She has written research papers on the differences between public and private schools and the effects of divorce on children. She has also volunteered her time mentoring students at a regional hospital and assisting the women's basketball coaching staff.

Both groups saw state standards and environmental literacy as important but had mixed views on other standards. The assessment aims to determine best practices and target areas for improved youth water education.
