Unguided media, also known as wireless media, uses electromagnetic waves for communication without physical connectors between devices. It works by transmitting signals from an antenna that radiates electromagnetic energy into the surrounding medium, which can then be received by another antenna picking up those waves traveling through the air or sky. For mobile communication specifically, a signal is guided to a base station antenna that broadcasts it unguided through the air to be received by a mobile phone antenna.
