1) The video presentation summarizes a story about a student named John studying architecture whose grades did not meet the minimum requirements for his department and he was at risk of having to drop out of his program halfway through.
2) When John's mother saw his poor academic results, she became very angry and scolded him harshly. This caused John to change his attitude towards his studies.
3) By working harder, John was able to improve his grades and present a project to his tutor that was well-received, allowing him to continue in his program as his grades now met the requirements.
Reaction formation can be defined as the superficial adoption—and, often, exaggeration—of ideas and impulses that are diametrically opposed to one’s own.
A man unconsciously finds himself attracted to another man/woman , but consciously finds this attraction flatly unacceptable.
To manage the anxiety arising from this conflict, he over-acts the part of the straight or macho man(Very typical of our Hindi Cinema),
Going out for beer party with others
Speaking in a gruff voice,
Peppering his speech with loud profanities(Socially Offensive language),
Banging his fists on the counter,
Flirting conspicuously with others and so on.

These slides contains the introduction of Albert Bandura. its all about his biography.
Birthdate: December 4, 1925
Birthplace: Mundane in northern Alberta, Canada
He is the youngest child, and only son, in a family of six.
Both of his parents had immigrated to Canada when they were both adolescents; his father from Krakow, Poland and his mother from the Ukraine.
Due to the shortage of teachers and resources, learning was left largely to the students' own initiative.
According to Bandura, because of this limited access to educational resources, the students had to take charge of their own education.
Bandura’s elementary and high school years were spent at the one and only school in town.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

3. Key Summary of the Story
Story began with a guy named John who is currently studying architecture at
university but his grade doesn’t fulfil the minimum requirement of the department
and he might have to drop the studies halfway. John’s mother received John’s
academic result and she was very angry about it. And so, he started to change his
attitude and everything went very fine and at the end, he got the confirmation by
the tutor.

Safety and Security
Extrinsic Motivation.
Fear Based Appeal Persuasion
Stereotyping
Self-Esteem
5. 1st Concept. Safety and Security
• as finding safe circumstances, shelter,
satiability, and protection
• They may also include a need for
structure and order.
When John study the more, he will
feel more safety as well as he will
know his future will going to be very

6. 2nd Concept. Extrinsic Motivation.
• when we take a certain action in response
to external pressure or obligation.
• be done to avoid punishment or earn a
specific reward.
John’s grade is on the cliff of the
satisfaction of the department which his
grade doesn’t fulfil the minimum
requirement. John will take action as to
avoid the punishment (retake or drop the
course).
7. 3rd Concept. Fear Based Appeal Persuasion
• Negative valence that is elicited by a message
designed to prevent a specific action.
• It is the most effective when trying to prevent a
negative outcome.
John’s mum was so angry with John about his
stubbornness and she afraid that John might
retake his course or not going to study
anymore so she scolded him and be very rude
to him.
8. 4th Concept. Stereotyping
• a general belief about a group of people it
differs from prejudice in that it can have
positive or negative connotations.
• It runs the risk of becoming prejudicial and
leading to discrimination.
John’s mum insulted John as if he didn’t get
at least a degree certificate, he won’t be able
to get a proper job and be successful in life.
9. 5th Concept. Self-Esteem
• one’s evaluation of one’s self-worth.
• It involves both your physical and psychological
attributes.
John started to think about his life, and he
started to change his study attitude, and he
get to know more knowledge about
architecture. When he presented his project in
front of his tutor, his tutor liked it very much.
