Essay On Transgender
Writing an essay on the topic of transgender issues is undeniably challenging, requiring a
delicate balance of empathy, accuracy, and respect. It demands a comprehensive understanding
of the complexities surrounding gender identity, social dynamics, and the struggles faced by
transgender individuals. Researching and navigating through the myriad of perspectives, cultural
contexts, and historical backgrounds is a daunting task that necessitates a nuanced approach.
Moreover, crafting an essay on transgender topics requires the ability to address the subject with
sensitivity while avoiding stereotypes or stigmatization. It involves delving into the evolving
terminology and conceptual frameworks related to gender identity, staying abreast of the latest
developments in the field. Navigating the fluidity of language and the evolution of societal
attitudes towards transgender issues adds an additional layer of complexity.
The emotional aspect of the topic further complicates the writing process. Balancing the need for
objective analysis with an empathetic understanding of the personal experiences of transgender
individuals demands a high level of writing skill and emotional intelligence. Writers must strive
to amplify authentic voices, share narratives responsibly, and contribute to fostering an inclusive
and supportive dialogue.
In conclusion, composing an essay on transgender topics is an intricate task that requires a
thorough understanding of the subject matter, a nuanced approach to language and cultural
contexts, and a commitment to respectful and empathetic representation. It is a journey that
involves constant learning, adaptation, and an ongoing commitment to staying informed about
the evolving landscape of transgender issues.

Why Do I Like Jack The Ripper Essay
Why do I like jack the ripper? That is a very hard question. It s so many reasons.
Jack was a mystery. I find it so fascinating how he killed five women, but didn t get
caught. London police used all the resources they had, and he didn t get caught. That
s fascinating. Since the first murder found place in 1888, many authors have made
stories about Jack. And it has been made stories in many different styles. From
biography s, to essays, to crime novels. Therefore I find it difficult to write about just
one authors writing style. So I have decided to write about the characteristic from the
authors who have made stories about Jack.
In all the stories that have been made about jack, there is one thing that every author
uses. That is description. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I know that you have a lot of question. I will try to answer them in this letter. First
question you all are wondering, why are you killing immigrants? First off, I want
give you all the answers. Because it s rather fun to see people going insane trying to
figure it out. I don t want to give too much information. But I am against the political
views on refuges. And one way to protest, it s to kill the people that are let into our
country. I am not mistaken, when I am saying that maybe half of the Norwegians
people are not so angry about what I have done. It s like a demonstration. I am the
spokesman, but the rest have my back. This is where we are in today s society.
And someone needed to go against the refuges. And I don t regret. I would have
done the same over again. And I am not a psychopath. I am just a Norwegian. A
Norwegian that have turned the bright Konnerud, into a dark city. A Norwegians
that have showed you, what the politicians can expect when they accept refuges. It
s going to be fights. Between example Odin s soldiers, and Allah s soldiers. It is
going to be a war. It is going to be a nightmare. It is going to be hell. So do something

Analysis Of Dave Barry s Guys Vs.
A short essay Guys vs. Men written by Dave Barry, presents Dave s perception on
the difference between Guys and Men . Dave presents his essay in a comical way
that generalizes the men vs. guys and also gender biased generalization. Dave argues
that men hold too much of responsibilities and many expectations in which guys do
not and they live happier life. One of the methods he uses to support his argument is
a comparison. Other method he uses is the description of how he views men vs. guys
and gives his perspective. And the last method he uses to further his argument is the
use of hyperbole, exaggerationthrough out the essay.
First method of development Dave uses to further his argument is a comparision and
gender biased generalization. His temptation to buy new and unnecessary things just
because he is a guy can be compared when he compares females urge to rearrange
furniture with males urge of using newest and latest technical equipments. Dave
separates guys and women by giving their choice that is somewhat statistically true,
that women are more interested in decorating house oppose to buying latest version
of technical items. Dave s use of logos play significant role here to support his
argument. Not only he compares guys and women, but also guys with his auxiliary
dog. (919). He compares that guys do not follow rules even though they know they
are not suppose to do things they do, just like his small auxiliary backup dog. Dave
is saying that his
Sherlock Holmes Reasoning
The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes. The
world changes and new cases appear every day like in the novel series of the The
Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Many readers have been very much interested in
Doyle s stories and how he has fabricated Sherlock s form of reasoning or
understanding in cases. These people have created many films depicting Doyle s
stories. In some films such as The Great Mouse Detective and Sherlock Holmes, the
story line is the same as Doyle s original but some names and characters have been
changed. In the films, The Great Mouse Detective and Sherlock Holmes, the story
proceeds the same as a detective solving a seemingly impossible case. In Sherlock
Holmes, Sherlock uses his deductive reasoning to solve a case that has been
brought up that no one knows how to solve. The same follows in The Great Mouse
Detective as Basil has a case brought to him about a missing father. The difference
between the two though is that Sherlock in Sherlock Holmes does proceed his cases
sometimes with much rudeness or is willing to fight his way, physically, through any
of his problems.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Great Mouse Detective, Basil of Baker Street is the lead detective that uses
the help of an assistant named Dawson to solve a mystery. In this same way
Sherlock in Sherlock Holmes is also a detective that uses the help of an assistant
named Watson to solve cases. The difference however is not the same characters
are pulled from the stories. For example, in The Great Mouse Detective the peg
legged man makes an appearance, but in Sherlock Holmes he does not. The
opposite is for Irene Adler, she is in Sherlock Holmes, but not The Great Mouse
Detective. The characters in both stories are idealized from the original story of
Sherlock Holmes but are made to be different because of the audience the characters
are created
Reflective Introduction To Cinema
The larger majority of the Introduction to Cinema 2366 course was viewing films.
Subsequently, the films we viewed in the class have affected me in four gifts of the
humanities. As a student, my interests have developed around the social issues of
classism and racism in America. Therefore, the course has given me food for thought
via films which tackle social issues causing me to rethink the ways I understand these
issues as well as understand filmrhetoric to gain a deeper knowledge of how society
understood these problems. Cinema also allows viewers to gain a sense of the past,
this is especially true of the course since the films we ve watched were opened 1959
or before. In this way, I have been able to understand historical events (such as the
dust bowl, the great depression, and the red scare) through characters who are
relatable, causing me to understand that though time and geography may differ
between me and these characters, there exist timeless truths of humanity. The
course has also allowed me to extend myself intellectually. Before enrolling in this
course, I had little knowledge about cinema and its place in our society. The course
has provided me with a new found appreciation for the art of film which is an
important subject in academia rather than just an elective. Lastly, I have realized the
idea of the infinite person, via this film course. Through the films viewed in class, I
have found myself relating to characters I regularly would not have. For

My First Trip To Las Vegas, Nevada
On February 14, 2015, I went to my first concert. It was also the first time I have
ever visited Las Vegas, Nevada. During this trip, I was 11 years old. Above all the
car drive, the stay, and the concert was a fantastic adventure.
To begin, the drive to Las Vegas was long lasting, but very fun. For example, I had
my sister, cousin, uncle, and my parents, so we listened to music and played games.
This shows that we can have a good time in just a car with one another. This also
shows that we can bond easier because we have the same sense of imagination. In
addition, my sister, cousin, and I were taking videos of each other while everyone
was sleeping. This displays that we can entertain each other when no one else wants
to talk. This also displays that we get along even when we have to sit in a tight
space for a long period of time. In conclusion, the drive was very interesting and
entertaining, although it was very long. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Advantages Of Optimum Design Of Islanded Microgrid
Optimum Design of Islanded Microgrid Based on Life Cycle Cost for Office
Building in Myanmar
Abstract: Renewable energy sources in energy generation can decrease the costs of
system fuel and also can have desirable impact on reliability of system. According to
the weather condition in Myanmar, solar energy is the best renewable energysource
to provide electricity for both urban and rural areas. The islanded microgrid system
optimization that is composed of the photovoltaic (PV) system, battery energy
storage system (BESS), and diesel generation system (DGS) is proposed for fulfilling
the continuous power supply of the office buildings which is situated in Hlaing
Tharyar Township, Yangon division of Myanmar. To evaluate the optimum cost...

A more cost effective approach of electrifying an off grid community is to use a
stand alone microgrid power generation system that utilizes the available renewable
energy resources (RERs)[1]. In this paper, islanded microgrid system is considered
in order to supply the continuous power with the optimum cost for the office
buildings which is situated in Hlaing Tharyar Township, Yangon division of
Myanmar. According to the collected data, the load demand of the proposed area is
approximately about 150 kW and the load demand varies throughout the day. After
that, the stand alone microgrid system is designed regarding to the levelized cost of
energy. The simulation, sensitivity analysis and optimization of microgrid system
have been performed by using HOMER software and Particle Swarm Optimization
(PSO) and the two simulation results are compared to achieve the optimum cost of
the proposed system.
2.ISLANDED MICROGRID:
A more cost effective approach of electrifying an off grid community is to use a
stand alone microgrid power generation system that utilizes the available renewable
energy resources (RERs). Such isolated power generation and distribution systems,
which embed distributed energy resources (DERs), are known as islanded
microgrids (IMGs). An IMG energized mainly by RERs not only reduces the life
cycle cost (LCC) but it also enhances renewable energy penetration (REP) and thus
decreases greenhouse gas emissions [3]. IMGs
Distinguish Between Developed and Developing Countries

3a) What distinguishes a developing country from a developed country (10mks)
ADVICE: All the indicators are examined here with supporting statistics. There won t
be time to include statistics for all the indicators, so you ll include those that you
most easily remember).
Countries can be classified as developed or developing according to the value of the
gross national product (GNP) per capita. A developing countrycan be distinguished
from a developed country by examining indicators such as the size of GDP per capita,
economic structure, population growth, population structure, distribution of income,
employment, trading position, urbanization, technology and provision of
infrastructure.
Low income and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Developing countries are very reliant on the export of primary produce whereas
developed countries export more capital and consumer goods. Developing countries
are vulnerable in their trading relationships because fluctuations in price can
destabilize their economies. Zimbabwe s main exports are cotton and tobacco while
that of the USA includes telecommunications, equipment, automobiles and medicine.
Urbanisation is another indicator of development. Developed countries already
have a high proportion of the population living in urban areas. The developing
countries however still have a high proportion of the population living in rural
areas, but there are rapid rates of rural to urban migration in those economies. In
Zimbabwe 38% of the population live in urban areas and the rate of urbanization is
3.4%. In the USA however 82% of the population live in the urban areas and the rate
of urbanization is much lower at 1.2%.
They can be distinguished by the provision of infrastructure. Infrastructure includes
health education and housing. The developed countries have better infrastructure
than the developed country. The Human Development Indexcombines elements of
health as measured by life expectancy, education and income to assess development.
Life expectancy in Zimbabwe is 51 years whereas it is 78 years in the USA.
Access to technology also differs between the two. 5% of the world s computers are
located in developing countries.
Essay On Low Flight Hours
Unmanned Aircraft Systems have taken the Army by storm. While most units fly
on a regular basis, easily meeting their hourly requirements, and becoming very
proficient at these tasks. There are several National Guard Units that continuously
fail to meet these requirements. I think that if every National Guard Unit was able
to conduct flight operations where they held weekend drills. You would see a
drastic increase in annual hours flown, as well as overall proficiency and retention
of soldiers in these units. Throughout this paper I will discuss HOR (home of
record) unit s flight hour s vs non HOR unit s flight hours. Along with the other
difficulties these units face. I will also discuss the effects that low flight hours have
on soldier s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is my opinion that the above stated problems with the inability to fly, mission
readiness, and proficiency, in turn lead to a negative command relationship. A
negative command relationship could potentially lead to a lack of trust between
leadership. As well as a tension, meaning command may not believe that you are
utilizing all of your Soldiers, therefore they need 4 Soldiers for a detail. However,
based on the UAS MTOE, providing Soldiers for details is practically impossible
and could negatively affect flight operations. Having a positive command
relationship will exponentially increase a Units overall ability to operate
successfully. Based on the above mentioned difficulties associated with conducting
flight operations while not having a flight line at your duty station. I think it is fair
to associate the inability to perform flight ops at a Drill duty station with these
National Guard Units failing to meet their requirements. Thus in turn creating less
proficient soldiers, which can ultimately lead to lack of desire to stay in the
National Guard. Soldiers enlist to perform a job, and without the ability to perform
the desired job comes a lack of interest in being a National

still, changes the life of the woman. In the story, the mother escaped her house and

Introduction To Oedipus The King Analysis
In his essay, Introduction to Oedipus the King , Bernard Knox supports free will by
stating that Oedipus downfall was not caused by fate. According to Knox there is
not a doubt that, Oedipus is the free agent who, by his own self willed action,
discovers that his own predicted destiny has already been fulfilled (86). He clearly
states that Oedipusis responsible for his free actions during the play. He insists that
Oedipus s made the decisions to discover the truth about himself.
Bernard Knox believed that Oedipus Rex freely searched for his truth and not forced
by fate to act on upon it:
Oedipus did have one freedom: he was free to find out or not find out the truth. . .
One freedom has allowed him: the freedom to search for the truth, the truth about the
prophecies, about the gods, about himself. And of this freedom he makes full use.
Against the advice and appeals of others, he pushes on, searching for the truth, the
whole truth and nothing but the truth. . . This freedom to search, and the heroic way
in which Oedipus uses it, . .[is] a heroic example of a man s dedication to the search
for truth, the truth about himself. (89)
Bernard Knox believed that Oedipus had freedom but it ultimately leads to his
own ruin. Knox explains that was able to control if he wanted to find out the truth.
He adds that Oedipus has completely used his freedom to search for the truth about
his prophecies, the gods, and about himself. He said that Oedipus stubbornly
pushed on with the search for his truth against the caution and pled from others.
Knox concluded that Oedipus s ability to search for the truth made the play about a
man s dedication for the truth instead of a tragedy of destiny. Oedipus search for
truth was one of his actions that had no other purpose other than his need to know.
Oedipus was able to make his choices of wanting to learn the truth even though he
was warned not to. His perseverance to find the truths of which he was searching
for, that being his oracles or birth, were what ultimately lead him to his own
demise. Oedipus actions were freely decided and his search for the truth can be
seen as heroic . An example of Oedipus s firm decision to find the truth can be seen
when he chose to ignore
An Analysis of Wilbur s Mayflies Essay
An Analysis of Wilbur s Mayflies
Richard Wilbur s recent poem Mayflies reminds us that the American Romantic
tradition that Robert Frost most famously brought into the 20th century has made it
safely into the 21st. Like many of Frost s short lyric poems, Mayflies describes one
person s encounter with an ordinary but easily overlooked piece of nature in this
case, a cloud of mayflies spotted in a sombre forest (l.1) rising over unseen pools
(l.2), made surprisingly attractive and meaningful by the speaker s special scrutiny of
it. The ultimate attraction of Wilbur s mayflies would appear to be the meaning he
finds in them. This seems to be an unremittingly positive poem, even as it glimpses
the dark subjects of human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
17). More surprising yet, though surely emblems of the ephemeral (of the order
ephemeroptera), they suggest by their choreographed life an interconnectivity in
nature that transcends an individual?s mortality. Indeed, in the third and final
stanza they become a foil for the speaker?s own sense of ?separateness? and
mortality ?as night close[s] in?(l.18). At a literal level the poem all along insists on
the speaker?s separation, as ?witness?(l. 9), from this ?manifold/ And figured
scene?(ll. 13 14). To see the dance so well, he has had to be stationed outside it. This
exclusion, it would seem, is the poet?s classic occupational hazard.
Yet this darker revelation is quickly eclipsed by one last happy irony, a revelation
of sorts: the poem so artfully represents it subject, its conspicuous ingenuities of
form so undulate and glitter like the mist of mayflies, that the poem itself becomes
the mayflies?or means to come as close as language can take it. As a special way
of seeing, the poem means to breech the gulf between seer and thing seen and thus
forge a connection to the object world, the speaker?s own absence from which he
ostensibly laments. That this attempt is successful seems implicit in the last lines
of the poem. There, it occurs to the speaker that his sense of separateness and
mortality can be allayed by the idea that he has been ?called? to be a poetic seer,
?one whose task is joyfully to see/ How fair
Middle East Education
All women should have the right to education in the Middle East. More than 30
million girls are out of primary school age are out of school today(Fund). These
uneducated girls need our help! The Islamic community in the Middle East
developed habits very early. Up until 750 CE, the leading Muslims hired tutors or
owned slaves to teach their sons. Their sons were taught the basics of religion, to
read and write, to use the bow and arrow, to swim, and everyday morals and
manners (Morrison). Their daughters were to learn skills involving the household
and the basics of religion. Sometimes, they would get the opportunity to learn music,
dance, and poetry, as well. Children in rural areas mostly learned how to work the

But the maternal mortality rate is still 327 per 100,000 births far better than in
2002, when it stood at 1,600 per 100,000 ( Liberation ). Although the mortality rate
has gone down drastically since 2002, the mortality rate is still very high. If more
women are educated in their own health and anatomy, childbirth and pregnancy
would be much safer. , it would substantially lower the mortality rate of babies.
Clearly, equal education would improve the health of women in the Middle East.
Additionally, education would help eliminate childhood marriage. If it was
socially acceptable for women to go to school, they wouldn t have to be forced
into marriage to be supported by a man. In Afghanistan 15% of all girls are married
by the age of 15 ( Liberation ). If women are educated, families would be more
successful. This keeps the family of the daughter more successful, as well, and they
wouldn t have to make it a necessity for their daughter to get married right
Comparing Finding Forrester And Breathing Underwater

Breathing Underwater is a novel written by Alex Flinn about a 16 year old boy
named Nick who has been accused of beating his ex girlfriend Caitlin. The book
tackles very serious subjects such as abuse and anger. The movie, Finding Forrester,
is about a young man named Jamal Wallace who undergoes a big life change when
he meets a famous author. In many ways, the novel and the movie seem to mirror and
reflect the familiar elements. However, many differences come up when reviewing
the plot line and different aspects of the two stories. Breathing Underwater and
Finding Forrester are similar and different in their main characters personalities,
families, and writing.

While one may draw parallels to the missing parent figures in our main character s
lives, the role s those parents left seemed to differ in the novel and the film. Nick s
mother s absence seems to be why Nick is so cold hearted. The abuse by Nick s
father can be related to his mother not being present and also his ability to justify
his own personal agenda. Nick seems to victimize himself for everything that
happened to him throughout the book. However, Jamal seems to be better suited
for overcoming obstacles and not whining about them. Jamal s lack of a father
figure seemed to have made him a better person and helped him grow into the
person he is today. He doesn t victimize himself because he, himself, realizes that
his own life is a choice. He takes responsibility for what he does and he grows from
it. Jamal s lack of a father helped him learn, ultimately, that he is the master of his
own fate. Whereas, it took Nick the whole novel to realize this and take responsibility.
Lastly, Breathing Underwater and Finding Forrester are similar in their writing.
Nick and Jamal are both given a gift to write. Writing is a heavily influential theme
made in both the novel and the film. Nick and Jamal use writing as an outlet to
channel their frustration and struggles in their lives. It allows them to grow and
express a sense of individuality, as well as giving them opportunities. In the end of
bothe the novel and the book, both characters used their writing to benefit and help
them advance their lives. Nick gets Tom back and Jamal get a large portion of money
to help him in his future
Analysis of The Shining, by Stanley Kubrick Essay
What is horror? Webster s Collegiate Dictionary gives the primary definition of
horror as a painful and intense fear, dread, or dismay. It stands to reason then that
horror fiction is fiction that elicits those emotions in the reader. An example of a
horror film is The Shining , directed by Stanley Kubrick. Stanley Kubrick was a well
known director, producer, writer and cinematographer. His films comprised of unique,
qualitative scenes that are still memorable but one iconic film in his collection of
work is The Shining. Many would disagree and say that The Shining was not his

Eventually he started to make his films and in 1980, Stanley Kubrick s The Shining
was released and shown to people nationally. The film was both praised and criticized
all around the nation.
The Shining is about the Torrance family having to stay at the Overlook hotel for five
months. Having that said, the family was completely isolated in such a big place
over the winter. The hotel had horrific history of a murder done by Charles Grady
who had committed suicide after killing his two girls and wife with an axe. The
shocking information given to Jack did not bother him at all and he even said that
his wife, Wendy would enjoy a good scary story. The film proceeds into a story that
would seem calm and full of tranquility but this would not be the case since it soon
enough turns out into something more horrifying. After a month has gone by, one
can clearly notice the difference between the old Jack to the new Jack. This has to
do with his personality and how he is acting by himself and towards others. His
attitude changes to wanting to spend more time alone and not caring to do the work
for the hotel, which he was hired to do in the first place. Danny is the young son of
Jack who has psychic powers which at times confuses him but most of the time
frightens the young boy. Danny encounters the two young girls that were killed in
the hotel. Danny tries to avoid the girls as much as possible and tries to stay away
from room 237 but it attracted Danny s attention.

Chapter 1
1)Describe the geological and geographical conditions that set the stage for North
American history. In the geological aspect, the Native Americans that tended to the
land did not aggressively control the land leaving rich soil for the incoming
Europeans to later on control. But they also burnt down many trees to create living
spaces for the tribes. Geographically it was good for the Europeans because it was by
the water and all the rocks underneath the top layer of soil were rich for farming.
2) Describe the origin and development of the major Indian cultures of the Americas.
The Indian Tribes like the Aztecs and the Incas were very infamous for working the
fields, like taking care of corn and crops, which later reached the Southwest first and
later on North America. This led to the cultivation of beans and maize in the
southwest which inevitably started farming in America.
3) Explain the developments in Europe and Africa that led up to Columbia s voyage
to America. Because Spain and Portugal were rivals, they were always trying to out
beat each other. Since the Portuguese set up trading posts in Africa first, other
European countries started and later on Spain set up posts too. Because the
Portuguese didn t like taking water routes, it took them longer to get to India through
land to get spices and jewels. While this was happening, the Spanish people became
unified and seeing that they were now stronger, planned to outstrip their rivals of the

Alaska s Gold Rush
Alaska is our 49th and largest state. The purchase of Alaska from Russia was
orchestrated by Secretary of State William Seward, and was originally called Seward
s Folly. However, that thinking changed when it was realized that the United States
bought Alaska for such a little price considering its worth.
William Seward was a Union College graduate who went on to law school and
eventually became New York State Governor, a United StatesSenator and finally the
United States Secretary of State under Abraham Lincoln. Seward survived an attempt
on his life after Lincoln s assassination and later became Andrew Johnson s Secretary
of State. It was while he was in this position that Seward engineered the purchase of
Alaska from Russia.

Seafood is a also a main export. Salmon is a big industry there. Salmon are born in
fresh water, migrate to the ocean, and return to fresh water to reproduce. While the
total population of salmon has declined, this is not the case in the state of Alaska.
Alaska has a fishery management system which is considered to be one of the best
in the management of wild fish stock. Salmon is a popular seafood item because it
is rich in omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin D. In addition to the exporting of seafood,
Alaska transports natural gas and oil. Alaska also produces precious metals, zinc,
timber and wood products. What little agriculture and farming is done in Alaska,
generally stays within the state. A lot of Alaska s jobs involve natural resource
extraction, shipping and transport. More of it comes from the military bases which
are located in the state. Tourism is also big in Alaska, with the increase in local
lodging contributing to the state s economy. Although Alaska has some roads, they
are not as available as they are in other states. Travel throughout Alaska is also by
train, water and air. Of course, one could always travel by
Zanzibar Research Paper
In Zanzibar, Tanzania there is a legend, or some would say a myth, about a local
street called Iilaa Aljahim, which had giggling children that never came in reach of
sight. There are many local stories that go around about this street, such as, Вґthis
touched me!Вґand ВґI swear I heard it!!Вґ ,and so forth. However, there was never
proof that this particular street was haunted by these children, except for the peculiar
account of Naqi Hlu.
Naqi Hlu was a girl of great spiritual strength. She believed there was a lot of good

Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse-Five Essay
In Slaughterhouse Five, Kurt Vonnegut wants us to understand that time is inevitable
and uncontrollable. This is similar to Time XXI by Khalil Gibran due to its
description of time it describes how time is boundless, measureless etc. However,
The Twilight Zone, Nick of Time by Richard Matheson is in direct contrast to
Vonnegut s ideas about timein Slaughterhouse Five because in the show they were
able to change their actions to change the future, which is completely in opposition to
Slaughterhouse Fives themes. In Slaughterhouse Five a major theme in the book is
taught by the tralfamadorians. They teach Billy that there is no free will and
everything in time has already happened, making fate the deciding factor in your life.

with Slaughterhouse Five s idea of fate being the end all be all and whatever

Medical Marijuana Should be Legalized Essay
Marijuana has been in the news lately since two states, Colorado and Washington,
have voted to legalize recreational marijuana. Currently they are the only two states
to legalize recreational marijuana. Twenty states and the District of Columbia have
legalized medical marijuana. Iowa, at this time, has decided not to legalize medical
marijuana in spite of many Iowa citizens advocating for the legalization of the drug.
Iowa is taking a cautious approach to medical marijuana. Medical marijuana has
been proven to help with seizures, pain management, nausea and improve the quality

One Denver citizen put it quite clearly when he stated, The only thing more
addictive than illegal drugs is tax revenue. We have seen this work with gambling
which used to be illegal and now is a wonderful source of revenue for states.
Governor Hickenlooper of Colorado has urged other states not to rush into legalizing
marijuana just for the tax revenue, but to wait and see how Colorado handles any
problems that may arise.
The Marihuana Tax Act of 1937 criminalized marijuana by restricting possession of
the drug to individuals who paid an excise tax for certain approved medical and
industrial uses. Penalty for nonpayment of this tax was up to $2000 and/or jail time
up to five years. (Kriho) Three men, William Randolf Hearst, Andrew Mellon and
Harry Anslinger were the men behind the development of The Marihuana Tax Act of

the head of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics and had made his career enforcing
alcohol prohibition. Prohibition ended in 1933 and Anslinger felt he needed a new

Hearst felt hemp was a threat to his extensive timber holding from which paper pulp

The Expression Of Emotion In A Monster Calls By Patrick
Ness
From a young age, many are taught to keep their emotions to themselves, because
the expression of emotion is deemed as weak. This causes people to keep
everything inside of them, and that is not good for one s health. In the novel A
Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, Conor is a young boy whose mother is dying of
cancer. Because of this, a newfound monster has appeared and has decided to help
Conor. Through this, Patrick Ness displays the progression of Conor s relationship
with the monster from an adversarial relationship to an acquaintanceship to an
intimate bond in order to demonstrate that one must express emotionin order to heal.
In the beginning, Conor is very distant towards the tree, which, Ness uses to portray
that one must express emotion in order to heal. When Conor first meets the monster,
he was emotionally detached from the monster. The monster would threaten him, and
Conor would respond back in a taunting manner in order to isolate himself from the
monster. So, when monster stated an intention to harm him, Conor intrepidly
responds with, So come and get me then (Ness 8). Here, Conor is trying to distance
himself from the monster by attempting to not be afraid. This illustrates a scene
where Conor is showing his hatred towards the tree. On a deeper level, Conor is only
saying this because he does not want the monster to become close to him. Conor
attempts to drive the monster away from him, which ultimately shows that Conor and
the monster s relationship at the
Symptoms Affect My Performance At Work
While the migraine and preceding symptoms affect my performance at work, this
condition has also affected my personality as well as my personal life. Having
surprise migraine attacks more days than not has unquestionably changed who I am.
By nature, I am a friendly, outgoing, energetic, happy person with a sense of humor.
With migraines, I am a crabby, depressed, frustrated, emotional person. My headaches
dictate my moods and character. When I wake in the morning with swollen fingers
and a tight neck, my mood is instantly that of worry because those are signs that a
migraine will soon arrive. I start thinking of all the things I will not be able to do
and plans that I may have to cancel. I will not be able to walk my dogs, work in my
garden, go to Zumba, clean the house, socialize with friends or cook dinner for my
family. Sometimes I avoid making plans at all because I know I will eventually be
sick. I withdraw from my friends and family. My mood shifts to anger. Angry
because I cannot enjoy my life as I want. Then I am grouchy and sad. I worry that
others will think I am weak or dramatic. Many days I try not to let the migraine
take over my life. I fight to continue to go about my day; but I am usually irritable
with my friends, family, and co workers. My frustration level increases. There are
limitations of what I can do because most of the time I can barely move my head
without experiencing unbearable painor vomiting. I try to fake through so I do not

The Tar Creek Superfund Site
The Tar Creek Superfund site is located in Ottawa Country, in northeastern
Oklahoma. This superfund site covers five municipalities in its boundary, the site
covers approximately 40 square miles. Two towns are situated in the middle of the
superfund site, Picher and Cardin, both in hazardous areas. There is a population of
19,556 people who live in and around the superfundsite (Vincent). The Tar Creek
Superfund site was once a large miningoperation. The mine started in the early
1900s and was still in use until as late as the 1970s. The area was mostly minded
for zinc ore and lead (Wilson). Many of the mines at this site had their own mills
for the mineral separation process. Milling the lead and zinc ore created a large
amount of waste. This wasted was in the form of gravel, dust, and debris. The
milling process also created another type of waste know as mine tailings. Mine
tailings also known as chat , are huge piles of pulverized rock that are left over
after the target metals have been extracted from the mineral rocks that they are
located in (Wilson). This separation was largely inefficient, especially in older
mining operations. The result after this process left some of the metal containing
mineral left behind creating large above ground piles or being filled in pits are
tailings ponds. A few of these above ground piles reached a height of 200 feet,
containing high levels of lead and other dangerous substances. When mining came to
an end, these huge piles of

they spend it in house hire Answer: The economic trap that is stated in this poem,
translated by Terence Tiller, to the peasants is a couple of things. First, in the 3rd
line, it states, Charged with their children, and chief lords rent, which is implying
that they must pay for their children and also pay or rent the land that they live on
which is granted to them by the lords. In line 4 it states, What by spinning they
save, they spend it in house hire. This is stating that the peasants would have to also
pay for their houses damages while being stressed by all the other cluttered things
they must pay for. They overall economic trap for the peasants is them paying others

their children. Document 2 Quotation from Juan Ruiz What does the writer mean by

the man with wealth is the ruler, the penniless man is the one being ruled. The man

As mentioned earlier as much as the offender wants to change that is not enough.
Wanting to change is usually not enough to be able to change the patterns that lead
to sexual offenses. To create the motivation to change, some offenders need a
variety of treatment and corrective interventions, and for others learning how to
make the change in their own behavioral cycle of abuse is more effective, (Office
of the Attorney General State of California). Historically it was ok to marry a
twelve year old child and start reproducing around fourteen years of age. This was
because life expectancy was not that long and at around the age of fourteen
individuals was considered to be adults and thus it was acceptable. Thus there being
no need for treatment because there was no sex offender cases. While in today s
society this is no longer acceptable while in some places the age of consent is as
young as sixteen years (The Age of Consent). With the history of sex offender
management came treatment which was castration which is the altogether removal
of genitals, and imprisonment. While according the Bureau of Justice Assistance
there are three forms of treatment for sex offenders. There is the cognitive behavioral
approach, which focuses on changing the thinking patterns of an offender. The
psycho educational approach focuses on increasing the offender s

times throughout his speech he spoke of peace and unity not only through
America, but also throughout the entire world. The way he spoke of helping
countries of complete poverty brought America together and ready to help people

but he also touched on the Cold War which is known as the Space Race to many.

Summary Of Women By Bharati Mukherjee
The germ of the novel lay in the medieval romance of fantastic tale of the love and
adventure, itself derived from the ballads and fragments of epic poems sung by the
wandering minstrel. In 1350 Boccaccio wrote a world famous collection of love
stories in prose, entitled Decameron. Such short stories are called in Italian novella . .
Bharati Mukherjee s female protagonists are immigrants and suffer cultural shock
but they are anxious to establish their identity by undertaking their heroic journeys
that is why Bharati Mukherjee received considerable critical attention from almost
all the quarters of the globe in a relatively short period of just twenty five years.
Even though she has been acknowledged as a voice of expatriate immigrants,
sensibility, and a close observation of her novels reveals that she has written all the
novels with predominantly feminist views. Mukherjee s depiction of women and
their different relationships portray the dominance of practical practices in traditional
society, as well as the forms of liberation and empowerment which are available to
women in their Diaspora s situation.
Wife:
In her second novel Wife the protagonist Dimple wants to break through the
traditional taboos of a wife. This novel tells the story of Dimple a seemingly docile
young Bengali girl who, as any other normal girl is full of dreams about her married
life and so she eagerly and impatiently waiting for marriage.
In India, a marriage is not simply a union of two individuals;

customers are interested in an online hypermarket. To analyze this, the research is
divided in three topics. The first one discusses the interest from customers to buy
online. The second looks at drivers and barriers for people to buy online. Finally, the
third topic investigates the different product categories that Caddyhome should
include in their assortment. To analyze these topics, a market research was conducted
through a face to face questionnaire and the results analyzed through a statistical

these results, recommendations are given to Caddyhome regarding these topics....

Sample design For the purpose of our market research, we used a nonprobability
sampling. We focused on people who, at least, sometimes buy online. We used a
convenience sample, which means that we asked people who were available when
and where we collected our data. Our sample was conducted among 100 150
respondents with Dutch, Belgian, French and Spanish nationalities. This should be
enough in order to get some insight of the interest of the customers for the project
and derive some relevant results from it. 5. Research questions, hypothesis and

King Aspelta Analysis
The Colossal Statue of King Aspelta appears to be especially influenced by the
statue design of Old Kingdom Egypt, despite being a Kushite work from the
Nubian region produced between the years of 593 and 568 BC. Due to the larger
than life size of Aspelta, the eye is initially drawn to the pectoral and abdominal
region of the body. This portion of the statue is especially idealized as the pectorals
are toned and the abdomen is similarly muscular. Furthermore, there is no
indication of any weakness or fat, which would be typical of the average human
being. Even in the absence of the work s title, this makes it evident that subject was
in a position of power and wish to be seen as an ideal and powerful portion. The arms

Mentuemhet was a mayor and prophet from the city of Amen responsible for the
reconstruction of temples that had been destroyed by invading Assyrians. The statue
itself is quite similar that of King Aspelta in terms of form. For example, the
Mentuemhet is also shown to have an idealized body yet individualized face in the
same way as King Aspelta. Furthermore, Mentuemhet is posed in the characteristic
left foot forward stance of Old Kingdom Egypt. Likewise, the respective statues
wear the same attire, a skirt with the same designs. This also appears to be a nod to
the Old Kingdom Egypt as the same piece of clothing can be viewed on statues of
leaders from this period, like Menkaure. Also, both are high reliefs in the sense that
the figures are not liberated from the granite stone, though their standing depiction
gives the illusion that they are free standing statues when viewed from the front.
However, the free standing illusion provides both with a sense of permanence and
longevity of statue which hints toward the timeless aspect of Egyptian statues due to
their concept of the
Edmund Spenser vs. Virgil and Ariosto Essay
Edmund Spenser vs Virgil and Ariosto Some scholars believe Spenser did not have
sufficient education to compose a work with as much complexity as The Faerie
Queene, while others are still extolling him as one of the most learned men of his
time . Scholar Douglas Bush agrees, scholars now speak less certainly that they once
did of his familiarity with ancient literature . In contrast, Meritt Hughes finds no
evidence that Spenser derived any element of his poetry from any Greek Romance .
Several questions still remain unanswered: Was Edmund Spenseras divinely inspired

Another scholar testified that both Ariosto and Spenser did not observe Virgil s
conception of an epic as a unified account of a single hero s career, but instead got
lost in their concentrations on wild, unnatural allegories that greatly displeased and
ultimately confused the reader (1).
Spenser, who was referred to as the English Virgil by his contemporaries, was
certainly influenced by Virgil s success (Kennedy 717). The idea of modeling one
s career after Virgil s is know as the rota Virgilli or cursus Virgilli, meaning the
Virgilian wheel or course (717). It is explained in a four line preface added to
Renaissance editions of the Aeneid: Ille ego, qui quondam gracili modulates avena
/ Carmen, et egressus silvis vicina coegi/ ut quamvis avido parerent arva colono,
/ gratum opus agricolis, at nunc horrentia Martis (I am he who, after singing on the
shepherd s slender pipe and leaving the wood side for the farmlands ever so much to
obey their eager tenant; my work was welcome to the farmers, but now I turn to the
sterner stuff on Mars)(717).
Virgil starts off writing the pastoral poem and ends with the epic. He begins his
career with shepherd s slender pipe (the pastoral Eclogues), proceeds to the
farmlands (the didactic Georgics), and finally arrives at the sterner stuff on Mars
(the epic Aeneid) (717). Spenser described his own career similarly in the first book
of The Faerie Queene: Lo I the man, whose Muse whilome
Ambiguity Of Changez s Suicide
As the final scenes of the story begin to unfold, the reader is left open to
interpretation. The reader gets ever so close to revealing the relationship between
Changez and his guest; however, Hamid concludes the novel leaving behind a trail of
frustration and ambiguity. This not only gives the reader the task of constructing the
conclusion to however he or she sees fit, but also to understand the human connection
that is apparent between these two people. The ending is foreshadowed through
symbols and characters throughout the course of the novel. Hamid illustrates how
things are judged based on racial appearances and the mannerisms that come with
those doctrines. These begin to shape Changez s impressions of the United States.

He looks away from the religious and political sense of the word. The idea can be
represented in various situations and in various ways throughout the novel.
Changez argues how being an American and watching as his country invades
foreign lands is an act of terrorism. And, as a result, the stranger is then a
fundamentalist and so too is the reader who listens to his story. Changez can also
be considered the fundamentalist as his Pakistani ethnicity and his motives cause
him to fall under the stereotype of a religious extremist. Changez never fits this
stereotype; however, the general public is so caught up with judging people based
on their racial appearances that he is stopped at an airport solely due to a

their lives; the FBI was raiding mosques, shops, and even people s houses (94).
America was in chaos; however, its chaos was directed at a race and not an
individual. Instead of only the small fraction of extremists, it singled out millions of
people and brought forth turmoil to the entire

slavery began to mount, beginning with the controversy over the admission of
Missouri as a slave state in 1819 20, proslavery extremists in Alabama and other
Southern states increasingly referred to secession as their ultimate defense to protect
their region s society and economy.( Secession , 2011) The increasing success of the
new Republican Party in the North, with its adamant opposition to the expansion of
slavery into the western territories, seemed proof to more and more Alabamians of
the northern intention to reduce southerners to second class citizenship in the Union.
Essentially all Alabama voters, across the entire political spectrum, believed that the
territories were the common property of all Americans, and therefore that all
Americans should be able to go there and take their personal property, including
slaves, with them. The state s wealthy planters considered slavery essential to their
economy. The Republican nominee, Abraham Lincoln, whose party did not exist in
Alabama or most of the South and who consequently was not a candidate there,
carried every free state, thus finally providing southerners with unarguable proof that
the North was determined to deny their constitutional right to settle in the territories

Comparision of Alexander the Great and Augustus Ceasar
Alexander the Great and Augustus are two different individuals from two different
time periods and they are both famous for their accomplishments. Alexander is one of
the greatest military geniuses who by the age of 33 had conquered most of Asia.
Alexander thought of himself as the son of Greek god Zeus. Augustuswas the first
emperor of Rome who brought peace and stability to the Roman Empire. He was the
grandson of the sister of Julius Caesar. His original name was Caius Octavius, but
when he was adopted by the Julian gens (44 B.C.) he became Caius Julius Caesar
Octavianus (Octavian). He was named (given the title) Augustus later when he
became the First Emperor or Rome by the senate. Augustus was seen as both a
military leader as well as a religious leader. In my opinion they were both very
important in their time because Alexander for being able to conquer lands all the
way to Asia and Augustus for being the first emperor and having a nearly fifty years
of peace (Pax Romana). But if I had to choose who was more important I would
choose Augustus Caesar.
Alexander the Great was the King of Macedonia. He is considered one of the
greatest military geniuses of all times. He inspired later conquerors such as
Hannibal the Carthaginian, the Romans Pompey, Caesar, and Napoleon. Alexander
was born in 356 B.C. in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia. He was the son of
Phillip II, King of Macedonia, and Olympia s, the princess of neighboring Epirus.
Olympias told Alexander that

  • 2. Why Do I Like Jack The Ripper Essay Why do I like jack the ripper? That is a very hard question. It s so many reasons. Jack was a mystery. I find it so fascinating how he killed five women, but didn t get caught. London police used all the resources they had, and he didn t get caught. That s fascinating. Since the first murder found place in 1888, many authors have made stories about Jack. And it has been made stories in many different styles. From biography s, to essays, to crime novels. Therefore I find it difficult to write about just one authors writing style. So I have decided to write about the characteristic from the authors who have made stories about Jack. In all the stories that have been made about jack, there is one thing that every author uses. That is description. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I know that you have a lot of question. I will try to answer them in this letter. First question you all are wondering, why are you killing immigrants? First off, I want give you all the answers. Because it s rather fun to see people going insane trying to figure it out. I don t want to give too much information. But I am against the political views on refuges. And one way to protest, it s to kill the people that are let into our country. I am not mistaken, when I am saying that maybe half of the Norwegians people are not so angry about what I have done. It s like a demonstration. I am the spokesman, but the rest have my back. This is where we are in today s society. And someone needed to go against the refuges. And I don t regret. I would have done the same over again. And I am not a psychopath. I am just a Norwegian. A Norwegian that have turned the bright Konnerud, into a dark city. A Norwegians that have showed you, what the politicians can expect when they accept refuges. It s going to be fights. Between example Odin s soldiers, and Allah s soldiers. It is going to be a war. It is going to be a nightmare. It is going to be hell. So do something about
  • 3. Analysis Of Dave Barry s Guys Vs. A short essay Guys vs. Men written by Dave Barry, presents Dave s perception on the difference between Guys and Men . Dave presents his essay in a comical way that generalizes the men vs. guys and also gender biased generalization. Dave argues that men hold too much of responsibilities and many expectations in which guys do not and they live happier life. One of the methods he uses to support his argument is a comparison. Other method he uses is the description of how he views men vs. guys and gives his perspective. And the last method he uses to further his argument is the use of hyperbole, exaggerationthrough out the essay. First method of development Dave uses to further his argument is a comparision and gender biased generalization. His temptation to buy new and unnecessary things just because he is a guy can be compared when he compares females urge to rearrange furniture with males urge of using newest and latest technical equipments. Dave separates guys and women by giving their choice that is somewhat statistically true, that women are more interested in decorating house oppose to buying latest version of technical items. Dave s use of logos play significant role here to support his argument. Not only he compares guys and women, but also guys with his auxiliary dog. (919). He compares that guys do not follow rules even though they know they are not suppose to do things they do, just like his small auxiliary backup dog. Dave is saying that his
  • 4. Sherlock Holmes Reasoning The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes. The world changes and new cases appear every day like in the novel series of the The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Many readers have been very much interested in Doyle s stories and how he has fabricated Sherlock s form of reasoning or understanding in cases. These people have created many films depicting Doyle s stories. In some films such as The Great Mouse Detective and Sherlock Holmes, the story line is the same as Doyle s original but some names and characters have been changed. In the films, The Great Mouse Detective and Sherlock Holmes, the story proceeds the same as a detective solving a seemingly impossible case. In Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock uses his deductive reasoning to solve a case that has been brought up that no one knows how to solve. The same follows in The Great Mouse Detective as Basil has a case brought to him about a missing father. The difference between the two though is that Sherlock in Sherlock Holmes does proceed his cases sometimes with much rudeness or is willing to fight his way, physically, through any of his problems.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Great Mouse Detective, Basil of Baker Street is the lead detective that uses the help of an assistant named Dawson to solve a mystery. In this same way Sherlock in Sherlock Holmes is also a detective that uses the help of an assistant named Watson to solve cases. The difference however is not the same characters are pulled from the stories. For example, in The Great Mouse Detective the peg legged man makes an appearance, but in Sherlock Holmes he does not. The opposite is for Irene Adler, she is in Sherlock Holmes, but not The Great Mouse Detective. The characters in both stories are idealized from the original story of Sherlock Holmes but are made to be different because of the audience the characters are created
  • 5. Reflective Introduction To Cinema The larger majority of the Introduction to Cinema 2366 course was viewing films. Subsequently, the films we viewed in the class have affected me in four gifts of the humanities. As a student, my interests have developed around the social issues of classism and racism in America. Therefore, the course has given me food for thought via films which tackle social issues causing me to rethink the ways I understand these issues as well as understand filmrhetoric to gain a deeper knowledge of how society understood these problems. Cinema also allows viewers to gain a sense of the past, this is especially true of the course since the films we ve watched were opened 1959 or before. In this way, I have been able to understand historical events (such as the dust bowl, the great depression, and the red scare) through characters who are relatable, causing me to understand that though time and geography may differ between me and these characters, there exist timeless truths of humanity. The course has also allowed me to extend myself intellectually. Before enrolling in this course, I had little knowledge about cinema and its place in our society. The course has provided me with a new found appreciation for the art of film which is an important subject in academia rather than just an elective. Lastly, I have realized the idea of the infinite person, via this film course. Through the films viewed in class, I have found myself relating to characters I regularly would not have. For

  • 7. My First Trip To Las Vegas, Nevada On February 14, 2015, I went to my first concert. It was also the first time I have ever visited Las Vegas, Nevada. During this trip, I was 11 years old. Above all the car drive, the stay, and the concert was a fantastic adventure. To begin, the drive to Las Vegas was long lasting, but very fun. For example, I had my sister, cousin, uncle, and my parents, so we listened to music and played games. This shows that we can have a good time in just a car with one another. This also shows that we can bond easier because we have the same sense of imagination. In addition, my sister, cousin, and I were taking videos of each other while everyone was sleeping. This displays that we can entertain each other when no one else wants to talk. This also displays that we get along even when we have to sit in a tight space for a long period of time. In conclusion, the drive was very interesting and entertaining, although it was very long. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance the stay at the Excalibur was exciting. The islanded microgrid system optimization that is composed of the photovoltaic (PV) system, battery energy storage system (BESS), and diesel generation system (DGS) is proposed for fulfilling the continuous power supply of the office buildings which is situated in Hlaing Tharyar Township, Yangon division of Myanmar. To evaluate the optimum cost... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A more cost effective approach of electrifying an off grid community is to use a stand alone microgrid power generation system that utilizes the available renewable energy resources (RERs)[1]. In this paper, islanded microgrid system is considered in order to supply the continuous power with the optimum cost for the office buildings which is situated in Hlaing Tharyar Township, Yangon division of Myanmar. According to the collected data, the load demand of the proposed area is approximately about 150 kW and the load demand varies throughout the day. After that, the stand alone microgrid system is designed regarding to the levelized cost of energy. The simulation, sensitivity analysis and optimization of microgrid system have been performed by using HOMER software and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and the two simulation results are compared to achieve the optimum cost of the proposed system. 2.ISLANDED MICROGRID: A more cost effective approach of electrifying an off grid community is to use a stand alone microgrid power generation system that utilizes the available renewable energy resources (RERs). Such isolated power generation and distribution systems, which embed distributed energy resources (DERs), are known as islanded microgrids (IMGs). An IMG energized mainly by RERs not only reduces the life cycle cost (LCC) but it also enhances renewable energy penetration (REP) and thus decreases greenhouse gas emissions [3]. IMGs

Developing countries are vulnerable in their trading relationships because fluctuations in price can destabilize their economies. Zimbabwe s main exports are cotton and tobacco while that of the USA includes telecommunications, equipment, automobiles and medicine. Urbanisation is another indicator of development. Developed countries already have a high proportion of the population living in urban areas. The developing countries however still have a high proportion of the population living in rural areas, but there are rapid rates of rural to urban migration in those economies. In Zimbabwe 38% of the population live in urban areas and the rate of urbanization is 3.4%. In the USA however 82% of the population live in the urban areas and the rate of urbanization is much lower at 1.2%. They can be distinguished by the provision of infrastructure. Infrastructure includes health education and housing. The developed countries have better infrastructure than the developed country. The Human Development Indexcombines elements of health as measured by life expectancy, education and income to assess development. Life expectancy in Zimbabwe is 51 years whereas it is 78 years in the USA. Access to technology also differs between the two. 5% of the world s computers are located in developing countries.

There are several National Guard Units that continuously fail to meet these requirements. I think that if every National Guard Unit was able to conduct flight operations where they held weekend drills. You would see a drastic increase in annual hours flown, as well as overall proficiency and retention of soldiers in these units. It is my opinion that the above stated problems with the inability to fly, mission readiness, and proficiency, in turn lead to a negative command relationship. A negative command relationship could potentially lead to a lack of trust between leadership. As well as a tension, meaning command may not believe that you are utilizing all of your Soldiers, therefore they need 4 Soldiers for a detail. However, based on the UAS MTOE, providing Soldiers for details is practically impossible and could negatively affect flight operations. Having a positive command relationship will exponentially increase a Units overall ability to operate successfully. Based on the above mentioned difficulties associated with conducting flight operations while not having a flight line at your duty station. I think it is fair to associate the inability to perform flight ops at a Drill duty station with these National Guard Units failing to meet their requirements. Thus in turn creating less proficient soldiers, which can ultimately lead to lack of desire to stay in the National Guard. Soldiers enlist to perform a job, and without the ability to perform the desired job comes a lack of interest in being a National

  • 12. Introduction To Oedipus The King Analysis In his essay, Introduction to Oedipus the King , Bernard Knox supports free will by stating that Oedipus downfall was not caused by fate. According to Knox there is not a doubt that, Oedipus is the free agent who, by his own self willed action, discovers that his own predicted destiny has already been fulfilled (86). He clearly states that Oedipusis responsible for his free actions during the play. He insists that Oedipus s made the decisions to discover the truth about himself. Bernard Knox believed that Oedipus Rex freely searched for his truth and not forced by fate to act on upon it: Oedipus did have one freedom: he was free to find out or not find out the truth. . . One freedom has allowed him: the freedom to search for the truth, the truth about the prophecies, about the gods, about himself. And of this freedom he makes full use. Against the advice and appeals of others, he pushes on, searching for the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. . . This freedom to search, and the heroic way in which Oedipus uses it, . .[is] a heroic example of a man s dedication to the search for truth, the truth about himself. (89) Bernard Knox believed that Oedipus had freedom but it ultimately leads to his own ruin. Knox explains that was able to control if he wanted to find out the truth. He adds that Oedipus has completely used his freedom to search for the truth about his prophecies, the gods, and about himself. He said that Oedipus stubbornly pushed on with the search for his truth against the caution and pled from others. Knox concluded that Oedipus s ability to search for the truth made the play about a man s dedication for the truth instead of a tragedy of destiny. Oedipus search for truth was one of his actions that had no other purpose other than his need to know. Oedipus was able to make his choices of wanting to learn the truth even though he was warned not to. His perseverance to find the truths of which he was searching for, that being his oracles or birth, were what ultimately lead him to his own demise. Oedipus actions were freely decided and his search for the truth can be seen as heroic . An example of Oedipus s firm decision to find the truth can be seen when he chose to ignore
  • 13. An Analysis of Wilbur s Mayflies Essay An Analysis of Wilbur s Mayflies Richard Wilbur s recent poem Mayflies reminds us that the American Romantic tradition that Robert Frost most famously brought into the 20th century has made it safely into the 21st. Like many of Frost s short lyric poems, Mayflies describes one person s encounter with an ordinary but easily overlooked piece of nature in this case, a cloud of mayflies spotted in a sombre forest (l.1) rising over unseen pools (l.2), made surprisingly attractive and meaningful by the speaker s special scrutiny of it. The ultimate attraction of Wilbur s mayflies would appear to be the meaning he finds in them. This seems to be an unremittingly positive poem, even as it glimpses the dark subjects of human ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 17). More surprising yet, though surely emblems of the ephemeral (of the order ephemeroptera), they suggest by their choreographed life an interconnectivity in nature that transcends an individual?s mortality. Indeed, in the third and final stanza they become a foil for the speaker?s own sense of ?separateness? and mortality ?as night close[s] in?(l.18). At a literal level the poem all along insists on the speaker?s separation, as ?witness?(l. 9), from this ?manifold/ And figured scene?(ll. 13 14). To see the dance so well, he has had to be stationed outside it. This exclusion, it would seem, is the poet?s classic occupational hazard. Yet this darker revelation is quickly eclipsed by one last happy irony, a revelation of sorts: the poem so artfully represents it subject, its conspicuous ingenuities of form so undulate and glitter like the mist of mayflies, that the poem itself becomes the mayflies?or means to come as close as language can take it. As a special way of seeing, the poem means to breech the gulf between seer and thing seen and thus forge a connection to the object world, the speaker?s own absence from which he ostensibly laments. That this attempt is successful seems implicit in the last lines of the poem. There, it occurs to the speaker that his sense of separateness and mortality can be allayed by the idea that he has been ?called? to be a poetic seer, ?one whose task is joyfully to see/ How fair

Nick seems to victimize himself for everything that happened to him throughout the book. However, Jamal seems to be better suited for overcoming obstacles and not whining about them. Jamal s lack of a father figure seemed to have made him a better person and helped him grow into the person he is today. When I wake in the morning with swollen fingers and a tight neck, my mood is instantly that of worry because those are signs that a migraine will soon arrive. I start thinking of all the things I will not be able to do and plans that I may have to cancel. I will not be able to walk my dogs, work in my garden, go to Zumba, clean the house, socialize with friends or cook dinner for my family. Sometimes I avoid making plans at all because I know I will eventually be sick. I withdraw from my friends and family. My mood shifts to anger. Angry because I cannot enjoy my life as I want. Then I am grouchy and sad. I worry that others will think I am weak or dramatic. Many days I try not to let the migraine take over my life. I fight to continue to go about my day; but I am usually irritable with my friends, family, and co workers. My frustration level increases. There are limitations of what I can do because most of the time I can barely move my head without experiencing unbearable painor vomiting. I try to fake through so I do not

Two towns are situated in the middle of the superfund site, Picher and Cardin, both in hazardous areas. There is a population of 19,556 people who live in and around the superfundsite (Vincent). The Tar Creek Superfund site was once a large miningoperation. The mine started in the early 1900s and was still in use until as late as the 1970s. The area was mostly minded for zinc ore and lead (Wilson). Many of the mines at this site had their own mills for the mineral separation process. Milling the lead and zinc ore created a large amount of waste. This wasted was in the form of gravel, dust, and debris. The milling process also created another type of waste know as mine tailings. Mine tailings also known as chat , are huge piles of pulverized rock that are left over after the target metals have been extracted from the mineral rocks that they are located in (Wilson). This separation was largely inefficient, especially in older mining operations. The result after this process left some of the metal containing mineral left behind creating large above ground piles or being filled in pits are tailings ponds. A few of these above ground piles reached a height of 200 feet, containing high levels of lead and other dangerous substances. When mining came to an end, these huge piles of

To analyze this, the research is divided in three topics. The first one discusses the interest from customers to buy online. The second looks at drivers and barriers for people to buy online. Finally, the third topic investigates the different product categories that Caddyhome should include in their assortment. To analyze these topics, a market research was conducted through a face to face questionnaire and the results analyzed through a statistical program called SPSS. These results can be found in Appendix A. On the basis of these results, recommendations are given to Caddyhome regarding these topics.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sample design For the purpose of our market research, we used a nonprobability sampling. We focused on people who, at least, sometimes buy online. We used a convenience sample, which means that we asked people who were available when and where we collected our data. Our sample was conducted among 100 150 respondents with Dutch, Belgian, French and Spanish nationalities. This should be enough in order to get some insight of the interest of the customers for the project and derive some relevant results from it. 5. Research questions, hypothesis and data analysis I. King Aspelta Analysis The Colossal Statue of King Aspelta appears to be especially influenced by the statue design of Old Kingdom Egypt, despite being a Kushite work from the Nubian region produced between the years of 593 and 568 BC. Due to the larger than life size of Aspelta, the eye is initially drawn to the pectoral and abdominal region of the body. This portion of the statue is especially idealized as the pectorals are toned and the abdomen is similarly muscular. Furthermore, there is no indication of any weakness or fat, which would be typical of the average human being. The statue itself is quite similar that of King Aspelta in terms of form. For example, the Mentuemhet is also shown to have an idealized body yet individualized face in the same way as King Aspelta. Furthermore, Mentuemhet is posed in the characteristic left foot forward stance of Old Kingdom Egypt. Likewise, the respective statues wear the same attire, a skirt with the same designs. This also appears to be a nod to the Old Kingdom Egypt as the same piece of clothing can be viewed on statues of leaders from this period, like Menkaure. Also, both are high reliefs in the sense that the figures are not liberated from the granite stone, though their standing depiction gives the illusion that they are free standing statues when viewed from the front. However, the free standing illusion provides both with a sense of permanence and longevity of statue which hints toward the timeless aspect of Egyptian statues due to their concept of the

Edmund Spenser vs. Virgil and Ariosto Essay Edmund Spenser vs Virgil and Ariosto Some scholars believe Spenser did not have sufficient education to compose a work with as much complexity as The Faerie Queene, while others are still extolling him as one of the most learned men of his time . Scholar Douglas Bush agrees, scholars now speak less certainly that they once did of his familiarity with ancient literature . In contrast, Meritt Hughes finds no evidence that Spenser derived any element of his poetry from any Greek Romance . Several questions still remain unanswered: Was Edmund Spenseras divinely inspired to write The Faerie Queeneas Virgiland Ariosto were in their works? Another scholar testified that both Ariosto and Spenser did not observe Virgil s conception of an epic as a unified account of a single hero s career, but instead got lost in their concentrations on wild, unnatural allegories that greatly displeased and ultimately confused the reader (1). Spenser, who was referred to as the English Virgil by his contemporaries, was certainly influenced by Virgil s success (Kennedy 717). The idea of modeling one s career after Virgil s is know as the rota Virgilli or cursus Virgilli, meaning the Virgilian wheel or course (717). It is explained in a four line preface added to Renaissance editions of the Aeneid: Ille ego, qui quondam gracili modulates avena / Carmen, et egressus silvis vicina coegi/ ut quamvis avido parerent arva colono, / gratum opus agricolis, at nunc horrentia Martis (I am he who, after singing on the shepherd s slender pipe and leaving the wood side for the farmlands ever so much to obey their eager tenant; my work was welcome to the farmers, but now I turn to the sterner stuff on Mars)(717). Virgil starts off writing the pastoral poem and ends with the epic. He begins his career with shepherd s slender pipe (the pastoral Eclogues), proceeds to the farmlands (the didactic Georgics), and finally arrives at the sterner stuff on Mars (the epic Aeneid) (717). Spenser described his own career similarly in the first book of The Faerie Queene: Lo I the man, whose Muse whilome

  • 41. The Secession Movement Of The United States Essay On January 11, 1861, the state of Alabama seceded from the Union. The secession movement was characterized by a continuous development from the time of the Wilmot Proviso until the final separation. As northern attacks on the institution of slavery began to mount, beginning with the controversy over the admission of Missouri as a slave state in 1819 20, proslavery extremists in Alabama and other Southern states increasingly referred to secession as their ultimate defense to protect their region s society and economy.( Secession , 2011) The increasing success of the new Republican Party in the North, with its adamant opposition to the expansion of slavery into the western territories, seemed proof to more and more Alabamians of the northern intention to reduce southerners to second class citizenship in the Union. Essentially all Alabama voters, across the entire political spectrum, believed that the territories were the common property of all Americans, and therefore that all Americans should be able to go there and take their personal property, including slaves, with them. The state s wealthy planters considered slavery essential to their economy. The Republican nominee, Abraham Lincoln, whose party did not exist in Alabama or most of the South and who consequently was not a candidate there, carried every free state, thus finally providing southerners with unarguable proof that the North was determined to deny their constitutional right to settle in the territories with

Comparision of Alexander the Great and Augustus Ceasar Alexander the Great and Augustus are two different individuals from two different time periods and they are both famous for their accomplishments. Alexander is one of the greatest military geniuses who by the age of 33 had conquered most of Asia. Alexander thought of himself as the son of Greek god Zeus. Augustuswas the first emperor of Rome who brought peace and stability to the Roman Empire. He was the grandson of the sister of Julius Caesar. His original name was Caius Octavius, but when he was adopted by the Julian gens (44 B.C.) he became Caius Julius Caesar Octavianus (Octavian). He was named (given the title) Augustus later when he became the First Emperor or Rome by the senate. Augustus was seen as both a military leader as well as a religious leader. In my opinion they were both very important in their time because Alexander for being able to conquer lands all the way to Asia and Augustus for being the first emperor and having a nearly fifty years of peace (Pax Romana). But if I had to choose who was more important I would choose Augustus Caesar. Alexander the Great was the King of Macedonia. He is considered one of the greatest military geniuses of all times. He inspired later conquerors such as Hannibal the Carthaginian, the Romans Pompey, Caesar, and Napoleon. Alexander was born in 356 B.C. in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia. He was the son of Phillip II, King of Macedonia, and Olympia s, the princess of neighboring Epirus. Olympias told Alexander that
