The terms UI and UX (design) are very often and
used as a single term by many people or designers.
The first thing we need to know straight is that UI
and UX are not the same.
Design is a rather broad and huge term. When
someone says “I’m a designer,” it is not that clear
what they actually do. There are a number of
different responsibilities term designer. There are
many aspects of design now a days.
UX is omnipresent nowadays and will grow more and more the tool of innovation. Companies are becoming aware of the vitality of adopting this technology from the start. The Importance of UX is a presentation of how we as a UX Design Team implement UX in projects.
An overview about what UX design is, for a mixture of tech, support and business people (tough mix!).
There are two main points I wanted to get across: 1. UX design is not just about usabllity (and Jakob Nielsen) 2. UX design is a rigorous process (not magic and guesswork).
If you have any feedback about how to make this presentation better, I'd be happy to hear it.
A brief introduction to User Experience (UX) Research (in English and Bahasa Indonesia). This lecture was delivered on 19th February 2019 at Ciputra University, Surabaya, Indonesia.
A word “design” has a very broad meaning and is used in nearly every business or industry. We always have an intuitive awareness of what this is about though. But when we talk about UX and UI design terms, everything is getting a lot more complicated.
What is UI UX design? Is it a generic term? Or UX and UI are two separate concepts? If they are autonomous notions, so why are they always used together? In this article I want to answer all your questions concerning this topic.

Topic: UI/UX DESIGN IN AGILE PROCESS
Why do we integrate design into our Agile process?
As we all know, the Agile Manifesto is well-received and successfully adopted as it is today thanks to the 12 underpinning principles. While “good design” is one main reason that “enhances agility”, “Agile processes promote sustainable development”.
At Axon Active, it’s important for us to do everything Agile and work with one another collaboratively in Collaboration Model. It gets people on the same page, makes everyone engage more with the product, encourages them to share more creative ideas, and gives them the flexibility they need to improve themselves.
Indeed, Designers and Developers can collaborate more closely and effectively, and subsequently integrating design into Agile process will yield numerous benefits.
For that reason, Scrum Breakfast Da Nang this October will be the very chance for you to learn:
• How to successfully integrate design into Agile process in practice
• How different Collaboration Model is from traditional model
• The benefits of Collaboration Model when done correctly

By exploring a case in Ahmedabad, it highlights the challenges and processes in dairy farming across different environments, emphasising the need for sustainable practices and the essential role of milk in daily consumption.
Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

2. What is UCD?
• ‘… user-centred design emphasizes that the purpose of the system is to serve the
user, not to use a specific technology, not to be an elegant piece of programming.
The needs of the users should dominate the design of the interface, and the needs
of the interface should dominate the design of the rest of the system.’
(Norman 1986)
3. DEFINITION
• User Centred Design (UCD) is
an iterative methodology that
puts the user at the centre of all
design decisions.
• UCD is a DESIGN philosophy
and approach enabled by a
wealth of disciplines and design
methods.
4.
5. • The ultimate goal of UCD is to optimize a user's experience of a system, product, or
process.
• UCD looks to realize this goal by considering the user perspective during all phases
of the development lifecycle.
GOALS
6. 1. Identifying the need
• Research
• Contextual enquiry
• Interviews
• Surveys
• Workshops
• User Scenarios
• ContentAnalysis
• Strategy
Development
• User Profiles
10. • The end user or customer is who you are designing the product or service for.The
whole point is to keep checking design progress with actual users. It is extremely
difficult – if not impossible – to ‘imagine’ yourself into the shoes of someone else.
GUIDELINES
11. • Research activities should be
carried out all the way through the
development process; right from
idea generating activities at the
start to full ‘confirmation’ field
trials near to product launch.
12. • Use the findings from research
activities to refine, and if necessary
redefine assumptions and design
specifications throughout
the development process.
Embrace the new information you
have learnt!
13. • Money spent up-front ironing
out design and usability issues
is exponentially cheaper than
redesigns and retooling later
on.
14. • UCD must be multidisciplinary. It is
important for all users to understand
the implications of everyone else's
requirements.
15. • Findings and recommendations from research activities need to be evidence based,
believable, actionable, and inspiring.
16. THE PERSPECTIVES OF USERS
• Needs and wants
• Goals, motivation, and triggers
• Obstacles and limitations
• Geography and language
• Environment and gear
• Work life and experience
17.
18. HUMAN CENTERED DESIGN
“… human-centered design (HCD), an approach that puts human needs, capabilities, and
behaviour first, then designs to accommodate those needs, capabilities, and ways of
behaving. Good design starts with an understanding of psychology and technology. Good
design requires good communication, especially from machine to person, indicating what
actions are possible, what is happening, and what is about to happen. Communication is
especially important when things go wrong. It is relatively easy to design things that work
smoothly and harmoniously as long as things go right.”
(Norman D., Design of EverydayThings)
19. HUMAN CENTERED DESIGN
“ … is a design philosophy. It means starting with a good understanding of people and the
needs that the design is intended to meet. This understanding comes about primarily through
observation, for people themselves are often unaware of their true needs, even unaware of the
difficulties they are encountering. Getting the specification of the thing to be defined is one of
the most difficult parts of the design, so much so that the HCD principle is to avoid specifying
the problem as long as possible but instead to iterate upon repeated approximations.”
(Norman D., Design of EverydayThings)
20. • According to the ISO definition: Human-centered design is a creative approach to
interactive systems development that aims to make systems usable and useful by
focusing on the users, designing around their needs and requirements at all
stages, and by applying human factors/ergonomics, usability knowledge, and
techniques. This approach enhances effectiveness and efficiency improves human
well-being, user satisfaction, accessibility and sustainability; and counteracts
possible adverse effects of use on human health, safety and performance. ISO
9241-210:2010(E).

about the people who are crossing it.”
