Multimedia
Multimedia is the use of multiple media types such as text, audio, graphics, animation, video and interactivity to convey information. Images are made up of pixels, which are tiny dots that make up the image. The number of pixels and bits per pixel determine image resolution and color depth. Data compression is used to reduce file sizes, and can be either lossless, preserving all image data, or lossy, which discards some data. Common graphic file formats include BMP, GIF and JPEG, which use different compression schemes and are better suited for different types of images. Tuckman's group development (Introduction)
Groups go through different stages as outlined in Tuckman's Group Development model. The stages are forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning. During forming, group members are polite and avoid conflict. In storming, differences are challenged. Norming occurs as the group finds harmony. Performing is when the group reaches full potential. Adjourning happens after goals are achieved and the group disbands. Understanding these stages helps groups improve teamwork and productivity.

Stage 3: Norming
• LEADERSHIP IS SHARED AND CLIQUES DISSOLVED.
• CONFLICTS ARE RESOLVED AND THERE IS A STRONGER SENSE OF BELONGING TO THE GROUP.
• CREATIVITY IS HIGH.
• PEOPLE KNOW WHERE THEY FIT IN AND WHAT IS EXPECTED OF THEM.
Stage 4: Performing
• NOW THE GROUP IS IN HIGH GEAR AND HIGHLY PRODUCTIVE. THE NEED FOR GROUP APPROVAL IS PAST.
• GROUP MEMBERS CAN NOW FOCUS ON THE TASK AND CARE FOR OTHER MEMBERS OF THE GROUP.
• GROUP IDENTITY IS COMPLETE, GROUP MORALE IS HIGH, AND GROUP LOYALTY IS INTENSE.
Stage 5: RE-FORMING
• THIS STAGE OCCURS WHEN THE TASKS ARE COMPLETED AND THERE NO LONGER IS A NEED FOR THE GROUP TO EXIST.

From Natural Language to Structured Solr Queries using LLMs
This talk draws on experimentation to enable AI applications with Solr. One important use case is to use AI for better accessibility and discoverability of the data: while User eXperience techniques, lexical search improvements, and data harmonization can take organizations to a good level of accessibility, a structural (or “cognitive” gap) remains between the data user needs and the data producer constraints.
That is where AI – and most importantly, Natural Language Processing and Large Language Model techniques – could make a difference. This natural language, conversational engine could facilitate access and usage of the data leveraging the semantics of any data source.
The objective of the presentation is to propose a technical approach and a way forward to achieve this goal.
The key concept is to enable users to express their search queries in natural language, which the LLM then enriches, interprets, and translates into structured queries based on the Solr index’s metadata.
This approach leverages the LLM’s ability to understand the nuances of natural language and the structure of documents within Apache Solr.
The LLM acts as an intermediary agent, offering a transparent experience to users automatically and potentially uncovering relevant documents that conventional search methods might overlook. The presentation will include the results of this experimental work, lessons learned, best practices, and the scope of future work that should improve the approach and make it production-ready.
