1. The document describes the process for ball rolling mills at SHPS complex. Billets are heated to 1050-1100°C then rolled into balls by working stands. The balls are then cooled and undergo thermal treatment including quenching and tempering. Special devices have been developed to cut spiral grooves and increase quality and accuracy of the rolls. 2. Tube cold rolling mills are designed to manufacture high quality, high precision tubes from carbon, alloy, and special difficult to form metals. The mills can roll ribbed and hexagonal tubes. 3. 2. 1. BALL ROLLING MILLS OF SHPS MODEL
Ball production at SHPS complex is ensured according to the following
fl ow chart. Billet package is placed on the feeder of heating
furnace. Billets are placed one by one in furnace (gas or induction
heated) and from there, after heating up to 1050-1100oC, are
discharged inside by furnace roll table to carry-over table of ball rolling
mill. Billet rolls down the grid to front table from incoming part of the
mill and then it is charged by pusher to rolls of working stand of
the mill, where balls are rolled. Balls coming out from working stand
are transferred to discharge tray that guides balls to thermal treatment
area.
At thermal treatment area balls are cooled down at cooling conveyor
till temperature of quenching and then are transferred to tempering
drum, where they are thoroughly cooled with supplied water. Quenched
balls at temperature of self-tempering come in bins or big tanks where
their self-tempering occurs (slow cooling).

4. 2. TUBE COLD ROLLING MILLS FOR PRECISION TUBES
Tube Cold Rolling Mills of roll type (model HPT) and Tube Cold Rolling Mills of
roller type (model HPTR) are intended for manufacturing high-quality and
highprecision tubes out of carbon, alloyed, high-alloy steels, special difficult-to-form
alloys, non-ferrous metals.
The mills enable to roll special-purpose tubes: ribbed, hexagon tubes for cylinders
bodies and etc.

6. 3. ISOSTATIC PRESSES AND SYSTEMS
VNIIMETMASH produces and supplies laboratory and industrial hot isostatic presses on the Russia market
for more than 30 years.
VNIIMETMASH has also delivered HIPs to Great Britain, Poland, China and India. HIPs can be of top or
bottom billet loading and can come complete with high pressure gas equipment produced by leading

HIPs are the basic equipment for fabrication of new construction materials with unique properties including
ultradispersible ones (nanomaterials).
They are ideal for treatment of cast and ceramic articles as well as compaction of powder and composite
materials used in aerospace, automobile industries and different branches of mechanical engineering. HIPs
enable to increase material density, eliminate cavities and other defects of castings, consolidate homogeneous
and heterogeneous materials as well as form articles of metal, ceramic and graphite powders. HIPs of
VNIIMETMASH make have working pressure up to 3000 bars and temperature to 2200ºC; their working
