Fundamentals of Communication -- Day One
This document contains information about a communication class taught by Dr. Corinne Weisgerber on Wednesdays from 10:45-2:00 pm in office D-169. Video Editing
- 1. Editing Video with DaVinci Resolve
- 2. Open Da Vinci and add all the media fi les (except the the KangarooNewsStory.mov) to the media pool. To do so, drag and drop the fi les into the “Media Pool” area
- 3. Remember to change the view to “Edit” by clicking on the edit icon on the bottom of the page.
- 4. Add your media fi les by dragging them to a track. In this case, I’m starting by dragging a photo of a kangaroo to the fi rst track.
- 5. To animate the picture so it works better with video, turn on Dynamic Zoom and select “ease in” or “ease out” from the drop down menu. Your picture will now appear to move a little.
- 6. To add text, click on “E ff ects” and fi nd the type of text you want to add.
- 7. Then drag the text to where you want it to show. In this case, the beginning of the picture. Double-click the text track to type in the text.
- 8. Once you double-click, you will see this area in the top right hand corner of your screen. This is where you can add the text, change the color and font/ font size, adjust the position of the text, etc.
- 9. To add a transition, click “E ff ects” (see previous slides on how to do that), then click “Video Transitions” under “Toolbox”. Select a transition and drag it between two clips.
- 10. When you’re done editing and happy with your project, you need to render the project. I strongly recommend saving it fi rst and then clicking on the rocket icon on the bottom of the page.
- 11. Scroll to “Youtube” and name your fi le. Then click “add to render queue.” Then click on “render all” in the top right hand side of the screen. When it’s done rendering, check your video and upload the fi le to Youtube.
