High School Application Essay Sample
Crafting a high-quality essay on the topic of a "High School Application Essay Sample" can be a
challenging task that demands careful consideration and thoughtful reflection. The difficulty
arises from the need to strike a balance between showcasing one's unique qualities, experiences,
and aspirations while adhering to the specific requirements and expectations set by the high
school application process.
To begin with, the essay needs to capture the attention of the reader right from the introduction.
This requires a compelling hook that not only piques interest but also sets the tone for the entire
piece. Formulating an engaging opening statement that effectively introduces oneself and
highlights personal strengths can be a delicate balancing act.
The body of the essay should delve into relevant experiences, achievements, and challenges
faced during previous academic years. Expressing personal growth and a genuine passion for
learning while avoiding clichГ©s and generic statements adds another layer of complexity. It's
crucial to demonstrate not only academic prowess but also character, leadership, and the ability
to contribute positively to the school community.
Moreover, conveying these aspects in a concise yet comprehensive manner within the stipulated
word limit poses an additional challenge. The essay must be well-organized, with each paragraph
seamlessly transitioning into the next, creating a coherent narrative that leaves a lasting
impression.
The task is further complicated by the need to tailor the content to the specific requirements of
the high school in question. Researching the school's values, mission, and unique offerings and
then aligning personal experiences with these aspects requires thorough preparation and attention
to detail.
Editing and proofreading become crucial to ensure the essay is free of grammatical errors, typos,
and awkward phrasing. The final version should present a polished and professional image that
reflects the applicant's dedication to excellence.
In conclusion, writing a compelling essay for a high school application demands a combination
of self-awareness, creativity, and a keen understanding of the institution's values. It is a
challenging process that requires time, effort, and a thoughtful approach to effectively
communicate one's unique qualities and aspirations.
For those seeking assistance in navigating this intricate task, various resources are available,
including professional writing services. Similar essays and more tailored content can be ordered

Proposal For The Nhs Internet Connection Project
C3J Solutions would like to thank Northeastern Health Services, Inc. (NHS) for the
opportunity to submit a proposal for the NHS internet connection project. Following
is our proposal for an Internet connection that will meet the NHS business objective.
NHS is a Maine based health services company who accommodates underserved
patients in rural parts of the state. Recently, the NHS decided to expand services by
adding branch offices in towns near the Canadian border to:
В· Provide state of the art health services to patients by offering medical imaging
services with rapid diagnoses.
Northeastern Health Services plans to accomplish this by partnering with a medical
analysis unit in New York. Accordingly, large medical image files will be transmitted
between destinations via fast Internet connection. To put it briefly, the NHS is
expanding services to provide top notch health care services by partnering with
regional hospitals. But first, several obstacles must be addressed to meet the
objective; most importantly, selecting the best internet connection for the project.
Health care companies are increasingly relying on networked information systems to
share patient data and records. Therefore, choosing the correct internet access
technology is key to any company who wants to be competitive in this environment.
Fortunately for NHS, there are several internet access options available for this
project; these include DSL, cable, T1, cellular, and satellite
Feral Children Research Paper
But what if we were completely untouched by society, isolated from all forms of
humanity? Without other people to interact with and learn from, babies would grow
to be nothing more than a wild animal. Every human being is born with the potential
to develop into an intelligent, social creature, but without humaninfluence a person
can never develop into what we consider to be a member of human society. One
can clearly see this through the reports of feral children. There has been only a few
cases reported and very few studied. In cases from the past feral children are
reported as wild children who could not speak or communicate in anyway. These
children bit, scratched, growled, and walked on all fours. In addition to this
primal behavior, they ate grass, ravenously tared apart small animals and devoured
the raw meat. The most shocking quality of the children was their apparent lack of
sensitivity to pain or cold. (Henslin 66 7) The most famous case of a feral child
was The wild boy of Aveyron in 1798. At first this case would have been written off
as just another folk tale, but a French scientist, Jean Marc Gaspard Itard, conducted

The Skills Approach Analysis of Angela Merkel Essay
The skills approach focuses on the ability to use one s knowledge and competencies
to accomplish a set of goals and objectives. In terms of these competencies, the skills
approach identifies three particular competencies that are related to strong leadership
which include: technical skills, human skills, and conceptual skills. In terms of these
competencies, Angela Merkelhas demonstrated strong qualities, made influential
decisions, been elected through a public election process, and received numerous
accolades that indicate she has a high level of proficiency and effectiveness in all
three aforementioned competencies associated with the skills approach. The
leadership competency of technical skill can be defined as the knowledge about...

Related to politics, high conceptual skills involves begin about to use ideas and
policies to effectively guide a nation to future goals. Further, conceptual skills in
politics necessitate a need to be able to be able to effectively explain these ideas and
policies to other leaders and constituents. Chancellor Merkel displays high conceptual
skills, as exhibited by her current involvement in trying to alleviate the European debt
crisis. As noted in the New York Times recently, The Federal Constitutional Court in
Germany gave Chancellor Angela Merkel a significant victory on Wednesday in her
bid to master the debt crisis that has buffeted the Continent for years and endangered
its common currency, granting approval to one of the main pillars of her strategy
(Kulish). Further, Merkel possess the ability to explain her ideas effectively, which
can be show by her heavy involvement in negotiations for different debt relief plans
in this year s G8 summit (Rinke). Also, Lastly, the final competency identified by
the skills approach is human skills, which are the knowledge about, and ability to
work with people. Further, these skills help a leader to work effectively with
follower, peers, and superiors to accomplish the organizations goals (Northouse, pg

Critical Analysis Of Max Beckmann s The Large
Operation...
From the operating room to the battlefield
The two world wars in the history have been inextricably linked to Germany s
ambitions. These wars not only caused an indelible trauma in the whole world but
also left deep bitterness and lessons for the German people. At that time, however,
there was a small group of the German artist upstream, strongly against the
government s evil deeds, expressed their condemnation and discontent for the war
through their artworks, such as Max Beckmann and Otto Dix. This article will use
Max Beckmann s The Large Operation and Otto Dix s Der Krieg (The War) as
examples, to specifically discuss how these two artists changed their drawing style in
a more intense way in order to create an impressed depiction of the bloodshed and
cruelty of the war for the viewers.
In The Large Operation, Max Beckmann depicts a crowded and busy operating room
inspired by his personal experience in World War I
. Every hospital staff has different
expressions and positions, but most strikingly, is the two injured people, or can be
called dead soldiers, lying lifelessly. The artist uses different techniques here to
distinguish the alive one from the lifeless one. The drawing lines of the hospital
staffs who are in action are smooth and fresh, which reflects a busy feeling. But the
drawing lines of the lying soldiers are rigid and messy, which gives a strange sense
of death. For the faces, the artist gives every staff different characteristics and
emotions, but for

CASE 6.1 G IANT M OTOR C OMPANY T his case deals with strategic planning
issues for a large company. The main issue is planning the company s production
capacity for the coming year. At issue is the overall level of capacity and the type
of capacity for example, the degree of flexibility in the manufacturing system.
The main tool used to aid the company s planning process is a mixed integer linear
programming (MILP) model. A mixed integer program has both integer and
continuous variables. Problem Statement The Giant Motor Company (GMC)

Similarly, if the demand for Libras is 1,220,000 cars (1,100,000 original demand plus
120,000 demand diverted from Lyras), then the unsatisfied demand for Lyras
would be 420,000 if no capacity is added. Out of this unsatisfied demand, 42,000 (
420,000 0.1) will materialize as demand for Hydras. All other unsatisfied demand
is lost to competitors. The pattern of demand diversion is summarized in Table 6.18.
A quick comparison of plant capacities and demands in Table 6.16 and Table 6.17
indicates that GMC is faced with insufficient capacity. Partially offsetting the lack
of capacity is the phenomenon of demand diversion. If a potential car buyer walks
into a GMC dealer showroom wanting to buy a Lyra but the dealer is out of stock,
frequently the salesperson can convince the customer to purchase the better Libra car,
which is in stock. Unsatisfied demand for the Lyra is said to be diverted to the
Libra. Only rarely in this situation can the salesperson convince the customer to
switch to the luxury Hydra model. From past experience, GMC estimates that 30% of
unsatisfied demand for Lyras is diverted to Table 6.18 Lyra Libra Hydra Demand

Essay about Significance of Jamestown
What is the significance of Jamestown? Jamestown introduced slavery into English
speaking North America; it became the first of England s colonies to adopt a
representative government; and it was the site of the first clashes between whites and
Indians over territorial expansion. Jamestown began the tenuous, often violent,
mingling of different peoples that came to embody the American experience. Dr.

In 1585 he settled about 100 men on Roanoke Island, but they did not settle and
returned a year later. In 1587 he sent another group to settle that included a number of
women and children. A supply ship was sent to the settlers but was delayed by the
attack of the Spanish Armada on England in 1588. Help did not arrive until 1590, but
it was too late and there was no one to be found. The attack of the Spanish Armada
was spurred by King Phillip the 2nd. His motives were religious as England seemed
committed to Protestantism as well as for economic and political reasons. An
English fleet of 197 ships were able to conquer the invasion and led to Spain no
longer being able to prevent the English from settling in the New World.
The plan at this time was for English colonies to go to America to spread the
Protestant religion and expand the market for English woolens; this would bring in
valuable tax revenues. The American forests could be used for timber and naval
stores to build a bigger navy and merchant marine. Queen Elizabeth did not condone
this as she was too cautious and so settlement was not acted upon until after her
death in 1603. The new king James the 1st granted licenses for two groups of
English merchants to colonize Virginia. The first charter revealed the motives of the
king when it spoke of spreading Christianity and bringing the savages to civility
along with the rights to dig, mine and search for all matters of gold,
The Community Of The Lgbtq Community
In the twenty four hours following the election, a surge in calls to suicide hotlines
primarily from those belonging to the LGBTQ community. Trumps victory had
caused thousands to suddenly fear their own futures in this country and questioned
which of their rights they were going to lose in the next four years. This lead to
many calling suicidehotlines for confirmation that life was worth living for and that
their was always hope. Crisis lines dedicated to the LGBTQ community were
specifically the ones that were most effected. The numbers of calls they were
receiving were in the thousands, over doubling the average number of calls received
and reaching unprecedented levels. An additional concern is that this may be causing
a sudden influx trans suicides, potentially up to ten. However, none of these cases
have as of yet been confirmed, so there is a possibility that no suicides in relation to
the election have occurred. Transpeople within America have a particularly
precarious state in this country and the election seems likely to remove their rights in
the upcoming years. Regardless, the election has increased the anxieties of countless
in this country. This recent development was quite important to me as someone who
is part of the LGBTQ community. Although the election was seen as high stakes for
both Democrats and Republicans, Trump s policies will most likely have a negative
impact disproportionately on minorities, immigrants, and those who have
marginalized
The Fundamentals of Nursing Essay
Abstract
In this research paper, I plan to discuss the background of nurses, the different
professions they work, and the salaries of an LPN and Registered Nurse.
Nurses work in a variety of specialties where they work independently and as part of
a team of assess, plan, implement and evaluate care. Nursing comes in various forms
in culture, although the definition of the term and the practice of nursing has being
known as wet nurse and latter being known as dry nurse. In the 15th century, this
developed into the idea of looking after or advising another, not necessarily meaning
a woman looking after a child. Nursing has continues to developed in the latter sense,
although the idea of nourishing in the broadest sense refers ... Show more content on

LPN s on the other hand are trained in basic skills to provide client care under the
guidance of an RN or other licensed provider, for example, a physician or dentist. In
the United States these programs are 9 to 12 months in length and exist in a variety
of setting: high schools, community colleges, vocational schools, hospitals, and other
health care agencies(Delaune Ladner pg. 41).Nurse Practitioners work within the pre
operative setting(Barnett, 2005).
Little research exists on NP s role in pre op; thus, researches have begun to explore
the emerging role. The existing research indicates that NP s skills are more
important to the overall efficiency of the pre operative area NP s advanced
pediatric assessment skills allow them the ability to complete history and
physicals on surgical patients. NP s can collect, identify, and interpret complex
patient information and laboratory values, as well as provide pre op education
and psychosocial support to patient and families(Barnett, 2005). From 1999 to
2000, the Alberta government acknowledged a major RN shortage a consequence
of deep cuts to health care during the early Klein years on of every eight RN s was
laid off and left the province, most permanently. Thousand of nursing students also
left the province after graduation, there were no jobs. (Vihos,Jill, n.p.). There s still
a high demand for nurses today. Nurses earn different pay their salaries may vary by
the type of degree they hold and job duties. For
American Traditions And Qualities Of The United States
Essay
For many international students, acclimating to American society can be troublesome
and occasionally disappointing. American traditions and qualities may be altogether
different from those of your nation of origin, and you may discover them befuddling.
America s populace reflects surprising ethnic differences. Non white individuals
dwarf whites in a lesser expansive urban area. Daily papers regularly utilize such
terms as Asian American, Italian
American, and Bedouin American to mirror the ingenuity of different ethnic legacies
inside the Unified States. There are individuals whose skin is named white, dark,
cocoa, yellow and red.
There are individuals who have numerous years of formal instruction and individuals
who have about none. There are the exceptionally rich and also the extremely poor.
There are
Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Communists, Communists, Libertarians, and
disciples of other political perspectives too. There are Legal advisors, agriculturists,
handymen, instructors, social laborers, movement officers and individuals in a great
many different occupations. Some live in urban zones and some in rustic ones. Given
this differing qualities, would one be able to conveniently discuss Americans ?
Probably so, given that one is watchful.
Americans don t more often than not see themselves, when they are in the
Assembled States, as delegates of their nation. They consider themselves to be people
who are not quite the same as every

As the US become more dependent on computers, the adoption of digital patient
records, increased regulation, provider consolidation, and the increasing need for
information between patients, providers, and payers, make information security a
priority. When researching literature on information security and privacy in
healthcare, healthcare information systems are largely viewed as the single most
important factor in improving US healthcare quality and reducing related costs. In the
last ten years a lack of adequate security measures has resulted in numerous data
breaches, leaving patients exposed to economic threats, mental anguish, and possible
social stigma (Henver, 2007). A recent survey in the United States suggests that 75%
of patients are concerned about health Web sites sharing information without their
permission (Henver, 2007). Researchers, mainly in information systems, have
adapted several reference disciplines such as psychology and sociology to analyze the
role of individuals and employees in information security risk management and

Currently, all tennis balls are packaged in cylinders which hold four balls.
Although this is an innovative idea, there is a lot of wasted space in the cylinders

create a new container for tennis balls that has a comparable surface areaand wasted

This assumption was proven to be incorrect as the wasted space was calculated to be
much over 4000cm3. Another assumption made was that the square box with
rectangular prisms inside would have a considerably smaller amount of wasted
space compared to the cylinder, but a small amount of wasted space would exist. As
shown in the previous working out, there was no wasted space in the square box with
the rectangular prisms. A final assumption made in part A was the dimensions of the
cylindrical container. In part B, it was presumed that the points would be scattered
loosely around the line of best fit. After creating the scatter plot, it was understood
that the points were closely scattered around the line of best fit and a realisation that
there could be a formula to calculate the results quicker was brought into
consideration. Also, another assumption was that the amount of wasted space would
not be a significant amount. After calculating, it was notable that the wasted space
was more than half of the volume of the
Naked Economics
First and foremost, market is inherently composed of government part as a policy
maker. Some ideal economist may argue that a free market without the existence
of government will optimize the social utility and make every single person better
off. However, the model of supply and demand is just simply a model which
merely provides us with theoretic research and a murky outlook to a piece of
complicated and cruel real world. For instance, a lot of African countries are suffered
from pain of war and economic depression, stuck into the chaotic vortex and lacked
of the ability to escape away. The essence behind this phenomenon is quite
astonishing. According to a United Nationsdevelopment program s report which

Naked Economics, the patent is an interesting case which is always misunderstood.
In the United States of American, Pfizer, the patent owner of Viagra, produces the
medicine with ingredients cost only pennies while selling at the price of seven
dollar, gaining a large amount of economic profits. However, the huge gap is often
described as social injustice perpetrated by rapacious companies, but why does the
government allow this monopoly to extract exceedingly huge profits from
consumersпјџThe reason behind it is the investment and research that Pfizer did to
promote a kind of technological advancement which gave birth to the new medicine.
The large gap between ingredients cost and price can be considered as a kind of
compensation to supplement the expense of technological research which
overwhelmingly outweighs the cost of ingredients. By allowing the existence of
monopoly in terms of patent, the government means to stimulate the incentive to be
competitive and creative among all sorts of companies. Admittedly, even though it

Analysis Of Orphan Train
The book Orphan Train written by Christina Baker Kline gives the reader a
detailed look into the lives of both Vivian and Molly, and how their stories
compare and contrast. Molly, a young goth teenage girl who is orphaned at young
age due to the death of her father, is introduced as a delinquent of sorts that has to
make up for a book she has stolen from the library. Her boyfriend, Jack, finds a
volunteering opportunity for her through his mother; the job requires Molly to sort
through and get rid of mementos that belong to an old woman named Vivian. As
Vivian and Molly organize the mementos, Vivian informs Molly that she too is an
orphan, and explains the stories behind each item they encounter. As the story
progresses, Molly learns more and more about Vivian s life, and becomes infatuated
with her anecdotes. Vivian tells of how her parents and sister supposably died, how
she had to board and Orphan Trainand was sent to various families. Vivian describes
in detail what problems she faced as an orphan, the people she met, and how it
shaped her as a person. Despite initially being reluctant to help Vivian, Molly comes
to realize that her life story is fascinating, and helps Vivian research the people that
came up in her story. The characters in the Orphan Train, especially in the families
that Vivian is forced to live with, all seem to present varying different personalities
that challenge Vivian. For example, the Hunt 2 first familyshe was sent to, The

usually gets better, particularly if your body responds to the treatment you receive,

He would later adapt this style to his fiction. In May of 1918, Hemingway became
an honorary second lieutenant in the Red Cross. He could not join the army due to
a defective left eye (resentfully inherited from his mother). On his first day of
service across seas, he and other ambulance drivers were assigned the horrific duty
of picking up body parts from an exploded munitions factory. Death, mostly of
women, on such a scale was most definitely another very shocking moment in
Hemingway s young life. But he soon recovered from this experience and became
known as the man who was always where the action is. He would often sneak
cigarettes and chocolate to soldiers on the Italian front. It was on one of these
occasions that he was severely wounded by an Austrian trench mortar. Even with
over a hundred pieces of shrapnel and an Austrian machine gun bullet logged in his
leg he managed to carry a wounded soldier a hundred yards to safety. He got the
Italian Medal of Valor for his courageous action. He spent his recovery time at the
Ospedale Croce Rossa Americana, in Milan. It is there that he met and fell for a
thirty year old nurse called Agnes Hannah. To Ernest s disappointment, Agnes was
not willing to embark in a relationship. Ernest, who had not yet turned twenty, who
was a war hero, a journalist and a wounded soldier, was too
Drugs And The War On Drugs
Studies are in and the war on drugs was a massive failure.
This war on drugs was useless because they expected that shunning addicts would
diminish drug use.
The problem is, the stigmatization of addiction causes much more negative than
positive effects in our society.
It is harder to get back into society: get a job and is pushing people away from
admitting they have a substance abuse problem and seeking treatment.
The government made a counter intuitive system for fighting drugs and it is causing
serious harm to our culture.
One of these effects is that,
Nowadays, if someone heard someone else used to do drugs they label you as a
second class citizen which makes it much harder to get a job and merge into society.
When people hear someone did drugs or is doing drugs they have an immediate
prejudice against them. They are labelled a criminal, a scourge to society and are
treated like a second class citizen. It is much harder to get and keep a job. Joining
back into society is much harder because many people don t want to be associated
with others shown in such a poor light.
It is much harder to get a job if you have a previous addiction and especially if you
have a criminal record because of that addiction. Many employers do not want to
associate with possible legal liabilities because no employer would want someone
doing their job under the influence and because of the previous addiction, they would
deem previous drug user more likely to show up under the influence.
Theme Of Woman Hollering Creek
Many women struggle to overcome obstacles in their lives. Sometimes they find it
difficult to leave abusive relationships and end up never leaving. But some women
are brave or work up the courage to take a stand and leave the situation. In the short
story, Women Hollering Creek , Sandra Cisneros explains the theme of the story by
telling about a womanwho s husband abuses her. The story describes the
experiences of a young women named Cleofilas. She grew up with six brothers and
had no mother. So therefore, she learned how to be a woman through watching
telenovelas. She believes that to be a woman she only needs to find true love and
have a happily ever after . Later she meets a man named Juan and they eventually fall

up with it and plans a way to leave her husband and go back to Mexico with her
father. Cleofilas talks Juan into taking her to her doctor appointment. When in the

Sikhism In Sikhism
Sikhism is the fifth largest religion in the world is five hundred years old. Like
Hinduism, Sikhism also believes in the endless cycle of rebirth and the karma
generated past life affecting the place where you are born. The founder of this
religion was Guru Nanak and his followers became Sikhs. Guru Nanak was born in
Hindu family in northern India with exposure to both Hindu and Muslim religions.
Kings of Lodhi dynasty were the rulers and conditions in the country were sewer.
Adultery and debauchery were the common practices at that time and young
women were caught in the open market without any restriction (Singh 1).
Marriageable and grown up girls were taken away from their parents. Girls were
mistreated and parents were afraid to give birth to girl child so they began to
murder their own girl child. Thousands of girls were put to death and buried in the
ground. Pregnant women were considered as burdensome to her husband and if
women gave birth to female child it was considered bad and everyone weep on the
birth of female child. Instead of killing their daughters some parents began to marry
their daughters as soon as they were born. Many people adapted the system of
childhood marriage and it soon became a culture (Singh 2). Sri Guru Nanak Devji was
born in 1469 in Talwandi, a village in the Sheikhupura district, 65 kms. west of
Lahore. He was married in 1487 and was blessed with two sons, one in 1491 and the
second in 1496.By all accounts, 1496 was the year of his
New Managerial Tools and Technology for Nurses
New Managerial Tools and Technology for Nurses
The purpose of this paper is to review some of the managerial tools and technology
used my nurse managers to promote managerial control and increase performance of
employees. The days of sitting at nurses station and hand writing the documentation
into the patients chart are long gone. While it did take longer to establish computers
into the world of patient care, computers have evolved to accommodate the complex
needs at hospitals and other medical facilities (Saranto Leino Kilpi, 1997). Obviously
improvements need to be made; however, I will examine some of the electronic
gadgets utilized today.
Security of patient data prevented the use of computers for anything other than

The device once attached to a charging station, then down loads the data into the main
computer system for the hospital. Once downloaded, the data is acceccible to all
other departments and physicians (Garrett Klein, 2008). This process allows the nurse
to quickly document in real time, without interruption and without stepping away
from the patient. PDA use is dependent on software included; however, many
facilities include ability to research diagnoses, and medications. Nurses, while at the
bedside have the capability to answer patient questions regarding medications and
diagnosis (Garrett Klein, 2008). Previously, a nurse had to walk to nurses station,
find the appropriate resource book, look up data, write it down, and take it back to
the patient (Sampers, 2013). Nurse managers view this device as a tool to promote
time saving measure for the nurses, improve nursing performance and allow for
monitoring of tasks performed and time to perform them. This data enables nurse
managers to evaluate staffing needs, track trends within the nursing unit, ensure data
collection and availability, and promote patient satisfaction (Garrett Klein, 2008).
Computers
As previously mentioned, computers have evolved within the medical industry.
Nurses are able to perform all data entry at or near the patient rooms. Most facilities

Synoptic Gospel Of John
The Synoptic Problem of the Gospels is encountered in devising a scheme of
literary dependence to account for the combinations of similarities and
dissimilarities. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke are being referred to as
synoptic gospels because the three are so similar in structure, content and wording
that they can easily be set side by side to provide a synoptic comparison. However,
the Gospelof John has a different arrangement and offers a unique perspective on
Christ. The striking similarities of the first three Gospels prompt questions regarding
the actual literary relationship that exists between them. This question, called
synoptic problem, has been elaborately studied in modern times.

Wall E Analysis
Wall e is an American computer animated dystopian production in the adventurous,
romantic/comedy genre directed by Andrew Staton in 2008. In the distant future, a
small waste collecting robot accidentally embarks on a space adventure that will
ultimately decide the destiny of humankind. The director uses colour/lighting and
visual motifs to represent the environmental issues and waste.
The opening scene of Wall E is deep in outer space with the camera zooming in,
angled high of an extreme wide shot of the polluted wasteland known as Earth, with
billions of artificial satellites circling around it and is no indication of life whatsoever,
as the surviving humans have evacuated onto a giant spaceship called the Axiom.

with a close up of Wall E s eyes with the plant on the right hand side and extremely
blurry. The Closeup focuses intensely on Wall E s eyes to emphasises his emotions
which are dazzled, curious and fascinated all at the same as he has never seen
anything like it. The plant is blurry because its alien like and doesn t belong on

develops hope and nurturing and green associates with meanings of growth, harmony,
and the environment. The plant is also a symbolises Earths s renewed sustainability,
so the humans eventually realise it is their job to protect and nurture it. This
component is evidently seen when the Captain realises that the people aboard the

care of such plants, and the earth itself. The humans return to save the environment

Louis Jenkins Memes
Beyond their connection to the affect and narratives constructed by the textual
elements, little unifies the participants that construct and use particular memes.
Therefore, each iteration of an image macro is representative of a particular
individual s understanding and identification with the meme. Jenkins conception of
the mode rejects the suggestion that memes can represent particular viewpoints
noting, Deleuze consistently critiques the view of rhetoric as representation precisely
because such accounts presuppose actual subjects who do the representing. However,
while memes should not be considered exact representations of static subjects,
Deleuze notes it is still important to consider the processes of subjectification.

Dietary Supplements Analysis
The use of this new type of medicine first sparked a frenzy in the mid 19th century. A
competition began between conventional and CAM medical providers, however, in
the mid 20th century with the increasing importance of scientific evidence and
experimentation, the popularity of complementary and alternative medicinebegan to
decline. A type of medicine that people often don t think of being a part of CAM
would be a dietary supplement such as ginseng. This root is used as a stress reducer
or often seen as a treatment for anxiety, insomnia, and impotency. Although it is often
used to treat symptoms, the adverse side effects and druginteractions should be a

any prescription medication, alternative medication, or treatment must be brought to
the physician s attention. Without the knowledge of your physician, drug interactions
could have many harmful side effects if you are taking a prescription drug. These
interaction types can be one of two different types. One of the types are
pharmacodynamic interactions, which is when a dietary supplement enhances the

is when a dietary supplement changes some aspects of the metabolism, excretion,

Standardized Test Scores An Accurate Representation Of A...
Are standardized test scores an accurate representation of a student s abilities?
Standardized tests can be found at any level of a student s academic career, but are
they accurate indicators of a student s academic abilities? Standardized tests are used
to measure a student s academic abilities, and overall knowledge. In theory, a student
s skills can be determined by examining the limited data collected from the test.
However, standardized test do not fully represent a student s abilities, and cumulative
knowledge. Many factors may affect the validity of the scores, and the accuracy of
the assessment. Instructor s teaching directly for the test, being able to guess on
multiple choice questions, examining only test scores, and ignoring other academic
factors contribute to the biased representation of students academic abilities.
Because instructors are teaching directly for the test, the data collected may not be an
accurate representation of the student s true abilities. As standardized test grow in
popularity among the school system, the pressure to achieve high scores rapidly
builds. The importance of high scores goes beyond individual students performances,
and teacher evaluations. Serious repercussions could result from poor scores, or
performances. For example, schools that continue to fail to improve may be closed,
and districts that continue to fail may be subject to state takeover (Posner). With the
weight of the success of the school on their shoulders,
Hawaii Doesn t Dance Just Hula Essay
Hawaii Doesn t Dance Just Hula Hip Hop dancing is a revolutionary style that has
spread throughout America for over decades now. Going coast to coast and even
over many oceans, especially the Pacific Ocean in the state of Hawaii. The
stereotype that all people in Hawaii are Hawaiians or that the population lives in
grass huts and doesn t know what a mall is, plagues the minds of mainlanders. So it
would be a big surprise knowing that these Hawaiians can be Hip Hop dancers too.
The message was shouted out to the whole nation when Hawaii s first Hip Hop dance
crew Hype 5 0 competed on America s Best Dance Crew season five showcasing
their dance abilities against other dance crews from around the country. Once this
message was relayed, Hawaii was put on the Hip Hop map and even more Hip Hop
influence poured into the state with dance competitions being held, Hip Hop artists
increasingly having concerts, and having dancers from Hawaii travel out to the
mainland expressing their talents and not forgetting where they are from. The
origins of Hip Hop dancing occurred in the early 1960 s and comes from various
cities within New York. Creating and incorporating different styles within New York,
they were able to construct a diverse culture of dancing that would soon spread
throughout the whole country. With dance styles such as uprock, breaking, locking,
roboting, boogaloo, and popping. Hip Hop dancing over the years improved with
these base dance styles to grow from. According
ERP Strategies and Vision
The purpose of this phase is to establish the ERP strategies and vision. The
establishment of the ERP strategies and vision sets the direction of the ERP
project, as well as for the ERPs entire lifecycle in the organisation (Ganly, 2012).
The key activities is to define what an ERP is for the organisation, identifying the
scope of the ERP, gain alignment of the business needs with the organisations
information Technology (IT) strategies, precisely articulate the project vision and
ensure the vision aligns with the business goals (Ganly, 2012). According to Ganly
(2012) organisations need to spend enough time clearly defining the strategy for
ERP implementation, as well as planning the entire implementation process of an
ERP thoroughly. Spending enough time planning and strategising would increase
the chances of the ERP implementation to be successful (Ganly, 2012). The dangers
of this phase however is having a vision that is overly ambitious, poorly defined or
not realistic; which results in having an ERP implementation strategy that is
impossible to deliver and ultimately impossible to gain business value (Ganly,
2012). Not understanding an ERP within the context of the organisations
application portfolio will lead to an ERP implementation that is not appropriately
scoped and does not align to business and IT strategies (Ganly, 2012). Taking a pace
layered approach according to Ganly (2012) is vital for ERPs long term success
within the organisation as well as
The Word Choice In Michelle
In music and writing, the narrative voices of male characters will express an
enthusiastic response to show affection to a female character. Michelle is a song

of a play by William Shakespeare. These lines were spoken by Romeo and he is
expressing what he sees in Juliet poetically. These sources convey that when a male
feels a sense of attraction to someone, he can be shocked to a point that he does not
realize he is allowing his emotionto be broadcasted verbally. The word choice in
Michelle gives the reader a sense into the male character s emotions by saying, Sont

Archetypes In Weimar
One of the main factors limiting cultural cross pollination is language. It acts as a
barrier keeping people of different ethnicities from interacting and, therefore, cross
pollinating. However, due to its lack of a reliance on language and its focus on
universal images, film has been easily cross pollinated throughout different cultures.
Since it first came about, filmhas served as a metaphor for something greater than
itself. The time period between 1919 and 1933 acted as the Weimar Republic in
Germany; the loss of World War I bred creativity that was amplified to global culture
.
As a result of this increase in creativity, Weimar films was created. Weimar films
created archetypes that still inform world culture today. Primarily, the one Weimar
film that gives us the most global images is Metropolis. This film set the stage for
nearly every science fiction film since its release. Most of the science fiction
elements in Back to the Future are direct lifts from Metropolis. The film created an
archetype of the mad professor that manifests itself in the Back to the Future series.

While the novel may have depicted what a vampire acts like, Weimar films brought
the vampire to life, therefore establishing the now stereotypical vampire
appearance. The widow s peak at the top of their head, the sharp top canine teeth,
the mysterious voice, and the cape with a red interior are all vital characteristics in
creating the vampire we all know and love today. These characteristics were a result
of the film Nosferatu. Everyone pictures a vampire as an old white man, not as
yourself, therefore illuminating the archetype created by Weimar films. Without
Weimar films, the archetype of the vampire would not have been created or
Examples Of Sacrifice In The Veldt

intentional or bring unwanted consequences. Although each of these sacrifices are
different, whether it s a sacrifice of a relationship, a character s faith, or the more

Veldt by Ray Bradbury is a book set in the future, in which your house can virtually

Pros And Cons Of Gentrification

pbs.org, Gentrification is a general term for the arrival of wealthier people in an
existing urban district, a related increase in rents and property values, and changes in
the district s character and culture. The term is often used negatively, suggesting the

Gentrification has happened, is happening or will happen in the United States and it
is inevitable due to the government supporting it and the power that money has in
these regions. Although gentrification does have some pros, it also has some
important cons; the first con is the hidden cost that comes with gentrification, the
second con is the rents being raised which leads people to becoming homeless. This
paper will show the history, effects, benefits, and solutions like putting limits to when
and by how much the rent can be raised so that people don t become homeless. This

amount of people in debt is too much for gentrification to occur at this
What Is The Second Nature Of Crime In The 1960 s
The 1960 , onwards saw an in formalization of many of the manners developed in
the previous decades and a move from second nature to a gradual transition to third
nature (Elias, 1993) The 1960 s saw a change in social and psychological censorship.
The third nature of society is thought to be ego dominated, self regulated and more
expressive. This controlled de controlling of emotions is reflected, not only in the
public s changing attitudes towards sex and violence, but also in the diminishing fear
of authority (Wouters, 2007).
In the 1960 s crime against others appeared to be rising at a steady rate. This
increase in violent crime was blamed on the increased permissiveness and lack of
self control associated with 1960 s culture. However, since the 1990 s crime has
appeared to be falling, this could arguably be due to the way crime is recorded and
measured as there are different sources of data available. Violent crime is
categorized as, violence against a person (Home Office 2015). However, sexual
offenses are not included in this definition. Threats against another without physical
violence are also not included and domestic violence is now measured ... Show more

also, the court will not discharge certain types of debts such as student loans,

Argumentative Essay On Prions

eating disorder that causes shaking, and furthermore the name Kuru in the means
shaking or trembling in a literal sense. The Fore spread this disease a fair bit,
specifically due to their cannibalistic funeral practices of eating the remains of the
dead, and specifically the brain (Bichell, Rae Ellen 2016). However, the presence
of Prions have been around for eras, but the discovery in the Fore tribe spearheaded
the movement to learn more about them. Eventually in 1982, the Prion protein
was discovered by Stanley Prusiner, eventually earning him the Nobel Prize in
1997 for his proof of the lack of DNA or RNA in the protein, juxtaposed to bacteria
and viruses (Prion Alliance, 2016). As the amount of diseases discovered increased,
it became eerily known that the Prion disease in humans and animals were all
caused by one original misfolded protein, PrPsc. Despite a common origin, pinning
down a solution to the problems of Prions is an extremely complex issue. With an
extreme resistance to everything, Prions opens the question of sanitization in
hospitals. If a doctor were to be working with a Prion contaminated sample, the tools
used may be thought to be completely clean, yet Prions being highly resistant would

Hitler s Impact On The World War II
In the year 1940, many Germans stood at a square, saluting and chanting Hitler s
name. World War II has begun and many Germans hope for improvements in the
economy. Their leader is Adolf Hitler. Adolf Hitler, dictator of Germany in World
War II, was a powerful speaker who caused over 5 million deaths in concentration
camps. Though Hitler s impact can be felt in modern times, the roots of his atrocious
behavior began at childhood more specifically high school.
Years before Adolf Hitlerwas born, Hitler s great grandfather, Johann Georg Hiedler,
was a wandering miller. Before his second marriage he had an illegitimate son named
Alois Hitler s father. Since Alois was illegitimate, he kept his mother s last name,

The two remaining were Adolf Hitler and Paula Hitler. They had a stable life
together at a farm Alois bought. Adolf Hitler went to a small village school he was
a very smart student and had exceptional grades. However, when he was put in a
bigger urban secondary school, he started to lose interest and gave up to aimless
reading and arts he dreamed of being an artist.
As a child Hitler would often disagree with his father. His father, Alois Hitler,
wanted him to enter civil service. In Linz high school, Adolf thought if he failed
his father would let him pursue his dreams of becoming an artist. Adolf put his
plan into motion, he was failing; his grades were so bad he had to transfer to a state
high school. In Linz high school, though, only his history teacher impressed him. Dr.
Leopold Poetsch, Many historians believe that Hitler s influence began in high
school. They believed that Dr. Leopold Poetsch created it. Years later, when Leopold
retired Hitler came to visit him. When Alois died, Hitler persuaded his mother to let
him enter Vienna Academy of Arts. He took the entrance exam and failed to be
accepted. (Shirer)
Looking back, Hitler remembers his teachers as mentally insane people:
When I recall my teachers at school, I realized that half of them were abnormal. . . .
We pupils of old Austria were bought up to respect old people and women. But on
our professors we had no mercy; they were our natural enemies. The majority of
Interracial Marriage Among Immigrants
Literature review
Interracial marriage is always one of the hottest focus in the immigration study (Alba
and Nee 2003; Pagnini and Morgan 1990; Kalmijn and Tubergen 2010), there are
many different explanation models using different levels of measurement exist for its
analysis. First, many study conduct the relationship between interracial marriage
among immigrants and different groups in host society and using the rate of
immigrants intermarriage as an indicators to predict their level of assimilation into
the host society (Qian and Lichter 2001; Pagnini and Morgan 1990; Waters 2000;
Dribe and Lundh 2008;Xie and Goyette 1997). For example in the study conducted
by Qian and Lichter, the scholars use the interracial marriage among natives and ...

1997; Herman Campbell 2012; Dan et al. 2002; Qian 1997; Kalmijn 1993). One of
the most accepted theory under this discipline is the status caste exchange primarily
proposed by Davis(1941) and Merton (1941), it states that white of relatively low
socioeconomic status (SES) marry blacks of higher SES in an exchange of racial
caste position or economic resources and status (Rosenfeld 2005), both of them use
the purely theoretical evidence from the Hindu caste system to suggest that the same
pattern should be applicable toward the explanation of interracial marriage relations
between a high caste group such as the whites and a low caste group such as the
blacks. Qian s research over the interracial marriage in America between 1980 and
1990 is consistent with the status caste exchange theory, the finding of this research
suggests that among interracially married couples with different educational
attainments, both men and women from lower status racial groups but with high
education levels tend to marry spouses from a higher status racial group with low
education levels (Qian 1997). Similarly Kalminjn s study over black/white
intermarriage in America from 1968 to 1986 suggests that the status characteristics of
these marriages have remained traditional in the sense that intermarriage still occurs
primarily when the white woman marries up in socioeconomic status (Kalminjn
Non-Color Photography In The Film Life Is Beautiful
My photograph chosen for this assignment is of a woman dressed in old time
colonial attire. This black and white picture was one I took while on vacation in
Williamsburg, Virginia; it represents a documentary photo because of the
significance and relevance to the history of colonial Williamsburg and how
women back then dressed in their everyday lives. The subject matter of my
photograph is of the woman herself; she captures a viewer s attention because she
is the primary subject of interest, and the buildings and houses behind her
accentuate the idea of everyday colonial life to add to the photographic effect I
wanted to portray. The form and content of this piece came together uniformly in
which the photograph is formally organized as a composition overall and it
expresses the feeling of colonial life in its content. I chose non color photography
for this photograph because there are less distractions to take away from my
subject like there is in some color photography. I also chose to use non color
because it adds to the depth of the photo and presents a varied range of tone and
contrast, light and dark areas that give a greater detail to my photo.

In this film a father attempts to protect his family from the horrors of WWII. This
film caused me to react the way I did because it reveals to an audience how powerful
optimism is even if it seems like the darkest of times. It also challenged my
understanding of the world by seeing how preserving our own child like innocence
can shelter us from life problems we may encounter, such as war, stress, financial
issues, etc. Life is Beautiful is a film that changed my understanding in just simple
concept and is beautifully

High School Application Essay Sample.pdf

  • 1. High School Application Essay Sample Crafting a high-quality essay on the topic of a "High School Application Essay Sample" can be a challenging task that demands careful consideration and thoughtful reflection. The difficulty arises from the need to strike a balance between showcasing one's unique qualities, experiences, and aspirations while adhering to the specific requirements and expectations set by the high school application process. To begin with, the essay needs to capture the attention of the reader right from the introduction. This requires a compelling hook that not only piques interest but also sets the tone for the entire piece. Formulating an engaging opening statement that effectively introduces oneself and highlights personal strengths can be a delicate balancing act. The body of the essay should delve into relevant experiences, achievements, and challenges faced during previous academic years. (NHS) for the opportunity to submit a proposal for the NHS internet connection project. Following is our proposal for an Internet connection that will meet the NHS business objective. NHS is a Maine based health services company who accommodates underserved patients in rural parts of the state. Recently, the NHS decided to expand services by adding branch offices in towns near the Canadian border to: В· Provide state of the art health services to patients by offering medical imaging services with rapid diagnoses. Northeastern Health Services plans to accomplish this by partnering with a medical analysis unit in New York. Accordingly, large medical image files will be transmitted between destinations via fast Internet connection. To put it briefly, the NHS is expanding services to provide top notch health care services by partnering with regional hospitals. But first, several obstacles must be addressed to meet the objective; most importantly, selecting the best internet connection for the project. Health care companies are increasingly relying on networked information systems to share patient data and records. Therefore, choosing the correct internet access technology is key to any company who wants to be competitive in this environment. Fortunately for NHS, there are several internet access options available for this project; these include DSL, cable, T1, cellular, and satellite

Without other people to interact with and learn from, babies would grow to be nothing more than a wild animal. Every human being is born with the potential to develop into an intelligent, social creature, but without humaninfluence a person can never develop into what we consider to be a member of human society. One can clearly see this through the reports of feral children. There has been only a few cases reported and very few studied. In cases from the past feral children are reported as wild children who could not speak or communicate in anyway. These children bit, scratched, growled, and walked on all fours. In addition to this primal behavior, they ate grass, ravenously tared apart small animals and devoured the raw meat. The most shocking quality of the children was their apparent lack of sensitivity to pain or cold. (Henslin 66 7) The most famous case of a feral child was The wild boy of Aveyron in 1798. These wars not only caused an indelible trauma in the whole world but also left deep bitterness and lessons for the German people. At that time, however, there was a small group of the German artist upstream, strongly against the government s evil deeds, expressed their condemnation and discontent for the war through their artworks, such as Max Beckmann and Otto Dix. This article will use Max Beckmann s The Large Operation and Otto Dix s Der Krieg (The War) as examples, to specifically discuss how these two artists changed their drawing style in a more intense way in order to create an impressed depiction of the bloodshed and cruelty of the war for the viewers. In The Large Operation, Max Beckmann depicts a crowded and busy operating room inspired by his personal experience in World War I . Every hospital staff has different expressions and positions, but most strikingly, is the two injured people, or can be called dead soldiers, lying lifelessly. The artist uses different techniques here to distinguish the alive one from the lifeless one. The drawing lines of the hospital staffs who are in action are smooth and fresh, which reflects a busy feeling. But the drawing lines of the lying soldiers are rigid and messy, which gives a strange sense of death. For the faces, the artist gives every staff different characteristics and emotions, but for

Out of this unsatisfied demand, 42,000 ( 420,000 0.1) will materialize as demand for Hydras. All other unsatisfied demand is lost to competitors. The attack of the Spanish Armada was spurred by King Phillip the 2nd. His motives were religious as England seemed committed to Protestantism as well as for economic and political reasons. An English fleet of 197 ships were able to conquer the invasion and led to Spain no longer being able to prevent the English from settling in the New World. The plan at this time was for English colonies to go to America to spread the Protestant religion and expand the market for English woolens; this would bring in valuable tax revenues. The American forests could be used for timber and naval stores to build a bigger navy and merchant marine. Queen Elizabeth did not condone this as she was too cautious and so settlement was not acted upon until after her death in 1603. The new king James the 1st granted licenses for two groups of English merchants to colonize Virginia. The first charter revealed the motives of the king when it spoke of spreading Christianity and bringing the savages to civility along with the rights to dig, mine and search for all matters of gold,

Kings of Lodhi dynasty were the rulers and conditions in the country were sewer. Adultery and debauchery were the common practices at that time and young women were caught in the open market without any restriction (Singh 1). Standardized tests can be found at any level of a student s academic career, but are they accurate indicators of a student s academic abilities? Standardized tests are used to measure a student s academic abilities, and overall knowledge. In theory, a student s skills can be determined by examining the limited data collected from the test. However, standardized test do not fully represent a student s abilities, and cumulative knowledge. Many factors may affect the validity of the scores, and the accuracy of the assessment. Instructor s teaching directly for the test, being able to guess on multiple choice questions, examining only test scores, and ignoring other academic factors contribute to the biased representation of students academic abilities. Because instructors are teaching directly for the test, the data collected may not be an accurate representation of the student s true abilities. As standardized test grow in popularity among the school system, the pressure to achieve high scores rapidly builds. The importance of high scores goes beyond individual students performances, and teacher evaluations. Serious repercussions could result from poor scores, or performances. For example, schools that continue to fail to improve may be closed, and districts that continue to fail may be subject to state takeover (Posner). The key activities is to define what an ERP is for the organisation, identifying the scope of the ERP, gain alignment of the business needs with the organisations information Technology (IT) strategies, precisely articulate the project vision and ensure the vision aligns with the business goals (Ganly, 2012). According to Ganly (2012) organisations need to spend enough time clearly defining the strategy for ERP implementation, as well as planning the entire implementation process of an ERP thoroughly. Spending enough time planning and strategising would increase the chances of the ERP implementation to be successful (Ganly, 2012). The dangers of this phase however is having a vision that is overly ambitious, poorly defined or not realistic; which results in having an ERP implementation strategy that is impossible to deliver and ultimately impossible to gain business value (Ganly, 2012). First, many study conduct the relationship between interracial marriage among immigrants and different groups in host society and using the rate of immigrants intermarriage as an indicators to predict their level of assimilation into the host society (Qian and Lichter 2001; Pagnini and Morgan 1990; Waters 2000; Dribe and Lundh 2008;Xie and Goyette 1997). One of the most accepted theory under this discipline is the status caste exchange primarily proposed by Davis(1941) and Merton (1941), it states that white of relatively low socioeconomic status (SES) marry blacks of higher SES in an exchange of racial caste position or economic resources and status (Rosenfeld 2005), both of them use the purely theoretical evidence from the Hindu caste system to suggest that the same pattern should be applicable toward the explanation of interracial marriage relations between a high caste group such as the whites and a low caste group such as the blacks. Qian s research over the interracial marriage in America between 1980 and 1990 is consistent with the status caste exchange theory, the finding of this research suggests that among interracially married couples with different educational attainments, both men and women from lower status racial groups but with high education levels tend to marry spouses from a higher status racial group with low education levels (Qian 1997). Similarly Kalminjn s study over black/white intermarriage in America from 1968 to 1986 suggests that the status characteristics of these marriages have remained traditional in the sense that intermarriage still occurs primarily when the white woman marries up in socioeconomic status (Kalminjn

This black and white picture was one I took while on vacation in Williamsburg, Virginia; it represents a documentary photo because of the significance and relevance to the history of colonial Williamsburg and how women back then dressed in their everyday lives. The subject matter of my photograph is of the woman herself; she captures a viewer s attention because she is the primary subject of interest, and the buildings and houses behind her accentuate the idea of everyday colonial life to add to the photographic effect I wanted to portray. The form and content of this piece came together uniformly in which the photograph is formally organized as a composition overall and it expresses the feeling of colonial life in its content. I chose non color photography for this photograph because there are less distractions to take away from my subject like there is in some color photography. I also chose to use non color because it adds to the depth of the photo and presents a varied range of tone and contrast, light and dark areas that give a greater detail to my photo. The LumiГЁre Brothers were significant to the early production of projected motion pictures and how they impacted cinematographs through using a system that created a ... This film caused me to react the way I did because it reveals to an audience how powerful optimism is even if it seems like the darkest of times.
