Mathematics Peacefully, Working On An Assignment For My Math
I sit in the library peacefully, working on an assignment for my math. Trigonometry: a bit hard, but
fun. I continue to sip on my leaf water out of my nice cat mug; the one with a cat and under it the
word Catffeinated on it. Then Stephaniey, the daughter of the biggest man in the city, comes over.
Hello, Stephaniey. Ah hello, friend. Could I see your tea set?
She points at the box by my backpack, a clear mocking tone to the word friend , but I pass it off
as a mishearing. I have the set with me today because my chem lab teacher was interested in my
collection, as he, too, is a collector. Yeah, sure, I guess. She opens the box, removes the protective
padding, and picks up a cup. She lifts it up to the light for what I think ... Show more content on

With a firm grasp, I flip her over onto the floor. In the process, I get up, my body hunched over
hers. The blood on my face drips onto her. Screeches of horror come out of her mouth.
AH, YOUR BLOODS GETTING ON MY DESIGNER CLOTHING!
Alright, I wasn t too mad at the cup breaking, but PUSHING MY FACE INTO ITS SHARDS

Shakespeare s thoughts on Modern Culture
To aide in this paper, I have chosen the song We didn t start the Fire, by Billy Joel to help provide
modern events that William Shakespeare s works can relate to. Shakespeare s plethora of works
provide information about his thoughts on society during his life. Many events and topics that are
seen in modern culture are relatable to events that occurred during Shakespeare s life, such as
government, assassinations, and controversies. Shakespeare s characters from his many plays
reflect his thoughts and provide an instant ability to connect modern culture back through
Shakespeare s writing.
Government in England during the time of Shakespeare s life consisted of a Monarchy.
In the United States the governmental system used is a Representative Democracy (Kurtus).
Shakespeare in his life had a strong view on government, Fit to be govern? You re not fit to live,
(Macbeth) Shakespeare writes this as Macduff frets over the future of Scotland with Macbeth in
command. Shakespeare writes these lines talking about Macbeth, but the lines send a message
about Shakespeare s thoughts on government. Shakespeare s opinions would still be strong today,
with corrupt political systems, the United States needs a man such as William Shakespeare to bring
attention through literature to the ruins of our nation s political system.
Literature has been a crucial part in the

Ischemic Stroke Case Study Paper
Case Study: Patient with Ischemic Stroke Mrs. Alice Palmer is a 54 year old married woman
who has been admitted and is being treated with an ischemic stroke which she had 18 hours ago.
This paper explores the nursing care of Mrs. Alice Palmer based on the clinical reasoning cycle by
considering her situation first, collecting cues and information about her, processing the
information gathered, then identifying problems or issues she is experiencing, and finally carrying
out a detailed assessment. Also, the paper focuses on setting goals and establishing a nursing care
plan in the community, and target ethnically safe practice. Ischemic stroke occurs when the brain
tissue does not receive sufficient oxygenated blood due to an obstruction of the carotid artery
(Brunner, Suddarth, Smeltzer, 2008). When the brain does not receive enough oxygenated blood,
some or all of its tissues may get damaged... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alice Palmer has a mild brain tissue damage associated with the ischemic stroke as evidenced by a
Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15. On the other hand, she has a normal heart rate of 89 beats per
minute (HR 89) and a blood pressure of 155/90 mmHg. A blood pressure of 155/90 mmHg is an
indication of stage 1 hypertension. Mrs. Alice Palmer is hypertensive because she refused to take
medication while she was at home (Grace Meissner, 2011; Fortrat Gharib, 2016). Further, Mrs.
Alice Palmer has a left sided hemiparesis which indicates damage to the right side of the brain.
Left sided hemiparesis is a weak muscle tone of the left side of the body which leads to faded
movement and carrying out self care activities such as dressing, bathing, and grabbing objects
(Fischer et al., 2016). Moreover, damage to the right side of the brain is associated with poor
memory since the limbic system is located in that region (Usher Marriott, 2011). Also, Mrs. Alice
had a bilateral visual field deficit because of the mild brain tissue damage associated with the

Decentralized Organizations And Its Impact On...
While organizations once typically held centralized structures, the more recent trend is toward
decentralization. Centralization is the extent that and organization s decision making is made at a
single point or by a single person. In centralized organizations, top managers make all of the
decisions, while lower level managers and employees follow their instructions. In decentralized
organizations, decision making is delegated to work groups or the managers who are closest to the
organization s day to day actions. Centralization affects employee/manager relationships by
providing a more stable environment and clarity regarding whom to go to for directions, while
decentralizationallows employees to feel less isolated from decision makers and have more
autonomy. In terms of its impact on organizational strategies, decentralization allows for problems
to be solved more quickly by those who have more direct knowledge about the specific customer
base, while centralization lets companies avoid bad choices and maintain a stable environment.
Centralization affects employee/manager relationships by providing clarity about the relationship.
Because it is so structured, it provides a more stable environment with a clear hierarchy. As a result,
centralization provides an unambiguous relationship between managers and their employees. In
centralized organizations, there is no confusion about who to report to or whose instructions to
follow. Simple structures, bureaucracies, and virtual

Trevor Mckinney s Seventh Class Assignment
On Trevor McKinney s first day of his seventh grade year his social studies teacher, Eugene
Simonet, assigned the whole class an assignment that would be something they would try to do
during the whole year. The assignment was, Think of an idea to change our World and put it into
action. After being assigned the assignment Trevor knew what to do. He then came up with pay
it forwardism. This is when one does a selfless act for three people, and then those people do the
same for three more people and so on and so forth.
During the movie Trevor motivates a lot of different people. While helping people out Trevor tells
them instead of paying him back; they should pay it forward for three other people. Trevor starts off

Argumentative Essay On Six Flags
Would you ever like to go to a special, amazing, extraordinary field trip? If so then what was it.
Have you ever heard of six flags, it is a water park that has all type of slides, roller coasters and
more? Well six flags are one of the field trips that I would want to go to. Many teachers argue that
the field trips are not educational, but I argue that six flags has many educational things.
Ranging from classroom sessions and swimming in water with dolphins to learning about and
actually sleeping with the sharks, these programs are designed to allow individualized or group
learning opportunities. Also it is a great place to have fun with your friends and family. There is
also a very cool slide that they made this year. It is called the King Cobra, how does that sound.
To begin, six flags is very educational because students will be put to the test with hands on
learning to master the math and science of our coasters. Following the assemblies, students are
able to participate in four special park activities and prizes. Plus, you ll have full access to all
rides and attractions and a complete curriculum, featuring data collection and workbook problems.
They will be asked questions about rides and get prizes if they get the correct answer.... Show more

The Art Of Travel By Alain De Botton s Picnic At...
Alternative landscapes allow freedom from repressive environments and this has an effect on the
psyche of individuals and demonstrates the complexity of human nature. Alain De Botton s The Art
of Travel reflects on the impact of different landscapes that lead to the ultimate search for happiness
while questioning the psychological effect of this pursuit. Peter Weir s Picnic at Hanging Rock is
based on the disappearance of three school girls in a mysterious manner, leaving the audience
questioning humanbehaviour in relation to the environment they are in. As the stories progress, self
discovery leads to the questioning of identities and values upheld, both by society and within
ourselves, that can ultimately determine our happiness,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is discussed that we as individuals must see the beauty around us and learn to appreciate it, not
fanaticise about what we do not have. Egypt lent support to ideas and values that were part of his
identity but for which his own society had little sympathy. This quote from Motives: On the
Exotic, suggests that different landscapes allow individuals to pursue their desires that may not be
accepted in their culture. Freedom from the pressures of society allow their real ideology and
identity to be seen in landscapes that support the views and values of this individual as seen by
Gustave Flaubert in Egypt.
Picnic at Hanging Rock explores external forces that impact on the actions of the young women
that contradict their upbringing and place in society. As they interact with the environment, they
lose the values of their school which opposes their class and social stigma. The environment is
represented as being wild and untamed, and as the sophisticated young women enter this
environment, they lose their innocence and an air of sexuality engulfs the young women. There
is a conflict in the portrayal of repressed and expressed sexuality behaviour as well as the
complete opposite, such as the headmistress who tends to deny any sort of sexual forces and the
young girls who seem to yearn to act on these desires. The

Ancient Stories Of The Sumerians
The Sumerians Although, we widely attribute the ancient stories of the Sumerians to pure
mythology, they went to great lengths to understand and create a way to record their history,
society structure, and development; just as we do for historical events today. The most accepted
view on what makes a culture civilized or having obtained civilization is a culture which has
attained a degree of complexity, usually characterized by urban life (Guisepi). As far as the
Sumerian culture is concerned, they created our foundation for what we consider today, as the
standards for civilization. Even though human exploration and discoveries continue to uncover
previously unknown chapters of our story here on earth, the extensive amount of archeological
evidence we have for the Sumerians and time frame, allow us to accredit them for over 100 firsts
for the human civilization from their ingenuities, accomplishments, and inventions. Many of which
we can still see in use, in some form, in our modern society today. According to Samuel Kramer, For
those not familiar with this remarkable, resourceful and intelligent people, who not only invented
writing but also established the true mythological foundations of all main religions of the world,
simply put, they taught us almost everything . The Sumerians settled in Mesopotamiaaround 4000
BCE. between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, which is known today, as southern Iraq. Notice the

Phillis Wheatley’s Fight against Slavery Essays
Phillis Wheatley is a gem of her time; the first African American woman to have her poetry
published. Though purchased as a slave, her life was far from most African Americans during the
17th century. She was educated and became deeply rooted in her faith: Christianity. From an
outsider, her life may be viewed as an adopted child rather than a slave to the Wheatley family.
However, she did not forget where she came from or those less fortunate than herself. Wheatley
used the educationshe was afforded and her new found spirituality to fight against slaverythrough
the use of words (751). One of the greatest examples of this is her poem To the University of
Cambridge, in New England addressed to perhaps the well educated group of... Show more content

This knowledge is that the Savior died for their sins and awaits their arrival in heaven to share with
Him in the sublimest skies (19). She continues to warn the students of the repercussions of sin;
transient sweetness turns to endless pain (29). The phrase transient sweetness may refer to the
short duration of wealth and prosperity on Earth in contrast to the endless pain one might
experience in hell for their ill actions. She urges the students to shun baneful evil to the soul
which she most likely associates with slavery. Slavery is not only immoral behavior; it literally
causes pain and destruction to individuals. She uses the phrase human race divine as well as the
words pupil and privileged to describe the students superiority in society (27). This is important,
why does she choose to enlighten the most intelligent group of individuals, many of whom may
practice slavery? Perhaps, she chose this particular audience to convey her message because they
would have the greatest ability; intelligence, to see the error of slavery and have the status to put
an end to it. Throughout the poem the tone is earnest. Wheatley expresses intense seriousness when
she begins to discuss religion and the temptation of sin. For example, she uses phrases such as

The Effect Of Stock Market On Gdp Growth
Extensive amount of studies have been undertaken to examine the effect of stock market on GDP
growth. Some of the studies on this topic are Demirguc Kunt and Levine (1995), Levine and
Zervos (1993, 1995, 1998) etc. In theory well developed stock market should enduce saving and
efficiently allocate capital to productive investments which would later lead to increase in the rate
of real output. Stock markets contribute to accumulation of domestic savings by enhancing the
scope of financial instruments available to savers and investors trough diversification of their
portfolios. Dailami and Aktin (1990) think stock markets provide important source of capital
investment at low cost which should serve as an obvious benefit for the economy in general. In
developed economies with developed stock markets share ownership provides individuals with
probably the most liquid means of sharing the risks and benefits of investing in promising projects.
The main advantage of liquid stock market is that it provides investors to cope with liquididy risk
by allowing participants hit by illiquidity constraints to sell their stakes to othe participants who at
the time do not suffer form the same problem. These transactions are done in real time with
frictions in the market being at the minimum. The ending result of this process is that capital is not
prematurely withdrawn form firms to meet short term liquidity need. It is just changing hands.
Stock markets also play an important role in

Morality In The Lottery
When thinking of traditions, the first few that come to mind are putting up the Christmas tree,
going to the fair, and many others. Traditions intertwine between families and others as well, and
even nationwide. However, there are some traditions that we are not able to fathom. For example,
in The Lottery , there is a lottery drawn every year for a good crop season. During this tradition,
one person from the community is stoned to death as a sacrifice. Why don t people question
traditions like this? People who grow up in certain communities do things a little different than their
neighboring towns, because it is what they have known their entire life. To them, it is normal .
Consistency is like a drug due to the fact that people do not always adapt well. People often fixate
on repeated circumstances and the outcome can be detrimental. Repeating the lotteryevery year in
their town is quite out of the morality I have, however, it is the tradition they all are familiar with.

am more aware of the impact they have on my life and the one s who take part in the same

kid. Watching the fireworks on the fourth of July, participating in the hunting of Easter eggs, and
also preparing Thanksgiving dinner never brought a question to my mind such as, Why am I doing
this? . As a child you are dependent on your parents and there is usually no question as to why they
are doing the things they do each year just like those who participated in the stoning. Some of the
people who threw stones were little boys and girls who thought this incidence was okay because it

continually writes to the В¬editor of San Francisco Bay paper concerning the issues of the

Prior to this arrest, London was also arrested in 1894 for vagrancy spending thirty days in the

for his later writings. In 1899, London s writing career officially began. For five dollars, he

The Role of Sacred Space in Judeo-Christian Religions
The Role of Sacred Space in Judeo Christian Religions
Certain physical locations take on important meanings in the world s religions. Religions consider
various geographic elements such as different cities, regions, mountains, and rivers to be sacred.
For example, Hindus travel to the Ganges River to cleanse themselves from their sins (Momen
157). One of the requirements of all Muslims is that they make a pilgrimage to the holy city of
Mecca (Eastman 398). Judeo Christian religions also have certain places that are held sacred to
their followers. The concept of sacred space is important to Judeo Christian religions, because it
helps to explain the questions of existence. Sacred space provides something tangible to represent ...

With the current knowledge of humans, these matters cannot be adequately explained. Furthermore,
these ideas cannot be expressed with current human language (Barbour 90). To compensate for the
inability to explain the unexplainable and the lack of sufficient answers to life s questions, Judeo
Christian religions tend to employ tangible phenomena as much as possible. The concept of sacred
space is important to religions, because it offers a tangible representation of the religion for its
believers. This can help to humanize the supernatural and the concept of spirituality. Sacred space
helps to provide a structure for religions, as it closes the gaps of understanding of concepts that are
difficult to grasp with human understanding.
Judeo Christian religions employ the concept of location as a storytelling tool. Stories help to
explain intangible concepts, and the use of specific places in biblical stories helps to concretize
these concepts. In the story of Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden is described as a beautiful
place. In the center of the garden are the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and
Evil (Gen. 2.8 3.24 NAB). This story utilizes tangible elements to represent deeper meanings. The
Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil symbolizes the Lord s omnipotence. When Eve eats from this
tree, it represents humanity s sinful desire to be like God. In the New Testament, the story

Credit Card And Credit Cards
Being invited by the president of Joliet Junior College to help students who are being lured by
credit predators on the myth that getting a credit card helps people to build their credits. We will
use this opportunity to educate the audience on the concept of credit cards and its responsible use

rationale behind building good credit through borrowing. According to Tim Chen, the author of
American Household Credit Card Debt, an article published in the year 2015, the average student

which have increased 5.9% from last year. In this paper, we will discuss the myth of how
students are being lured by credit card predators by assuming that getting a credit card helps
people build their credits. We will also use this opportunity to define the concept of credit card and
its responsible use in order to avoid its snares. Furthermore, alert the audience of other ways to build

So when a teenager acts out in apathetic defiance saying I don t care about my grades, and I m not
fixing them because school sucks their brains are processing the future actions they can take to fix
their grades next term instead of dwelling on what their current grades are. While their parents
brains are processing this information on a much higher thinking level, taking their person
experiences, guilt for not pushing their child harder, and feeling bad for their child and their poor
grades into account. However the parent s perspective on this issue can come across as overbearing,
causing the teen to resort to an even more apathetic defiance, thus making the situation worse.
Another example of this is with apathy as a pretense. For example when people use apathy to push
their feelings away. Instead of communicating, sometimes people choose to resort to not
communicating because they just don t care anymore and they don t want to make the situation
worse. However in doing so, the lack of communication makes things more complicated, leading to
even more chaos and arguments then there were in the first place, making it harder and harder to
care as things get more complicated. Now if you mix this in with the different opinions your brains

We tend to think that whether one ought to be retained in a particular job position depends on
whether they are qualified for the job, rather than whether they are a generally decent person.
Suggesting that Tiger, Kobe, Magic, or Jordan should not be allowed to pursue their profession
in virtue of their personal indiscretions would amount to a unique kind of discrimination. From
the standpoint of employment qualifications, one s sexual behavior is usually an irrelevant
consideration. This brings us to the second consideration concerning punishment in one s
professional life based on actions in one s personal life. We tend to think that there is an
important separation between one s public life and one s private affairs. When one is a celebrity
like Tiger Woods, this line is blurred considerably, and one might claim that the loss of this
distinction is the price one pays for fame. However, this imposes an arbitrary constraint on a
person s individual freedoms. If one has a right to the maintenance of a public and a private sphere,
the fact that a person is famous is not obviously a reason for violating this right.
THE COMPANIES THAT DROPPED TIGER WOODS The second ethical question raised by
the Tiger Woods affair scandal concerns whether it is ethical to break a professional contract

Janice Mirikitani Suicide Note
The poem, Suicide Note by Janice Mirikitani is very similar to the song, Jumper by Third Eye
Blind but differentiates in many ways, also. These two pieces of work are very much similar in
the way their themes are expressed through the use of imagery and symbolism to help tell their
story about suicide and how it has affected them. The two pieces also differentiate when it comes
to who is actually narrating the story and the tone of voice being used. There is a lot of
relationship between the themes of the poem, Suicide Note and the song, Jumper . Both of these
works seem to correlate with the overall theme of suicide. The poem, Suicide Note , reflects on the
tragedy of certain cultures where women are so degraded and devalued that they

Media And Journalism Ethics By Bill Kovach And Tom Rosensteil
Serving the public s interest has always been an objective for the media. The ethic codes emphasize
that journalists serve the public and that that they are dedicated to truth and fairness. (Foreman
2010 P.25) This has been adopted by journalism organizations within this nation.
Distasteful content is an ethical dilemma for the press, it is a difficult issue what is acceptable to
one person may not be acceptable to another. As well as this newspapers and commercial television
are under a great amount of pressure to deliver quality news that stands out from their competitors,
this can have an impact on the material that they decide to use.
Journalists, Bill Kovach and Tom Rosensteil s were guided by these beliefs and formed a
definition of journalisms primary purpose which is to provide citizens with the information they
need to be free and self governing. (Foreman 2010 p.25)
In his book Media and Journalism Ethics S.P. Phadke has stated that journalists are the formulators
and disseminators of news they have a great responsibility both morally and pragmatically. As it is
through them that citizen s view the world, and they set the agenda for social concern and debate.
(Phadke 2008)
In their book The Elements of Journalism Kovach and Rosensteil highlight this point The news
media help us to define our communities and help us create a common language and common
knowledge rooted in reality. Journalism also helps identify a community s goals, heroes and villains.

My Dream Future
I like the dreams of the future, better than the history of the past Thomas Jefferson quoted. This
relates to my life in many ways. My dreams of the future help me to keep my eye on the prize and
to never give up while working towards my dreams. My past is history, as Thomas Jefferson said,
but as I have learned, I can choose to learn from my past and move on, or can let it be my present
or futureagain. Even though I would like to go back and change my past, I know that my
hardship have made me determined, passionate and caring. In the past I was taught by nature to
be determined. One day I had to be determined to find my next meal, while other days I needed to
be strong willed so that I had clothes on my back. This was because my birth motherwas a drug
addict and an alcoholic. Even though I was only two years old, I had to cook, and take care of
myself and my brother. I was determined to live and carry on to my greatest ability. Never in my
life would I have though that I could come this far. I have had many set backs, which made me
feel like life was not worth a thing. I was an extremely angry person and life was hard for me. I
remember as a kid I would be very violent and mean towards the ones I loved and even myself. It
never occurred to me that I just wanted someone to love and support me through tough times.
Besides my past being hard, I felt that I would never be like my birth parents. I wanted to be more

Why I Want to Study Medicine
The sun exploded into a million shades of orange. I sat, friends at each side, atop a monstrous pile
of boulders. I looked over the vastness of Joshua Tree National Park, and saw a glimpse of myself.
Love filled my soul; love of people, love of family. The backcountry has always helped me find
this love; it has been my personal northstar, shepherding me toward research and medicine. I started
backpacking at 13, trekking across the winter harsh lands of Idaho and Montana. It was difficult,
but despite this, a feeling welled within me that pushed me forward. This feeling warmed my
numb fingers and soothed the ache in my thighs. It drew me close to my friends, fostering the
teamwork required. Each new trip allowed me moments of introspection. The teamwork led to
trust, trust led to caring, caring led to empathy; eventually I understood the satisfaction of helping
others. This is how the backcountry shaped me. Over the next year many choices I made would
be based on these lessons. When I was in high school, I had no inkling of where I was going, but I
tested the waters. I volunteered at the Mrs. Tewillegar Wildlife Foundation and did a rotation
observing anesthesiologists in San Francisco. I was a green advocate and spent much of my time
reading about and debating the travesties visited upon the environment.
In my young explorations I found that medicine and environmental politics peaked my interest. In
my first semester at Pitzer College, I started to study

The Native American Indian Movement
In today s day and age, equality, freedom, and rights for all are topics that are constantly being
brought up in politics and everyday life. However, these are not new ideas. In fact, throughout
history, people have been fighting for their freedom, equality, rights, and fighting against the
degeneration their cultures and beliefs. In the case of the Native Americans, they were abused and
exploited for millennia only to benefit people of higher power. Similar to other oppressed groups,
there became a time when the American Indians began to stand for who they are and commenced
fighting for the demolition of injustice. Because of the increasing need for a voice, members of the
Native American communities band together to create the American Indian Movement(AIM).
The initiation of AIM lead to a spur of American Indian non violent protests, which began the
fundamental transformation of society. The American Indian Movement was formally founded in
July 1968. However the group existed unnamed for 500 years prior to the founding. In 1999, 30
years after their creation, the group published a paper discussing the history of AIM and the
methods behind their cause. The movement was founded to turn the attention of Indian people
toward a renewal of spirituality which would impart the strength of resolve needed to reverse the
ruinous policies of the United States, Canada, and other colonialist governments of Central and
South America. For the group, spirituality and native

At a minimum, there are five keys to a productive team: positive interdependent, individual
accountability, promotive interaction, appropriate usage of social skills and group processing
(Kozlowski Ilgen, 2006).
Positive interdependence is achieved when members of the team rely on each other to complete the
task. They realize that their individual success is inherently tied with that of their other team
members and with the winner of the team as a whole. Group members focus on two objectives to
achieve positive interdependence: maximizing their own productivity and working to maximize the
productivity of all other group members (Javith,2013).
Individual accountability means that each team member is held responsible for his or her contri

Somehow this western pastime has integrated and almost taken control of the Asian and American

individuals in such drastic ways. Within the last few years we have seen an immense outburst of
gamblingin Macau, which is now the gambling capital of the world. Along with the recent
outburst of gambling in Macau we find the dark side of gambling. The illegal activities that

Singularly Perturbed Problem Essay
section{Parameter Uniform} In the context of singularly perturbed problems posed on non
rectangular domains, the finite element method is a natural choice for many researchers (e.g.
cite{118}). However, in the context of singularly perturbed convection diffusion problems, it is
difficult to construct monotone methods on highly anisotropic meshes, which are desirable when
thin layers are present. Moreover, energy norms or other norms based on the $L^2 $norm, are the
natural norms associated with variational methods. Error analysis in the pointwise norm is not
straightforward in a finite element framework, especially when one is dealing with a problem that
is not self adjoint. Given that their interest lies in parameter uniform numerical... Show more content

The presence of a convective term means that the data of the problem across the entire domain has
an influence on the outflow boundary layer, in contrast to reaction diffusion problems where it is
only the data local to a boundary that has an influence on the boundary layer. Hegarty and O
Riordan cite{115} constructed a parameter uniform numerical methods for the singularly perturbed
problem posed on a circular domain. Asymptotic expansions for the solutions to such a problem
have been established in cite{120,121,122,123}. Analytical expressions for the exact solution, in
the case of constant data, are given in cite{123} as a Fourier series with coefficients written in
terms of modified Bessel functions. In cite{120,121,122} sufficient compatibility conditions are
identified so that the accuracy of the asymptotic expansion can be estimated in the $L^2 $norm or
in a suitably weighted energy norm. These expansions are derived without recourse to a maximum
principle. The smooth case, where significant compatibility is assumed, is examined in cite{120};
the non compatible case with a polynomial source term is studied in cite{125} and for a more
general source term in cite{122}. Based on these asymptotic expansions, a numerical method is
constructed in cite{124} for the problem, which uses a quasi uniform mesh (which is, hence, not
layer adapted). By enriching the finite element subspace, with certain exponential boundary layer

International Financial Reporting Standards
Abercrombie Fitch uses generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as the basis for the
production of its financial statements. In contrast, Hennes Mauritz (H M) uses international
financial report standards (IFRS). H M also utilizes Swedish GAAP. For its annual report, there is

note what auditing standards it uses in its annual report. By contrast, the ANF Form 10 K notes that

How Did American Race Relations Affect The Civil Rights...
The Civil Rights Movement grew momentum during the 1960s. As America became an Affluent
Society , the nation became more responsible for projecting a positive image of freedom an
abstract idea that failed to be a reality to all. WWII disrupted the social construct and implications
that come with racebecause blacks felt that they were entitled to the same rights as their fellow
whites. Nonetheless, people of color, particularly African Americans, continued to face the
injustices and inequalities they ve been burdened with since the beginning of time. Segregation
was not only enforced by laws in the South, but also by custom in the North and West (1019).
Signs of Jim Crow proliferated, an example being in the field of education. Blacks did not have

vouchers, school choice and charter schools have been grouped into one umbrella category known
as school choice. The three types of school choice are very different yet very much the same and
each topic will be discussed in depth and analyzed with examples and opinions from other authors.

from school choice. The website also explains how in Cleveland, Florida and Milwaukee over
14,500 families have benefited from school choice programs. Making the parents more involved in
the students education as well as feeling a higher level of satisfaction from the children s
education, the programs also provides less discrimination based on economic status, or racial
background, as well as many other things.
In Depth of School Choice
One family story is found on the website, schoolchoiceinfo.org, in informational website about
the benefits of school choice. The website describes how the Beauduy family of Florida
benefited from being able to partake of the school choice program. Being able to chose to send
one child to a magnet school out side the assigned school district, has shaped the family and made
the entire family happier overall allowing the family to have saved enough money to live in a safer
neighborhood. On the other hand, the article The Price of Public School Choice, by Howe, Eisenhart
and Betebenner, discusses the drawbacks of school choice. The authors explain how the schools
with more resources will gain too many students, leaving the students that cannot choose or do not
wish to, behind in the bad schools.

Memories Of My Life
My childhood is full of many fond memories. When I think back to some of the earliest times, I
can only remember tiny sparks and flickers of certain moments. However, at a certain age, I
began to more vividly remember events in my life. The first family vacation I can fully recall was a
trip my family took to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. When I found out about the trip it was
Christmas morning. My brother and I each got an envelope, which encased tickets to Disney
World. I was ecstatic to go to Disney World because it was a childhood dream come true for me!
When the day of the trip arrived, we stuffed all of our luggage into the back of our minivan and
began our trip to the airport in Charlottesville, Virginia. We waited three long hours for our flight
to leave Charlotteville, but we finally got onto the plane. I had a feeling of butterflies in my
stomach as I waited for the plane to take off. I sat next to my dad, and he held my hand to take
away the nerves. From above the clouds, everything looked miniature, and I remember feeling
like a giant. We flew from Charlottesville, Virginia to Charlotte, North Carolina. At the airport in
Charlotte, our flight to Orlando was delayed. We waited an eternity, and I wasn t surprised to
find that it was dark outside when we boarded our plane. We flew through a small city in Georgia,
and all of the lights resembled a cluster of glowing stars. We reached Orlando, Florida around

Manic Depression And The Gemini Disorder
Jessica Gulino Professor Boms BIO 1 November, 2016 Manic depression, or The Gemini
disorder is most commonly known as Bipolar Disorder. This illness is a brain disorder, which
causes abrupt and unusual mood shifts. These irritable mood shifts can be related to the
individual s energy, activity levels, or their ability to carry out daily tasks. This disorder goes
beyond the ordinary mood swings we all are aware of. Manic depression has four forms that are
characterized as periods of acute elevation of elatedness, or irritability. More often than not, the
symptoms begin as an adolescent, though, they can also occur as a young child or even middle
age. These forms of bipolar disorder are diagnosed in more than three million people a year, and
are linked to their genetic material. People who have Bipolar Disorder fluctuate between two
abnormal mood states. Mania is accompanied by euphoria or excitation, whereas depression is
associated with decreased motivation and energy levels. Psychosis can occur with either state
and leads to a seventeen percent chance of the person attempting to commit suicide in their
lifetime. There are three types of bipolar disorders, type 1, type 2, and Cyclothymia. Bipolar I is
characterized by one or more manic episodes or mixed episodes. Typically a person who has this
type will experience periods of depression and is marked by extreme manic episodes. Bipolar II
disorder is diagnosed after more than one major depressive episode and a minimum of

He continued, Participating in a social events or visiting a home requires conservative dress
codes. Do not shake hands with ladies. Always pick things up and eat with your right hand. Take
only as much as you can eat, do not leave anything uneaten over the dish. Do not point your
finger at any person. It is taken as a sign of annoyance. Be careful of cultural and social
sensitivities of the regions. Never buy food from roadside stalls or mobile canteens. Your system
may not be accustomed to such delicacies and you might end up spending more time in the loo than

(kwintessential ).He went on and on, and by the time we reached our hotel my head was spinning.
The following day, we met with the director of the mission who briefed us on the area and handed
out a sheet labeled Geert Hofstede Cultural Dimensions. This was a much more formal run down
of the cultural norms and taxonomies of India. He also went over some guidelines for expected

Socrates And Machiavelli
Socrates and Machiavelli are both very influential philosophers and two of the great minds of their
time. However, both of these men had their own separate ideas that did not completely agree with
one another. Machiavelli was born into a Renaissance time period of fragmented politics, lots of
bloodshed, and angry citizens while Socratesgrew up in a time of political adjustment and instability
in Athens. Machiavelli constructed The Princeas a political pamphlet to his friend Lorenzo de
Medici on how a prince would successfully rule his land or kingdom most effectively. This guide
consisted of ideas that involved cheating and lying to keep people happy and asserting dominance
over others. The Greek philosopher Socrates, on the other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He states ...the difficulties of maintaining hereditary states accustomed to a reigning family is
far less than in new monarchies... (Machiavelli, 5). Socrates may not oppose this first idea, but
this sets up the rest of the book s intentions which are how to rule most effectively, which
Socrates may find very wrong. Machiavelli next goes into detail in The Prince on how this new
leader should lead the people of his kingdom. He then tells a story about someone who was
handed land and did everything correctly in his eyes but got very unlucky (Machiavelli, 1950).
This person is Cesare Borgia, Duke of Valentinois. He was given territory by his father, Pope
Alexander VI. He became a vicious ruler, one that Machiavelli extremely admired and claimed
to have had ruled perfectly. Machiavelli admired how Borgia came into power and instantly
took out any allies/armies he had a lack of trust with. Next, Borgia ...appointed Messer Remirro
de Orco, a cruel and able man, to whom he gave the fullest authority (Machiavelli, 27). This man
was hired to keep control of the area and have everyone feel threatened so they wouldn t be
disobedient. But once Borgia found out this threatening figure running the land was causing
people to dislike him as a leader, Borgia decided to cut Messer Remirro de Orco in half and
display his body in the center of town. After displaying his body to the town, it ...caused the people

The Salary Payments Should Be Paid Essay
This is a screenshot showing the number of hours if an individual worked and how long their break
would be.
Holidays
Moreover, the part time officers will receive the same number of public holidays as the full time
officer. Although, the hours and pay for each will be made on a pro data basis to hours normally
worked. The part time regulations also introduce for those workers free days; these are days when
an officer is not on normal duty day, rest day or public holiday. The free day should be clearly
identified on the shift pattern workings to ensure that payments are made correctly.
Temporary Salary payments will be made to officers working on a part time and job share basis
where they work the equivalent of the 14 day qualifying period by completing full shifts totalling
112 hours.
Pension Rights
Pension Implications Officers should seek advice on individual pension implications from the
Force Pensions Administrator.
Normal Pension Age for police officers will increase to age 60, compared to a Normal Pension
Age for most public servants linked to state pension age (planned to rise in stages to 68).
Moreover, there will be protection for those who close to retirement. This will depend on their age
and service as an officer.
However, there will also be protection for those officers closest to retirement, who will be entitled
to remain in their current police pension scheme beyond 2015. This will depend on the age and
length of service of each officer.

Bill Nye Speech
Bill Bill Bill Bill Bill Nye the science guy! Haha, that might ve been a little corny. Mr. Nye, I
hope you find the time to read this, I used to be a huge fan of yours in elementary school.
However, I lost contact with you after entering middle school. I m 20 years old now, and just
about 2 years ago I somehow stumbled upon your name on one of the greatest websites ever, the
almighty YouTube. I was instantly hooked to you and your videos on there. I found you because
of my recently acquired passion for evolutionary biology and environmental physics in college.
Honestly, I also have to give a lot of credit to the Cosmos: A Spacetime Oddessy (where is season 2
at?!) and Interstellar. They both contributed to my curiosity about the universe and... Show more

Having grown up in the Bible Belt of Georgia, I was taught about Christianity from birth. I
prayed at least once every day for a good bit of my teenage life. So as you could probably already
tell.. Having to go through such a transformation was hard and quite the obstacle to overcome in
my life. In the end though, it was all worth it. Your book, Undeniable: Evolution The Scienceof
Creation, was the icing on the cake to my transformation. The book is absolutely amazing at
least. So I pay much homage to you and your idea to get back on the map about science by
reaching out to today s society and my generation, the one that grew up watching your videos in
grade school. It s working. We need to know and understand how science works as a country, hell
maybe even as a world eventually. That would be a truly beautiful site, barring it wasn t out of
our lifetimes. But back to my point, progress in this country isn t going to happen without the
basic fundamental knowledge about life, evolution. You ve made it obviously clear to me, through
your videos and book, that it is very real. It is happening all around us on this earth, and has for

Audience Response to Macbeth
The human condition has been explored throughout time and its study has primarily allowed us
to learn from our past and develop as people. The Elizabethan era is very different from the
world today as our values and beliefs have changed to suit our level of knowledge and intelligence.
These differences become clear when exploring an audience s response to William Shakespeare s
Macbeth, from the Elizabethan era and today. The text was written in 1606 and was set in
Scotland. The tragedy construes what egotistical ambition can do to the mind. Key themes of
loyalty and betrayal, the increase in intelligence of humans, the way laws govern society and the
balance in power between genders affect an audience s response to Macbeth. Specifically... Show

And most of us can understand why magic and witchcraft is a myth due to education and science
that can explain things like bad weather through Earth rotation, pressure, temperature, etcetera. So
responses from today s era towards the witches would be that of amusement through the language
used, Eye of newt, and toe of frog, Wool of bat, and tongue of dog... As time passes, humans
evolve which allows a difference to appear from responses to the witches from the 16th century and
now.
Lady Macbeth s role of manipulating Macbeth and encouraging him to kill Duncan invites the
audience to make an assessment on her character as to whether they should feel empathy or
outcast her as a psychotic, control freak. Elizabethan people lacked understanding of the meaning
of murder and couldn t comprehend that those guilty were not always the one who committed the
crime. An audience from today can generally accept that even though Macbeth killed Duncan and
the guards, Lady Macbeth is guilty too because she was an accessory. Elizabethan audience would
not be able to deduce this meaning their reaction wouldn t be as extreme. However, many
Elizabethan men responded slightly disgusted and shocked because of the way Lady Macbeth
dominated her husband. The text would draw this type of a reaction because it was considered a
part of culture, that women were considered a lesser

Greyhound Research Paper
Woof, Woof, Woof! In the middle of a ideally hot afternoon people gather around for an incredible
race. These dogs on their way in the back of the truck to start the race are known as Italian
Greyhounds. Only the fastest will win as they cross the finish line barking at the raccoon hanging
from the tree. Italian Greyhounds are awesome animals due to their history, life cycle, housing,
nutrition, and the benefits of Greyhounds. Greyhounds have been migrated to America in the most
amazing ways. The Greyhoundspecies first started about two thousand years ago in the
Mediterranean, Greece, and Turkey. Italian Greyhounds were bred for small games, hunting, and
companionship. As the years passed, miniature Greyhounds were all over Southeastern Europe.
About the 1600 Greyhounds appeared in England. Then by 1820 the Greyhounds only had two
breeds named in the dogbook. During World War II, the popularity of Greyhounds decreased. As the
number decreased, the Greyhounds still had hope. In the nineteenth century high quality
Greyhounds were introduced to the United States. In interesting fact the Greyhounds were bred to
restore Europe after World War II. Greyhounds had travelled all over the world on their voyage to
the United States. Italian Greyhounds have been bred all over the world. Greyhounds start out as a

I continue to sip on my leaf water out of my nice cat mug; the one with a cat and under it the word Catffeinated on it. Then Stephaniey, the daughter of the biggest man in the city, comes over. William Shakespeare s We Didn t Start The Fire Patrick Baker Mrs. Conn Honors English II 24 November 2015 Shakespeare s thoughts on Modern Culture To aide in this paper, I have chosen the song We didn t start the Fire, by Billy Joel to help provide modern events that William Shakespeare s works can relate to. Shakespeare s plethora of works provide information about his thoughts on society during his life. Many events and topics that are seen in modern culture are relatable to events that occurred during Shakespeare s life, such as government, assassinations, and controversies. Shakespeare s characters from his many plays reflect his thoughts and provide an instant ability to connect modern culture back through Shakespeare s writing. Government in England during the time of Shakespeare s life consisted of a Monarchy. In the United States the governmental system used is a Representative Democracy (Kurtus). Shakespeare in his life had a strong view on government, Fit to be govern? You re not fit to live, (Macbeth) Shakespeare writes this as Macduff frets over the future of Scotland with Macbeth in command. Shakespeare writes these lines talking about Macbeth, but the lines send a message about Shakespeare s thoughts on government. Shakespeare s opinions would still be strong today, with corrupt political systems, the United States needs a man such as William Shakespeare to bring attention through literature to the ruins of our nation s political system. Literature has been a crucial part in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ischemic Stroke Case Study Paper Case Study: Patient with Ischemic Stroke Mrs. Alice Palmer is a 54 year old married woman who has been admitted and is being treated with an ischemic stroke which she had 18 hours ago. This paper explores the nursing care of Mrs. Alice Palmer based on the clinical reasoning cycle by considering her situation first, collecting cues and information about her, processing the information gathered, then identifying problems or issues she is experiencing, and finally carrying out a detailed assessment. Also, the paper focuses on setting goals and establishing a nursing care plan in the community, and target ethnically safe practice. Ischemic stroke occurs when the brain tissue does not receive sufficient oxygenated blood due to an obstruction of the carotid artery (Brunner, Suddarth, Smeltzer, 2008). • 5. Decentralized Organizations And Its Impact On... While organizations once typically held centralized structures, the more recent trend is toward decentralization. Centralization is the extent that and organization s decision making is made at a single point or by a single person. In centralized organizations, top managers make all of the decisions, while lower level managers and employees follow their instructions. In decentralized organizations, decision making is delegated to work groups or the managers who are closest to the organization s day to day actions. Centralization affects employee/manager relationships by providing a more stable environment and clarity regarding whom to go to for directions, while decentralizationallows employees to feel less isolated from decision makers and have more autonomy. In terms of its impact on organizational strategies, decentralization allows for problems to be solved more quickly by those who have more direct knowledge about the specific customer base, while centralization lets companies avoid bad choices and maintain a stable environment. Centralization affects employee/manager relationships by providing clarity about the relationship. Because it is so structured, it provides a more stable environment with a clear hierarchy. As a result, centralization provides an unambiguous relationship between managers and their employees. In centralized organizations, there is no confusion about who to report to or whose instructions to follow. Simple structures, bureaucracies, and virtual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Have you ever heard of six flags, it is a water park that has all type of slides, roller coasters and more? Well six flags are one of the field trips that I would want to go to. Many teachers argue that the field trips are not educational, but I argue that six flags has many educational things. Ranging from classroom sessions and swimming in water with dolphins to learning about and actually sleeping with the sharks, these programs are designed to allow individualized or group learning opportunities. Also it is a great place to have fun with your friends and family. There is also a very cool slide that they made this year. It is called the King Cobra, how does that sound. To begin, six flags is very educational because students will be put to the test with hands on learning to master the math and science of our coasters. Following the assemblies, students are able to participate in four special park activities and prizes. Alain De Botton s The Art of Travel reflects on the impact of different landscapes that lead to the ultimate search for happiness while questioning the psychological effect of this pursuit. Peter Weir s Picnic at Hanging Rock is based on the disappearance of three school girls in a mysterious manner, leaving the audience questioning humanbehaviour in relation to the environment they are in. Egypt lent support to ideas and values that were part of his identity but for which his own society had little sympathy. This quote from Motives: On the Exotic, suggests that different landscapes allow individuals to pursue their desires that may not be accepted in their culture. Freedom from the pressures of society allow their real ideology and identity to be seen in landscapes that support the views and values of this individual as seen by Gustave Flaubert in Egypt. Picnic at Hanging Rock explores external forces that impact on the actions of the young women that contradict their upbringing and place in society. As they interact with the environment, they lose the values of their school which opposes their class and social stigma. The environment is represented as being wild and untamed, and as the sophisticated young women enter this environment, they lose their innocence and an air of sexuality engulfs the young women. There is a conflict in the portrayal of repressed and expressed sexuality behaviour as well as the complete opposite, such as the headmistress who tends to deny any sort of sexual forces and the young girls who seem to yearn to act on these desires. • 9. Ancient Stories Of The Sumerians The Sumerians Although, we widely attribute the ancient stories of the Sumerians to pure mythology, they went to great lengths to understand and create a way to record their history, society structure, and development; just as we do for historical events today. The most accepted view on what makes a culture civilized or having obtained civilization is a culture which has attained a degree of complexity, usually characterized by urban life (Guisepi). As far as the Sumerian culture is concerned, they created our foundation for what we consider today, as the standards for civilization. Even though human exploration and discoveries continue to uncover previously unknown chapters of our story here on earth, the extensive amount of archeological evidence we have for the Sumerians and time frame, allow us to accredit them for over 100 firsts for the human civilization from their ingenuities, accomplishments, and inventions. Many of which we can still see in use, in some form, in our modern society today. According to Samuel Kramer, For those not familiar with this remarkable, resourceful and intelligent people, who not only invented writing but also established the true mythological foundations of all main religions of the world, simply put, they taught us almost everything . Though purchased as a slave, her life was far from most African Americans during the 17th century. She was educated and became deeply rooted in her faith: Christianity. From an outsider, her life may be viewed as an adopted child rather than a slave to the Wheatley family. However, she did not forget where she came from or those less fortunate than herself. The phrase transient sweetness may refer to the short duration of wealth and prosperity on Earth in contrast to the endless pain one might experience in hell for their ill actions. She urges the students to shun baneful evil to the soul which she most likely associates with slavery. Slavery is not only immoral behavior; it literally causes pain and destruction to individuals. She uses the phrase human race divine as well as the words pupil and privileged to describe the students superiority in society (27). This is important, why does she choose to enlighten the most intelligent group of individuals, many of whom may practice slavery? Perhaps, she chose this particular audience to convey her message because they would have the greatest ability; intelligence, to see the error of slavery and have the status to put an end to it. Some of the studies on this topic are Demirguc Kunt and Levine (1995), Levine and Zervos (1993, 1995, 1998) etc. In theory well developed stock market should enduce saving and efficiently allocate capital to productive investments which would later lead to increase in the rate of real output. Stock markets contribute to accumulation of domestic savings by enhancing the scope of financial instruments available to savers and investors trough diversification of their portfolios. Dailami and Aktin (1990) think stock markets provide important source of capital investment at low cost which should serve as an obvious benefit for the economy in general. In developed economies with developed stock markets share ownership provides individuals with probably the most liquid means of sharing the risks and benefits of investing in promising projects. The main advantage of liquid stock market is that it provides investors to cope with liquididy risk by allowing participants hit by illiquidity constraints to sell their stakes to othe participants who at the time do not suffer form the same problem. For example, in The Lottery , there is a lottery drawn every year for a good crop season. During this tradition, one person from the community is stoned to death as a sacrifice. Why don t people question traditions like this? People who grow up in certain communities do things a little different than their neighboring towns, because it is what they have known their entire life. To them, it is normal . Consistency is like a drug due to the fact that people do not always adapt well. People often fixate on repeated circumstances and the outcome can be detrimental. Religions consider various geographic elements such as different cities, regions, mountains, and rivers to be sacred. For example, Hindus travel to the Ganges River to cleanse themselves from their sins (Momen 157). One of the requirements of all Muslims is that they make a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca (Eastman 398). To compensate for the inability to explain the unexplainable and the lack of sufficient answers to life s questions, Judeo Christian religions tend to employ tangible phenomena as much as possible. The concept of sacred space is important to religions, because it offers a tangible representation of the religion for its believers. This can help to humanize the supernatural and the concept of spirituality. Sacred space helps to provide a structure for religions, as it closes the gaps of understanding of concepts that are difficult to grasp with human understanding. Judeo Christian religions employ the concept of location as a storytelling tool. Stories help to explain intangible concepts, and the use of specific places in biblical stories helps to concretize these concepts. In the story of Adam and Eve, the Garden of Eden is described as a beautiful place. In the center of the garden are the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil (Gen. 2.8 3.24 NAB). From the standpoint of employment qualifications, one s sexual behavior is usually an irrelevant consideration. These two pieces of work are very much similar in the way their themes are expressed through the use of imagery and symbolism to help tell their story about suicide and how it has affected them. The two pieces also differentiate when it comes to who is actually narrating the story and the tone of voice being used. There is a lot of relationship between the themes of the poem, Suicide Note and the song, Jumper . Both of these works seem to correlate with the overall theme of suicide. • 22. Media And Journalism Ethics By Bill Kovach And Tom Rosensteil Serving the public s interest has always been an objective for the media. The ethic codes emphasize that journalists serve the public and that that they are dedicated to truth and fairness. (Foreman 2010 P.25) This has been adopted by journalism organizations within this nation. Distasteful content is an ethical dilemma for the press, it is a difficult issue what is acceptable to one person may not be acceptable to another. As well as this newspapers and commercial television are under a great amount of pressure to deliver quality news that stands out from their competitors, this can have an impact on the material that they decide to use. Journalists, Bill Kovach and Tom Rosensteil s were guided by these beliefs and formed a definition of journalisms primary purpose which is to provide citizens with the information they need to be free and self governing. (Foreman 2010 p.25) In his book Media and Journalism Ethics S.P. Phadke has stated that journalists are the formulators and disseminators of news they have a great responsibility both morally and pragmatically. As it is through them that citizen s view the world, and they set the agenda for social concern and debate. My past is history, as Thomas Jefferson said, but as I have learned, I can choose to learn from my past and move on, or can let it be my present or futureagain. Even though I would like to go back and change my past, I know that my hardship have made me determined, passionate and caring. In the past I was taught by nature to be determined. One day I had to be determined to find my next meal, while other days I needed to be strong willed so that I had clothes on my back. This was because my birth motherwas a drug addict and an alcoholic. Even though I was only two years old, I had to cook, and take care of myself and my brother. • 25. Why I Want to Study Medicine The sun exploded into a million shades of orange. I sat, friends at each side, atop a monstrous pile of boulders. I looked over the vastness of Joshua Tree National Park, and saw a glimpse of myself. Love filled my soul; love of people, love of family. The backcountry has always helped me find this love; it has been my personal northstar, shepherding me toward research and medicine. I started backpacking at 13, trekking across the winter harsh lands of Idaho and Montana. It was difficult, but despite this, a feeling welled within me that pushed me forward. This feeling warmed my numb fingers and soothed the ache in my thighs. It drew me close to my friends, fostering the teamwork required. Each new trip allowed me moments of introspection. The teamwork led to trust, trust led to caring, caring led to empathy; eventually I understood the satisfaction of helping others. This is how the backcountry shaped me. Over the next year many choices I made would be based on these lessons. When I was in high school, I had no inkling of where I was going, but I tested the waters. I volunteered at the Mrs. Tewillegar Wildlife Foundation and did a rotation observing anesthesiologists in San Francisco. In the case of the Native Americans, they were abused and exploited for millennia only to benefit people of higher power. Similar to other oppressed groups, there became a time when the American Indians began to stand for who they are and commenced fighting for the demolition of injustice. Because of the increasing need for a voice, members of the Native American communities band together to create the American Indian Movement(AIM). Singularly Perturbed Problem Essay section{Parameter Uniform} In the context of singularly perturbed problems posed on non rectangular domains, the finite element method is a natural choice for many researchers (e.g. cite{118}). However, in the context of singularly perturbed convection diffusion problems, it is difficult to construct monotone methods on highly anisotropic meshes, which are desirable when thin layers are present. Moreover, energy norms or other norms based on the $L^2 $norm, are the natural norms associated with variational methods. Error analysis in the pointwise norm is not straightforward in a finite element framework, especially when one is dealing with a problem that is not self adjoint. Given that their interest lies in parameter uniform numerical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The presence of a convective term means that the data of the problem across the entire domain has an influence on the outflow boundary layer, in contrast to reaction diffusion problems where it is only the data local to a boundary that has an influence on the boundary layer. Hegarty and O Riordan cite{115} constructed a parameter uniform numerical methods for the singularly perturbed problem posed on a circular domain. Asymptotic expansions for the solutions to such a problem have been established in cite{120,121,122,123}. Analytical expressions for the exact solution, in the case of constant data, are given in cite{123} as a Fourier series with coefficients written in terms of modified Bessel functions. In cite{120,121,122} sufficient compatibility conditions are identified so that the accuracy of the asymptotic expansion can be estimated in the $L^2 $norm or in a suitably weighted energy norm. These expansions are derived without recourse to a maximum principle. The smooth case, where significant compatibility is assumed, is examined in cite{120}; the non compatible case with a polynomial source term is studied in cite{125} and for a more general source term in cite{122}. Based on these asymptotic expansions, a numerical method is constructed in cite{124} for the problem, which uses a quasi uniform mesh (which is, hence, not layer adapted). • 40. Manic Depression And The Gemini Disorder Jessica Gulino Professor Boms BIO 1 November, 2016 Manic depression, or The Gemini disorder is most commonly known as Bipolar Disorder. This illness is a brain disorder, which causes abrupt and unusual mood shifts. These irritable mood shifts can be related to the individual s energy, activity levels, or their ability to carry out daily tasks. This disorder goes beyond the ordinary mood swings we all are aware of. Manic depression has four forms that are characterized as periods of acute elevation of elatedness, or irritability. More often than not, the symptoms begin as an adolescent, though, they can also occur as a young child or even middle age. These forms of bipolar disorder are diagnosed in more than three million people a year, and are linked to their genetic material. People who have Bipolar Disorder fluctuate between two abnormal mood states. Mania is accompanied by euphoria or excitation, whereas depression is associated with decreased motivation and energy levels. Psychosis can occur with either state and leads to a seventeen percent chance of the person attempting to commit suicide in their lifetime. There are three types of bipolar disorders, type 1, type 2, and Cyclothymia. Bipolar I is characterized by one or more manic episodes or mixed episodes.
