Groups are a very useful way to 
target information or encourage 
collaborative working in the VLE. 
Groups can easily be created and 
managed through the Control 
Panel > Users and Groups.
To create a Group, click Create 
Single Group > Manual enrol.
Give the Group a name and set 
availability.
You can also set availability of 
Tools for the group, depending 
on purpose. For example, a group 
Wiki would allow all members to 
contribute to a co-authored 
document.
Click Add Users to browse all 
students and staff enrolled on 
the course who can be added to 
the group.
Use check boxes 
to select users. 
Tick here the Go to 
show all staff and 
students. 
Click Submit 
when finished.
You can edit 
membership from the 
group setup page. 
Click Submit to 
complete setup.
The Group’s settings can now be 
edited from the Groups page by 
clicking the downward arrow to 
the right of the name. Click the 
Group name to see membership 
and Tools available.
Members of the Group can 
access enabled Tools from here. 
Members of a Group will also be 
alerted of membership just under 
the main course menu.
