There are three main types of city layouts: orthogonal/grid plans which consist of straight, wide streets crossing at right angles in a checkerboard pattern; radiocentric plans with streets radiating out from a central point and forming concentric circles; and irregular plans without a defined geometric shape formed by short, narrow streets of irregular layout. Examples of grid and radiocentric plans include Barcelona and an unnamed city, while Córdoba demonstrates an irregular layout.
