This document discusses three types of compound sentences and complex sentences with adverb clauses. The three types of compound sentences are: sentences joined by a comma and conjunction; sentences joined by a semicolon, transition word, and comma; and sentences joined by just a semicolon to imply an "and" relationship. Complex sentences contain an independent clause and dependent adverb clause, which always begin with words like "while", "after", "before", etc. and include a subject and verb. Dependent clauses cannot stand alone as a complete thought.
