thousand impressions
to run a banner
advertisement on
their pages.
It were first used in 1994. A banner
advertisement is a small , graphics link placed on a
web page. It look like “real world” magazine
advertisement. Banner advertisements were
shown at the top or bottom of the computer
screen.
Side – Bar advertisement (skyscraper advertisement)
These are different from
banner ads. Banner ads are still
ads on a web page, whereas
sky-scrapers are running ads on
the web page.
These are similar to cable TV
ads, where a small clipping runs
at the bottom of the TV
screen.
Pop – up and pop – under advertisement
A pop –up advertisement is an
advertisement that “pop – up” in
its own window when you go to
the page. It obscures the web
page that you are trying to read ,
so you have to close the window
or move it out of the way. Pop under advertisements are
similar, but place themselves under
the content you are trying to read.
Pop-up and pop-under ads annoy many users because they clutter up the desktop and
take much time to close.
Floating advertisement
Floating advertisements appear when
you first go to a web page , and they
“float” or “fly” over the page from
anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds.
They definitely get the viewers
attention.
They are animated . But now have
sound, like TV advertisement.
They “interrupt the program” and
force you to watch them. They can take
up the entire screen.
E- Mail advertisement
Now a days various
organisations have
compiled database
regarding e-mail
addresses of their
target audience. Such
organisations send e-mail
to their target audience
and mail the advertising
message to them.
Social network advertising
is the form of online
advertising found on social
network sites such as
facebook , twitter,
LinkedIn etc. It has a huge
platform for marketers
and advertisers to discuss
their ideas and provide
information about their

  • 4. With the increase in internet services , e-business and e-commerce are expanding and now shoppers do e-shopping and retailers do e – retailing.
  • 5. On internet , advertisements are designed by web – designers.
  • 6. Types of web – based advertising Banner advertisement Side bar advertisement Pop-up and pop-under advertisement Floating advertisement E-mail advertisement Interstitial advertisement Social network advertising
  • 7. Banner advertisement (display ads) Popular sites like yahoo , Google etc. could charge $30, $50, even $100 per thousand impressions to run a banner advertisement on their pages. It were first used in 1994. A banner advertisement is a small , graphics link placed on a web page. It look like “real world” magazine advertisement. Banner advertisements were shown at the top or bottom of the computer screen.

  • 9. Side – Bar advertisement (skyscraper advertisement) These are different from banner ads. Banner ads are still ads on a web page, whereas sky-scrapers are running ads on the web page. These are similar to cable TV ads, where a small clipping runs at the bottom of the TV screen.
  • 10. Pop – up and pop – under advertisement A pop –up advertisement is an advertisement that “pop – up” in its own window when you go to the page. It obscures the web page that you are trying to read , so you have to close the window or move it out of the way. Pop under advertisements are similar, but place themselves under the content you are trying to read. Pop-up and pop-under ads annoy many users because they clutter up the desktop and take much time to close.

Floating advertisement Floating advertisements appear when you first go to a web page , and they “float” or “fly” over the page from anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds. They definitely get the viewers attention. They are animated . But now have sound, like TV advertisement. They “interrupt the program” and force you to watch them. They can take up the entire screen.
  • 14. E- Mail advertisement Now a days various organisations have compiled database regarding e-mail addresses of their target audience. Such organisations send e-mail to their target audience and mail the advertising message to them.
