The Walker Model of Curriculum Development was
developed by George Walker in the 1970s. This model is
based on the idea that curriculum development should be
a collaborative process involving teachers, students, and
other stakeholders. The Walker Model emphasizes the
importance of considering the needs and interests of
learners when designing curriculum.
PHASES OF WALKER’S MODEL FOR CURRICULUM
DEVELOPMENT
Walker’s Model of Curriculum development has 3 phase:
1. Platform
2. Deliberation
3. Design
WEAKNESSES
1. Confusing to other curriculum workers who are not aware of the
necessary process of curriculum development
2. It may not have value to teachers who are implementers of the
curriculum developed by other educators
3. Strong tendency of the curriculum development to be stuck in
phase 2
