This document provides an outline for a beginner flag football class that aims to teach students basic passing, catching, blocking, and game skills over 85 minutes. The class will include warm-up drills like a football passing relay, practicing plays in groups without defense, scrimmaging between groups, reviewing rules, and concluding with a full game(s) using a modified field size depending on participant numbers. Safety is emphasized through forbidding tackles and ensuring clear space during drills and games. Students will be assessed through observation of skills completion, effort, and participation.

Minute 0 to 5 Locker rooms dressing out
Minute: 5 to 10-15 Warm-up activities/ have students get flags on
Football pass relay, have the students divide up into even lines. Ball starts on one side of the line
and students pass/ toss the ball to the person next to them. This continues till it reaches the end
of the line. Once it reaches the end of the line that students runs down the line to where the
original student had the ball. When this happens each student rotates in the direction the ball is
passed one spot. When the runner reaches the beginning they begin the passing sequence again.
This continues until all students in the line have had the ball to run. First team done wins.
Minute: 10-15 to 15-20
Have the students get into their teams already determined. Spread back out and work on plays
again without a defense they must huddle up before every play.
Minute 15-20 to 45-50
Have groups pair up and run their plays vs. another group playing defense. Both groups should
run all their plays at least once against the defense. The ball is set at the same point so yardage
or scores are not being counted this is just practice. After 10 minutes I can have groups rotate to
play against different groups.
Minute 45-50 to 48-53
Refresh/ have students recite some rules (offside’s, holding, pass interference, false start, how we
are starting the games, or restarting play after a score)
3. Minute 48-53 to minute 75
Play a full game(s) of football. If short on people make the field smaller and use cones to show
where the end zone is. If an abundant of players, use both sides of the field to have 3 games at
once using cones again to symbolize the end zone.
Minute 75 to 85
Send students to locker room to prepare for next class
