Conformity Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of conformity poses a unique set of challenges. Firstly, it
necessitates a deep understanding of human behavior, societal norms, and the psychological
mechanisms underlying conformity. Researching and synthesizing relevant academic literature
from various disciplines, such as psychology, sociology, and anthropology, is crucial for providing
a comprehensive analysis.
Moreover, formulating original insights on such a widely studied topic can be demanding.
Conformity permeates various aspects of human life, from cultural practices to group dynamics,
making it essential to approach the subject from diverse perspectives to offer fresh perspectives.
This requires critical thinking skills and the ability to connect theoretical frameworks with real-
world examples effectively.
Additionally, navigating the ethical implications of conformity is essential. Discussing the
balance between societal cohesion and individual autonomy requires careful consideration to
avoid oversimplification or overlooking nuanced arguments. Addressing the potential
consequences of conformity, such as its impact on creativity, diversity, and social change, adds
another layer of complexity to the essay.
Furthermore, articulating complex ideas in a clear and coherent manner is essential to engage
readers effectively. Balancing academic rigor with accessibility is crucial for ensuring that the
essay resonates with a broad audience while maintaining scholarly credibility.
In summary, writing an essay on conformity demands a multifaceted approach that encompasses
interdisciplinary research, critical analysis, ethical considerations, and effective communication. It
is a challenging task that requires careful planning, thoughtful reflection, and dedication to
producing a compelling piece of writing.

How Temperature Affects Speed of Falling Asleep
How does temperature affect the speed of falling asleep? Insomnia related sleep
problems impact 30% of American adults( Doheny). Many people with insomnia
problems typically try traditional solutions for their sleep like a glass of warm
milk, avoiding caffeine and a schedule but what about a room temperature? When
you go to sleep your body s wanted core temperature is decreased( Doheny). This
drop in core temperature is what induces sleep(Bucklan). Though debated to be in
ranges of 65В°F 75В°F and 60В°F 68В°F however, many doctors recommend the
median of about 65В°F room temperature when sleeping. When at this temperature
people are more likely to achieve REM sleep phase or rapid eye movement sleep
phase which rejuvenates the body and is when... Show more content on

Getting this better sleep could in general improve how people feel(Gordon). This
solution of course has quite a few drawbacks Dealing with Moral , Economical,
Social, and Environmental issues. First off is it really Moral to force a large
community of people to set their thermostats to a specific temperature? How is it
in any way moral to force someone to sleep in the cold? Its not in any way. Then
think about it its not moral to force someone to pay for the electricity bill they had
no power over stopping which brings up the Economical issue. The American
dollar is equivalent to .61 British pounds and its getting worse(Morley). This is
caused by inflation and its making Americans well poor. If a person can t spend
money on things they want, the economy can t grow and its just going to make it
worse. Then comes the Social issue. Not everyone falls asleep at the same time and
everybody has a different sleep temperature( Doheny). This means that IF the time
is forced to be 8 o clock and you go to sleep at 7 you are still having trouble. Also if
your temperature is out of the range you can t sleep. Lastly is the Environmental
issue. Many people prefer to turn off the heater at night to save energy. The fact they
save this energy means that less is needed. However, if everyone in America is
forced to leave it on throughout the night more energy is needed. This sudden need
would require a larger use of natural resources which could harm the
Hunger Of Memory Richard Rodriguez Chapter Summaries
Hunger of Memory
The Education of Richard Rodriguez
Chapter One Aria:
For my part, I felt that I had somehow committed a sin of betrayal by learning
English. Rodriguez s parents emphasize a large separation of their Mexican heritage
from that of los gringos. The family speaks Spanish to each other, and the transition
to speaking English symbolizes that person being spoken to is an outsider, not one to
be trusted, an Americano. The language of Spanish, therefore, is a symbol of trust,
acceptance, as being part of the family. When Ricardo gives up Spanish for English,
although he is urged to do so by his parents, he feels he is betraying his family for los
gringos.
Chapter Two The Achievement of Desire:
Here is a child who cannot forget that his academic success distances him from a life
he loved, even from his own memory of himself.
This quotation goes hand in hand with the one from Chapter one. Rodriguez is
ashamed to be advancing academically because it separates him further and further
from his family. He has already traded Spanish for English, and is now struggling
with losing some of his family s other cultures. He loses topics to talk about with his
family, as he now has little in common with them. Things compelling to him now...

Rodriguez postulates that, had he not been a guest of the hotel but a member of the

Stan Lee Impact On Society
Stan Lee, a 95 year old actor, writer, publisher, T.V. host, and media producer that
has created one of the most successful franchises worldwide, Marvel. With the
hundreds of characters, that he either has created or helped to create, he has been
able to shape the minds of many. He is able to influence from what costumes kids
wear on halloween to what to what they watch. Though this might seem
overwhelming or distracting to some it can be helpful to those in need of an escape,
plus they can be pretty fun to read. Stan Lee, a well aged man whom hasn t changed
for anyone but has somehow changed the very world before our eyes, still works

While Stan Lee s legacy is still evolving it has already made a big impact on both

shows and movies, and they are more geared toward children while also keeping a

parents introduce their kids to what is right and what is wrong more easily. Though
the changes he has caused haven t just affected children and their parents, when his
characters started to become more and more popular other companies began joining
them in the newest trend.
As other companies started to become less popular and the writing industry become
more exclusive, Marvel s popularity soared and the company grew rapidly. When
their competitors realised what was happening they started making deals with them.
Though many other businesses still thought that it was just a fad, as a result many of

Though Stan Lee s impact has affected Marvel s competitors greatly, he has also
affected the need for children s toys and collectables. An example of this change

Importance Of Punctuality In The Army
Life of a soldier is run by strict set of rules that every soldier is compelled to follow
right from the beginning of their army training. Some of the most important
maxims of army life include, being punctual, always prepared and of course, being
able to manage your time in an effective manner. These maxims are strictly
followed in the army and if a soldier fails to meet anyone of these maxims then he
or she can be punished according to the American military s Uniform Code of
Military Justice (UCMJ). However, these qualities are respected in a man
regardless of their profession in life. Being punctual in your job, prepared for your
meeting and managing your time can improve your relations with others and pave
way for your success. Punctuality in the Army A soldier is always expected to be
on time, being late can be problematic not only for him but also for his brothers in
arms. The reason army lays such great importance to punctuality is because when
the soldier has to enter the real life battlefield then there is no relaxation for
laziness. Even a minute late to a specific rally point can be the difference between
life and death. Consider a situation where a soldier has to provide supporting fire to
cover for his friend, if the soldier does to not strictly obey time then there is a good
chance that his friend would be in life threatening trouble. The army has a set of rules
in place to ensure that the quality of punctuality is integrated into the personalities of

Organizational Structure Of An Organization
1.Introduction
An organization is defined as a group of people who work together in an organized
way for shared purpose. When people come together, they can either compliment one
another or potentially create conflicts and disagreements in the course of pursuing
common objectives with their differentiated experiences, perceptions and knowledge.
Managing an organization involves putting a structure to the business so that
managers can manage, supervise and coordinate its people and organization s
performance. A structure serves as a framework for the purpose of outlining clear
operating guidelines in order to keep the organization functional. It defines the
hierarchical lines of authority, establishing job roles and responsibilities, details
communication channels to determine how information should flow within the
organization. A well fitted organizational structurewill have positive impacts on both
its employees and its performance.
2.Organizational Structures
Organizational structures exist in two basic forms, the organic and the mechanistic,
each contrastive of another (Burns Stalker, 1961). Measured by four main elements
of an organization s characteristics; standardization, formalization, role specifications,
and centralization of its operating unit, the time taken and frequency of future
activities and change implementations are also taken into consideration.
Seen in Appendix 1, the diagram depicts the four elements an organization can
structure itself.

A2 Media Coursework Production Evaluation
The focus of my investigation was to analyse the representation of women in horror
films. The films I have selected were Resident Evil Retribution (2012) and
Halloween (1978). In the film, Resident Evil Retribution, the representation of
women was stronger whereas Halloween represented females as weak and
vulnerable as they are from a different epoch. I have used codes and conventions and
also subverted the representation of women, in my opening sequence of a horror film,
which I will be discussing with further details.
The codes and conventions include:
в¦Ѓ Females are represented as weak and vulnerable
в¦Ѓ Editing / Camera Angles
в¦Ѓ Iconography
The subversion of stereotypes:
в¦ЃThe females are not sexually objectified
The opening sequence I have created has similar conventions to Halloween (1978).
During the closing equilibrium when Judith Myer is screaming it suggests she is
weak and vulnerable, which I have included where both of the young, female
characters scream, once they see the person with the anonymous mask. I have
included this, which ensures the film is easy to market success, as stated by Steve
Neal if there are codes and conventions. Halloween (1978) Judith Myer screaming

The Rolls Royce Limited Effect On The Company Essay
In this report we are going to discuss about the Rolls Royce Limited which exports
aero engines to US. In 1978 and 1979 to maintain the export sales and won huge
engine contracts Rolls Royce entered in contracts that were fixed in the dollars.
While entering into the contracts exchange rate was about $1.80 for one pound and
expected to fall over $1.65 so they did not cover their dollar cover exposure. By the
end of 1979 ВЈ 1 = $2.12. So Rolls Royce suffered loss of ВЈ58 million in 1979 in
spite of increased sales because Rolls Royce s operating costs (wages, components
and debt servicing) are incurred in sterling. Appreciation of home country resulted
in foreign exchange risk and economic exposure. So here in this report we are
providing the factors that led to the economic exposure and inflation affect on the
company. We are providing various financial and non financial alternatives that
Rolls Royce should consider while entering in the contract to eliminate or reduce
the Exchange risk. INTRODUCTION Rolls Royce Limited is the British owned
company which manufactures the aero engines. The engines manufactured by the
company are supplied to the America. U S is largest consumer and supplier of the
air frame. Pratt and Whitney Aircraft group (United Technologies) and General
Electric s Aerospace division is two US companies which dominates the market.

A New Phenomenon And Donald Trump
The recent rise in awareness has brought the concept of income inequality to the
forefront of American s minds; however, this is certainly not a new phenomenon. The
United States has struggled with income inequality since its birth 241 years ago; the
much bigger issue today stands within the mentality of greed that has developed in
recent time. While income inequality has existed since the nation s birth, the looming
threat to societies wellbeing is the emergence of a mentality of greed that has grown
unbridledly in recent decades. America s capitalist economic system has made the
institution of income inequality as American as baseball, cheeseburgers, and pick up

Donald Trump also sees obstacles as mole hills rather than mountains but in an
albeit less shrewd way than Hearst. When told that Mexico was not willing to pay
for his southern border wall, his response was the wall just got 10 feet higher!
(source). (Insert quote about Hearst starting war here). Hearst enjoyed the finest
things in life and bought and built grand monuments to his wealth all over the
world. The list is far too long to detail but highlights include a castle on long island
that F. Scott Fitzgerald used as his inspiration for Gatsby s mansion, an h shaped
mansion in Beverly Hills that the Kennedy s vacationed in and can be seen in The
Godfather, a quintuplex (5 story) penthouse apartment in New York City, and a
massive castle complex in San Simeon, California that sat on a piece of property
half the size of Rhode Island overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Donald Trump also
enjoys monuments to his wealth and has a number of significant properties like high
rises around the world, golf clubs, hotels, and the now infamous Mar a Lago Club in
Palm Beach. Much like Donald Trump, William Randolph Hearstwas born into
privilege. Hearst s father was a successful mining millionaire and kickstarted his sons
career by giving him the San Francisco Examiner in 1887 (source). Trump and his
supporters often herald his empire by saying he built the entire thing from a one
Treatment Options For Opioid Addiction
Introduction : The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) estimates that 40 to
60 percent of recovering addicts are more likely to relapse .1 Opioid addiction is
defined as a pleasurable compulsive act that some may define as a disease.
Unfortunately, treatment options for opioid addiction requires compliance by the
patient in order to successfully overcome addiction. Probuphine is a new treatment
to manage opioid addiction, which was FDA approved based on the safety and
efficacy phase III clinical trial.
Discussion: Probuphine provides an answer to the continuous increase in opioid user
relapsing with its very distinctive delivery platform. The subdermal implant offers a
continuous drug delivery system providing non fluctuating levels in the blood of
buprenorphine for a period of six months as a single treatment.2 The most common
side effects of probuphine are constipation and implant site reactions. Due to the risk
associated with insertion and removal Probuphine is only available through a Risk
Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program.
Conclusion: Probuphine was designed to treat opioid dependence, providing a stable
delivery platform. As a new and effective therapy, patients have the option of
controlling the withdrawal symptoms eliminating the compliance issue.

The Importance Of Direct Democracy
As citizens of the United States, Americans have the responsibility of understanding
their abilities in regards to contribution to political decisions. Especially in recent
years, Americans have come to realize the true significance of direct democracy or a
lack thereof. Although on a federal level direct democracyis lacking, on the state level,
including Californian government, direct democracy can have a significant impact
on the lives of citizens.
What identifies direct democracy as an important tool and a source of power for
citizens is the direct power they have over legislation and/or politics hence, direct
democracy; the citizens do not need approval and recognition by politicians, nor do
they need to be led by them to succeed. The only ingredient required for success is
the support of the masses, which is generally more plausible with an access to large
sums of money. In general, there are three primary methods used in the execution of
direct democracy: referendum, recall, and initiative.
When citizens are unhappy over a piece of legislation that has already been
ratified, it can be petitioned, and if successful, ultimately lead to a popular vote for
the law this is what is known as a referendum. Referendum can come about in two
prime ways legislative referendum and popular referendum. Legislative referendum
is where a legislature allows the people to vote on a bill as opposed to the legislature
voting on it, whereas popular referendum is an attempt to

This imagery helps readers imagine dark, gross, and scary events. The author, Faiz
Ahmed Faiz, wrote a poem called Three Quatrains, which gives an example,
through his third paragraph, of dark imagery that can be gross, I dip my fingers
into my heart s blood, (Faiz 550). By imagining the hearts blood, one can infer that
the person is dying and this shows how this imagery is dark. Dark imagery also
expressed the pain through words, as the author has used pain from the tree that
gives a scary and dark image, This night is the tree of pain, (Faiz 552). Both of the
words night and pain is a start to a horror movie, but it could scare the reader, when
they imagine the same dark place. Dark imagery is also used as a confliction to
confuse the readers. In the poem, Be Near Me, the author contradicts the writing,
which may confuse the audience, My tormentor, my love... darkness comes With the
balm of musk in its hands, (Faiz). This confusion between torment and love is
conflicting to be a dark image, therefore, one s mind might ultimately imagine hate.
Imagery is a strong part of Indian and Pakistan literature to ensure the audience is

Death or Coffee: The Safety of Euthanasia
In 1999 Jack Kevorkian was found guilty of second degree murder and sentenced
to 10 20 years in prison. The 70 year old from Michigan was convicted after he was
videotaped delivering the lethal injection to 52 year old Thomas Youk, who had been
suffering from a neurodegenerative disease. Before then, Kevorkian had lobbied for
experiments to be tested on inmates on death row and suicide dedicated clinics. His
status as a euthanasia lobbyist later earned him the title of Doctor Death .
Kevorkian was involved in as many as 130 assisted suicides over a 9 year period.
When he began his work, there were no laws against assisted suicide in his state, a
fact which would later be pivotal in the court decision regarding Hugh Gale s death.

Although Gale expressed written and verbal consent before the procedure, it was
said that he allegedly showed signs of changing his mind once the mask was
placed over his face. Gale had reportedly said Take it off; take it off during the
procedure. Despite Gale s apparent change in resolve, Kevorkian continued and
completed the procedure. Although Kevorkian was brought to court and it was
confirmed that Gale had said Take it off during the procedure, Kevorkian was ruled
innocent. Factors of the ruling included the lack of laws regarding assisted suicide in
Michigan, lack of motive, and the varying interpretations of Gale s words (Marlinga).
Kevorkian and his business would raise interesting questions about the nature of
assisted suicide and euthanasia in the United States. Kevorkian s trials would not be
the only ones. All over the world people would begin to pry into the morality and
ethics of euthanasia. And in doing so they began to venture into the unknown
territory of euthanasia policy. Following its legalization, legislators around the world
made attempts to ensure that euthanasia was safe and properly controlled. But in spite

major role during Dr. Gonzo and Duke s stay at Las Vegas. Money not only helped
them to fulfill their needs but also reflects their status. Money in cash and credit form
made their journey luxuries and respectful as they got ceased from many problems
caused by their inappropriate behaviour.
In the beginning, itself they got red convertible and bought lot of drugs to make
their journey adventurous. The Magazine that sent them to cover the motorcyclist
race at Las Vegas offered Duke a $300 for the trip expenses whereas Duke ended up
buying drugs. This shows their adventure was all about the presence of money to
buy illegal drugs and get involved in illegal practices.
During the trip, they went to Casinos and became a part of gambling. The visits to
the bars and pubs was common part of their journey. The possession of cards and
cash saved them from many problems. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Predator Compare And Contrast
1987 s film Predator is an unprecedented action thriller that graced the world with its
grandiose portrayal of over the top action, suspense, and more than enough muscle
between these actors to put even such films as Pumping Iron to shame. Predator is a
simple film, and one that has no time for romance nor the time to bleed . This filmis
so brilliantly casted, and along with its simple plot and dialogue it is a blatant
message to anyone who watches it even today; Hollywood can simply never
successfully remake or replicate this masterpiece in today s cinema.
Predator as far as film plots go is extremely simple in its story and acting. It does not
try to make itself out to be anything more than that. It starts off with the Predator

Climate Change Is Induced By Man s Carelessness And

Climate change is the acceleration in regular surface temperatures on Earth. Even
small increments in Earth s temperature provoked by climate change can have serious
effects. The Earth s median temperature has gone up 1.4 ВєF over the past century
and is awaited to rise as much as 11.5 ВєF over the next (Banerjee, 2015). That might
not look like a lot, but the average temperature during the last ice Age was about 4
ВєF lower than it is today. The climate of the planet is constantly changing. This
change is not something new; it is a very old concept, perhaps since the birth of the
universe. The factors or deduction for the climate changecan be split into two sides.
One side is of the opinion that this is a natural course that will and has to develop,
whereas the other side believes that the change has taken place because of the human
activities on the earth. Climate change is induced by man s carelessness and lack of
interest. We need to make a change in order to provide a safe environment for future
generations.
Currently, scientists are changing their opinion and saying that the process of
development is natural. some well known people, for instance, Nobel Prize

How To Raise Test Scores
In order to create new opportunities for students and raise test scores, Principal Dev

high school. Although many students oppose the decision, the principal has made the
right choice.
After observing a school in Florida, the faculty learned that separating the boys and
girls improved test scores immensely, and the scores are continuing to improve. Over
80% of students are now passing the tests now that they are learning in classrooms
with their own gender. The improvement in test scores and the learning environments
will benefit the students and help them succeed more in taking their tests.

While much of the staff is excited to make the changes at their high school, the
students are not very pleased with the proposal. The majority of the student body does
not support the idea, and they believe they will not be able to see the opposite

periods and lunch, so they will be able to interact with one another.

The Freedom Of Speech By The United States Essay
There are many phrases and use of words that can be considered controversial in
the past as well in todays society. The first amendment states that congress shall
make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise
thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the
people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of
grievances. (Volokh, 2016.). Throughout history, congress has kept up their end of the
deal with no laws being established against religion, and those who peacefully
assemble due to recent protests has not be interrupted by the government, for it is
their right as citizens to practice their freedom of speech. Throughout history, there
have been times were civilians felt some of these rightswere infringed by the
government within the United States, as well as outside of the United States, where
other countries may have found themselves in a situation of government versus an
individual or group when it came to their rights not being fulfilled by their
government.
A recent event which has had an impact around the United States, is police and
whether or not they are violating civil rights of some Americans. In an article, Justice
Department report: Baltimore police routinely violated civil rights , it talks about
how the police force in Baltimore, were conducting unlawful stops and using

Angelman Syndrome and Prader-Willi Syndrome Essay
Angelman Syndrome Prader Willi Syndrome
Introduction
Prader Willi and Angelman Syndrome are two genetic disorders with vastly differing
phenotypes linked by missing genetic imprints on the 15th chromosome s q arm
between regions 11 and 13 . While both orders result in mental deficits, their
symptoms are otherwise segregated from the other in their entirety. The differences in
the disorders are the result of differing DNA methylation patterns present in
maternally and paternally inherited DNA. If the deletion occurs in the mother s DNA,
then Prader Willi Syndrome appears. When the deletion occurs in the father s DNA,
Angelman Syndrome is the result.
The phenotypical differences between the two disorders are drastic. Those with ...

The Nature of the Disease Angelman syndrome is thought to be caused mainly by
the deletion of the maternally inherited copy of UEB3A. A small number of cases
are also caused by failures in imprinting or, very rarely, monosomy 15 in the egg
and disomy 15 in the sperm. The profound mental effects are caused by this gene
due to the fact that, while UEB3A s protein is active in various bodily tissues, only
the mother s copy of the gene is active in the brain. The phenotype of Angelman
Syndrome is not overt enough to be detected unless it is being specifically looked for.
EEG scans are capable of detecting the disease at early ages, before it is otherwise
possible to detect.
Prader Willi
Prader Willi is caused by either deletions, failure in imprinting, or monosomy
/disomy 15 from the father s side. The genes involved are known to include, but are
not known to be limited to SNRPN and NDN. NDN odes for the protein Necdin,
which, in rodents, interacts with neurotrophin receptors in a way that is not
completely understood to promote normal cognitive development. SNRPN codes
for several products, including small nucleolar RNAs, a splicing factor involved in
RNA processing, and a polypeptide known as SNURF. The precise role of this gene
is unknown.
Symptoms. Prader Willi syndrome presents symptoms beginning in utero, where the
fetus is less active than one without the

archaeological gem unearthed by a team of determined archaeologists, including the
leader of the excavation, Sir Arthur Evans. The contents that were located by Evans
have allowed multiple conclusions to be formulated. These conclusions define the
society in which the Minoans engaged themselves. It can be stated that the society
within the city of Knossoswas a thought provoking, sophisticated and upper class
community that immersed themselves in their culture. The bull frescoes, intricate
plumbing, social structuring, trade and religion exemplify the diversity within the
Minoan society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is expressed that there were special rooms in the palace set aside as shrines for
ritual purposes. Specifically, the common religious symbol was the double axe.
Cult figurines were also apparent; these were formed from terracotta clay, where
several of these revealed goddess s dressed in Minoan fashion, holding a snake in
either hand. Mycenaean s held cult festivals annually, in which they worshiped the
deity (Minoancivilisation n.d.). The website explains that the King of Knossos
influenced the Minoan society and their religious beliefs, as he was related to Zeus.
Derived from this are multiple implicit values. For one, it is quite evident that the
Minoans religion was elaborate, communicating that they were extremely dedicated
to their beliefs and morals. In addition to this, it is also suggested that they were a
society that was easily manipulated as exemplified through the influence of the king.
Similarly, Cottrell, an ancient archaeology based author, details that archaeologists
discovered ancient crypts, which were dark underground chambers. These locations
served for the purpose of holding mysterious religious practices, known as earth
worship. This was often inscribed with the sign of the double axe. It is also
communicated that the double axe was a powerful symbol that was used as a ritual
instrument for the sacrifice of the bull. Gained from
Paranoia, By Dito Montiel And Starring Liam Hemsworth,...
Paranoia personality disorder can be a very difficult mental condition to live with. In
fact, some people with this condition generally have a hard time trusting and have
difficulties getting along with others. They don t entrust in people and are actually
surprised if someone shows loyalty. They are constantly suspicious of others around
them and contemplate every action. This can lead to the destruction of every
professional and personal relationship they have. In the end however, having this
mental condition doesn t have to be a traumatic event. By seeing a psychologist or
psychiatrist, even those with the most severe cases can learn how to make life with
this mental condition not just easier, but actually manageable.... Show more content

Individual Changes Across Age
Abstract The subject of personal evolution examines how individual changes across
age. When scientists investigate the individual growth, they classify and try to
explain both general aspects that everyone shares and characteristics that are
unparalleled. The objective study of personal development uses theories, analysis,
and data summary to explain why and whereby evolution transpires. It incorporates
the event from conception to end stages. In the interest of being comprehensive in
indications of chronology, it is also wide regarding heterogeneity. The subject of
human development encompasses all types of individuals from various cultures,
societies, generations, and socioeconomic status. The classific of common properties

Nevertheless, they serve two discrete and progressive processes. While development
leads to shifts over time, the word growth refers to material changes. It can be
quantifiably marked and involves dentition, height, and weight. As humans, there is a
physiological pattern, but maturity times differ in various life stages. A good
example of this is when growth occurs during the prenatal period. The growth is
rapid, while there is minimum increase throughout adulthood. The development of
children takes place in a continuous, orderly, and sequential pattern. This design is
influenced by maturational, environmental, and hereditary factors. What this means
that the rate, magnitude, and effects of substantial growth vary from person to
person yet the order is the same. The pattern of growth and development transpires

An Effective Feasibility Study Looks At The Entire Project...
Inexperienced programmers often prefer to tackle the coding to a solution first, and
skip the planning phase. However, it is wise to take the time to plan your project
before you begin programming. An effective feasibility study looks at the entire
project and tries to determine if what you want to undertake is possible to do, valid,
and worthwhile.
There are four main steps in a feasibility study:
Step One Problem Definition
This is a short description (one paragraph) of the application that you plan to make.
A discussion of the game you have chosen to develop (as well a description of the
end users of the software) should be included.
Our company has been employed by a website which hosts online games to create a

Rhetorical Analysis Of John F. Kennedy s Speech
On November 22 of 1963 at 1:00 P.M., John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the
United States, died after being shot thirty minutes earlier while riding in a parade in
Dallas, Texas. The nation mourned for their slain president. Many parents and
grandparents still remember the day of the assassination and the days that followed
as the country was left grieving and in a period of bereavement. In the time
immediately following his death, the nation remembered his moving inaugural
address which gave hope to the ongoing and future aspirations of the country. Given
after he was sworn into office, Kennedy aimed his speech toward his Cabinet and his
fellow American citizens. Purposefully, Kennedy used rhetorical features to project
the ideas of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of each paragraph from paragraphs six through eleven, Kennedy
directs the address to certain groups of people at home and abroad. For example, he
aims his speech [t]o those old allies... (Paragraph 6) or the United States long
established world partners. Next, Kennedy addresses those new states... (Paragraph
6) of Alaska and Hawaii and their entrance into the union. The list of listeners ranges
from those in third world countries to the United Nations to the Soviets, who were
involved in the fighting of the Cold War against the United States at the time.
Though the group of listeners were vast and diverse, Kennedy used the same
parallel structure to introduce them with the word to and the title of the group. By
introducing each paragraph this way, each body is equal in his eyes. Showing
equality and speaking to each body separately makes his address more effective than
if he did not aim each point to a specific group of people.
Allusions helped to strengthen the message of Kennedy, especially in the exposition
of his main argument in this section of the speech. After introducing the audience, the
President shows how he took an oath to this country just like those nearly a century
and three quarters ago (Paragraph 2), which was the time of the founding fathers who
were creating the essential documents such as the Declaration of Independence and
the Constitution upon which the United States was built. This creates ethos by
St. Patrick Research Paper
St. Patrick of Ireland is one of the world s most popular saints. He was born in
Roman Britain and when he was fourteen or so, he was captured by Irish pirates
during a raiding party and taken to Ireland as a slave to herd and tend sheep. At the
time, Ireland was a land of Druids and pagans but Patrick turned to God and wrote
his memoir, The Confession. In The Confession, he wrote: The love of God and
his fear grew in me more and more, as did the faith, and my soul was roused, so
that, in a single day, I have said as many as a hundred prayers and in the night,
nearly the same. I prayed in the woods and on the mountain, even before dawn. I felt
no hurt from the snow or ice or rain. Patrick s captivity lasted until he was twenty,

He worked many miracles and wrote of his love for God in Confessions. After
years of living in poverty, traveling and enduring much suffering he died March 17,
461. He died in Saul, where he had built the first Irish church. He is believed to be
buried in Down Cathedral, Down Patrick. His grave was marked in 1990 with a
granite stone. In His Footsteps: Patrick was a humble, pious, gentle man, whose
love and total devotion to and trust in God should be a shining example to each of
us. So complete was his trust in God, and of the importance of his mission, he
feared nothing not even death. The Breastplate, Patrick s poem of faith and trust in

Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me, Christ beneath me, Christ above

mouth of friend and stranger. Legend credits St. Patrick with teaching the Irish
about the doctrine of the Holy Trinity by showing people the shamrock, a three
leafed plant, using it to illustrate the Christian teaching of three persons in one God.
This story first appears in writing in 1726, though it may be older. The shamrock has

Summary Of James Laxer s Tecumseh And Brock
Published for the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, James Laxer s Tecumseh
Brock is a unique, if troubled, work of historical scholarship. The book approaches
the War of 1812 through the lens of two key leaders: British general Sir Isaac Brock
and leader of his allied native confederacy, Tecumseh. Laxer argues that Britain
avoided defeat in Canada by forming an alliance with Tecumsehs native confederacy,
since they shared the common enemy of the United States. Gathering this intuitively
from the text proves challenging, at best. The separate conflicts between Britain or
the Native Americans versus the US are portrayed as being personified by Tecumseh
and Sir Isaac Brock, respectively. Much of the author s critical thinking revolves
around the effects of the two men on history, as representatives of their conflict with
the United States.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The remainder of the book digresses from Laxer s main ideas, abandons any
semblance of support for the thesis, and serves simply as an inflated denouement to
the conclusion of the War of 1812. The final chapter of the book does little to
reinforce any argument, but rather discusses the nature of Tecumseh and Brock as
some kind of folk legends in Canada. With this in mind a reader must ask, is this a
dual biography? Is it a history of the War of 1812? Is the text simply a piece of anti
American sentiment penned for the bicentennial memorial of 1812 in Canada, as it
often reads? This lack of focus is the problem with Tecumseh Brock. Despite its
compelling nature the text falls short of its academic
Technology in Education Essay
Technology in Education
With technology benefiting various fields, life has suddenly become a joyful
journey for everyone. In the simple forms, like electronic stoves, telephones
displaying caller s ID and automobiles the ride of life has become a pleasure. In the
same way, the lives of students have also taken a leap towards easiness. When we talk
about technology in education the first and foremost advancement is the computer
and internet. If a student has the Encyclopedia of Britannica or Microsoft s Encarta

Now with technology in picture, long distance calls have become much easier and
considerably cheap. Nearly all students in an institute carry cell phones making the
above mentioned problem of worrisome parents seem small. Even though this
involvement of mobile phone in the field of education is not that much, yet it s so
useful that just about everyone has this equipment. Taking lectures was tiresome
task, but with the introduction gadgets like; PDA, laptop and voice recorders, this
dull work is now more enjoyable. Students no longer have to be attentive. All they
need to do is record the instructor s lecture and take down notes at his own leisure.
PDAs and laptops come in handy when the task at hand is more sophisticated and
computer related. Introduction of scanners have made the chore of copying little
less frustrating. Printers too are playing an important role. Notes taken from
internet are easily edited, compiled and then printed. Photo copying machine is the
answer to many prayers also. Expensive books that only institutes can afford, can
easily be borrowed and photo copied for further reference. Libraries are a huge help
in education and combined with technology, not only the staff has become more
relaxed but the readers too now know that hanky panky isn t possible as the records
are now more authenticate. Computers with internet access are now available in
libraries and a separate area is dedicated
How Did Benito Mussolini Gain Power
The following critical review of the factors that brought Benito Mussolini to power
will look at fascism and how Mussolini came to gain political power. This review
will present both aspects of how historians have reacted to various hypotheses about
fascism and Mussolini gaining power, positive reviews that support different
theories and others who oppose certain ideas. The main finding was that Mussolini s
rise to power owes more to the failures of others than to his own strengths. In 1922,
the King of Italy invited Benito Mussolini into government to be Prime Minister.
This was the result of numerous factors, such as Mussolini s charismatic personality,
his way of handling events, favorable circumstances, his ability to detect and use

Several theories have been explained above from various historians about how
Mussolini gained power. Mussolini was able to gain political power through a
series of mistakes and luck. Mussolini started out working in the newspaper
industry, which allowed him to voice his opinions and learn to gauge what the
people wanted. He was an expert at gauging what the people wanted, and was able
to successfully give them what they wanted to hear for many years. As Dr.
Cavaliere claimed, Mussolini had his finger on the pulse of Italy . He was also
able to appeal to returning soldiers, from World War One, who were unemployed
after the war and felt left behind by Italian society. They were the ideal basis for a
paramilitary force, Mussolini s militant wing used to fight the red menace then later
used to promote the part and intimate or punish others. They had the equipment, had
been trained to fight in the Great War, were disciplined soldiers and loyal to

Baczko perceived that there were increasing global opportunities in the toy business.
In an article in 1986 for the industry trade magazine, Playthings, he noted that
customers overseas had higher disposable income, were more educated, and had
more free time. Moreover, these buyers were more price conscious and tended to
prefer specialty retailers, factors that favored the international expansion of TRU.4
The first international store opened in 1984 in Canada. In 1986, TRU struck joint
venture deals in Singapore and Hong Kong. The company next expanded to the
United Kingdom in
1987, into Germany in 1988, and into France and Taiwan in 1989. By 1994, TRU
had penetrated the Nordic countries and developed new franchise relationships with
Top Toy A/S, the leading
Scandinavian toy retailer. The franchise division also led to the entry of TRU to
Israel, Saudi

because of both cultural differences and restrictive laws.
TRU learned to adapt to the different competitive retail situations in each country that
it entered. Different countries can have drastically different competitive
environments. For example, supermarket toy sales as a percentage of all toy sales
range from about 4% in the United
Kingdom to 48% in France. High costs in land, labor, and distribution created

The Effects Of Music Therapy On Patients With Cancer
Rhythm that produces sound whether by means of a voice or instrument can stir a
feeling of joy or sorrow in a human being. One of the earliest known complete music
compositions dating from about 2nd century B.C., an Epitaph believed to have been
written by Seikilos himself while still alive. The (Seikilos) Epitaph has been
translated from the original Greek of that period as:
As long as you live, shine feel no grief at all Life is short Life demands its toll
(Pilich).
The interesting fact about this composition is that the tempo is expressive of
religious solemnity (Pilich). Obviously one can comprehend the fact that music
contains not only mere words but can foster certain emotions that are associated with
a particular piece of music.
Music therapy has proven beneficial to patients with cancer most notably the
psychological and physical end results. More than one million people in the United
States get cancer each year (cancer.org). Most have heard or know of someone who
has had cancer and the stories of the chemo radiation therapy that goes along with it.
Imagine the emotions that one feels when diagnosed with cancer. The patient is
ultimately suffering from the whole ordeal physically and emotionally. Music
interventions are employed to alleviate symptoms and treatment side effects in cancer
patients (Cochrane review).
A recent study of music therapy interventions was conducted on 1,891 participants.
The study was offered by music therapists and medical staff.
The Holocaust Was A Mass Murder
The Holocaust was a mass murder in which about six million Jews were murdered
under the command of Adolf Hitler. This took place throughout German occupied
territories from 1939 to 1945. Before taken to concentration and death camps, Jews
were placed into ghettos, which were set up in order to confine and segregate them
into small towns or cities. The main notion for this action was to dehumanize the Jews
and to rid them of the human population. If Adolf Hitlerhad not come up with the idea
of placing Jews into ghettos, then the Holocaustwould not have been violent as it was.
Jakob the Liar is set in Poland of 1944, and a Jewish man is caught outside after
curfew. Because of this, he was then shipped to the ghetto headquarters. While
waiting for a German officer, he overhears a forbidden radio broadcast about Russian
troops planning a fluctuation. Once within the ghetto, he shares the new information
with a confident, but a rumor is soon spread across the ghetto saying there is a
secret radio inside the ghetto. Eventually, there is a new sense of hope in the ghetto
and he realizes it helps everybody get through the day knowing there is a chance of
being liberated. When German troops find out of these rumors, they become sure
there is a Jew who has secret communication hidden somewhere, and are determined
to find out who and what. The movie Jakob the Liar relates to my topic in many
ways. In this film, many events occurred throughout that has dealt with how the ghetto

Bionic reconstruction is an innovative method integrating nerve and muscle

The Action Research Arm Test (ARAT) measures the ability to perform tasks such
as lifting cans, unbuttoning shirts etc. The Southampton Hand Assessment
Procedure (SHAP) evaluates the efficiency and success of prosthetic limbs. The
Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire calculates the
difficulty for the patients to complete assigned tasks. The results of these tests
showed the pain increased from 5О‡3 (SD 4О‡73) to 30О‡7 (14 0) on the ARAT,
improved from 9О‡3 (SD 1О‡5) to 65О‡3 (SD 19О‡4) on the SHAP and from
46О‡5 (SD 18О‡7) to 11О‡7 (SD 8О‡42) on the DASH survey These outcomes
demonstrate the success of the first bionic reconstruction using prosthetic hands by
representing the ease for the patients using the bionic arms to complete daily
activities. In conclusion, brachial plexus injuries often lead to permanent paralysis of
hands, so the use of bionic reconstruction offers a method to regain the ability of
performing daily activities. The success of this case opens many doors for further
advancements in electromyopgraphic signals and prosthetic hands. The advanced
technology can be used for military purposes or anyone with paralysis prohibiting or
reducing their motility. This technology allows for patients to regain control of their
lost limbs more effectively than with current prosthetic

Roth IRA s are said to give Americans another way to save on taxes. A Roth Ira can
be withdrawn tax free, as long as the account has been open at least five years and
you are age fifty nine and a half when you begin withdrawing the proceeds. The
contributions can be up to two thousand dollars per person or four thousand per
couple. The beauty of a Roth IRA is its simplicity. You can contribute to a Roth
IRA even if you have an employer sponsored retirement plan. You can contribute to
a Roth IRA even if you have an employer sponsored retirement plan. You can make
contributions to a Roth IRA at any age as long as you are earning income. Your
contributions however, can t exceed your income. Someone who contributes even
a little as a teenager can end up with quite a bit of money later on. With a Roth IRA
your beneficiaries will not have to pay income tax on it. A Traditional IRA is for
taxpayers that are under the age of seventy and a half, who are still working. Some
people prefer the traditional IRA because they can get an immediate tax deduction
equal to the contribution they put in. The money in a Traditional IRA grows tax
deferred. You have to pay a tax on all your earnings. Distributions of a Traditional
IRA are required at the age of seventy and a half or you have to face penalties.
There are also penalties on withdrawals before the age of fifty nine and a half such a
ten percent tax unless the money is
Teacher As A High School Teacher
I ve known for a while that I want to do something that helps better shape the lives
of young people. I have had some excellent teachers over the years, and I want to
be able to do what they did for me for other students. My mother and a few of my
other relatives and family friends are teachers, so I ve seen and heard about the
experience firsthand for most of life. Sometimes my mom comes home and says
she had a great day and she loves her job, but other times she is pretty miserable.
Seeing the smile and the struggle that comes with teaching is what really inspired
me. A job where you have a perfect, enjoyable day every day of the year does not
exist. Every job comes with a little bit of struggle; without struggle it won t get better.
The first secondary school was originally meant to train and prepare students to enter
the clergy. In the 1800s secondary schooling became available for children from
different social standings, and in the early 1900s attending secondary school was
made mandatory in the US (Career in Focus Education, p. 40). The secondary school
system has progressed quite a bit over the years for students and teachers alike.
The job of a secondary teacher is composed of several parts, but the most important
part is the actual teaching. Not only do high school teachers educate students on
specific subjects, they also inform students about colleges, jobs, and sometimes
multiple subjects. High school teachers can teach basic, core subjects such as math

Essay On Disney Princesses
Introduction In the past century, we have seen how Disney princesses have
evolved alongside the evolution of society and what society was, or is, believing
in. Women have, over the years, brought about change in gender equality. We
believe that Disney has created his Disney princess movies to adhere to the beliefs
of the society at that time. Looking back at the history of society, it was discovered
that the generations of Disney Princesses followed the characteristics, traits and
beliefs of the three waves of feminism. The first wave concentrated mainly on
women obtaining legal rights, political power and suffrage. The second wave
inspired women to fight for equality in their personal lives and other forms of
inequality in society, education... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be seen to represent those from rich families that were so affected by the
Great Depression that they felt that they had been forever cursed. In the story, the
curse could only be lifted by the kiss from a prince, showing the audience that to
get out of the curse that the Great Depression brought, you had to marry a rich
prince. Second Generation (1960s 1980s) The 1960s to the 1980s was a period of
time that feminists called the second wave of feminism. This was when women
started standing up for their political rights; movements such as the Women s
Rights Movement were born and quite aggressively, put into action. The women of
that time started fighting for the freedom of choice, such as whether or not a
woman wants to bear children or not. Inequality in careers and education were also
some things that the women were fighting for. During this period of time, The
Little Mermaid, featuring Ariel, was released. In this movie, Ariel rebels against
her father by refusing to stay as a mermaid because of her dream to walk on land as
a human. Ariel s song Part of Your World, shows Ariel dreaming about a world
where she is free to be who she wants to be. The lyrics, Bet cha on land they

William Domhoff s Who Rules America Essay
Reading G. William Domhoff s Who Rules America?: The Triumph of the
Corporate Rich was an intriguing and challenging experience for me. My limited
knowledge base of the American political class system mostly stems from high
school US History classes and listening to my mom s stories of her experiences in
the corporate world. Therefore, I am aware that due to my prior lack of knowledge
on the topics presented in Domhoff s book, I may have misjudged some of his finer
points. Part of my struggles may be largely due to the fact that Domhoff s intended
audience for Who Rules America? is other experts in the field of understanding the
sociology of the corporate eliteand their resources of power. However, I believe that
the book has given me a better, if not complete, understanding of the corporate elite
and how they stay in power.
I found the book to be extremely well researched. When Domhoff presents a point,
he uses several sources and logical reasons to back up his theory. For example, when
relating the dominance of the political elite on the government, Domhoff examines
the amount of influence the corporate rich have in our judicial system by
investigating the nine Supreme Court judges during the Obama administration. He
discovered that all of them graduated from one of three elite institutions: Harvard,
Yale, or Columbia (Domhoff, 178, 2014). Domhoff treats most of his assertions in a
similar fashion; he uses extensive research backs up his claims. The book explains the
During The Reformation Dbq Essay
Individuals and groups of a society can promote change of the status quo. Many
people took action and spoke out against issues within society during the
Reformation. The Reformation was a movement in the 16th century where people
called out the Roman Catholic Church on its unjust teachings. These people include
John Wycliffe, Geoffrey Chaucer, and Martin Luther. The Church did not approve of
this criticism and aimed to eliminate those who defied the Church. In the first
document, John Wycliffe claims that the Church is contradicting itself. He claims
that the Church is engaging in behavior that does not comply with what they preach.
John also claims that the pope is wrongly considering himself the head of the Church.
Wycliffe speaks out against... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The popes believe that the indulgences are positive because they provide an
opportunity for those to have their sins forgiven. In document seven, Martin Luther
criticizes the pope and the Church for their use of indulgences. Luther claims that
people are falsely being forgiven for their sins with the use of money. He thinks this is
teaching the false doctrine of money being more important than ethics. People should
be forgiven by God, not by money, and should do so through helping the needy
instead of buying the indulgences. Document eight, Pope Leo X s response to Martin
Luther, states that Martin Luther s comments and motive is the work of the devil. He
thinks Luther is a threat to the Church and orders him to stop preaching. Pope Leo X
realizes that Luther is a legitimate threat and tries to undermine his credibility. In the
ninth document, Luther claims that the pope s response shows that he is the
Antichrist. He claims that the pope has no real evidence to prove he is heretical.
Luther is getting the attention of his followers and is showing that the corruption
within the Church is no joke. Despite threats of punishment, Luther shows resilience
in his pursuit for the improvement of the

For example, when collected the toilet water in San Leandro, the water collected was
placed in a container that may contain sodium, chlorine, or other contaminants. This
error could be reduced by placing doing the water testing kit right at the water site.
This prevents using a container to transport the water from the water site to the
classroom lab.
Conclusion: There are not a lot of connections that can be made of water quality in
the US. The water testing done in the lab does not represent the water quality of the
whole US. However, it is important to understand the contaminants in the water.
Water contaminants are not visible and can cause a long list of health risks. Water
quality is important everywhere. Most importantly, the water being tested was only
in seven sites located in the Bay Area. Water quality monitoring is extremely
important because everyone in America needs water to survive. Water contamination
can result in hundreds of diseases or deaths in the given area. Water monitoring is
done in water treatment centers. Water hardness is determined by the levels of
calcium and magnesium salts. Water softening can cause less soap usage, longer life
for water heaters, and less encrustation for pipes. The disadvantages of water can
cause more sodium in water, plumbing issues, and landscaping. The Bay Area gets its
water from Hetch Hetchy Valley inside Yosemite National Park. The aqueduct and the

Pandoras Box Essay
According to Greek mythology, the griefs of life came into existence as a result of
the introduction of a woman into a purely man inhabited world. The gods were said
to have only created men, until Zeus became angry with mankind and devised the
most horrible punishment he could conceive, creating Woman. Zeus instructed the
smith of the gods, Hephaestus, to create her from the materials of earth and make
her irresistibly beautiful. Each of the Greek gods gave her a gift of skill, and aptly
named her Pandora, meaning all gifted. The messenger god, Hermes, with his winged
sandals, took Zeus ghastly creation down to earth, and with her a box given to her by
the gods with instructions that it never be opened. One of the gifts that the... Show

Although this prevention of disease is theoretically possible, public fears and
apprehensions have prevented this science from being applicable to humans thus far.
With all is known about genes and DNA, the science of genetic engineering has few
limitations except moral and ethical codes. The great effects that this new technology
has to offer far outweighs the minute possibility that implications could arise. Under
restrictions, the availability of genetic modification should be available to allow
parents the choice for the prevention of suffering for their child.
One such apprehension against genetic modification is on the basis of naturalistic
fallacy, as Watson refers to it in his book DNA: The Secret of Life. This
philosophical approach is taken by many when disputing the use of genetic
modification. The common belief underpinning naturalistic fallacy is the assumption
that the way nature intended is best. Society is intolerable to the idea of disturbing
the so called natural order of things, yet so much of one s life is already unnatural.
Through pharmaceuticals, selective breeding, preservatives, and implantable devices
into the body, such as pacemakers, one completely disregards his or her beloved
fallacy and
inadvertently adopts the assumption that the most effective way is best, even if it is
not the natural way. Even hundreds of years ago, society s ancestors

  • 2. How Temperature Affects Speed of Falling Asleep How does temperature affect the speed of falling asleep? Insomnia related sleep problems impact 30% of American adults( Doheny). Many people with insomnia problems typically try traditional solutions for their sleep like a glass of warm milk, avoiding caffeine and a schedule but what about a room temperature? When you go to sleep your body s wanted core temperature is decreased( Doheny). This drop in core temperature is what induces sleep(Bucklan). Though debated to be in ranges of 65В°F 75В°F and 60В°F 68В°F however, many doctors recommend the median of about 65В°F room temperature when sleeping. When at this temperature people are more likely to achieve REM sleep phase or rapid eye movement sleep phase which rejuvenates the body and is when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Getting this better sleep could in general improve how people feel(Gordon). This solution of course has quite a few drawbacks Dealing with Moral , Economical, Social, and Environmental issues. First off is it really Moral to force a large community of people to set their thermostats to a specific temperature? How is it in any way moral to force someone to sleep in the cold? Its not in any way. Then think about it its not moral to force someone to pay for the electricity bill they had no power over stopping which brings up the Economical issue. The American dollar is equivalent to .61 British pounds and its getting worse(Morley). This is caused by inflation and its making Americans well poor. If a person can t spend money on things they want, the economy can t grow and its just going to make it worse. Then comes the Social issue. Not everyone falls asleep at the same time and everybody has a different sleep temperature( Doheny). This means that IF the time is forced to be 8 o clock and you go to sleep at 7 you are still having trouble. Also if your temperature is out of the range you can t sleep. Lastly is the Environmental issue. Many people prefer to turn off the heater at night to save energy. The fact they save this energy means that less is needed. However, if everyone in America is forced to leave it on throughout the night more energy is needed. This sudden need would require a larger use of natural resources which could harm the
  • 3. Hunger Of Memory Richard Rodriguez Chapter Summaries Hunger of Memory The Education of Richard Rodriguez Chapter One Aria: For my part, I felt that I had somehow committed a sin of betrayal by learning English. Rodriguez s parents emphasize a large separation of their Mexican heritage from that of los gringos. The family speaks Spanish to each other, and the transition to speaking English symbolizes that person being spoken to is an outsider, not one to be trusted, an Americano. The language of Spanish, therefore, is a symbol of trust, acceptance, as being part of the family. When Ricardo gives up Spanish for English, although he is urged to do so by his parents, he feels he is betraying his family for los gringos. Chapter Two The Achievement of Desire: Here is a child who cannot forget that his academic success distances him from a life he loved, even from his own memory of himself. This quotation goes hand in hand with the one from Chapter one. Rodriguez is ashamed to be advancing academically because it separates him further and further from his family. He has already traded Spanish for English, and is now struggling with losing some of his family s other cultures. He loses topics to talk about with his family, as he now has little in common with them. Things compelling to him now... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She knew how American society could judge a person solely on how one looked and not on the qualities one possesses. Thus, his skin tone became an insecurity for Rodriguez and caused him to cover up in the sun so as not to make it darker. As he matures and grows successful, Rodriguez finds that his complexion becomes a mark of [his] leisure. Because he is a guest of the hotel, people wonder from what exotic place he had just traveled, rather than him simply being dark skinned. Rodriguez postulates that, had he not been a guest of the hotel but a member of the staff, people would not regard him with respect and envy but with disdain and possibly
  • 4. Stan Lee Impact On Society Stan Lee, a 95 year old actor, writer, publisher, T.V. host, and media producer that has created one of the most successful franchises worldwide, Marvel. With the hundreds of characters, that he either has created or helped to create, he has been able to shape the minds of many. He is able to influence from what costumes kids wear on halloween to what to what they watch. Though this might seem overwhelming or distracting to some it can be helpful to those in need of an escape, plus they can be pretty fun to read. Stan Lee, a well aged man whom hasn t changed for anyone but has somehow changed the very world before our eyes, still works tireless. Stan Lee like many artists took inspiration from his past to create something of great worth ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though that is just one result, Stan Lee has become a famous name that people of all ages know and love, and not just because his comics. While Stan Lee s legacy is still evolving it has already made a big impact on both society and entertainment. Thanks to Stan there is more diversity in characters in shows and movies, and they are more geared toward children while also keeping a ___ story line that adults love and some jokes for the adults to enjoy. This can help parents introduce their kids to what is right and what is wrong more easily. Though the changes he has caused haven t just affected children and their parents, when his characters started to become more and more popular other companies began joining them in the newest trend. As other companies started to become less popular and the writing industry become more exclusive, Marvel s popularity soared and the company grew rapidly. When their competitors realised what was happening they started making deals with them. Though many other businesses still thought that it was just a fad, as a result many of them failed... Though Stan Lee s impact has affected Marvel s competitors greatly, he has also affected the need for children s toys and collectables. An example of this change would be
  • 5. Importance Of Punctuality In The Army Life of a soldier is run by strict set of rules that every soldier is compelled to follow right from the beginning of their army training. Some of the most important maxims of army life include, being punctual, always prepared and of course, being able to manage your time in an effective manner. These maxims are strictly followed in the army and if a soldier fails to meet anyone of these maxims then he or she can be punished according to the American military s Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). However, these qualities are respected in a man regardless of their profession in life. Being punctual in your job, prepared for your meeting and managing your time can improve your relations with others and pave way for your success. Punctuality in the Army A soldier is always expected to be on time, being late can be problematic not only for him but also for his brothers in arms. The reason army lays such great importance to punctuality is because when the soldier has to enter the real life battlefield then there is no relaxation for laziness. Even a minute late to a specific rally point can be the difference between life and death. Consider a situation where a soldier has to provide supporting fire to cover for his friend, if the soldier does to not strictly obey time then there is a good chance that his friend would be in life threatening trouble. The army has a set of rules in place to ensure that the quality of punctuality is integrated into the personalities of the
  • 6. Organizational Structure Of An Organization 1.Introduction An organization is defined as a group of people who work together in an organized way for shared purpose. When people come together, they can either compliment one another or potentially create conflicts and disagreements in the course of pursuing common objectives with their differentiated experiences, perceptions and knowledge. Managing an organization involves putting a structure to the business so that managers can manage, supervise and coordinate its people and organization s performance. A structure serves as a framework for the purpose of outlining clear operating guidelines in order to keep the organization functional. It defines the hierarchical lines of authority, establishing job roles and responsibilities, details communication channels to determine how information should flow within the organization. A well fitted organizational structurewill have positive impacts on both its employees and its performance. 2.Organizational Structures Organizational structures exist in two basic forms, the organic and the mechanistic, each contrastive of another (Burns Stalker, 1961). Measured by four main elements of an organization s characteristics; standardization, formalization, role specifications, and centralization of its operating unit, the time taken and frequency of future activities and change implementations are also taken into consideration. Seen in Appendix 1, the diagram depicts the four elements an organization can structure itself. In
  • 7. The Representation Of Women s Film I Have Selected Were... A2 Media Coursework Production Evaluation The focus of my investigation was to analyse the representation of women in horror films. The films I have selected were Resident Evil Retribution (2012) and Halloween (1978). In the film, Resident Evil Retribution, the representation of women was stronger whereas Halloween represented females as weak and vulnerable as they are from a different epoch. I have used codes and conventions and also subverted the representation of women, in my opening sequence of a horror film, which I will be discussing with further details. The codes and conventions include: в¦Ѓ Females are represented as weak and vulnerable в¦Ѓ Editing / Camera Angles в¦Ѓ Iconography The subversion of stereotypes: в¦ЃThe females are not sexually objectified The opening sequence I have created has similar conventions to Halloween (1978). During the closing equilibrium when Judith Myer is screaming it suggests she is weak and vulnerable, which I have included where both of the young, female characters scream, once they see the person with the anonymous mask. I have included this, which ensures the film is easy to market success, as stated by Steve Neal if there are codes and conventions. Halloween (1978) Judith Myer screaming Image Trapped 2016 (Opening Sequence I created) Nabila screaming Image Trapped 2016 (Opening Sequence I created) Halima screaming Image I have selected a mid shot, the purpose of this was to ensure the audience clearly see the
  • 8. The Rolls Royce Limited Effect On The Company Essay In this report we are going to discuss about the Rolls Royce Limited which exports aero engines to US. In 1978 and 1979 to maintain the export sales and won huge engine contracts Rolls Royce entered in contracts that were fixed in the dollars. While entering into the contracts exchange rate was about $1.80 for one pound and expected to fall over $1.65 so they did not cover their dollar cover exposure. By the end of 1979 ВЈ 1 = $2.12. So Rolls Royce suffered loss of ВЈ58 million in 1979 in spite of increased sales because Rolls Royce s operating costs (wages, components and debt servicing) are incurred in sterling. Appreciation of home country resulted in foreign exchange risk and economic exposure. So here in this report we are providing the factors that led to the economic exposure and inflation affect on the company. We are providing various financial and non financial alternatives that Rolls Royce should consider while entering in the contract to eliminate or reduce the Exchange risk. INTRODUCTION Rolls Royce Limited is the British owned company which manufactures the aero engines. The engines manufactured by the company are supplied to the America. U S is largest consumer and supplier of the air frame. Pratt and Whitney Aircraft group (United Technologies) and General Electric s Aerospace division is two US companies which dominates the market. • 9. A New Phenomenon And Donald Trump The recent rise in awareness has brought the concept of income inequality to the forefront of American s minds; however, this is certainly not a new phenomenon. The United States has struggled with income inequality since its birth 241 years ago; the much bigger issue today stands within the mentality of greed that has developed in recent time. While income inequality has existed since the nation s birth, the looming threat to societies wellbeing is the emergence of a mentality of greed that has grown unbridledly in recent decades. America s capitalist economic system has made the institution of income inequality as American as baseball, cheeseburgers, and pick up trucks. Arguably since the 1980 s and 90 s, an ornery wee gremlin dubbed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Donald Trump also sees obstacles as mole hills rather than mountains but in an albeit less shrewd way than Hearst. When told that Mexico was not willing to pay for his southern border wall, his response was the wall just got 10 feet higher! (source). (Insert quote about Hearst starting war here). Hearst enjoyed the finest things in life and bought and built grand monuments to his wealth all over the world. The list is far too long to detail but highlights include a castle on long island that F. Scott Fitzgerald used as his inspiration for Gatsby s mansion, an h shaped mansion in Beverly Hills that the Kennedy s vacationed in and can be seen in The Godfather, a quintuplex (5 story) penthouse apartment in New York City, and a massive castle complex in San Simeon, California that sat on a piece of property half the size of Rhode Island overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Donald Trump also enjoys monuments to his wealth and has a number of significant properties like high rises around the world, golf clubs, hotels, and the now infamous Mar a Lago Club in Palm Beach. Much like Donald Trump, William Randolph Hearstwas born into privilege. Hearst s father was a successful mining millionaire and kickstarted his sons career by giving him the San Francisco Examiner in 1887 (source). Trump and his supporters often herald his empire by saying he built the entire thing from a one
  • 10. Treatment Options For Opioid Addiction Introduction : The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) estimates that 40 to 60 percent of recovering addicts are more likely to relapse .1 Opioid addiction is defined as a pleasurable compulsive act that some may define as a disease. Unfortunately, treatment options for opioid addiction requires compliance by the patient in order to successfully overcome addiction. Probuphine is a new treatment to manage opioid addiction, which was FDA approved based on the safety and efficacy phase III clinical trial. Discussion: Probuphine provides an answer to the continuous increase in opioid user relapsing with its very distinctive delivery platform. The subdermal implant offers a continuous drug delivery system providing non fluctuating levels in the blood of buprenorphine for a period of six months as a single treatment.2 The most common side effects of probuphine are constipation and implant site reactions. Due to the risk associated with insertion and removal Probuphine is only available through a Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) program. Conclusion: Probuphine was designed to treat opioid dependence, providing a stable delivery platform. As a new and effective therapy, patients have the option of controlling the withdrawal symptoms eliminating the compliance issue. ____________________________________________________________________________ Introduction Extended: Opioid abuse is a disease that affects between 26.4 million and 36 million people around
  • 11. The Importance Of Direct Democracy As citizens of the United States, Americans have the responsibility of understanding their abilities in regards to contribution to political decisions. Especially in recent years, Americans have come to realize the true significance of direct democracy or a lack thereof. Although on a federal level direct democracyis lacking, on the state level, including Californian government, direct democracy can have a significant impact on the lives of citizens. What identifies direct democracy as an important tool and a source of power for citizens is the direct power they have over legislation and/or politics hence, direct democracy; the citizens do not need approval and recognition by politicians, nor do they need to be led by them to succeed. The only ingredient required for success is the support of the masses, which is generally more plausible with an access to large sums of money. In general, there are three primary methods used in the execution of direct democracy: referendum, recall, and initiative. When citizens are unhappy over a piece of legislation that has already been ratified, it can be petitioned, and if successful, ultimately lead to a popular vote for the law this is what is known as a referendum. Referendum can come about in two prime ways legislative referendum and popular referendum. Legislative referendum is where a legislature allows the people to vote on a bill as opposed to the legislature voting on it, whereas popular referendum is an attempt to
  • 12. Harry Strains By Jk Rowling Summary The author J. K. Rowling wrote a book called Harry Potter. He intrigued his audience by having different uses of imagery. J. K. Rowling describes various different ideas in his book to create imagery, the tastes and smell of food, sounds from the forest, sights Harry Potter saw at Hogwarts, and the feelings Harry got from his scar, therefore these are all unlike examples of different types of imagery. The imagery used by Rowling including senses of taste, smell, hearing, sight, and touch. India and Pakistanwriters use three types of imagery to intrigue the readers into reading more into the writing. Auditory, visual,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This imagery helps readers imagine dark, gross, and scary events. The author, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, wrote a poem called Three Quatrains, which gives an example, through his third paragraph, of dark imagery that can be gross, I dip my fingers into my heart s blood, (Faiz 550). By imagining the hearts blood, one can infer that the person is dying and this shows how this imagery is dark. Dark imagery also expressed the pain through words, as the author has used pain from the tree that gives a scary and dark image, This night is the tree of pain, (Faiz 552). Both of the words night and pain is a start to a horror movie, but it could scare the reader, when they imagine the same dark place. Dark imagery is also used as a confliction to confuse the readers. In the poem, Be Near Me, the author contradicts the writing, which may confuse the audience, My tormentor, my love... darkness comes With the balm of musk in its hands, (Faiz). This confusion between torment and love is conflicting to be a dark image, therefore, one s mind might ultimately imagine hate. Imagery is a strong part of Indian and Pakistan literature to ensure the audience is engaged and interested in the works of

The 70 year old from Michigan was convicted after he was videotaped delivering the lethal injection to 52 year old Thomas Youk, who had been suffering from a neurodegenerative disease. Before then, Kevorkian had lobbied for experiments to be tested on inmates on death row and suicide dedicated clinics. His status as a euthanasia lobbyist later earned him the title of Doctor Death . Kevorkian was involved in as many as 130 assisted suicides over a 9 year period. When he began his work, there were no laws against assisted suicide in his state, a fact which would later be pivotal in the court decision regarding Hugh Gale s death. On ... Although Gale expressed written and verbal consent before the procedure, it was said that he allegedly showed signs of changing his mind once the mask was placed over his face. Gale had reportedly said Take it off; take it off during the procedure. Despite Gale s apparent change in resolve, Kevorkian continued and completed the procedure. Although Kevorkian was brought to court and it was confirmed that Gale had said Take it off during the procedure, Kevorkian was ruled innocent. Factors of the ruling included the lack of laws regarding assisted suicide in Michigan, lack of motive, and the varying interpretations of Gale s words (Marlinga). Kevorkian and his business would raise interesting questions about the nature of assisted suicide and euthanasia in the United States. Kevorkian s trials would not be the only ones. All over the world people would begin to pry into the morality and ethics of euthanasia. And in doing so they began to venture into the unknown territory of euthanasia policy. Following its legalization, legislators around the world made attempts to ensure that euthanasia was safe and properly controlled. But in spite

Money not only helped them to fulfill their needs but also reflects their status. The Earth s median temperature has gone up 1.4 ВєF over the past century and is awaited to rise as much as 11.5 ВєF over the next (Banerjee, 2015). That might not look like a lot, but the average temperature during the last ice Age was about 4 ВєF lower than it is today. The climate of the planet is constantly changing. This change is not something new; it is a very old concept, perhaps since the birth of the universe. The factors or deduction for the climate changecan be split into two sides. One side is of the opinion that this is a natural course that will and has to develop, whereas the other side believes that the change has taken place because of the human activities on the earth. Climate change is induced by man s carelessness and lack of interest. We need to make a change in order to provide a safe environment for future generations. A small number of cases are also caused by failures in imprinting or, very rarely, monosomy 15 in the egg and disomy 15 in the sperm. The profound mental effects are caused by this gene due to the fact that, while UEB3A s protein is active in various bodily tissues, only the mother s copy of the gene is active in the brain. The phenotype of Angelman Syndrome is not overt enough to be detected unless it is being specifically looked for. EEG scans are capable of detecting the disease at early ages, before it is otherwise possible to detect. Mycenaean s held cult festivals annually, in which they worshiped the deity (Minoancivilisation n.d.). For one, it is quite evident that the Minoans religion was elaborate, communicating that they were extremely dedicated to their beliefs and morals. In addition to this, it is also suggested that they were a society that was easily manipulated as exemplified through the influence of the king. • 27. Summary Of James Laxer s Tecumseh And Brock Published for the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812, James Laxer s Tecumseh Brock is a unique, if troubled, work of historical scholarship. The book approaches the War of 1812 through the lens of two key leaders: British general Sir Isaac Brock and leader of his allied native confederacy, Tecumseh. Laxer argues that Britain avoided defeat in Canada by forming an alliance with Tecumsehs native confederacy, since they shared the common enemy of the United States. Gathering this intuitively from the text proves challenging, at best. The separate conflicts between Britain or the Native Americans versus the US are portrayed as being personified by Tecumseh and Sir Isaac Brock, respectively. With this in mind a reader must ask, is this a dual biography? Is it a history of the War of 1812? Is the text simply a piece of anti American sentiment penned for the bicentennial memorial of 1812 in Canada, as it often reads? This lack of focus is the problem with Tecumseh Brock. Unique to many of these services is the option of Cloud storage, where you store a small file on your device which links the lookup data to the main server of whichever streaming service you re using, essentially enabling you to save all the music available on the service with a minimal amount of space taken up on your device and very little bandwidth usage. iPod streaming is another possible route the company could take to extend the products profitable life, while utilising innovations such as cloud storage for virtually limitless music for the consumer. One of the earliest known complete music compositions dating from about 2nd century B.C., an Epitaph believed to have been written by Seikilos himself while still alive. The (Seikilos) Epitaph has been translated from the original Greek of that period as: As long as you live, shine feel no grief at all Life is short Life demands its toll (Pilich). The interesting fact about this composition is that the tempo is expressive of religious solemnity (Pilich). Obviously one can comprehend the fact that music contains not only mere words but can foster certain emotions that are associated with a particular piece of music. Music therapy has proven beneficial to patients with cancer most notably the psychological and physical end results. More than one million people in the United States get cancer each year (cancer.org). Most have heard or know of someone who has had cancer and the stories of the chemo radiation therapy that goes along with it. Imagine the emotions that one feels when diagnosed with cancer. The patient is ultimately suffering from the whole ordeal physically and emotionally. Music interventions are employed to alleviate symptoms and treatment side effects in cancer patients (Cochrane review). A recent study of music therapy interventions was conducted on 1,891 participants. The study was offered by music therapists and medical staff.
  • 36. The Holocaust Was A Mass Murder The Holocaust was a mass murder in which about six million Jews were murdered under the command of Adolf Hitler. This took place throughout German occupied territories from 1939 to 1945. Before taken to concentration and death camps, Jews were placed into ghettos, which were set up in order to confine and segregate them into small towns or cities. The main notion for this action was to dehumanize the Jews and to rid them of the human population. If Adolf Hitlerhad not come up with the idea of placing Jews into ghettos, then the Holocaustwould not have been violent as it was. Jakob the Liar is set in Poland of 1944, and a Jewish man is caught outside after curfew. Because of this, he was then shipped to the ghetto headquarters. While waiting for a German officer, he overhears a forbidden radio broadcast about Russian troops planning a fluctuation. Once within the ghetto, he shares the new information with a confident, but a rumor is soon spread across the ghetto saying there is a secret radio inside the ghetto. Eventually, there is a new sense of hope in the ghetto and he realizes it helps everybody get through the day knowing there is a chance of being liberated. When German troops find out of these rumors, they become sure there is a Jew who has secret communication hidden somewhere, and are determined to find out who and what. The movie Jakob the Liar relates to my topic in many ways. In this film, many events occurred throughout that has dealt with how the ghetto

The Action Research Arm Test (ARAT) measures the ability to perform tasks such as lifting cans, unbuttoning shirts etc. The Southampton Hand Assessment Procedure (SHAP) evaluates the efficiency and success of prosthetic limbs. The Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire calculates the difficulty for the patients to complete assigned tasks. The results of these tests showed the pain increased from 5О‡3 (SD 4О‡73) to 30О‡7 (14 0) on the ARAT, improved from 9О‡3 (SD 1О‡5) to 65О‡3 (SD 19О‡4) on the SHAP and from 46О‡5 (SD 18О‡7) to 11О‡7 (SD 8О‡42) on the DASH survey These outcomes demonstrate the success of the first bionic reconstruction using prosthetic hands by representing the ease for the patients using the bionic arms to complete daily activities. In conclusion, brachial plexus injuries often lead to permanent paralysis of hands, so the use of bionic reconstruction offers a method to regain the ability of performing daily activities. The success of this case opens many doors for further advancements in electromyopgraphic signals and prosthetic hands. The advanced technology can be used for military purposes or anyone with paralysis prohibiting or reducing their motility. This technology allows for patients to regain control of their lost limbs more effectively than with current prosthetic

My limited knowledge base of the American political class system mostly stems from high school US History classes and listening to my mom s stories of her experiences in the corporate world. Therefore, I am aware that due to my prior lack of knowledge on the topics presented in Domhoff s book, I may have misjudged some of his finer points. Part of my struggles may be largely due to the fact that Domhoff s intended audience for Who Rules America? is other experts in the field of understanding the sociology of the corporate eliteand their resources of power. However, I believe that the book has given me a better, if not complete, understanding of the corporate elite and how they stay in power. I found the book to be extremely well researched. When Domhoff presents a point, he uses several sources and logical reasons to back up his theory. For example, when relating the dominance of the political elite on the government, Domhoff examines the amount of influence the corporate rich have in our judicial system by investigating the nine Supreme Court judges during the Obama administration. He discovered that all of them graduated from one of three elite institutions: Harvard, Yale, or Columbia (Domhoff, 178, 2014). Domhoff treats most of his assertions in a similar fashion; he uses extensive research backs up his claims. The book explains the

He thinks this is teaching the false doctrine of money being more important than ethics. People should be forgiven by God, not by money, and should do so through helping the needy instead of buying the indulgences. Under restrictions, the availability of genetic modification should be available to allow parents the choice for the prevention of suffering for their child. One such apprehension against genetic modification is on the basis of naturalistic fallacy, as Watson refers to it in his book DNA: The Secret of Life. This philosophical approach is taken by many when disputing the use of genetic modification. The common belief underpinning naturalistic fallacy is the assumption that the way nature intended is best. Society is intolerable to the idea of disturbing the so called natural order of things, yet so much of one s life is already unnatural.
