2.  Based in Sheffield and London exists ‘Warp Films’ ,
a independent film and television company which
is far less dependant on large companies like
Working Titles does.
 Warp Films was established by ‘Warp Records’
founding partners Rob Mitchell and Steve Beckett
which when created produced a number of short
films.
 This film production company uses vertical
integration and is dependant on smaller
companies such as Screen-Yorkshire and
StudioCanal .
 After the passing of Rob Mitchell in 2001 Beckett
turned to Mark Herbert to help with the running
of the production company.
 A very important thing to remember about Warp-
Pictures is that unlike Working-Titles it appeals to
a very specific audience as most the funding
comes from local companies such as ‘Screen-
Yorkshire’. These companies do not make as bigger
profit and therefor the budget for filming is much
smaller than that of Working-titles.

5. This Is England is a 2006 British Drama directed by Shane
Meadows which centres around young ‘Skinheads’ who
adopt certain western cultures and become white
nationalists and divide between their groups.
• It has some not very nationally known actors but
very familiar ones known by the target audience
(British viewers) such as Thomas Turgoose (From
Eden Lake), Stephen Graham (From Snatch), Joseph
Gilgun (From the TV show Misfits) and Andrew Shim
(From Dead Mans Shoes)
• As you can see many of these actors have starred in
other productions made by Warp Pictures and this is
because using familiar faces sets up the company to
attract loyal audiences and fans of the stars.
• The budget was estimated near £2.2m which is a
very large budget for such a production (especially
expected from a company like Warp who utilises
local funding and does not often work with multi
national conglomerates.
• It is estimated so have grossed a mere $327,919. This
is only exemplary of how companies such as Warp
who make locally targeted films cannot work with
large budgets and globally.
