The Importance of the First Scene in the Film Version of...
Romeo and juliet written in 1595, is one of the most famous plays of the 16th century, set in
Verona. It was cleverly written by William Shakespeare, who is one of the most renowned writers
of all time and the play was later produced as movie in 1996 staring Leonardo Dicaprio and Claire
Danes. The play is still popular as it contains universal themes of loveand hate that can still be
related to today.
One of the importances of the first scene of the play is to introduce the audience to the majority of
the lead charecters such as Romeo and Juliet, Benvolio and Tybalt, Sampson and Gregory, Lord
and Lady Capulet, Lord and Lady Montague and Prince. Along with the different themes and use of
language, which varies from crude to poetic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I hate the word and continues to say the word hate throughout the play which suggests he s
uncivil which eventually backfires on him later on in the play. Sampson and Gregory are clearly
shown to be the better and more civil charecters as they The language used is insulting such as A
dog of the house of Montague moves me. which basically means anything from the house
Montague even a dog, they have no respect for therefore they wouldn t move out of it s way and
would let it walk in the dirt. It s significant that the fight between the Montagues and Capulets starts
first among the servants as it shows that both houses have lower status charecters in that share the
same hatred for the opposite houses as the higher status charecters do. Shakespeares use of
language is clever as you have to look within what the Capulets said to find the true insult. The fight
between the two houses grabs the attention of the audience straight away with it s witty use of
language and action. It also starts with the question that lingers throughout the rest of the play
which is why exactly have they hated eachother for so long and so strongly?
All this builds up tension and the crowd are constantly on the edge of their seats waiting for the
events to happen that they have been told about, the fight is witnessed by the prince who decides
anymore fighting will end in exile if they carry on. In a way the Prince is

Water Bottle Vs. Non-Insulated Control Bottle
The water bottles insulation was effective, because when comparing the average change in
temperature from the beginning to the end for the insulated bottle (which is 2.7 C) and the non
insulated control bottle (which is 3.9 C), there is a 1.2 C difference in temperature change. To
improve my current design, I could model it more after the design of a thermos, a flask that
effectively keeps liquids hot or cold. I could add a layer of silver on the inside to prevent heatfrom
coming in and escaping the bottle by radiation, or a thin layer of glass on the outside to prevent
heat from entering or leaving the bottle by conduction. A more simple improvement could simply
be to add more tinfoil, to prevent less heat from escaping and create more of

Explain The Extent Between The Federalists And The 1790s
order to stop sole control of power, the Constitution deliberately dispersed said power between the
member states and the national government. This had the effect of a fragmented government
structure where co ordination was in short supply and control lay in a plethora of discordant
hands. The realisation that this could only be overcome via the coming together of similar
minded folk who could, in turn, appropriate the presidency and control congress dawned, and the
1790 s heralded two American national parties, The Federalists and the Republicans. However,
this does not mean that there was a complete absence of political activity prior to the 1790 s. The
exact opposite is in fact true. There was already large social, racial and economic disjuncture...

Questions of national interest consumed both parties focus and naturally, drew their attention
beyond state lines. Support had to be drawn from all over the country, the Federalists, from the
banking, commercial and financial interests and the Republicans, from small farmers, debtors,
southern planters and frontier settlers .They could not afford to be exclusive parties. The dangers of
a narrowly based coalition were acute and as such, both parties needed to increase their support.
Otherwise, neither party would have the slightest chance of gaining a majority vote and in turn
winning the presidency. This, according to many scholars, can be held accountable for the
extremely broad scope of the two modern American parties that are almost indiscernible from one
another. Parties must be adept to the changing patterns of American life. Indeed, the failures of the
Federalist and Whig parties in pervious years can be attributed to their stubborn resistance to
widening their coalition. Both of the modern parties have taken valuable lessons from these
failures, although lapses in attention have seen them suffer electorally in the

Narrative Voice In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold the concept of a community setting
strongly based upon traditional roots, and is capable to do so through a variety of characters all
with a displaced memory of a tragic event in the history of the small town. Each of these
characters displayed by Marquez is on a thin line of uprooting his or her destined religious system
of faith. In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Marquez highlights the narrator s voice containing a tone
of cultural influence and societal imbalance because of the novels non chronological unraveling of
events, it becomes necessary for an objective outsider to notice the downfall of society by two
conflicting problems. The primary form of narrator s characterization, the reader possesses the
capability to analyze the related roles of characters within the novel as centered around the
obligations of both faith and family. Furthermore, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, through the deployment
of magical realism, allows these characters to become less superficial by nature of communicating
a realistic perception of events in the midst of a mundane society. This can be argued to be much
less superficial than, if the novel used... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ecclesiastes Death Equalizer
Death being the great equalizer has been a popular phrase for a very long time. In Ecclesiastes,
It is explained what death being the great equalizer means. Ecclesiastes 9 1 2 (NLT) reads This,
too, I carefully explored: Even though the actions of godly and wise people are in God s hands,
no one knows whether God will show them favor. The same destiny ultimately awaits everyone,
whether righteous or wicked, good or bad, ceremonially clean or unclean, religious or irreligious.
Good people receive the same treatment as sinners, and people who make promises to God are
treated like people who don t. What these verses are saying is no matter who you are or what you
do, deathis something we all share and it s something we re all going to meet eventually. So there s
a question to be asked, why be righteous and follow God... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Continuing with Ecclesiastes 9, it goes on to say one should enjoy their lives and live then to
the fullest because the lives we live in the living world is meaningless. Ecclesiates 9 7 8 (NIV)
reads Whatever they did in their lifetime loving, hating, envying is all long gone. They no longer
play a part in anything here on earth. 7 So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine
with a happy heart, for God approves of this! 8 Wear fine clothes, with a splash of cologne!?
Although many times in Ecclesiastes it says what we do in life is meaningless, it still
encourages people to be wise and the characteristics of the wise person and the fool are still the
same as they are in Proverbs and other wisdom literature in the Bible. What s different about
Ecclesiastes is it tells you not to be over wise and destroy yourself and it also says the same thing
about wickedness. It tells you to basically stay as neutral as you can and avoid extremes because
falling more into one side than the other will cause your own destruction. It says this in Ecclesiastes

Analysis Of Bullet In The Brain By Tobias Wolff
The short story Bullet in the Brain by Tobias Wolff brings the reader to the attention of how one s
life can be influenced by something as timid as a word (Von Ancken). In this story, a protagonist is
a man by the name of Anders, who is a book critic. The story starts with Anders arriving at the bank
just before it closes. The line is really long and he is stuck in line with two loud ladies who drive
him crazy with their stupid conversation. He is characterized as, weary, elegant savagery with
which he dispatched almost everything he reviewed (Wolff). He is also portrayed as a man who
is miserable and constantly criticizing his surroundings. Even as he waits in the line at the bank,
his sarcastic comments do not stop to represent his perspective of his disappointment of the world.
When one of the tellers closed her window, Anders conveys a hatred towards the teller s action by
stating, Damned unfair, he said. Tragic, really. If they re not chopping off the wrong leg, or
bombing your ancestral village, they re closing their positions (Wolff). When reading the story, it
was difficult to determine whether Anders had sympathy towards anything in life as he argues and
makes sarcastic remarks to the ladies. However, when the short storywas viewed as a film, it was
learned that Anders was a character that had sympathy towards life. Unlike the written story, the
film starts with Anders in a classroom lecturing his students. The difference in the beginning of the
story has

Dancer In The Dark And The Piano Analysis
Compare the ways in which Lars von Trier, in Dancer in the Dark, and Jane Campion in The Piano,
explore the idea that hope can be found even in the midst of the most adverse circumstances. In the
film, Dancer in the Dark, and the movie, The Piano, Lars von Trier and Jane Campion respectively
utilise various literary and circumstances. The historical contextual settings of both texts
encapsulate worlds of destruction in which the central female protagonists, Ada Mcgrath and Selma
Jezkova, withstand the understanding between the native Maori people towards the scripted and
sterile play which served as a form of happiness and communal gathering for Victorian Europeans
suggests that different forms of expression such as drama and music often lacks understanding
when compared to reality. Contrastingly, in the musical interludes, von Trier explores the idea that
creativity brings a sense of connection and unity through the use of artificial lighting, saturated
colour palette, non diegetic sound track and head shots and long shots exposing a community
singing, dancing and embracing. The vibrancy and liveliness in these musical scenes directly
contrasts with the raw reduction in the reality scenes and ultimately suggests that musicals create a
hopeful and reconciliatory world where, contrasting Campion s, there is always someone to catch
you when you fall. While creativity provides an escape from harsh reality, both Campion and von
Trier explore the idea that this is only

An Evaluation Of A Uk Public Limited Manufacturing Company
Introduction
This report is an evaluation provided to a finance director of a UK public limited manufacturing
company, whose subsidiaries are around the world. The company s stock is trading on the London
Stock Exchange. The report is going to provide some information about working capital
management (WCM).
It is commonly known that working capital investment has become a large proportion in a firm s
balance sheet. According to Bank of Belgium, the proportion of accounts receivable, payment and
inventory were respectively 17%, 13% and 10% of total assets of all Belgian nonfinancial firms in
1997 (Deloof, 2003). There is a similar situation in Spanish firms: there is 69% current assets of
total assets and 52% current liabilities of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, firms may lose the early payment discount offered by its suppliers, which may
result in more finance costs (Wong, 2002).
Trade receivable: Trade receivable may boost sales because it allows customers to access product s
quality before paying. The flip side of trade receivable is that capital would be locked in working
capital, as a result the company s financial department may face cash flow and liquidity problems
(Jose, Lancaster and Stevens, 1996; Lazaridis and Tryfonidis, 2006).
Inventory: A larger inventory reduces the risk of stock out and it is also a vehicle to increase
sales. The negative side of inventory is the same as trade receivable (Nazir and Afza, 2009;
Deloof, 2003). Lazaridis and Tryfonidis (2006) states that an optimum level of inventory will have
a direct effect on profitability since it will release cash invested in working capital and could also
respond to a high demand.
The measurement of WC
Cash conversion cycle (CCC) is a widely used WC measurement, which is the time lag between
the raw material purchase and the collection of finished goods. The CCC can be calculated as:
The cash conversion cycle = Number of days accounts receivable + Number of days inventory
Number of days accounts payable payments. In real business operations, CCC as whole and each
parts of CCC could be used to measure the efficiency of WCM (Deloof, 2003; GarcГa Teruel and

Reflection Of Visual Art
1a. Central focus for the segment
The central focus of the lesson is for students to demonstrate and show use of space, contrast, and
balance while creating an original idea that displays and the use of positive and negative space in
an equal amount. The purpose is for students to understand the elements and principles of visual arts
, which are value, contrast and balance. Students also learn how these concepts are still being used
in today s society.
1b. Linking skills, knowledge, and context
This is a first year class, so many students are unfamiliar with terms, such as value, contrast, space,
and balance, in terms of art. The students are familiar with the words, but are unfamiliar with how it
pertains to art. New definitions and techniques are introduced in this lesson. Students will continue
to use these new vocabulary terms in future lessons.
In this project students are required to make a total positive space image. To complete this,
students are to use line and shape in their design. The previous projects and lessons in this course
focused on the use of line and shape, so this project reinforces those terms and techniques so
students will use them in future projects.
The last aspect of this assignment is for students to see how the use of space makes interesting
designs. I show the students images of logos and symbols that effectively use positive and negative
space. With this, students can relate to the images and see how these techniques are still being used

Daniel Chapter 3 Hebrew Men Analysis
In this essay I will be writing about The Three Hebrew Men. This story comes from the book of
Daniel chapter 3. It is about three men whose names were: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
The bible makes us to understand that the king of the Babylon empire at that time was king
Nebuchadnezzar. The story starts off when Nebuchadnezzar built a statute of Gold. Then he
invited important people from all over the land to come and see the statute that he built. Daniel
chapter 3 verse 4 5 says: Then a herald cried aloud: To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations,
and languages, that at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in
symphony with all kinds of music, you shall fall down and worship the gold image that King
Nebuchadnezzar has set up. king Nebuchadnezzar had asked all the people who came to see the
statue to fall down and worship the statue. Meanwhile it is written in the bible that when the
Israelites where in the wilderness God gave them the 10 commandments. When king

king: O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If that is the case, our
God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us
from your hand, O king. (Daniel 3:16 17). They replied to him with confidence. Hey refused to be

White Collar And Organized Crime Essay
White Collar And Organized Crime
In the twentieth century, White Collar and Organized Crimes have attracted the attention of the
U.S. Criminal Justice System due to the greater cost to society than most normal street crime. Even
with the new attention by the Criminal Justice System, both are still pretty unknown to the general
public. Although we know it occurs, due to the lack of coverage and information, society does not
realize the extent of these crimes or the impact. White Collar and Organized is generally crime

They also increase the drug trafficking and pay off corrupt officials by extortion or intimidation
which helps them continue their operations. Although the FBI is unsure of how much impact there
is, they estimate it to be around $1 trillion a year, globally.
The FBI has created an organized crime program that focuses on the crimes and criminal enterprises
that are creating the greatest threat to America. They have three units which are focused on La
Cosa Nostra, Italian organized crime and racketeering. Also included are Middle Eastern, Asian and
African criminal enterprises. The framework of the program is based on pursuing targets that have
ties to national and international criminal enterprises and breaking them down; relying on
flexibility to aid in pursuing organized crime by regions that are conducting racketeering activities.
They have also partnered with people globally to assist in information during investigations. Italy
and Hungary are included in this partnership. By partnering with other countries, tackling these
groups of people becomes easier.
One of the largest Organized crime bust occurred in 2011. Close to 130 members of the New York

Ordinary Men by Christopher Browning
The purpose of history is to understand the past so that we can take wisdom from those
experiences and improve the present and the future. The events that occurred during the Final
Solution are so horrendous that often it is viewed as so repugnant that we label the people
involved as purely evil, they are dehumanized. This is dangerous, as it doesn t allow us to obtain
wisdom, perspective, and empathy for those involved. Ordinary Men allows an opportunity to see
these events from the eyes of the perpetrators and their journey that led to what seems to people
today as ruthless, unscrupulous murder. When in fact these people were literally ordinary men who
were introduced to unordinary circumstances which caused them to abandon their humanity. If we
discredit these people as inhuman we fail to learn the lessons of human nature so we can avoid
them in the future. Winston Churchill embodies the lessons learned from Ordinary Men as he said
Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The massacrein Jozefow was first to
introduce the men of Battalion 101 to mass murder. The orders were that males of working age
were to be sent Lublin to serve as work Jews, while the women, children and the elderly were to be
exterminated by gunshot immediately. Major Wilhelm Trapp, the battle commander, found these
orders repulsive and one of his officers having learned about the upcoming massacre asked to be
reassigned to avoid the impending violence; his request was

Affective Statement Analysis
Affective statements. Affective statements are a primary practice used school wide and
according to Mirsky (2011) are the practice that underpins all of the Whole School Change

Two basic circle types exist in the SaferSanerSchools model: proactive and responsive
(Mirsky, 2011). Teachers participate in circles, which helps to humanize them to students
(Mirsky, 2011). Proactive circles build trust, relationships, and create shared values and
understanding (Mirsky, 2011). These circles start as light and build in depth (Mirsky, 2011).
Examples of initial topics for a proactive circle could include helping students with academic
planning or setting ground rules for class expectations. Practice with proactive circles scaffolds a
student s readiness for responsive circles. Proactive circles manage tension and conflict within a
group or class and aim to repair damage (Mirsky, 2011). These circles are used for moderate
issues or repeated behavior affecting the group (Mirsky, 2011).
The restorative conference. The restorative conference is a tertiary practice that is

Analysis Of Disney Cartoons From Disney
I watched all of THE BOOZE HANGS HIGH, RED HOT RIDING HOOD, MONKEY
DOODLE, FAST AND FURRY OUS, and AN OPTICAL POEM. These animations were very
different from the likes of Disney. I noticed that almost all of these animations were meant for
adults definitely not children. I also realized that the animation styles were different from
Disney. Pigs drinking booze, Red Riding Hood as a burlesque singer, lustful monkeys looking at
naked female monkeys with proper human anatomy, Road Runner being blown to smithereens
by Coyote. Just think about all the scenes I just described. Would you want your children being
exposed to these things? I believe most commendable parents even nowadays would say HELL
NO!! I was baffled and surprised at how cartoons of this time were not meant for kids. This
seemed so backward to me, growing up watching LOONEY TOONS as a kids show. I think that
cartoons started this way due to the people who were going out to the movies and watching these
cartoons were adults. Adults don t want to watch cartoons that appeal to children when they are on
a date or trying to get time away from their kids. In contrast, from Disney, the competition saw an
untouched market. Disney quickly began to focus their cartoons toward children. The competition,
on the other hand, marketed to a more mature audience. Making studios like Warner Brothers have
a lucrative stake in the animation business. The hilarity of it is that these days THE LOONEY
TOONS cartoons are kid friendly they won t even show the episode where Elmer Fud kills Bugs
Bunny. The fact that the competitor s studios decided to aim for a more mature audience shows
me two things. The first is the studios did not believe they could compete head to head with
Disney. Lastly, it shows that the studios were not scared to create cartoons that were lewd. In
essence, the competing studios handled their published animations in a business minded way.
They decided not to compete head on with Disney but to offset themselves from Disney s
audience and reach the audience that made and held the money. In PLANE CRAZY no
background is the same. In MONKEY DOODLE and FAST AND FURRY OUS, we observe the
same background scene used more than once in a scene that

Sexual Promiscuity During The Cold War
Another example that corroborate to the message of domesticity during the Cold War was nuclear
annihilation and the nuclear containment culture. The Red Scare fostered a climate of fear and

parents; mannish women mocked the ideals of marriage and motherhood. In addition to this, with
the looming threat of nuclear annihilation increased paranoia and propaganda that led to the linking

marker of wealth and ultimately a prosperous capitalist society. However, with this belief came
increased rigid gender roles which discourage women from pursing professional career. Women
who challenged these traditional gender roles placed the nation security at risk because it would
lead them to sexual promiscuity. Despite this, many women did not leave the labor force. With the
influx of women into the workforce, many fears such as sexual promiscuity, neglected children
and women violating biological nature emerged. Furthermore, sex was was out of control, their
was widespread premarital intercourse, homosexual activities and extramarital sex among
American men an women. In order to avoid these dangerous and adhere to family values,
marriage was considered the solution, especially early marriage as the prerequisite for a healthy
family and sexual life. Domesticity was portrayed as a safe haven from the dangers of the atomic

Research Paper On Hildegard Von Bingen
Kyrsten Oliva
Enriched Accomplishments
Today on the top of poetry s best seller lists, and classical music s top ten list lies Hildegard von
Bingen. Although she lived 900 years her works are considered to be masterpieces even today.
She was the last of 10 children and was born near Mainz in Germany in 1098. Hildegard von
Bingen was a mystic woman that stood out from the rest, during her infant years she had said that
God had come to her, but she was too young to express it. By eight years old she took on the
spiritual life, and by fifteen she became a nun and vocalized her experiences and visions to others.
In doing so, Hildegard von Bingen removed herself from marriage, motherhood, and traditional
medieval women s work.

On My Dear Grandchild Simon Bradstreet
On My Dear Grandchild Simon Bradstreet, Who Died on 16 November 1669, being but a
Month, and One Day Old, is about the death of poet Anne Bradstreet s grandchild. She
personifies God as a gardener whom harvests the grandson Simon and his two sisters. She seems
to find ways to understand the situation and remain true to her faith. The internal conflict in
Bradstreet s poem is to retain her trust and faith while accepting the tragedy of her grandchild.
Bradstreet struggles with the loss of her faith in God by hiding her feelings but she eventually
accepts the loss the loved ones as being a part of God s plan. Bradstreet uses the term cropped to
explain how God plants us a seed but eventually dies. Due to the short period of Simon Bradstreet...

Liberalism vs. Socialism
When looking into different political theories there are many different views and even more
political opinions on what is best for any one nation and their citizens. In order to fully understand
any component of government we must understand its underlying political ideologies and the
beliefs behind its policies and views. Liberalism, conservatism, socialism, fascism, feminism, and
environmentalism are well known political ideologies. Each ideology has drastic differences of
views relating to equality, power, freedom, and justice. Let s shift the focus by showing just how
drastic these differences and concepts can be between the ideologies by looking at liberalism and

This forced British radicals, from the 1790s to the 1820s to emphasize the importance of natural
rights and popular sovereignty in areas concerning government.
Now that we understand the liberalist side of things, let s look into the socialist government.
Socialism emphasizes much different views compared to liberalism. Socialism is based on the
theory of collectivism meaning human beings are social by nature, not individuals, and society
should respect this and refrain from acting in an individualistic manner. It also believes in public
ownership of property by society and government, not individuals, which gives controls of
production and property of most companies to the government. Furthermore, the socialistic idea of
central economic planning replaces any free market liberal view of class and wealth. This allows
the government to own and control the economy in an attempt to make everyone equal in terms of
wealth and standards of living. This promotes the idea of economic equality among citizen s instead
forcing people to work for what they have because it supports wealth redistribution.
People of a Socialist government rely heavily on their government in terms of control the means of
production such as manufacturing and agriculture. Socialist governments are also responsible for
and control their countries economic systems within the central government. An example of a
socialist government is The Socialist Republic of Vietnam, an ancient empire,

Since these may be complimentary, the combined organization may have the capacity to catch a
larger number of customers than they would as individual. For instance, the consequence of

3)Penetration of market: By merging, the new organization is supposedly furnished with access to

markets, instead of generally just as contending in the same one.

How Is Rain Used In The Game Of Thrones
The Game of Thrones series has always had lots of symbolism and biblical references, but the
red wedding scene in the book and in the television show rank among the highest in terms of
symbolism and allusions. One of the biggest symbols in this chapter is the rain that is described in
the beginning of the chapter. The rain is not just used to describe the bleak mood in the setting, but
George R.R. Martin uses it to force all of the people at the wedding into one place, for the events
that are about to unfold during the wedding. In the television show we see the mud on the ground
that the rain creates that shows the readers how dirty the people at the wedding are. Another

In this chapter we have a lot of biblical elements coming into play. We see Harry die, and go to a
purgatory like place where he has to make a choice to keep living and fight or pass away and
ride the train to Heaven. He chooses to live and fight, this choice of him coming back to life
signifies him becoming the Christ like figure in the story. Another example that would allude to
him being a Christ like figure is that Lord Voldemort has a snake with him almost all of the time.
The snake is a big symbol of Satan, and Harry has to overcome the snake in order to become
victorious. One more big point from How to Read Literature Like a Professor in this chapter of
Harry Potter is never stand next to the hero. In the final battle scenes of Harry Potter and the
Deathly Hallows we see almost all of our favorite characters die. This is all because J.K. Rowling
decided they needed to die in order for Harry to progress as a character. In the final scenes we see
Fred Weasley, Remus Lupin, and Tonks all die. This forces Harry to mature as a character as

The Deregulation Of Domestic Financial Sector
Today, it is considered to be a common knowledge, that the deregulation of domestic financial
sector and opening of capital account of the balance of payments played a major role in the
recent economic crisis of 2007 08. Policies, that have been stated above can be put together and
named as the liberalization of the capital account. Liberalization stands for lessening of
government regulations and restrictions in the economy. It offers a certain sector of the
economy an opportunity to compete internationally. However, there are a number of risks
connected with liberalization, which will be discussed later in this paper. Thus, the question is
as follows: is liberalization worth the risk, or a wise implementation of capital controls leads to
potentially more positive outcomes for the global economy? Since late 1970 s and up until the
Great Recession, the ultimate goal of many economies of the world was to move towards a fully
opened capital account. In theory, this would allow a more efficient allocation of global financial
resources: capital would flow from rich industrial economies into rising, yet poor developing
countries where it would contribute to economic growth by increasing consumption and level of
income. The amount of capital inflows in developing countries tripled from approximately $50
billion in 1987 1989 to $150 billion in 1995 19971. During these years, many economies of Latin
America and Asia, which had some of the most opened capital accounts in the world,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bioremediation

Bioremediation is a process which employs microorganisms like bacteria, fungi, actinomycetes and
algae for the cleanup of the environment contaminated with pollutants. Bioremediation is of many
types, which are biostimulation, bioaugmentation, intrinsic bioremediation, phytoremediation,
bioventing, bioleaching, land farming, composting, rhizofiltration and bioreactors. Biostimulation
refers to the method where the environment acts as the stimulant and it stimulates or motivates the
microorganisms to carry out bioremediation. This stimulant is usually in the form of nutrients made
available to these microorganisms. The nutrients supplied are either carbon sources, nitrogen
sources, phosphate, electron acceptors etc. bioaugmentation is the introduction of certain actively
growing microflora which in turn induce the resident microflora to carry out the bioremediation
process. Intrinsic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The contaminated sites are directly treated using the microorganisms. Underground petroleum pipes
sometimes have leakages. Such sites of contamination are directly treated with microorganisms that
can degrade petroleum hydrocarbons. The same is applicable in case of oil spills and heavy metal

pollutants and make them less available in the soil. Some examples of such plants are mustard,
alpine pennycress, hemp and pigweed. When the soil which is to be treated with the
microorganisms is stimulated by providing it with oxygen, it is known as bioventing. Bioleaching
is a process where living organisms or microorganisms are used to extract metals from their
respective ores. This process ensures that there is not much expenditure of both chemicals and
energy to bring about the extraction. Land farming refers to amending the soil with organic

Abstract
The purpose of the assignment is to determine if Interactive White Boards enhance teaching and
learning for teachers and their students. According to research, two thirds of all teachers feel they
are not at all prepared to incorporate technology into their teaching. This is a distressing discovery
because this means that sixty six percent of our teachers, who we rely on for intellectual leadership,
and forthcoming high tech comprehension, are not at all technologically embellished. The
comforting fabrication that we tell ourselves is that we are coming into a new era where
technologically debilitated teachers will soon be retiring, and will be replaced by youthful,

Students who responded affirmatively mentioned that they felt they learned better because the
visual aspects of the whiteboard made it easier to understand what the teacher was teaching. They
also mentioned that, when the teacher used the whiteboard, the lessons were much more
interesting. For example, one student stated, It makes me pay attention to the teacher more. When

Lacking dairy products, flour, and sugar their meal was quite different from Americans today. The

African Leaders Established The Organisation Of African...
Introduction
In the 21st Century, the African continent leaders wanted to establish a more united continent. It
is for this reason that the African leaders established the Organisation of African Unity in 1963,
with the purpose of eradicating colonialism in Africa, and harmonize and deepen collaboration
efforts of member states to achieve a better life for its people. A number of problems emerged
such as the 1975 Angolan civil war and the Somalia invasion of Ethiopia 1978, besides most
African economies were on the decline, these issues among others weakened the competence of
the OAU. Beginning of 1999 certain leaders began to question why the OAU failed to prevail and
resolve the social ills that afflicted Africa (Bujra 2002) Therefore, the OAU was scrapped and the
African Union was established on 9th July 2002 with the key objective of upholding peace, security
and stability on the African continent. Ever since, the AU has launched military operations to help
control clashes in Burundi, Sudan, Somalia and the Comoros. This paper will discuss the Darfur
Crisis which militarily escalated in 2003. The deployment of AMIS took place in a complex context
representing the first real test of the AU s peacekeeping capacity ,( Ouguergouz Yusufu 2012, p.

Providing evidence supporting the points proposed by Yoyette, M. Bietak s article Avaris the
Capital of the Hyksos explores the most recent excavation at Tell el Dab`a, which is the modern site
at the location of Avaris. Following on from the information Yoyette addressed, Bietak indicates that
there was a struggle with determining the location of the site Tanis, as compounded information
suggested it was the either the site Avaris or Pi Ramesses.
The article goes on to analyse the excavations in the late 20th century by the Austrian Archeological
Institute in Cairo and the Institute of Egyptology of the University of Vienna (Bietak 1996 40).
Again a problem surfaced when multiple artifacts confused the two sites of Pi Ramesses and
Avaris, such as retrieved portals belonging to houses of high officials from the Ramesside period.
Findings such as these only reinforced the view that the site of Tell el Dab`a was Piramesses.
Egyptologist Labib Habachi confirmed through his research and findings that the site was infact
Avaris, capital of the Hyksos (Bietak 1996, 40).
Bietak s document then looks into the architecture of the site, as well as surrounding agriculture,
geographical location in regard to water sources and viable materials and the distance between
Qantir and Tell el Dab`a.
Both Yoyette s and Bietak s articles discuss the close proximities of Avaris and Pi Ramesses.

Health Benefits Of Hunting
Each year, hunters contribute billions of dollars to the economy and conservation efforts. Sadly,
without these conservationists, all of the land that is maintained for outdoor recreation would be

indirectly benefiting everything else in the area. The hunters pay for a majority of the land used for
bird watching, hiking, and other outdoor sports. Lately, huntinghas been under fire for no longer

It is a type of underwater tunnel. It consists of segments which are constructed somewhere else and
are then floated at the tunnel site to be linked together. These tunnels are normally used together
with other tunnel construction methods like bored tunnel, etc. This method is commonly used for
road and rail crossings of river, sea channels/ harbors, etc. Refer Exhibit 7 for how it works
This method has many advantages:
1.Cost effective
2.Speedy construction
3.Resistant to earthquakes
4.Safety during construction
Some of the disadvantages are:
1.It would have direct contact with water hence it is important to have a careful waterproofing

New Austrian Tunneling Method
New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) or also called Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) has

The main principle of NATM is to monitor the performance of underground construction during
construction. It is also called as design as you go and design as you monitor approach since on the

(The American Experience 2). In 1969, a music festival called Woodstock was put together. It
lasted for over three days and around 500,000 people came to listen to the music. Artists like the
Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin. The majority of the people that attended the
festival were hippies. Hippies wore loose clothing, for the most part advocated drug use, and
promoted peace and love. Woodstock showcased a moment in time where an entire generation
became empowered and realized that they needed to break away from the status quo. Music had a
huge influence on the baby boomer generation and the counterculture of the 1960s as a whole. A

Leadership Vs Coast Guard
My definition of Leadership is similar to the Coast Guard s definition of Leadership, which is to
influence others to achieve the same goal. The Coast Guard s definition of leadership from the
Leadership Development Framework COMDTINST M5351.3 is Leadership is the ability to
influence others to obtain their obedience, respect, confidence, and loyal cooperation. My previous
leadershipinfluences during my career were able to lead myself and my shipmates by influencing
us to accomplish many missions. The BMC Rick Barones and the MKCM Darcy Collins of the
Coast Guard influence their people with compassion and respect. They also lead with confidence
and knowledge of their rates and craft, which made them worth listening to.

Analysis of Stephen King
Stephen King: On Writing
Stephen King is a man of many talents and personalities; not only is he able to scare his readers
immensely, he is also able to make them laugh. I chose a passage from Stephen King s On Writing
for this assignment; the passage stuck in my mind for a long time after I finished the book. His
writing style is unique compared to the other autobiographies I have read over the years.
Everything that a person writes has a meaning or purpose whether it s a letter or an essay and
voice, tone, and style play a very important part in how the reader views the piece of writing. King
manipulates the rules of writing in order to emphasize the meaning of the passage, which is to
describe an early childhood experience, so the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sentence puts stress on what is causing her to be happy; the reader knows automatically that she
finds pleasure in punishment. This paragraph is also the only one that has extremely long sentences
separated by semi colons and many comas.
King also chose certain terms to describe Eula Beulah, which can be described as rhetorical
features. В….she was as big as a

Weaknesses Of Using Secondary Analysis
Some weaknesses of using secondary analysis include outdated data, a lack of collected data, data s
reliability, and biases. Researchers must find relevant data that reflect their specific study.
Depending on the topic, there may be a lack of secondary data about certain topics that researchers
are conducting. When a study is new, the amount of existing studies could be insufficient, which
need more research to be conducted. Another weakness when using secondary analysis is the
reliability of the data itself. Secondary data such as the General Social Survey (GSS) has numerous
quantitative data, but some arbitrary measures and non exhaustive measures in the GSS can make
interpretation difficult. When using data, researchers need to know who... Show more content on

How to Reduce Teenage Pregnancy in America A nightmare can strike, even when the eyes of it s
victims are wide open. It can be unexpected, terrifying, a nightmare to see the dreaded two lines on
the test especially as a teenager. Even if teenagers are old enough to decide whether or not they
want to engage in sexual intercourse, the rate of teenage pregnancy should be reduced as much as
possible. Teenage pregnancy is not only expensive, but also puts the lives of the mother and child
in danger. Teenage pregnancy is not a new concept, having been around since the dawn of humanity.
Most humans, at a certain point, will hit a stage in life called puberty. During this time, ... Show

Not only that, but teens who are in a less favorable economic situation, or are on welfare, are more
likely to become pregnant than girls who are not. (About Teen Pregnancy). Those statistics are not
very promising, especially when babies are being born to girls on welfare or governmental
assistance.
(Teen Birth Rates) When a baby is born, it is a priority that said baby is healthy and happy. It is
also important that the mother takes care of herself and the baby before it arrives, including
taking vitamins, going to checkups, and eating healthy. It s not easy, but teenage pregnancy is
much more risky than adult pregnancy. Pregnant teens and their babies are at a higher risk than
adult mothers and their babies, risks including high blood pressure, preeclampsia, premature birth,
postpartum depression, and low birth weights (Teenage Pregnancy: Medical). However, this is
not always the case. ...not every baby born to a teen mother will have health problems but the
risks are definitely higher. (Beirne, Dr.) Medical risks such as the ones listed can be very
dangerous, to both the mother and the child. Children born to teenage mothers are not only at risk
for medical reasons, but for educational reasons. These children are, more often than not, usually
less ready for school than children born to older mothers, lacking childhood development skills
such as social,

Peace And Violence By Galtung
As I tried to conceptualize the idea of violence and what it means, physical force such as: assault,
bullying, abuse, rape, murder, war, terrorism, genocide amongst many more came to mind.
However, what is considered violence depends on the social context and the type of violence
described, because as we have learned in class so far, Violenceis Relative. So what really is
violence? There is not an easy explanation of the term without taking into consideration that
violence can not only be physical but also psychological, emotional, and verbal. I believe violence
to be a form of expressed aggression either physical, psychological, emotional, and verbal
showcased by an individual. In the paper we will discuss how violence can be viewed as... Show

depending on intentional violence or not necessarily intentional (Galtung, 1969). In my
understanding, if an act of violence such as hurting a person intentionally it could mean that it is
unacceptable. However, if an act of violence were not necessarily intentional depending on the
social context, it would be acceptable. Direct violence, which serves to physically induced threats
such as killing, bullying, sexual assault, and emotional manipulation could serve as unacceptable
violence since its intentional. The Child Beater by Ai, and Death Warrant by district judge Issac
Parker, are good representations as to how they intentionally use physical violence against a victim
to cause harm. In Child Beater , we read about how the abusive mother uses cruel punishments such
as starvation and viciously beats the child to tears (Ai, 1971). This would be a representation of
direct violence since the mother causes physical threats against the child however, it could also be
structural violence since the child is prevented from an equal access to opportunities such as food
and living conditions. In our western society, our viewpoint of the violence inflicted would be
unacceptable since it the mother is conducting child abuse, something that is seen as illegal. From
personal experience, in many hispanic families for example, their form of cultural violence
includes using different forms of punishments to discipline their children such as spankings. While
forms of punishments such as the ones described in Child Beater are unacceptable, spankings are
a form of violence that is acceptable in many homes. In the reading Death Warrant , the author also
uses direct violence and structural as he verbally implies on the warrant sign that when the suspect
is dead no one will miss him, life will go on

The Roaring Twenties Summary
The Roaring Twenties written by Joshua Zeitz exemplifies the 1920s as a time full of grace, but
not without its hardships. The author states that there was an era of liberation for women, and
many contemporary ideas were introduced. New ideals were being popularized and a different
generation was evolving, even with the disapproval of others. Although it was a glitzy and
glamorous time, the economy was being strained and eventually reached a breaking point. Even
though there was a depression in the beginning and the end of the 1920s, this period was met with
beauty, allure, and fascination.
The rise of female emancipation created a modern look for women. Flappers contributed to the
social aspect of the new democracy. Described as northern, urban, young, and single, these women
loved the nightlife. These girls enjoyed jazz clubs or vaudeville shows. A flapper was generally
characterized by short hair, lots of makeup, and short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with these state of the art activities came a huge increase in citizens living in cities. For the
first time in America s history, more people were living in cities than on farms and villages.
Inventions like radio, car, and film in the late nineteenth to early twentieth centuries prospered in
the twenties. People had money to spend, and they spent it. Zeitz writes that ...theaters were selling
5 million tickets a week, a sum equal to roughly half the U.S. population! Like film, radio sales
boomed. The annual sales for radios were $852 million, and twelve million households owned them.
Even teenagers were embracing the freedom of the twenties. According to an interview done by
Robert and Helen Lynd, the top reasons for disagreement between high schoolers and their parents
was the number of times they could go out during the school week, the hour they came home, and
their allotted spending

Essay Effects On NyQuill
Nyquil
The power of Nyquil is sometimes overlooked as just another sinus medication or cold and flue
relief. What is unnoticed is the power this medication prevails. A lot of people take Nyquil for its

of its drowsy feeling it gives you when consumed. This is a drug that is most popular on today s

Explain How Success Consists Of Going Failure To Failures...
Winston Churchill once said that Success consists of going failure to failures without loss of
enthusiasm . Winston s statement can be viewed as controversial because some people believe no
matter how hard ones tries one may fail. This point has merit because no matter how hard one tries
to defy gravity it will constantly be there. Except for these extreme cases successhas been seen
through history as defeating what one had failed to do before. Being able to succeed is caused by
not losing enthusiasm between failures because without an enthusiasm to keep trying one will not
want to succeed, failure can create the idea that allows one to succeed, and without failure people
would not have the passion succeed no matter what. Enthusiasm between failures allows people to
succeed because the character they gain by not quitting is what makes one want to succeed after
failure. It is true that failing something that one has worked at for any period of timeis hard to go
through. The character a person gain from failing however is that spark of persistence and
enthusiasm to continue trying. Even if one fails again that character will become even stronger and
eventually will lead that person... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This point is seen anywhere in the world because of the inventions people have made. No invention
has ever worked perfectly after the first try. It was the enthusiasm in the inventors to see these
objects work perfectly that allowed them to eventually succeed, Some may say that certain
inventions are just modified older inventions, but the need for these new inventions was prompted
by someone having the enthusiasm to fix a failure in a prior invention. These ideas spurred by
realizing the source of a failure may go noticed, but without someone having the enthusiasm to see
the idea work there would never be

Individual Mandate Examples
The price of insurance will climb and climb, causing more and more not so sick people to forego
health insurance. The resulting death spiral will make insurance unaffordable to many more
Americans. (Parmet 401) This is one of the defenses by congress to defend the Individual
Mandate. The Mandate has always been a controversial topic since it s conception. The
Individual Mandate in short is a law and or requirement that a person or people must use a service
or do something to avoid facing punishment. The most recent example of this is in the
controversial PPACA (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act). In this paper I will first cover
in more detail what the Individual Mandate is and cover some of the opinions on it. Then I will then

A little old grandma walks down the street but unknowing to her, she is being followed. On hot
summer day, next to the stop light, the trope happens and her purse is stolen. Under the strict
Utilitarianism, we would have to take into account the happiness of the grandma and the
assailant. This just an example to illustrate that the person s relationship with the giver, or act do
not matter but the strict Utilitarianism does have a way out of this predicament. If instead of
focusing on all the effects of the act, Utilitarianism will seem more plausible. (Rachels and
Rachels 124). Instead of focusing on the event itself and the two parties, we should look at every
side. The little old Grandma could be gravely hurt and needed to go to the emergency room. Her
family would be gravely worried about her, causing unneeded suffering to them. There is also the
financially aspect, if the purse was stolen then could potentially lose thousands in credit card fraud,
in insurance bills, and unneeded added to her cost to living. The community would be harmed
because they would feel unsafe, and because of that insecurity that would cause the community to
be shut in. To be less willing to help other people. Yes, under Utilitarianism we would have to
consider the happiness of both parties under any given situation but under those same rules we have
to consider every consequence of those actions have and not just on the immediate affected and

  • 2. The Importance of the First Scene in the Film Version of... Romeo and juliet written in 1595, is one of the most famous plays of the 16th century, set in Verona. It was cleverly written by William Shakespeare, who is one of the most renowned writers of all time and the play was later produced as movie in 1996 staring Leonardo Dicaprio and Claire Danes. The play is still popular as it contains universal themes of loveand hate that can still be related to today. One of the importances of the first scene of the play is to introduce the audience to the majority of the lead charecters such as Romeo and Juliet, Benvolio and Tybalt, Sampson and Gregory, Lord and Lady Capulet, Lord and Lady Montague and Prince. Along with the different themes and use of language, which varies from crude to poetic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I hate the word and continues to say the word hate throughout the play which suggests he s uncivil which eventually backfires on him later on in the play. Sampson and Gregory are clearly shown to be the better and more civil charecters as they The language used is insulting such as A dog of the house of Montague moves me. which basically means anything from the house Montague even a dog, they have no respect for therefore they wouldn t move out of it s way and would let it walk in the dirt. It s significant that the fight between the Montagues and Capulets starts first among the servants as it shows that both houses have lower status charecters in that share the same hatred for the opposite houses as the higher status charecters do. Shakespeares use of language is clever as you have to look within what the Capulets said to find the true insult. The fight between the two houses grabs the attention of the audience straight away with it s witty use of language and action. It also starts with the question that lingers throughout the rest of the play which is why exactly have they hated eachother for so long and so strongly? All this builds up tension and the crowd are constantly on the edge of their seats waiting for the events to happen that they have been told about, the fight is witnessed by the prince who decides anymore fighting will end in exile if they carry on. In a way the Prince is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Non-Insulated Control Bottle The water bottles insulation was effective, because when comparing the average change in temperature from the beginning to the end for the insulated bottle (which is 2.7 C) and the non insulated control bottle (which is 3.9 C), there is a 1.2 C difference in temperature change. To improve my current design, I could model it more after the design of a thermos, a flask that effectively keeps liquids hot or cold. I could add a layer of silver on the inside to prevent heatfrom coming in and escaping the bottle by radiation, or a thin layer of glass on the outside to prevent heat from entering or leaving the bottle by conduction. A more simple improvement could simply be to add more tinfoil, to prevent less heat from escaping and create more of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Explain The Extent Between The Federalists And The 1790s order to stop sole control of power, the Constitution deliberately dispersed said power between the member states and the national government. This had the effect of a fragmented government structure where co ordination was in short supply and control lay in a plethora of discordant hands. The realisation that this could only be overcome via the coming together of similar minded folk who could, in turn, appropriate the presidency and control congress dawned, and the 1790 s heralded two American national parties, The Federalists and the Republicans. However, this does not mean that there was a complete absence of political activity prior to the 1790 s. The exact opposite is in fact true. There was already large social, racial and economic disjuncture... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Questions of national interest consumed both parties focus and naturally, drew their attention beyond state lines. Support had to be drawn from all over the country, the Federalists, from the banking, commercial and financial interests and the Republicans, from small farmers, debtors, southern planters and frontier settlers .They could not afford to be exclusive parties. The dangers of a narrowly based coalition were acute and as such, both parties needed to increase their support. Otherwise, neither party would have the slightest chance of gaining a majority vote and in turn winning the presidency. This, according to many scholars, can be held accountable for the extremely broad scope of the two modern American parties that are almost indiscernible from one another. Parties must be adept to the changing patterns of American life. Indeed, the failures of the Federalist and Whig parties in pervious years can be attributed to their stubborn resistance to widening their coalition. Both of the modern parties have taken valuable lessons from these failures, although lapses in attention have seen them suffer electorally in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Narrative Voice In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold the concept of a community setting strongly based upon traditional roots, and is capable to do so through a variety of characters all with a displaced memory of a tragic event in the history of the small town. Each of these characters displayed by Marquez is on a thin line of uprooting his or her destined religious system of faith. In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Marquez highlights the narrator s voice containing a tone of cultural influence and societal imbalance because of the novels non chronological unraveling of events, it becomes necessary for an objective outsider to notice the downfall of society by two conflicting problems. The primary form of narrator s characterization, the reader possesses the capability to analyze the related roles of characters within the novel as centered around the obligations of both faith and family. Furthermore, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, through the deployment of magical realism, allows these characters to become less superficial by nature of communicating a realistic perception of events in the midst of a mundane society. • 6. Ecclesiastes Death Equalizer Death being the great equalizer has been a popular phrase for a very long time. In Ecclesiastes, It is explained what death being the great equalizer means. Ecclesiastes 9 1 2 (NLT) reads This, too, I carefully explored: Even though the actions of godly and wise people are in God s hands, no one knows whether God will show them favor. The same destiny ultimately awaits everyone, whether righteous or wicked, good or bad, ceremonially clean or unclean, religious or irreligious. Good people receive the same treatment as sinners, and people who make promises to God are treated like people who don t. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this! 8 Wear fine clothes, with a splash of cologne!? Although many times in Ecclesiastes it says what we do in life is meaningless, it still encourages people to be wise and the characteristics of the wise person and the fool are still the same as they are in Proverbs and other wisdom literature in the Bible. What s different about Ecclesiastes is it tells you not to be over wise and destroy yourself and it also says the same thing about wickedness. • 7. Analysis Of Bullet In The Brain By Tobias Wolff The short story Bullet in the Brain by Tobias Wolff brings the reader to the attention of how one s life can be influenced by something as timid as a word (Von Ancken). In this story, a protagonist is a man by the name of Anders, who is a book critic. The story starts with Anders arriving at the bank just before it closes. The line is really long and he is stuck in line with two loud ladies who drive him crazy with their stupid conversation. He is characterized as, weary, elegant savagery with which he dispatched almost everything he reviewed (Wolff). He is also portrayed as a man who is miserable and constantly criticizing his surroundings. Even as he waits in the line at the bank, his sarcastic comments do not stop to represent his perspective of his disappointment of the world. When one of the tellers closed her window, Anders conveys a hatred towards the teller s action by stating, Damned unfair, he said. Tragic, really. If they re not chopping off the wrong leg, or bombing your ancestral village, they re closing their positions (Wolff). When reading the story, it was difficult to determine whether Anders had sympathy towards anything in life as he argues and makes sarcastic remarks to the ladies. However, when the short storywas viewed as a film, it was learned that Anders was a character that had sympathy towards life. Unlike the written story, the film starts with Anders in a classroom lecturing his students. The difference in the beginning of the story has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Dancer In The Dark And The Piano Analysis Compare the ways in which Lars von Trier, in Dancer in the Dark, and Jane Campion in The Piano, explore the idea that hope can be found even in the midst of the most adverse circumstances. In the film, Dancer in the Dark, and the movie, The Piano, Lars von Trier and Jane Campion respectively utilise various literary and circumstances. The historical contextual settings of both texts encapsulate worlds of destruction in which the central female protagonists, Ada Mcgrath and Selma Jezkova, withstand the understanding between the native Maori people towards the scripted and sterile play which served as a form of happiness and communal gathering for Victorian Europeans suggests that different forms of expression such as drama and music often lacks understanding when compared to reality. Contrastingly, in the musical interludes, von Trier explores the idea that creativity brings a sense of connection and unity through the use of artificial lighting, saturated colour palette, non diegetic sound track and head shots and long shots exposing a community singing, dancing and embracing. The vibrancy and liveliness in these musical scenes directly contrasts with the raw reduction in the reality scenes and ultimately suggests that musicals create a hopeful and reconciliatory world where, contrasting Campion s, there is always someone to catch you when you fall. While creativity provides an escape from harsh reality, both Campion and von Trier explore the idea that this is only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The company s stock is trading on the London Stock Exchange. The report is going to provide some information about working capital management (WCM). It is commonly known that working capital investment has become a large proportion in a firm s balance sheet. According to Bank of Belgium, the proportion of accounts receivable, payment and inventory were respectively 17%, 13% and 10% of total assets of all Belgian nonfinancial firms in 1997 (Deloof, 2003). On the other hand, firms may lose the early payment discount offered by its suppliers, which may result in more finance costs (Wong, 2002). Trade receivable: Trade receivable may boost sales because it allows customers to access product s quality before paying. The flip side of trade receivable is that capital would be locked in working capital, as a result the company s financial department may face cash flow and liquidity problems (Jose, Lancaster and Stevens, 1996; Lazaridis and Tryfonidis, 2006). Inventory: A larger inventory reduces the risk of stock out and it is also a vehicle to increase sales. The negative side of inventory is the same as trade receivable (Nazir and Afza, 2009; Deloof, 2003). Lazaridis and Tryfonidis (2006) states that an optimum level of inventory will have a direct effect on profitability since it will release cash invested in working capital and could also respond to a high demand. The measurement of WC Cash conversion cycle (CCC) is a widely used WC measurement, which is the time lag between the raw material purchase and the collection of finished goods. The CCC can be calculated as: The cash conversion cycle = Number of days accounts receivable + Number of days inventory Number of days accounts payable payments. In real business operations, CCC as whole and each parts of CCC could be used to measure the efficiency of WCM (Deloof, 2003; GarcГa Teruel and MartГnez Solano, 2007; Lazaridis and Tryfonidis, 2006; Gill, ... The students are familiar with the words, but are unfamiliar with how it pertains to art. New definitions and techniques are introduced in this lesson. Students will continue to use these new vocabulary terms in future lessons. In this project students are required to make a total positive space image. To complete this, students are to use line and shape in their design. The previous projects and lessons in this course focused on the use of line and shape, so this project reinforces those terms and techniques so students will use them in future projects. The last aspect of this assignment is for students to see how the use of space makes interesting designs. • 14. Daniel Chapter 3 Hebrew Men Analysis In this essay I will be writing about The Three Hebrew Men. This story comes from the book of Daniel chapter 3. It is about three men whose names were: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The bible makes us to understand that the king of the Babylon empire at that time was king Nebuchadnezzar. The story starts off when Nebuchadnezzar built a statute of Gold. Then he invited important people from all over the land to come and see the statute that he built. Daniel chapter 3 verse 4 5 says: Then a herald cried aloud: To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages, that at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music, you shall fall down and worship the gold image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. king Nebuchadnezzar had asked all the people who came to see the statue to fall down and worship the statue. • 16. Ordinary Men by Christopher Browning The purpose of history is to understand the past so that we can take wisdom from those experiences and improve the present and the future. The events that occurred during the Final Solution are so horrendous that often it is viewed as so repugnant that we label the people involved as purely evil, they are dehumanized. This is dangerous, as it doesn t allow us to obtain wisdom, perspective, and empathy for those involved. Ordinary Men allows an opportunity to see these events from the eyes of the perpetrators and their journey that led to what seems to people today as ruthless, unscrupulous murder. When in fact these people were literally ordinary men who were introduced to unordinary circumstances which caused them to abandon their humanity. If we discredit these people as inhuman we fail to learn the lessons of human nature so we can avoid them in the future. Winston Churchill embodies the lessons learned from Ordinary Men as he said Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The massacrein Jozefow was first to introduce the men of Battalion 101 to mass murder. The orders were that males of working age were to be sent Lublin to serve as work Jews, while the women, children and the elderly were to be exterminated by gunshot immediately. These circles start as light and build in depth (Mirsky, 2011). • 19. Analysis Of Disney Cartoons From Disney I watched all of THE BOOZE HANGS HIGH, RED HOT RIDING HOOD, MONKEY DOODLE, FAST AND FURRY OUS, and AN OPTICAL POEM. These animations were very different from the likes of Disney. I noticed that almost all of these animations were meant for adults definitely not children. I also realized that the animation styles were different from Disney. Pigs drinking booze, Red Riding Hood as a burlesque singer, lustful monkeys looking at naked female monkeys with proper human anatomy, Road Runner being blown to smithereens by Coyote. Just think about all the scenes I just described. Would you want your children being exposed to these things? I believe most commendable parents even nowadays would say HELL NO!! I was baffled and surprised at how cartoons of this time were not meant for kids. This seemed so backward to me, growing up watching LOONEY TOONS as a kids show. I think that cartoons started this way due to the people who were going out to the movies and watching these cartoons were adults. Adults don t want to watch cartoons that appeal to children when they are on a date or trying to get time away from their kids. In contrast, from Disney, the competition saw an untouched market. Disney quickly began to focus their cartoons toward children. The competition, on the other hand, marketed to a more mature audience. Making studios like Warner Brothers have a lucrative stake in the animation business. The hilarity of it is that these days THE LOONEY TOONS cartoons are kid friendly they won t even show the episode where Elmer Fud kills Bugs Bunny. The fact that the competitor s studios decided to aim for a more mature audience shows me two things. The first is the studios did not believe they could compete head to head with Disney. Lastly, it shows that the studios were not scared to create cartoons that were lewd. In essence, the competing studios handled their published animations in a business minded way. They decided not to compete head on with Disney but to offset themselves from Disney s audience and reach the audience that made and held the money. In PLANE CRAZY no background is the same. The Deregulation Of Domestic Financial Sector Today, it is considered to be a common knowledge, that the deregulation of domestic financial sector and opening of capital account of the balance of payments played a major role in the recent economic crisis of 2007 08. Policies, that have been stated above can be put together and named as the liberalization of the capital account. Liberalization stands for lessening of government regulations and restrictions in the economy. It offers a certain sector of the economy an opportunity to compete internationally. • 42. Counterculture Movement Essay John Lennon of the famous rock band, The Beatles, once said, If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there d be peace . This quote essentially defines the 1960s and the counterculture movement in America. After WWII people had much more free time than they did during the war, and many people decided that they wanted to settle down and start a family. This caused a large boom in child birth. The children born during this boom are known as baby boomers . Due to the baby boom between 1945 and 1955, over half the population was under 30 years old (The American Experience 1). During this time in American history, the children of the baby boomer generation started rebelling against the war in Vietnam and the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let It Be, Strawberry Fields Forever, Revolution, and many other songs by the British rock band, The Beatles, helped shape the counterculture movement. Many songs by The Beatles supported the ideas of rebellion, freedom and drug use. The Beatles were the most popular musical group in the 1960s, and they were loved and idolized by many. They are still considered to be one of the greatest, if not the, greatest musical group ever. Although the Beatles were the most popular and influential rock group of the time, eclectic groups and singers of all different genres helped shape the music scene in the 1960s, such as: Bob Dylan, the Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and the Who. Music by all of these artists reflected the new sexual permissiveness and drug trends (The American Experience 2). In 1969, a music festival called Woodstock was put together. It lasted for over three days and around 500,000 people came to listen to the music. Artists like the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin. The majority of the people that attended the festival were hippies. Hippies wore loose clothing, for the most part advocated drug use, and promoted peace and love. Woodstock showcased a moment in time where an entire generation became empowered and realized that they needed to break away from the status quo. Music had a huge influence on the baby boomer generation and the counterculture of the 1960s as a whole. A large part of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis of Stephen King Stephen King: On Writing Stephen King is a man of many talents and personalities; not only is he able to scare his readers immensely, he is also able to make them laugh. I chose a passage from Stephen King s On Writing for this assignment; the passage stuck in my mind for a long time after I finished the book. His writing style is unique compared to the other autobiographies I have read over the years. Everything that a person writes has a meaning or purpose whether it s a letter or an essay and voice, tone, and style play a very important part in how the reader views the piece of writing. King manipulates the rules of writing in order to emphasize the meaning of the passage, which is to describe an early childhood experience, so the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 45. Weaknesses Of Using Secondary Analysis Some weaknesses of using secondary analysis include outdated data, a lack of collected data, data s reliability, and biases. Researchers must find relevant data that reflect their specific study. Depending on the topic, there may be a lack of secondary data about certain topics that researchers are conducting. When a study is new, the amount of existing studies could be insufficient, which need more research to be conducted. Another weakness when using secondary analysis is the reliability of the data itself. Secondary data such as the General Social Survey (GSS) has numerous quantitative data, but some arbitrary measures and non exhaustive measures in the GSS can make interpretation difficult. It can be unexpected, terrifying, a nightmare to see the dreaded two lines on the test especially as a teenager. • 47. Peace And Violence By Galtung As I tried to conceptualize the idea of violence and what it means, physical force such as: assault, bullying, abuse, rape, murder, war, terrorism, genocide amongst many more came to mind. However, what is considered violence depends on the social context and the type of violence described, because as we have learned in class so far, Violenceis Relative. So what really is violence? There is not an easy explanation of the term without taking into consideration that violence can not only be physical but also psychological, emotional, and verbal. I believe violence to be a form of expressed aggression either physical, psychological, emotional, and verbal showcased by an individual. In the paper we will discuss how violence can be viewed as... In my understanding, if an act of violence such as hurting a person intentionally it could mean that it is unacceptable. However, if an act of violence were not necessarily intentional depending on the social context, it would be acceptable. Direct violence, which serves to physically induced threats such as killing, bullying, sexual assault, and emotional manipulation could serve as unacceptable violence since its intentional. The Child Beater by Ai, and Death Warrant by district judge Issac Parker, are good representations as to how they intentionally use physical violence against a victim to cause harm. In Child Beater , we read about how the abusive mother uses cruel punishments such as starvation and viciously beats the child to tears (Ai, 1971). This would be a representation of direct violence since the mother causes physical threats against the child however, it could also be structural violence since the child is prevented from an equal access to opportunities such as food and living conditions. In our western society, our viewpoint of the violence inflicted would be unacceptable since it the mother is conducting child abuse, something that is seen as illegal. From personal experience, in many hispanic families for example, their form of cultural violence includes using different forms of punishments to discipline their children such as spankings. While forms of punishments such as the ones described in Child Beater are unacceptable, spankings are a form of violence that is acceptable in many homes. In the reading Death Warrant , the author also uses direct violence and structural as he verbally implies on the warrant sign that when the suspect is dead no one will miss him, life will go on ... • 48. The Roaring Twenties Summary The Roaring Twenties written by Joshua Zeitz exemplifies the 1920s as a time full of grace, but not without its hardships. The author states that there was an era of liberation for women, and many contemporary ideas were introduced. New ideals were being popularized and a different generation was evolving, even with the disapproval of others. Although it was a glitzy and glamorous time, the economy was being strained and eventually reached a breaking point. Even though there was a depression in the beginning and the end of the 1920s, this period was met with beauty, allure, and fascination. The rise of female emancipation created a modern look for women. Flappers contributed to the social aspect of the new democracy. Described as northern, urban, young, and single, these women loved the nightlife. These girls enjoyed jazz clubs or vaudeville shows. • 50. Explain How Success Consists Of Going Failure To Failures... Winston Churchill once said that Success consists of going failure to failures without loss of enthusiasm . Winston s statement can be viewed as controversial because some people believe no matter how hard ones tries one may fail. This point has merit because no matter how hard one tries to defy gravity it will constantly be there. Except for these extreme cases successhas been seen through history as defeating what one had failed to do before. Being able to succeed is caused by not losing enthusiasm between failures because without an enthusiasm to keep trying one will not want to succeed, failure can create the idea that allows one to succeed, and without failure people would not have the passion succeed no matter what. Enthusiasm between failures allows people to succeed because the character they gain by not quitting is what makes one want to succeed after failure. It is true that failing something that one has worked at for any period of timeis hard to go through. The character a person gain from failing however is that spark of persistence and enthusiasm to continue trying. A little old grandma walks down the street but unknowing to her, she is being followed. On hot summer day, next to the stop light, the trope happens and her purse is stolen. Under the strict Utilitarianism, we would have to take into account the happiness of the grandma and the assailant. This just an example to illustrate that the person s relationship with the giver, or act do not matter but the strict Utilitarianism does have a way out of this predicament. If instead of focusing on all the effects of the act, Utilitarianism will seem more plausible. (Rachels and Rachels 124). Instead of focusing on the event itself and the two parties, we should look at every side. The little old Grandma could be gravely hurt and needed to go to the emergency room. Her family would be gravely worried about her, causing unneeded suffering to them. There is also the financially aspect, if the purse was stolen then could potentially lose thousands in credit card fraud, in insurance bills, and unneeded added to her cost to living. The community would be harmed because they would feel unsafe, and because of that insecurity that would cause the community to be shut in. To be less willing to help other people. Yes, under Utilitarianism we would have to consider the happiness of both parties under any given situation but under those same rules we have to consider every consequence of those actions have and not just on the immediate affected and ...
