Standards California 8th Grade PE Standards 1.3 Demonstrate basic offensive and defensive skills and strategies in team physical activities.  1.4 Apply locomotor, nonlocomotor, and manipulative skills to team physical activities.  1.5 Demonstrate fundamental gymnastic/tumbling skills.  1.6 Create and perform a routine using fundamental gymnastic/tumbling skills, locomotor and nonlocomotor movement patterns, and the elements of speed, direction, and level.
Materials The students will need the following materials for this unit plan: Footballs Flag Football Belts Cones Handouts with Football Terminology  Proper clothing (shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, sport shorts, regular shoes) Web Access
Day One Assessment day! Have students break into teams and assess the skills of the students while they play uninstructed Vary future skill drills and pre-test on ability level of the class.
Day Two Pre Test Day! Students will take paper flag football test with multiple choice questions. Students and teacher will discuss rules and terminology of flag football and partner grade the tests.
Day 3 Station Skill Day Students will break into 5 teams and begin rotating throughout different passing, receiving and defensive drills. Teacher will assess each students skill level and correct errors.
Day 4-7 GAME DAY!  Students Break into assigned teams and begin tournament. Winners get a trophy! -
Day 8  Final Test Students take final test in paper format and are graded 1-5 on knowledge level.
FLAG FOOTBALL CONCLUSION Students should have learned basic flag football skills. They should have a knowledge of football terminology. The next unit will be soccer!
