“Unified Computing System”
PC WITHOUT CPU
Presented by
Anal Prasanna Salshingikar
Introduction:-
 The Unified Computing System is a next-generation
database platform that Unites compute, network,
storage access, and virtualization into a cohesive
system
 The system integrates a low-latency, lossless 10
Gigabit Ethernet unified network fabric with
Enterprise-class, x86-architecture servers.
 The system is an integrated, scalable, multichassis
platform in which all resources participate in a
unified management domain
Objectives
 The main objective of this project is to
make a “CPU Less World “.
 It is designed to reduce total cost of
ownership (TCO) and increases the
organizational and user convenience
 No CPU is required only the main host(data
base) will have high-end hardware
configuration
 This may contain many terminals as per
organizational requirements which will be
distributed in many groups and sectors.

 HARDWARE:- A X86 Architecture Xenon
Processers, 10TB HDD, 128GB DDR4 RAM,
optical fiber card, Switches, Routers, Optical
to RJ-45 Converter, CAT 5e Cables and
general hardware components.
 Software- Windows 7,V-Box,GNS3
 The data base will have all the real high-end
hardware as well as software as mention
above, which will be shared virtually with
help of VMware

Proposed plan of work
 “UCS in College system”
 The college is divided into 4 main
groups/sectors
1. Accounts department.
2. Teachers department.
3. Students department.
4. Laboratory department.
continued….

b) 128 Mb RAM
c) 250 Gb HDD
d) 128 Mb Graphics
 Some Services will not be present for Accounts
Department.
continued….
 (TEACHERS DEPARTMENT)
The computers (terminals) in Teachers department will
consist:-
1. The general software
2. Original operating system (Windows 7)
3. No limit Internet Connectivity
4. Access to terminals of students department
 Hardware Configuration for Teachers department.

 (LABORATORY DEPARTMENT)
The computers (terminals) in laboratory department will
consist:-
1. The general software
2. Original operating system (Windows 7)
3. Engineering Software's
4. Printer and Internet Support
 Hardware Configuration for Laboratories dept.
a) 32 bit OS
b) 2 Gb RAM
c) 320 Gb HDD
d) 1 Gb Graphics
Output
Behind Output (WORKING)
 The UCS involves sharing of hardware resources such
as RAM, Hard disk and many software’s through
virtualization with network Bridging and tunneling
with help of CISCO-IOS (Internetwork Operating
System).
 Every user will have a separate terminal, separate
operating system as well as storage but the terminal
will be virtual and all the real resources will shared
from the main data center or HOST. The entire
terminal will work likes a real system with all virtual
resources but a real LAN card which will remotely
access all the configurations from the host through
N- Computing device
IMPORTANT POINTS:-
 All the groups can be alloted a separate
V-LAN for better security
 DHCP- All the terminals will be
autoatically assigned with an ip address
just as plug n play
 CISCO IOS- All the configurations and
networking is done through the CISCO
internetwork operating system
 NAT- Network address translation is that
it allows a single internet connection
with a single IP address to be shared
IMPORTANT POINTS:-
 Bridging- It is an action taken by
network equiptment to create an
aggregate network from either two or
more network segments
 Virtual PC- The end terminals or devices
which will not be really existing but
working
Advantages
 It reduces the hardware and cost
 Highly secure
 No risk of hardware failure(RAM , HDD)
 Easy to identify the problems
 Troubleshooting
 Centralized Management

 College Level system
 Institutes
 Organisations
 Company
 Call Center
 Data Centers
