QA/Tech Support Engineer, KLA-Tencor, Customer Operations
As a senior technical support engineer, helps manage product transition from
manufacturing to installation. Creates install and upgrade systems and procedures
showing specific roles and responsibilities of the install team, field office and the
customer. Conducts real-time upgrade/install progress evaluation against schedule and
provides technical assistance to ensure tasks completion as scheduled.
Constructs Gantt charts in collaboration with cross-functional teams to
promote synergized installation processes and cycle times, allowing for
effective management of customer expectation.
• Creates and uploads checklists in company-wide database to detail
out discrete activities and standard time to meet product install
schedule.
• Monitors daily install progress reports from the field and provides
technical assistance to 36 install/upgrade engineers resulting in 98%
on-time installations
Conducts post-install reviews to identify install out-of-box quality (OOBQ)
issues and collaborates with both Design Engineers (DE) and Manufacturing
Design Engineers (MDE) towards closure of these identified OOBQs resulting to
a 90% reduction in repeat problems.
Works with world-wide field offices towards return of Intellectual Property (IP)
parts and assemblies from customers who had their tool upgraded. This
accounts for 95% materials recovery in the last four years.
Manages over one million dollars of specialized and individual tooling. Was
instrumental in establishing a tooling program for the install team through
identification, procurement, issuance and calibration of individual and shared
installation tooling. This significantly contributed to the over-all on-time
project completion.

Principal manufacturing engineer on User Interface (UI) assembly new product
introduction (NPI) activities. In collaboration with DE, created release schedules and
drove on time completion of all activities. Participated in design reviews and evaluated
assemblies for ease of manufacture, cost and serviceability. Built and released
assembly Bill of Materials (BOM) structures as well developed assembly Operations
Method Sheets (OMS). Provided technical guidance and troubleshooting assistance on
discrepant parts/processes for ongoing products.
Developed and managed KLA Specials program that provided a fast track process for
evaluation, approval, release and build of customer–specific options. Participated in
integrating the special process in the company-wide product ordering administration.
Evaluated and released 150 special requests resulting in additional $10 million
sales.
Lead engineer in transitioning the UI mechanical assembly from make to buy
resulting in 40% reduction in cost.
Lead engineer in transitioning the whole UI assembly from US KLA-Tencor
manufacturing to KLA-Tencor off-shore operations. Trained and qualified KLA-
Tencor-Singapore MDE and assembly staff.
