This document discusses various software programs and websites that can be used for video production. It provides information on iMovie, Keynote, PowerPoint, Windows Movie Maker, YouTube Video Editor, Animoto, Vimeo, VoiceThread, Xtranormal, Stupeflix Studio, Pixorial, and Stroome. 3. iMovie
 Available for Mac (currently iMovie ‘11), iPod Touch (4th
Generation or newer), iPhone 4 (or newer), iPad 2
 Import home video footage, edit clips, add titles and
add music
 Effects include color correction and video enhancement
tools as well as transitions.

4. Keynote
 Part of iWork productivity suite of programs created by
Apple. Available for Mac and iPad.
 Apple’s answer to PowerPoint; includes themes,
transitions, animations. Can export to multiple
programs including QuickTime video formats.

5. PowerPoint
 Currently in 2010 (for Mac) or 2011 (for PC); part of
Microsoft Office suite available for both PC and Mac
computers.
 Add custom animation and transition effects to create a
video (or a game like Jeopardy), or save as QuickTime file.

6. Windows Movie Maker
 Movie Maker for Me, XP and Vista; Live Movie Maker for
later versions of Windows.
 Features effects, transitions, titles/credits, audio track,
timeline narration. Newest version can record clips from
webcam, and features new animated video titles.

 Web application that produces videos from photos,
video clips, and music.

 3 Steps:

Picasa, Photobucket and SmugMug) and add text
 Choose music; upload your own MP3 or choose from their
library
 Watch & Share
 Available as App

10. Vimeo
 Upload and store videos, share and edit.
 Learn how to make better videos from lessons in Vimeo
Video School
 Free and Plus (paid) versions available
 Even The White House posts videos to Vimeo!

11. VoiceThread
 Essentially a multimedia slide show that holds images,
documents and videos and allows users to narrate slides
and leave comments.
 Share with others and allow them to record comments
too. Doodle while commenting, and use multiple
identities to show who made which comments.

12. Xtranormal
 3 Steps:
 Choose from hundreds of actors; you control their
emotions, voices & gestures
 Type or record your dialogue; actors automatically lip-sync
to your words
 Select your backgrounds, pick camera angels and sound
effects
 Not for creating slideshows, but lots of fun for education &
businesses!

13. Stupeflix Studio
 Mix photos, video and music to create stunning videos in
seconds
 Features:
 Themes to give a distinct look & feel to your video
 Import from your computer, directly from Facebook, Flickr
or Picasa albums
 Add text
 Choose music or upload your own
 Add maps
 Include text to speech voice-over

14. Pixorial
 Create digital files of all your old movies – no matter
what format (even videocassette).
 More than a transfer service, once digitized, you can
use their website to edit videos.
 Add transitions, titles, music, put together different
videos to create mashups
 Share easily via email, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube
and/or create custom DVDs.

15. Stroome
 Great for group projects
 Upload footage or use existing clips, edit online. Any
time, anywhere
 Connect with others and build a community
 Edit: remix, trim and add transitions
 Publish to Facebook, blogs or your own website.
