Adjectives are words that describe nouns
Example She is pretty.
3. Word Order, adjectives come before
nouns
Nouns names of people, places, things or ideas e.g.
teacher, doctor Layla, shirt.
Adjective Words that describe nouns and come before the
noun.
Look at these two sentences and how to combine them in ONE
sentence:
I have a book. It is heavy.
I have a heavy book.
It is important to put the adjective before the noun not after it.
I have a red car. “NOT” I have a car red

Ahmed owns a car. The car is red.
Ahmed owns a red car
I do not like this weather. The weather is humid.
I do not like this humid weather.
Paris is a city in France. This city is beautiful.
Paris is a beautiful city in France.
Ali has a job. The job is part-time.
Ali has a part time job.

6. What is a Paragraph?
A paragraph is a group of sentences.
Remember that sentences must have verb + subject.
Any sentence that doesn't’t have a verb or a noun is
FEAGMENT
A paragraph has three main parts:
The Topic sentence. Tells the main idea + usually is the
first sentence
The body. More than one sentence. Every sentence has
Information that supports the topic.
The Concluding sentence. The end of the paragraph. It
is a brief summary of the information
7. When We Write a Paragraph We
Should
1- Write a title (Capitalization rules)
2- Indent the first line of the paragraph
3- Write a topic sentence
4- Write a body (details)
5- Write a conclusion

Every good paragraph has a topic sentence ( gives the general topic of
the whole paragraph).

9. Grammar – Subject Pronouns
A pronoun is a word that takes a place of a noun.
Subject pronoun comes before the verb (just like the subject).

10. Remember
When you talk about a person, use his or her name first. After than
remember to replace the name by a subject pronoun
Example:
Norah loves her mother a lot. She always gives her gifts and presents.
Prober noun Pronoun
Do not use the prober noun in your paragraph many times.
Sara is a great student. Sara loves her school. Sara always
studies at home.
11. Working with the Body of the
Paragraph
We said that after writing a topic sentence we should
have details that support the topic sentence, that
talk about the topic sentence. These sentences are
called the body of the paragraph
Every sentence should support (and talk) about the
topic sentence.
You can give details or examples that are related to
the topic sentence.
12. Grammar – Possessive Adjective
Possessive adjective When you talk about something that belongs to
someone or something. There are are only 7 possessive adjectives.
Whose pen is this ?
It is my pen
It is your pen
It is his pen
It is her pen
It is our pen
It is their pen
The cat was moving its tail quickly
13. Remember
Every sentence should have (Subject + Verb)
Incorrect : My father’s name Abdullah
Correct : My father’s name is Abdullah
-------- : Many people in Lebanon Arabic
---------: Many people in Lebanon speak Arabic
--------- : Some students have computers at home.
--------- : Alanoud has a beautiful room.
15. Concluding sentence
It usually comes at the end of a paragraph.
Gives a summary of the information in the paragraph.
Can be similar to the topic sentence.
Can be a suggestion, opinion or prediction
Example:

to visit Alaska
