Editor's Notes
What do you need to be well at UK? These could be skills, resources, or personal characteristics. Share 5 things you need with a person near you.
Large group: what did you come up with?
study skills, time management, confidence, resiliency, finances, food, shelter, etc
Students who leave the university often leave for personal reasons, such as financial problems, illness or accident, lack of connections, and other reasons.
Wellness Vision: Fostering holistic wellness by developing informed, empowered, and academically successful UK students.
We have an exciting opportunity that is only for incoming students. UK was selected to conduct a CDC-funded research study to determine what is best for offering violence prevention and substance abuse training on-campus. Your participation is completely voluntary but if you want to help improve safety and wellness at UK, here’s what you need to do:
Check out our website for more information and to stay up to date with training options you can participate in this summer and before classes begin. Our website is www.uky.edu/connected
We will send you a survey in June in which you can sign up for your training.
After you complete the survey, you will be sent the training location. The training will last around 3 hours, food will be provided, and you will receive a $40 American Express gift card at the end as a thanks for your time.
Remember: Completed training will count for BOTH your AlcoholEdu and Haven training. These trainings are mandatory for all incoming students.
After completing the training, you will be invited to complete 2 more short surveys and 4 quick smartphone surveys throughout your first year.
Support Groups: Trans* and Gender Non-Conforming, Students on the Autism Spectrum, Students of Color
Additional opportunities to belong: K Week activities, FUSION, Campus Ruckus, LLPs, Honors Program, UK 101, stay on campus first 6 weeks
Prior to next slide: What are some of the academic or personal challenges you may face as a college student?
Suggest that they take a pic of this slide to remember our contact info!
