Virgin Media provides fixed and mobile telephone, television and broadband internet services to businesses and consumers in the
UK. It also owns and operates the only UK national fibre-optic cable network serving over 5 million customers and has merged
with Liberty Global
With hundreds of permanently manned locations in the UK and around 14,000 employees, Virgin Media recognised the need to
reduce the amount time and costs associated in travelling between locations while offering its people a more flexible, engaged
way of working. The flexible working initiative was designed to leverage the power of Cisco’s collaboration software (Unified
Communications, Webex video conferencing and Webex Social) to achieve these goals
Sei Mani created an internal adoption service and designed a consumer centric product launch of the technologies with HR and
Internal Comms and operated a Genius Desk serice providing on-demand collaboration coaching on Cisco WebEx, WebEx Social,
and Jabber
› The overall rate of WebEx adoption is 80% is record breaking; the worldwide average varies between 10%-25%
› 100% of employees that can access WebEx Social have registered
› Between 40%-60% of users are active every month
› 20% of users are generating over 14,000 VOIP calls per month
Virgin Media has realised significant T+E cost savings of 20% and 94% of users say these tools are saving them time. There’s
been a significant increase in employee engagement over the past two years and communities have brought several significant
products and services to market faster. Virgin Media was judged by its industry peers in 2012 by winning the Peer Awards on in
the category “People and Performance” for its Flexible Working initiative.
It was imperative for the success of this initiative to find a partner that truly understood human behaviours
combined with real world experience of improving business collaboration, the foresight, vision and practical can
do ways of working provided by Sei Mani have helped turn this initiative from potential into reality. Colin Miles,
Director IT Technical Services, Virgin Media
