2. Wikis are one of the tools
available in the VLE that allow
students to contribute to and
collaborate in a course.
Wikis are co-authored documents
that anyone can contribute to.
Go to Control Panel > Course
Tools > Wikis.
3. Wikis can be for a can be for a
Course (for all students) or Group
(shared between group members).
Course Wikis can be created here.
Group Wikis are created in Control
Panel > Users and Groups > Groups.
(See the How To guide on Using
Groups).
Click Create Wiki.
4. Add a name, descriptive information
(such as the purpose of the Journal)
and choose whether to make it
available and when.
You can also choose
whether students are
able to contribute to
and comment on Wiki
content.
5. The Wiki can be assessed if
appropriate.
Click Submit.
6. Click on Create Wiki Page to
add content.
You can view number of
pages and comments in the
About information.
Use Participation Summary
to see what has been added
or amended.
7. The Participation Summary
shows which users have
contributed what content,
when and what impact this
has on the overall Wiki.
8. Wikis are created in the
Control Panel and made
available in one of the
content areas (e.g. Learning
Materials). Click the Tools
menu then choose Wikis.
9. You can either link to the
Wikis page or directly to a
specified Wiki. You can also
create a new Wiki here.
10. Add a name, descriptive information
(such as the purpose of the Wiki)
and choose whether to make it
available.
11. A link to the Wiki will appear in the
content area, at the bottom of the
list of resources. You can re-order
its position by clicking and
dragging. Students can now click on
the Wiki title to access it.
