2. Owner ship
• Celador is an entertainment company originally formed as
an independent production company in 1983.it was set up
by paul smith who is currently CEO and jasper Corrott, they
have produced many shows the best being “who wants to be
a millionaire”? And along side it a family entertainment film
called slum dog millionaire which collected seven golden
globes, 8 Oscars and best picture.
• Celador was originally taken over by Complete
Communications, and later tried to sell it again
• Celador was almost sold by a two way media but became so
succsessful they bought themselves out of compete
comunication.
3. Operating model
• Celador is a relatively small production company but it has made a lot of
interesting family entertainment shows and films. It makes films on a
project-by-project basis (one project after another), contracting with
freelance staff( their not tied to the company) ranging from directors and
actors to lawyers and caterers to make sure a project gets made.
• To finance the Descent they had to sell their distribution rights to Pathe
and also gain sponsorship by Coors beer and Ford Land Rover which
feature their product in the film.
• They could’ve make money by co-working with other small companies
like themselves. They could have gotten private investors to fund the
film, this is where they take a certain amount of money from big
companies and try and invest it into their film getting a tax break. They
could also have pitched to the BFI who would fund certain parts of the
film. The BFI get money from the lottery and give it out to fund certain
films that have made a good enough pitch.

6. Marketing
positioncompetitors
The 3 main competitors of celador is Sony, film 4 and DNA films. In 2006
celador released THE DECENT Sony released spider man 2, film 4
released THIS IS ENGLAND, Sony films released SPIDERMAN 2 and
DNA films released THE HISTORY BOYS.
4.Sony spent: £255 million
And made: £709 million
Profit: £434million
3.FILM 4 spent:
And made: £5 million
Profit :3.5million
1.celador spent: £3.5 million
And made: £57 million
Profit of:53.5 million
2.DNA films spent:£2 million
And made: £11 million
Profit :£9 million
£1.5 million
So over all Sony is the best out the 4 competitors followed by celador then DNA
films and film 4. although celador came second in the list it made the most
money out of a low budget. Although they made a lot out of the descent they
really cant compete with the Hollywood leagues because although Sony spend
more they also intend to get more witch is what they're doing.
