This document discusses upgrading an information skills training module at City University London. The university aimed to create a standalone, engaging, and interactive module using new technologies like Adobe Presenter and quizzes in the virtual learning environment. While creating consistent content across support services presented challenges, talking slideshows and flexibility to add content were successes. Looking ahead, the university plans to embed the module in courses, create new formats like podcasts, and ensure new content meets student needs.
The idea of a “free” Learning Management System may be quite compelling to campuses interested in reducing costs; however, it’s not that simple. Learn how NC State University is moving to Moodle as an open source solution where resources are redirected to give our campus flexibility and control. If there are other institutions interested in very similar open source LMS topics for a panel discussion, we would be interested in participating in that in lieu of, or in addition to, a lecture-style presentation, if appropriate.
These slides were shared with participants who attended one of the breakout sessions at the 2002 Syllabus Conference in California. Information was presented at the session regarding how to narrate and stream PowerPoint slides.

Micro ID for Problem-Based and Game-Based Learning
Instructional design is both a process (macro) and a strategy (micro). Micro instructional design models should provide a formula for designing user experience, engagement and interaction that supports learning. Join this online session to explore David Merrill’s Pebble in the Pond (PiP) instructional design model for problem-based learning and consider how it can also be applied to game-based learning design.

Utilizing Web-based programming learning environment in University teachingViope Solutions Ltd
This session presents user experiences from a web-based learning environment for computer programming. In this system, students write programs, which are then automatically tested and results are reported back to the students immediately showing their mistakes. The environment allows the teachers to follow student progress and react, when there are signals indicating problems in learning. It is also possible to compare the students’ program codes in order to detect plagiarism. The learning environment includes a theory part of each programming language making it possible for the students to study whenever they want and wherever they want. The system is fully web-based and locates on the service provider’s server, so the users do not need to install anything. In practice, traditional classroom is not necessarily needed and teaching or support can be provided globally. Surveys show that the students appreciate the freedom the system offers and also the immediate feedback.

In the era of shared educational resources and increased open access publications, the use of Institutional Repositories is becoming more and more relevant. Whether course materials, textbooks, syllabi, video lectures and conferences, educational resources can be shared with a community of on-campus and off-campus students, and can be made available to a global audience as well. The potential of institutional repositories to help foster change within the academy is significant. Join us for a presentation and discussion of Otterbein’s Institutional Repository- Digital Commons @ Otterbein! You will learn and brainstorm with our peer faculty on how to make use of this tool to enhance teaching, learning and research.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
