in the end she does not even care about it
anymore, and she has given up, if it s Mrs Calorie or Mrs Arsenault, I really don t

Informative Essay On Skiing
Skiing Do you like to downhill ski? Who doesn t like a little rush of adrenaline? It feels good! Skiing
is a worldwide sport and pastime, but how much do you really know about it? My subtopics include:
the history of skiing, who skied first, and the best places to ski. Journey into the whipping wind and
flying snow to find out how and why skiing really started! Many people say that skiing originally
originated in the Atlay mountains in 8000 BC. Some say it didn t start until much later in that region
(National Geographic). The skis are very different than today s, they are closer to eight feet long and
made of wood, fur, and horse hair. They had one pole to keep their balance, not two. The skis varied in
size over the years, the largest being a huge twelve feet long and the smallest being about two and a
half feet long. The people from older times used the skis to travel faster on snow to catch animals by
catching up to them. They have greatly changed from a hunting tactic to a very exciting sport and
pastime, it has greatly evolved. But who first started it? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These places are thought to be the areas of origin because of paintings preserved in bogs and rock. The
paintings that have been found are all very different in how the skier is depicted. They range from
things that look very much like actual skiing to ones that are hard to identify but have been assumed to
be some sort of skiing. Though the origin of skiing is debated, it is no doubt that it is a popular activity

Positive Effects Of Irrationality
How do you feel when you hear that you re an irrational customer? Maybe, you might feel angry and
irritated for being a irrational customer as many people think the irrationality is the worst and most
unnecessary human failure that leads only negative results forever. However, this view toward
irrationality has to be changed. Even though there are negative results of irrationality, there are lots of
positive effects of it. Of course, as the irrational consumption is not intended, it can make you use
more money, but, at the same time, it can increase the whole consumption over the country, which is
really necessary and important for an economic growth. Then why is increasing the whole
consumption important? It s because, in the economy, the whole consumption is almost same with the
overall demand, and as you know, it makes more industries and markets in economical terms, more ...

As I have already showed how irrational these cases are, from now on, I d like to show you that it s
unquestionable that human irrationality really helps our stagnant economy to go on. You might
remember my statement that the increase of consumption does increase the supply and lead to the end
of depression. Does this really happen? Of course! In these days, many people love to pull out the
dolls from the claw machine. And in fact, the immediate urge to play the claw machine makes them do
so even though buying the doll in the shop is more rational. This is why playing claw machine is
irrational. And, according to KBS news, this irrational behavior has increased the demand for doll
30% since last autumn. In other words, suppliers of claw machine have bought the dolls in order to
increase their supply. And this means that the human irrationality has thrived the claw machine
industry and doll industry, even if the whole markets are in the economic

Glaciers Are Formed By Ice Erosion
Glaciers are essentially frozen rivers. They are common in the Northern Hemisphere as well as at high
altitude.
Glaciers don t erode quickly, but over a long period of time they can cause drastic changes.
Did you know that Glacial lakes are formed by ice erosion?
The glacier carves out a ditch in the earth and the glacial water melts and is left behind, and when the
glacier is moving, it collects rocks with it.
A Glacier s weight, combined with its gradual movement means that the glaciers can change the land
and make unique land forms. The three processes by which glaciation effects and changes landscape is
erosion, transportation and deposition. Did you know that when water freezes,it gets bigger and
expands, then it will break the rock. This type of erosion is called the freeze thaw. ... Show more

There are two important processes of glacial erosion. The first process is called plucking, Plucking
occurs when cracked and broken rocks are frozen and stuck into glaciers. As a glacier moves over the
landscape, water melts under the glacier and gets into cracks within the underlying bedrock. The water
freezes and melts, weakening the bonds holding pieces of bedrock in place. These pieces of rock can
now be plucked from their rocky base and carried along with the moving glacier.
Glaciers have carved out a number of important geographic

What Are The Advantages Of Safety Culture
Advantages of Developing a Safety Aware Atmosphere within the Place of work
Safety within the place of work is going through change: changing from an optional extra to some
compliance necessity, firms are actually progressively realizing the numerous advantages of
developing, and carrying out to, a powerful safety culture. These vary from elevated staff morale and
elevated productivity, to reduced injuries related costs, competitive insurance rates and enhanced
turnover profits and status.
However, encouraging a culture of safety involves greater than mere lip service. Safety orientated
values, lengthy term obligations to firm wide safety, and consistent concrete actions determines which
organisations will reap the rewards of making and looking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Any actions, however small, which decision makers or managers decide to try encourage, promote or
support safety within the place of work may have an optimistic knock on impact on all personnel.
(Like a corollary, positive verbal communication may have little impact if it s not supported by
similarly positive actions.) The very best actions which senior staff people may take are individuals
which overtly reward safety oriented behavior in other people. This, above all else, will be sending a
note of the significance of safety towards the organisation.
Altogether, a firm s safety culture is a mix of its values, communications and, most importantly, its
actions.
Working on your Firm s Safety Culture
All firms possess a safety culture however, not every have an optimistic one. Before you do something
to build up your firms, you have to figure out what kind of safety culture has already been in position.
Identify Your Personal Culture
The initial step is to talk with the personnel assigned using the organisation s safety the right manager
or consultant. This gives feedback on which the firm would ideally wish its values to become. The
truth, however, might be quite different, and may simply be evaluated in the ground up: by interacting
with all of staff people, and determining their awareness from the organisation s safety

I Believe Vision And College Alumni Into Accelerating...
Introduction
I believe vision promotes and excels college alumni into accelerating career pathways that promote
autonomy, innovation, and leadership expressed independently and as a team. Fostering the next
generation builds the framework for the assumptions relied upon to support the community needs for
career ready hires. In addition, vision aligns personal beliefs and career goals as a career services,
director. I would articulate, steward, and promote this vision to foster alignment with stakeholders
students, parents, and community leaders. In turn, encouraging career goals through exploration
through desires, needs, individual values, behavior and actions. Simply the opportunity to lead in
providing students with tools to make strategic and informed decisions about the career paths.
Articulating a Vision I believe collaborative planning with faculty, career development officers, and
hiring recruiters from a shared governance perspective. In addition, to articulating, developing and
rolling out the vision and prompting feedback to measure those expected outcomes. I would start by
communicating with those who teach, requesting structured curriculum to incorporate career
opportunities relative to their courses. The effective avenues to reach the masses would include
forums, press releases, college open houses, career fairs, website presence, faculty retreats, courses
and college wide updates all areas requiring community/workforce collaboration.

Chinese Culture And Its Effects On The Country s Economy...
Chinese Culture
According to Zimmermann (2015), Culture is the distinctive features and knowledge of a specific
group of people, outlined by everything from cuisine, social habits, language, religion, arts, and music.
The Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition takes it a step further, defining culture as
mutual patterns of behaviors and interactions, cognitive constructs and understanding that are learned
by. In this manner, culture can be seen as the growth of a group individuality fostered by social
structures unique to the group socializing (Center for Advanced Research on Language Acquisition,
2014).
China is one of the most complex nations in the world. From its numerous aspects of culture to its
intricate physical geography and storied military history. My paper will provide a brief view of the
nation s language, music, religion, cuisine, and arts. I will also provide a weather analysis and how its
effects on the country s economy and civil considerations.
Language
The language in China is Standard Chinese regionally referred to Putonghua, which is based on the
Beijing, or Mandarin, dialect. A few other dialects used in China include Wu (Shanghaiese), Yue
(Cantonese), Minnan (Hokkien Taiwanese), Xiang, Gan, Hakka, and more. Other regions of China
particularly Tibet, for example, implement a peculiar language that has no relevance to China in any
way. However, Mandarin Chinese is considered to be China s official language it s universally implied

Unquestionably based upon the acquired research, it can be seen that Marriage Equality is an inevitable social change to come in the following years in Australian society. (__) Gay Marriage in the past few years has been a topic that has been highly debated and discussed. As with any controversial issue, there are two sides to this argument. One side, the opposition, cites religious view points and concerns about fornication and further raisse concerns that the rights of marriage should be restricted to heterosexual couples (Debate.org). An increasing number on this side of the argument have recently changed their opinions over the last few years as a result of mounting pressure from LGBTI groups. People supporting marriage equality assert that marriage is a civil right and therefore should not have restrictions based on sexual orientation. This side firmly believes that love, not sexual orientation, is grounds enough for marriage (Debate.org). • 4. How Mark A Book By Mortimer J. Adler How to Mark a Book by Mortimer J. Adler. How to Mark a Book by Mortimer J. Adler is an essay over the author s belief on the importance of marking or writing inside a book. Adler s primary purpose is persuasive. He writes to convince the reader to partake in writing in one s own books when reading to become more efficient. Adler s secondary purpose is expressive because of the way he describes his least favorite type of reader: There are three kinds of book owners. The first has all the standard sets and best sellers unread, untouched. This deluded individual owns woodpulp and ink, not books (17 6). Adler uses a couple of patterns during his essay. The first pattern is description. He explains that the true value of a book is in its ideas: The soul of a book can be separated from its body. A book is more like the score of a piece of music than it is like a painting (17 8). Adler then uses a comparison/contrast pattern to enlighten the reader about the three kinds of book owners. His least favorite type of reader was mention earlier in the analysis. The second type of book owner has many books but they have no written notes or markings by the owner. This owner is, compared to the next type in Alder s eyes, still not a true book owner. The third and most desired type of book owner, according to Alder, has: ... a few books or many every one of them dog eared and dilapidated, shaken and loosened by continual use, marked and scribbled in from front to back. ... • 6. The Frog King Symbolism The Frog King has a lot of symbolism and lessons? Written within it. One of the big things I believe this story was written for was to show the young girls reading it that arranged marriage wasn t that bad. At first the girl is detested by the frog, but is still forced to honor her promise by her father. She still despises the frog until she either kisses him or is thrown against the wall, depending on the version, and changes into a handsome prince. This just goes to show forced marriages can still turn out good and it isn t as bad as it first seems. I also believe the gold ball could further symbolize arranged marriage. Gold is often a color that is associated with wealth and the girl looses her favorite toy which is the golden ball. I believe in some situations this could show how her family lost their wealth and is marrying the daughter off to a frog king to get it back. Similar to how the frog retrieves her golden ball, he returns the wealth to her/ her family. The gold ball could also symbolize a couple other things. Gold is used to make jewelry and other valuable things, but nots in it raw form. The young immature princess hasn t been shaped into a person yet, similar to the unshaped gold ball. She is without her own morals or ideas, she promises to the frog she will let him sleep with her and is more than willing to break this promise if not for the stern words of her parents to honor her word. The Wizard of Oz begins with Dorothy accidentally finding herself in the magical land of Oz after a tornado blows her away. She immediately wants to leave and return to her home in Kansas. She starts a journey to meet the Wizard of Oz who can supposedly grant her wish. Along the way she meets several friends who want The Wizard to fix their problems as well. One of the infamous characters was the Scarecrow. While resting on their travels to the Emerald City, Scarecrow asks Dorothy why she wishes to return home when Oz is so beautiful. She replies with No matter how dreary and gray our homes are, we people of flesh and blood would rather live there than in any other country, be it ever so beautiful. There is no place like home. (Baum, Chapter 4) Dorothy thinks that she would be better off away from home before she even arrives in Oz, but as soon as there is a chance that she may not be able to return, she misses it severely. Despite different research questions, participants, methods, these two research projects are built on the same theoretical assumption that human behaviors and the consequences of their behaviors are the outcomes of human interactions with their own context. According to Bronfenbrenner s theory, each person is located in the core circle entitled microsystems which often includes that person s family, school, peers, etc. Outside the microsystem is the mesosystems where the interactions of related people in the microsystem conduct with each other. Firstly, big companies are often divided into several departments to focus on specialization, since the change in structure allows them to divide the tasks of the whole organization into manageable sub tasks and allocates them to organisational units that are responsible for their completion (Rollinson, 2005: 461). However, when the organization s structure does not include specialized jobs concerned with analysing the environment, the companies usually fail to adapt to changing circumstances (ibid: 463). If they follow rules and interprets symbols, then the programmers influence their actions, not their own thoughts and feelings. Since their own thoughts and feelings do not influence their actions, they are not truly aware of how these actions can affect their emotions and the surroundings. If machines are not aware of their behaviors, they are not conscious. Without consciousness, machines cannot have minds. Therefore, the Turing s test is not sufficient to prove that machines can think. Turing doesn t respond directly to each premises of this argument, instead he responds to its conclusion that machines are not conscious. If a machine is aware of its action, then it is conscious which also means it has a mind. Lastly, Turing believes that the concept of consciousness is not relevant to his question about whether a machine can pass the imitation game. Used to, people suffering from such disorders were thought to be demonically possessed or they were accused of being a witch. Treatment of schizophrenic disorders involves taking drugs that are meant to decrease dopamine amounts in the brain and to block dopamine receptors (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Personality disorders are characteristic of a person s inability to adapt or be flexible to their environment through their way of thinking and behavior. People with personality disorders include unconventional people, as well as people who kill in cold blood serial killers for example (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Most people with this disorder believe themselves to be sensible and objective, but in reality they are argumentative, devious, secretive, and unable to take the blame for their wrong doing (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Personality disorders are thought to be aided by family, as well as community influences. For example, a child who feels rejected or unwanted by a family member(s) will act out, taking his or her aggressions out in an unacceptable manner such as defying rules and regulations at school or within the community (Morris and Maisto, 2002). Sexual disorders are classified into three main groups paraphilias, sexual dysfunction, and gender identity disorders. Glaciers don t erode quickly, but over a long period of time they can cause drastic changes. Did you know that Glacial lakes are formed by ice erosion? The glacier carves out a ditch in the earth and the glacial water melts and is left behind, and when the glacier is moving, it collects rocks with it. A Glacier s weight, combined with its gradual movement means that the glaciers can change the land and make unique land forms. The three processes by which glaciation effects and changes landscape is erosion, transportation and deposition.
