What to do before you start
editing?
 Import  video clips from you smart phone
  or video camera.
 Sort through them and organize in
  folder(s)
 Make backup copies of the clips to DVD
  or external hard drive.
 Use free video editors: Movie Maker for
  Windows, iMovie for Mac, VideoSpin etc.
Elements of video editors
  Bin - where you keep all your files (video
  clips, audio, images)
 Timeline - where all the clips are cut and
  blended
 Preview - this is the small screen where
  you can watch what you have selected
  in the timeline

Start editing
1.    Give your project a name and save it.
2.    Import your material to the editor.
3.    Drag video clips to the timeline.
4.    Start slicing and trimming.
5.    Once your clips have been split, you can click
      and drag them around and place them in any
      order you choose.
6.    Get familiar with the editor and play around.

Add transitions and text
 Transitions   blend clips together.
 Select the one you want use and drag it
  in-between the two clips where you want
  it occur.
 Text: titles, captions, or credits
  To add text just select the text tool in your
  editor and drag it over the clip where you
  would like for it to appear.
