Super Power Should Have More Benefits Of Power
At some point in our lives, we all wished we had super powers. Most of us grew up watching
movies like Superman or The Incredibles, which awakened in us the desire to have their
abilities. I used to imagine how different, easy and awesome my life would be if I were to have
super powers, but I never thought on which one would I prefer if I were told to pick just one. It
is indeed a difficult answer, since there are so many choices of useful and incredible powers; but I
would say that having Superhuman Speed is the most convenient and valuable of them all. Being
super fast has more benefits than any other power because it does not only include super speed but
also timetraveling, eating whatever you like without getting fat, and going anywhere... Show more

If you are super fast, you could be anywhere in a matter of minutes or seconds, without the need of
a car. You could get ready a few minutes you and never be late to school or work. If you wantto go
to a place and you don t have the tickets or permission to enter, you could just run so fast that no
one would notice you and that way you ll get to be there without complications. If you want to
take your date to Italy to eat pizza, you could just run there, eat pizza, and be back the same day.
You could sneak out from your house and go to the party your parents did not allow you to go to,
and they would never know. You would be able to go anywhere, at any time and all the times you
want.
Having super human speed gives you more than just the ability to run fast, but the opportunity to
do many things while you are running. With this super power, life would be much more exciting
and you would have less things to worry about. A great superpower is one that will bring you
happiness, and at the same time will solve your problems or allow you to help others. That is what

Short Term Effects Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution
The industrial revolution began in the eighteenth century and had a massive impact on the world.
Some of the impacts negative and others positive. The impacts that followed from the industrial
revolution affected the world on both a long term and a short term scale.
One of the short term positives to the industrial revolution was the amount of jobs produced.
Factories would employ hundreds of people looking for work. The work was hard and the pay
was not great but the workers were grateful that they had a job. Economic boom was another
positive short term for the upper classes. The upper class factory owners would pay the factory
workers, the workers would then look for a cheap place to stay. A number of workers had... Show

Transport is one of the most notable positive long term impacts of the industrial revolution.
Because the industrial revolution produced so much money, extra money was put into inventions.
One major invention is the steam train. The steam train was a useful for transporting people as
well as cargo such as products that the factories produced or the materials that were used in the
factories to make products. Another great outcome of the industrial revolution, is the efficiency of
work and producing things. If things were still made the same that cottage system made them, it
would not work as they could not keep up to global demands. The economy has gone up due the
flow on effect of the industrial revolution. Education has improved and so have the working
conditions. No longer can the employer pay the worker little to nothing for hard work, minimums
have been set and work safety has been improved dramatically. This has all been set by then Union
which was formed during the hard labouring times of the industrial revolution. Hygiene has
improved and by doing so the average life expectancy has gone

Special Needs Of Prisons In The Prison System
The Problem A major issue facing the prison system and society is the fact that prisons are not
equipped to meet the needs of older prisoners and older prisoners are not adequately prepared to
renter society. The aging population in the prison system is an underserved and often ignored
population. Neglecting to provide adequate care for this population is a societal error that
negatively impacts not only the prisonpopulation but society as a whole. Prisons are typically used
for rehabilitation purposes. Current policies that force prisoners to remain incarcerated well into
old ageneed to be reviewed to assess for alternative solutions that respect the dignity of the aging
population and are beneficial to society as well. We must proceed with a question in mind, is the
purpose of the prison system to act as a rehabilitation/punishment system or a revenge
/punishment system? Older prisoners are considered to be a special needs population according
to the Handbook on Prisoners with Special Needs, created by the United Nations Office of Drugs
and Crime. Special needs groups have detailed guidelines to aid in the appropriate treatment of
special needs groups such as older prisoners, but these guidelines are not typically enforced. One
major issue aging prisoners face is that prisons are not structurally designed to accommodate people
with limited mobility and other disabilities. Issues with mobility and disability are often
unavoidable results of the aging process. Outside

Four Types of Measurement Scales
Introduction There are four measurement scales, or types of data, nominal, ordinal interval and
ratio. These four measurements are simple ways to categorize different types of variables. This
paper will discuss the usage of each scale.
Nominal
Nominal scales are the most commonly used in marketing research. Nominal scales are used for
labeling variables, without any quantitative value. In fact, Nominal scales could be called labels .
Nominal are categories with numbers assigned to them to facilitate analysis. A nominal scale
partitions data into categories that are mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive, implying that
every bit of data will fit into one and only one category and that all data will fit somewhere on the

Examples: RULER: inches or centimeters YEARS of work experience INCOME: money earned

ConclusionIt s important to recognize that there is a hierarchy implied in the level of measurement
idea. At lower levels of measurement, assumptions tend to be less restrictive and data analyses
tend to be less sensitive. At each level up the hierarchy, the current level includes all of the
qualities of the one below it and adds something new. In general, it is desirable to have a higher
level of measurement (e.g., interval or ratio) rather than a lower one (nominal or

Victor Frankenstein As A Monster
Mary Shelley describes how the behaviors of the characters in the story led to their downfall. In
Frankenstein, the main character, Victor Frankenstein is very irresponsible and naГЇve. His
creation, the monster is hideous and hopeless. When Victor was a young child, science was his
favorite subject because he was fascinated with experiments. He enjoyed and continued reading
outdated books by Agrippa to expand his knowledge in science, even though his father discouraged
him to do so. Victor was determined to fulfill his desires because he wanted to create his own
innovation that would benefit society. After Victor had become a student at the University of
Ingolstadt, he locked himself in the laboratory and worked hard to prove his theory on creating
human life. When his creation was nothing like Victor imagined, the start of his self destruction
begins. While both humans and machines rely heavily on information to acquire knowledge,
machines are more sensible under any circumstances.
Victor Frankenstein is introduced as an ambitious young man who aspires to be a scientist that finds
answers to all his questions. According to Shelley (2003), I opened it with apathy; the theory which
he attempts to demonstrate, and the wonderful facts which he relates, soon changed this feeling
into enthusiasm (34). When Victor discovered the works of Cornelius Agrippa, he suddenly found
life meaningful because natural philosophy caught his attention. Regardless of what people say,

W. Jacobs The Monkey s Paw
I need a creative title!
Well, don t break into the money before I get back. (Jacobs, 5) In the short story The Monkey s
Paw by W.W. Jacobs, Herbert White says this, because his parents got greedy and wished for
money to pay for their house using a magical monkey s paw. Their son was then killed in a
machinery accident, so they were given money for his death on that company s property. They lost
their son to a tragic death, all because they got greedy for some money. That is why people should
be thankful for what they have is an ideal that has been lost in society.
First,
People always want what the do not have. For instance, in the story the family uses their first wish
to wish for more money so they can pay for their house. They receive their money, but it is due to
the fact that their son died in a machinery accident. This perfectly happy family was now quiet and
sad, but they got the money that they wanted. They were given the exact amount of money that
they wanted, but their grief was unimaginable. The worst part, they caused their son s death, it was
their fault. This drove Mrs. White mad, she wanted more than anything to get her son back.

of the first wish, that he would probably return all mangled up and bloody from the machinery

Although it is a multinational company but they still make it obvious in their vision statement that
they are flexible enough. They are ready to adjust in the environment and do not want the customer
to get into any kind of complications. Creativity and innovation will always be a part of their
endeavors. But I think what lacks in the vision is that they do not want to stick to the
telecommunication industry alone. They should mention that they want to gain consumers
attention by making their lives easier with effective use of technology. They have now entered into
the banking business with the help of easy paisa and are doing the business on the concept of

Sermon Of The Mount V. Buddhism Doctrines
Sermon of the Mount v Buddhism Doctrines

Gautama. In search of spiritual discipline, he sought until he achieved what he believed some kind

In Chapter 7: Effective Prayer, it is indicated that with good prayers, good replies will be assured,
noting that good will and intentions are of great virtue. Evil thoughts and intentions will be
rewarded with the refusal entry to the heavens. In other Buddhist doctrines, Buddha teaches
spiritual richness rather than material indulgence, where it is also evident in Chapter 6: True
Treasures. Both faiths tend to comfort the poor and signify spirituality in the mortal life as in
the immortal life will carry nothing materialistic from the previous. In their teachings both
require their worshippers to cleanse their inner beings and focus on doing the right for oneself
and the others. They both call for the rise of well perceived communities in its good morality
and ethics despising ill doing and evil. They note that in the after life there will be a choice of
reward, one which is divine for the ones who spirited in life and well treated his fellow man, the
other is hell for the ones who broke the path of the teachings.
Religions service the same goal in every community whatever ways and scripts it is written in. The
sources and the methods may differ, but the objective is always the unification of broad
communities under a protective ceiling. Religions gather its own worshippers to saw a society of

Essay on The Effect of Birth Order on Learning and...
The Effect of Birth Order on Learning and Development
Birth order is a topic studied by many psychologists through numerous different studies and
conflicting viewpoints. In respect to the order in which children are born, psychologists have
labeled specific personality traits for each child. While psychologists continue to disagree on the
amount of emphasis to be placed on birth order and personality, studies have shown family size can
be a determining factor in a child s learning and development.
First born, middle, youngest, and only children are the common birth order positions most
commonly studied by psychologists. Alfred Adler, a major personality theorist, often studied the
issue of birth order. He believed that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The youngest children tend to be less adjusted than middle born children, are most likely to
experience feelings of inadequacy. Only children tend to desire being the center of attention, have
feelings of inferiority, and tend to be selfish in regard to sharing personal belongings. Although
these personality traits are widely accepted, a national sample by the Academic Advancement of
Youth of John Hopkins University found little relationship between birth order and personality.
However, a mild relationship between birth order and perfectionism was evident, (Parker 29).
Family size is more commonly accepted as a contributing factor to birth order positions. If birth
order is held constant, the larger the size of a family tends to be represented by a lower average
IQ. First born, as well as only children are often believed to have superior intellectual
development, which can be explained by the greater amount of attention and verbal attention given
by parents. This makes sense because parents of first born and only children are able to focus
more of their time with these children. A 1997 survey discovered the impact of a siblingborn during
the preschool and early grade school years. The first born child was significantly affected by the
birth of a sibling, which resulted in an increase in emotional problems leading to an increase in
behavioral problems during the first year. In addition, the learning

Chief s Magic Review
Chief s Magic takes you back in time where the classic 3 reel slot machine ran wild, and uses
Native American visuals to stand out from other similar titles in the genere. With a single payline
being featured, along with three pre defined paytables, Chief s Magic is a very simple slot game
experience without the usual wild icons and scatter symbols in the mix. With the availability of
playing between 0.25 and 15 coins, this game has a top prize award that is 200x your wager for
the matching of three chief icons, though this is available only at the highest bet ... Show more

A wild symbol is not featured in this game, as it has only the payout feature that is reserved for the
BAR logos, which can be assembled together to make a winning payline.
With three single BAR logos you get a payout of 3x your wager, but three double BAR logos
give you a payout of 5x your wager, and three triple BAR logos give a payout of 10x your wager,
while mixing and matching combinations of the three can double your starting wager. For instance,
two single BARs with a double BAR following is still a winning spin in Chief s Magic, though you
would get the minimum winning payout.
Nothing but a Dud
Besides what has been highlighted before, there is not much to the game and we are stuck
wondering why the icon with the game s highest value, the titular chief, is not featured as a
substitute wild icon. Having only one payline, this won t have a massive effect to make it a must
play for any players interested, but at the very least it would add some type of action and
excitement. Putting it simply, Chief s Magic is a dud when it comes to bonus features.
Looking for Brighter Fortunes
This is probably not the best of Microgaming s releases, as it appears to not have power where it
is most needed. There are greater games from Microgaming out there, with a few actually being a
bit adventurous with their creativeness and themes. Chief Fortune, which is the sequel to Chief s

Literary Devices In The Armenian Language
Yagiz Akiska Mrs. Lewis World Literature 3rd Period October 16th 2014 Somehow Connected

people died and their families were divided. The Armenian Language is the home of the Armenian
is a poem that was written after that time by Moushegh Ishkan (1913 1990), who was just a little
child while encountering such sad times. The author mentions his deep feelings about his heritage,
despite the tragic times Armenians faced, and throughout the poem he reveals his comfort, love,

The author uses the word home (1) instead of saying house to describe their language. Even
though they have the same meanings in the dictionary, something sounds different here. House
could be used to identify or describe a building itself but home is more than this for him; where
he enters to find love and pride and also to lock the hyena and the storm outside (4 5). Home is
where you find yourself the most comfortable, where you feel like you are not alone and it is
where you know that you leave everything behind when you enter. For the author, his language is
his home; when he speaks in Armenian or hears someone speaking in Armenian, he knows that
they have a common home, a sharing. He clearly mentions that despite the harshness of life, or
difficulties he has, he can still feel safe as he knows the other one he speaks to is proud of him
and loves him unconditionally. Many of us feel the same way in our own lives; when we have a
common point with someone else, we somehow start to develop a relationship between each other.
The author, with his words, is emphasizing that the common point among all the Armenian people
is their language; what reminds them of their past again, and makes them closer to each other to

Essay on Oil in Texas
How did the national demand for oil affect the local businesses in Texas, and how did Texas oil
discoveries affect the national oil market? As the Texas oil industry grew, so did related industries.
Some companies began producing oil by products such as petrochemicals. Others produced
pipelines, barrels, and oil field equipment. As these companies began moving into oil towns such
as Houston, Beaumont, and Port Arthur, they further expanded the local economies. Some moved
into small towns, quickly turning them into cities. In North Texas the town of Wichita Falls grew
from 8,200 residents in 1910 to about 40,000 in 1920.The state income also increased from just
over $101,000 in 1906 to $5.9 million in 1929, largely due to the oil... Show more content on

Gradually, the oil glut began to affect ordinary Texans. Soon after Spindletop, the availability of
an ocean of cheap oil encouraged its use as fuel for transportation and manufacturing. After
railroads converted from coal to oil, steamships followed, led by those operating in the Gulf of
Mexico and the Caribbean. As automobiles became more common, roads began to be paved
across the state. Mechanization of farm work increased quickly, enabling farmers to produce
more food with fewer people. Manufacturing plants developed in the formerly agricultural state,
using cheap oil as fuel. Texas population scales, heavily weighted toward the rural before
Spindletop, started to balance, and by 1940, the population was almost even: 55 percent rural and
45 percent urban. World War II tipped the scales, however, when wartime jobs at manufacturing
plants in the cities lured large numbers of people from farms and small towns. Most never
returned. This displacement of farming families was exacerbated by the absorption of many family
farms into large corporate operations. Increasing numbers of migrants from other states and foreign
countries also settled principally in urban centers. By 1980, the state was four fifths urban. The
political economy of resource rich states faces an inherent tension between the role of the state and
the private sector over control of

Symptoms And Treatment Of Cancer Patients
1.Introduction:
The numbers of people who are dying due to crucial diseases such as cancer have increased,
according to world health organization (WHO) cited in Jane et al (2008), in
2005, 7.6 million people died from cancer, a figure expected to increase to 9 million people by
2015 , and increasing further to 11.4 million dying in 2030. Therefore, scientists have attempted to
find appropriate solution for those problems. Since the nineteenth century, solutions have been
introduced by scientists, that use radiation for the diagnosis of diseases instead of surgery (Pope,

War Themes
John Marsden s novel Tomorrow When the War Began and the 2013 film directed by Brian
Percival The Book Thief shares a variety of similar themes that are constantly portrayed throughout
these texts. The 3 main themes that are shared between the novel and film were the theme of war,
friendship, and hope. War is a centered theme that causes characters to develop and mature while
the theme of friendship brought them together, strengthening their bonds and finally, the theme of
hope represented the optimistic ideas of the characters, through literary techniques in the novel and
cinematic effects in the film, the texts successfully exhibited the protagonists overcoming their
ordeals during horrific circumstances. The theme of war is a significant part of both the novel
Tomorrow When the War Began and the film The Book Thief . Although these texts are different
in many ways, they both focus on the similar theme of war, this is shown throughout the course of
the novel and the film. In John Marsden s novel Tomorrow When the War Began , 7 teenagers are
faced with the harsh reality of war when they return home from their camping trip. An unknown
country invades Australia declaring war, but they try to avoid casualty by holding the town
council hostage. The soldiers in the book referred to the war as a clean invasion and they proved
that it was a clean invasion by treating people well, for example, patients in the hospital were
looked after even though they were Australians.

Fan Fiction Character Appropriation
Fan fiction and character appropriation
Fan Fiction is a transformative practice of writing fiction created by fans based on existing source
work or consists of elements copied from a story world, character or setting, the original source of
the work being expanded can include any qualified material such as novels, films, comics or games.
Legal implications arise due to the contemplation whether it is an infringement of copyright as a
derivative work . Authors generally have a varied opinion on fan fiction, some downright loath
the practice, where as some consider it unimaginative yet unconcerned by it and some compliment
it. The creator of the original work rarely authorises or commissions fan fiction and it is very
unlikely to receive publishing. It has long existed as a fan practice, although since the internet s
inception it has amplified exponentially and has evolved into a much more elaborate exercise, with
various classifications, style and sub genres. The legal issues surrounding fan fiction are in dispute
of whether they are derivative works infringing Copyright Law, for these stories are usually
transformative of an original copyrighted literary works.
Fair use is a common defence against infringement claims, or in Australia fair dealings may
similarly constitute defence, though fair use isn t entirely secure for fan fiction, despite many
maintaining its legality due to its non profit nature. Lucasfilm Ltd have always accepted fan fiction

an essential source of potable water. Furthermore, the recharging of groundwater aids in drought
mitigation. Freshwater ecosystems play a similar role to water treatment plants in that they filter
out pollutants and purify water. They support a variety of plant and animal life, which ultimately
creates a robust food chain, supporting human and wildlife consumption. Wetlands reduce
greenhouse gas emissions by storing carbon dioxide rather than releasing it into the atmosphere. As
mentioned above, ecosystems help mitigate water related disasters. Aquatic ecosystems provide
nutrients to estuaries, river deltas, and maintain soil fertility. Additionally, by delivering freshwater,
freshwater ecosystems are able to maintain salinity balances within estuaries (Postel, 2008; SRWP,
2007; GWP, n.d.).
Water Demand for Ecosystem/Environmental Flow Requirements: Aquatic ecosystems rely on
water to survive and if the amount of water they rely on dwindles, the ecosystem becomes
negatively impacted and the services they provide will

Lonergan s Collateral Beauty
The audience for a movie of this kind becomes the lowest common denominator of feeling: a
sponge. So wrote Pauline Kael in response to The Sound of Music, blaming the victims when it
was still politically correct to do so. Looking into Hollywood s dollar sign eyes quickly explains
how the film industry sidestepped laying prostrate at Kael s hemline, and yet how often have
shameless tearjerkers really run the table at the box office in this millennium? Do modern
audiences still need their catharsis delivered via the safety of chosen trigger warnings? Has the
nobility of the collective cry been mitigated by just how many actual life opportunities we ve been
dealt?
In a recent podcast, Film Comment explored the film function most regularly maligned by, well, the
magazine s core demographic: jerking tears. And they wisely included among that week s panel
one of high culture s lone remaining proponents of craft driven cinematic populism: Mark Harris.
The panel congregated around writer director Kenneth Lonergan s funereal Manchester by the Sea,
understandably, but one regrets that they didn t wait a few weeks for the arrival of David Frankel s

Theft Definition Essay
Criminal Law, 26/04/11, Dr.Filletti
Theft
No definition of the offence of theft; Carrara gives us a definition which has been taken up by our
courts, The malicious taking of an object belonging to others without the owner s consent with the
intent to make gain. This is the definition which our court uses, our law simply creates one
distinction for these offences. The law creates two types of theft: Simple Theft and Aggravated
Theft.
Simple Theft:
First element is contrectazio this is the taking away, this element has 3 schools of thought: 1.
Carrara: Says amozio (movement), as soon as you have movement of the object, or as soon as the
offender lays his hands on the object and simply moves it the offence of theft is complete. ... Show

Violence: Manzini writes that violenece doesn t have to be addressed to the victim but against any
other person present during the crime. This is because the fundamental element of aggravation and
applies to all aggravations is that the aggravation must have facilitated the commission of the
crime. This was established in Pulizija vs Emmanuel Testa, Testa was a bus conductor who was
charged with violent indecent assault for having groped an 18 year old s breast on a bus. Was
charged with violent indecent assault aggravated by a public office, the fact alone that he was a
bus conductor, as a public officer. But this position as a public did not facilitate the aggravation
and the court agreed that it did not facilitate the crime. So he couldn t get an aggravation because
he was a public officer.
Our law speaks of bodily harm or threats of bodily harm, there must be real or perceived bodily
harm. What is essential is that this threat must necessarily be an influence on the victim s mind.
Violence can be used against a thing in so far as it instils fear of further harm to one s self. The
violence and the threat has to be such that it instils fear into the victim.
Another form is violenza numerica , more than 2 thieves present themselves. By the term present
themselves they don t need to know they are all there, the victim has to know there are more than
two they need not be in front of the victim. The rule is that you have to be

Social Status In Jane Austen s Emma
Emma, authored by Jane Austen, tells a story of a wealthy young woman s schemes to match up
her new, and much more poor, friend with the town s unsuspecting bachelors. What is revealed,
however, is not Emma s skills in match making, but her inability to see the true feelings of those
around her, as well as her own heart. Emma took place in a small town called Highbury, in 18th
century England. During the time period, there was a definite social rank. Almost all of the scenes
in the book take place in or around the estates of the characters. Their property mostly determined
their social status. This setting has significance to the storyline because of the social rank. Emma,

Comparing Gilgamesh And Amarna Letters
In the Babylonian pantheon, Nabu, son of Marduk, invented bestowed the art of writing in
cuneiform to man, although it s commonly accepted that it began in the late fourth millennium
B.C.E. With it, people kept records of trades and inventories, wrote chronicles of their kings,
epics depicting legendary characters like Gilgamesh, and sonnets to recite to worship their gods.
While many could stake some claim to basic literacy, scribes were the only ones able to truly
master the language afters year of practice, leading to information on the daily lives of
Babylonians being omitted from our knowledge. However, kings had the luxury of personal

For eighty four days, old Santiago has not caught a single fish. At first a young boy, Manolin,
shared his bad fortune, but after the fortieth luckless day, the boy s father tells his son to go in
another boat. From that time on, Santiago works alone. Each morning he rows his skiff out into the
Gulf Stream, where the big fish are. Each evening he comes home empty handed.
The boy loves the old fisherman and pities him. When Manolin has no money of his own, he
begs or steals to make sure that Santiago has enough to eat and has fresh baits for his lines. The
old man accepts his kindness with a humility that is like a quiet kind of pride. Over their evening
meals of rice or black beans, they talk about the fish they had caught in luckier times or about

farmers will hunt the coyotes. In order to understand the significance of coyotes, one must

To learn about coyotes, one must know its characteristics. Some of the characteristics that are

Football Narrative Speech
The sun beat down on us. Sweat trickled down our necks.Grass marks stained our jerseys and
stuck to us like a wet shirt. I brushed my dark brown hair out of the way and looked at the game

our goal, the end zone right below. One play was all that we needed. One pass into the end zone.
The score was 27 21. My team was aching, tired, and wore down. We were still gonna win and

I called the play, Omaha! Omaha! The receivers scattered to different sides of the field. My

COMPUTER NETWORKING, THIRD EDITION Most Important Ideas and Concepts from
Chapter 1 Nuts and bolts of computer networks. Computer networks consist of end systems, packet
switches, and communication links. End systems also called hosts include desktop PCs, laptops,
hand held network devices (including cell phones, PDAs, and BlackBerries), sensors, and servers
(such as Web and mail servers). Just as cities are interconnected by a network of roads and

Queuing delay and packet loss. Many packets can arrive at a packet switch roughly at the same
time. If these packets need to be forwarded on the same outbound link, all but one will have to
queue, that is, wait to be transmitted. This waiting introduces a queuing delay. Furthermore, if
the queue of packets becomes very large, the packet switch s buffer may become exhausted,
causing packets to be dropped or lost. Queuing delay and packet loss can severely impact the
performance of an application. Protocol layers. A typical computer network makes use of many
protocols easily hundreds. To deal with this complexity, the protocols are organized into layers.
These protocol layers are arranged in a stack. For example, the Internet organizes its protocols
into five layers namely, from top to bottom: application layer, transport layer, network layer, link
layer, and physical layer. The protocols of layer n use the services provided by the protocols at the
layer n 1 (the layer below). This abstract concept, 4 STUDY COMPANION FOR COMPUTER
NETWORKING, THIRD EDITION often difficult to grasp at first, will become clearer as we
delve into the different protocol layers. With the application layer as the highest layer in the
protocol stack, one can say that all other layers in the stack exist only to provide services to the
application. Indeed this is the case, as applications are the raison d ГЄtre for computer networks.

James Bond Sex And Violence Analysis
Within James Bond s universe, sex and violence are often the same thing.
James gun is used not as an extension of his penis, but as his penis. When in M tells him that he
is going to need a new gun because his old one no longer suffices, Fleming describes Bond s
relationship with his old gun using masturbatory terms, describing how Bond had dismantled the
gun and oiled it and packed the bullets carefully into the spring loaded magazine and tried the
action once or twice, pumping the cartridges out onto the bedspread in some hotel bedroom in Dr.
No, (025,), and in a celebration of pre existent vocabulary Bond can often be seen resting his hand
on the butt of his gun. (CR, 008)
Similarly, acts of violence are described in ways that invite the imagining of sexual acts. In the
testicular torture scene from Casino Royale, where cool Le Chiffre flogs Bond with a carpet
beater, only Fleming chooses to describe Bond s response to the torture rather than the torture
itself, and when reading the responses selectively one might think Bond s body is responding to
physical pleasure rather than pain. Fleming writes, Bond s whole body arched in an involuntary
spasm. His face contracted in a soundless scream and his lips drew right away from his teeth. At the

The Crusades were Christian soldiers who fought for the glory of God to protect their religion.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Virginia Heffernan
Headphones are so miniscule, but can have a significant impact on one s hearing. Listening to loud
music for long periods of time can lead to eternal hearing problems. The rhetor, Virginia Heffernan,
writes an article in the New York Times Magazine arguing why humans should limit the usage of
headphones. She explains the history of headphonesand the impact they have had on people who
use headphones, especially teens. Her message is to start minimizing headphone use because the
damage they can cause to hearing. Heffernan presents her argument regarding the use of
headphones in an ineffective way because she does not use a tone that is able to persuade the
audience.
Heffernan presents her argument in an informative tone instead of an argumentative tone. The tone
of any type of writing sets the attitude of the author. It is essential to create an arguing mood for
the audience. The language she chooses makes the reader feel as if she is just informing and
educating them on what headphones could do to humans. She needs to pretend she is in a debate
with someone else who is stating that the use of headphones has no correlation to hearing loss.
When Heffernan is writing, she needs to focus on the tone because she has great points, but the
argument is not persuading because she is using an informative tone. For example, she writes,
Headphones are packed with technology. When an audio current passes through the device s voice

The Effects Of Visual Merchandising And How Do They Affect...
Research methods are the various procedures, schemes and algorithms used in research (Rajasekar,
2013), whereas, methodology refers to philosophy that shape the diversity of the entire body of
knowledge (McGregor and Murnane). This proposal outlines the methodology and structure that
will be used to answer the researchquestion, what are the effects of visual merchandising and how
do they affect consumer purchase behavior in UK s food retail industry, particularly in, high end

Research Philosophy
For many centuries, philosophers have been debating about the relationship between data and
theory. It is important to understand the main philosophical choices underlying the management
research. This is because; firstly, it can help to clarify research design, that is, what kind of
evidence is gathered from where and how such evidence is interpreted in order to provide good
answers to the research question. Secondly, research philosophy helps the research to recognize
which designs will work and which will not. Finally, it can help the researcher to adapt research
design according to the constraints of different subject or knowledge structures (Easterby et al.
1991). A research project is considered to the power when it clearly outlines the epistemology
study of knowledge and what we accept as being valid knowledge, or philosophical basis, known
as a research paradigm (O Gorman and MacIntosh 2014). A paradigm is a set of assumptions,

Evolution Of Ballet Research Paper
The Evolution of Ballet
How has ballet evolved since popularized during the Italian Renaissance? Going back to
preschool, I have loved to dance. Ballet was the first style I learned, and it made me fall in love
with dance. My instructor this year often talks about what ballet was like when he danced (in the
1970s,) and also before then. One day, he explained to my class how girls used to dance on their
toes before pointe shoes were invented. I found it fascinating, so I decided to research more about
it after class. As I was looking up the history of the pointe shoe, I came across some websites that
explained the history of ballet and where it originated. Even after having danced for eleven years,
I realized there is so much that I do not know about it. There is more to ballet than going to class
and doing performances. Just as in any sport or hobby, it helps to know how it first started and how
it has evolved. To improve at anything, one must understand the fundamentals. By doing this

Benjamin s Philosophy Of Language And Translation
Benjamin s Philosophy of Language and Translation
Walter Benjamin s (1892 1940) thoughts and philosophy of language and translation are haunted
by ghost and influenced by Kabbalah, the Jewish mystical tradition. This can be seen in his
magna opera: On Language as Such and on the Language of Man (1916) and The Task of the
Translator (1923). The former essay deals directly with the linguistic theory; the latter is concerned
with the translation theory as a form of art. Benjamin s inspiration comes from both the death of
his close friend Christoph Friedrich Heinle (1894 1914) and Kabbalah.

known for his magnum opus, The Science of Combination of Letters. Abulafia develops a theory of
mystical contemplation of letters and their configurations, as they constitute of God s name...the
name of God which is something absolute, because it reflects the hidden meaning of the totality of
existence; the name through which everything else acquires its meaning (Wolin 40). According to
Abulafia s theory, all things exist only by virtue of their degree of participation in the Great Name
of God, which manifests itself through the whole creation (40). This suggests that language is not
merely a communication tool but goes beyond that to somehow participate in the divine nature,
wherein it serves as the vital link between man and God. Based on the Biblical teaching of
creation, Kabbalistic doctrine regards divine language as a substance of reality. God created the
world through language. Thus, the ultimate origin for all being belongs to the language of God.

Stereotypes And Perception Of A Worldview
Introduction In our first class we discussed that a worldview acts as a filter through which we
understand and perceive phenomena (Koltko Rivera, 8). This discussion was very important, as
understanding the meaning of the term worldviews laid the foundation on which the following
classes could be built upon. We don t see things as they are, we see them as we are (Koltko
Rivera, 3) was the statement that stood out most for me, it explained how we are each shaped
by our own personal experiences and therefore we each have our own unique way of viewing the
world. Stereotypes play a huge part in our worldview, they aren t necessarily a bad thing but they
aren t exactly good either. Stereotypes are a widely believed, oversimplified idea or belief of a
particular type of person, people or thing (Online Oxford dictionary). As people living in South
Africa, we come into contact with people from other cultures on a daily basis, so it is of vital
importance that we are able to identify stereotypes as stereotypes, and challenge and change them
if the need be. I think worldviews are an amazing thing, as much as it can be a conflict causing
issue, it also allows us to gain knowledge and helps us understand and empathize with other
people. Engaging with different people with different worldviews allow us to change the filters
through which we view phenomena and see them in a new, different light. Gender Worldviews
Before this class, I had considered feminism to be a bad thing.

The Importance Of Hunting In Missouri

Missouri Hunting/trapping animals
Missouri is a pretty big hunting state, having our own national forest and several plots of land
dedicated to just hunting is also pretty nice. Since we have so much forestry, why don t I teach
you a little bit about the wild animals that live in these deep valleys and cool springs, some of
these you might not see every day. During the 2015 2016 deer season, 274,447 deer were legally
harvested, this was a 7% increase from the 2014 2015 season, but a 3% decrease from the 10 year
average, but lately, the population has been dropping, this is due to severe disease outbreaks, a
changes in habitat availability. Deer population however has been slowly decreasing ... Show more

The coyote is a wild canine, sort of like the wolf, it s just much smaller than a wolf that you
would see in the more northern areas of the states/canada. The coyote prefers to hunt and live in
packs, this allows it to take down bigger game such as deer with ease. Coyotes in Missouri have
very faint red fur that surrounds their bodies, but on their back turns to more of a gray black
mix in color. The coyote will eat small game such as rodents, rabbits, fish and frogs, and larger
game like deer. When the coyote is not eating it s bigger prey, they will eat snakes, insects, fruit
and grass. Quiet weird dogs right? Never heard of a canine that eats

Epistemic Virtue And The Ecological Crisis Summary
In Byron Williston s essay, Epistemic Virtue and the Ecological Crisis , Williston examines Joel
Kovel s ideas on what it takes to get ahead in a capitalist society: To succeed in the marketplace
and to rise to the top, one needs a hard, cold, calculating mentality... None of these traits are at all
correlated with ecological sensibility or caring (Kovel, quoted in Williston, p. 250;252). Kovel s
ideal person is one that is always looking for deeds that are self serving. Kovel is implying that to
be successful in life, one must put morals as an afterthought in order to move ahead in this
capitalistic society. I disagree with Kovel statement, based on how Kovel s claims on how to be
successful is not true for all professions. Furthermore, I disagree with Kovel s statements that if
someone is successful, they cannot be environmentally sensitive, or possess the trait of being
caring by looking at the cases of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. When Kovel
states to rise to the top, one needs to have a calculating mentality, this may be true for some people,
but not all. Kovel is picturing the stereotype of the businessman , one who puts their career over
being emotionally caring and environmentally friendly. Yet someone s career

This leads me to conclude that Kovel believes that one must choose between being successful or
being environmentally friendly and caring. When looking at the example of Brad Pitt and
Angelina Jolie, both high paying actors and supporters of the environment, they are the parents to
six children (Roberts 2018). One would consider the raising of a child, shows that they contain the
caring personality trait. Therefore, Jolie and Pitt can be successful in their fields, sensitive about
the environment, and are still caring people, as they are parents. This goes against Kovel s idea of
what type of people Pitt and Jolie should

The Wireless Channel Is Different And Much More...
The wireless channel is different and much more unpredictable than the wire line channel because
of factors such as multipath and shadow fading, Doppler shift, and time dispersion or delay spread.
These factors are all related to variability introduced by mobility of the user and the wide range of
environmental conditions that are encountered as a result.
(i) Multipath Delay Spread
The multipath delay spread is the time dispersion characteristic of the channel. Each multipath
component is typically associated with different time delay and attenuation. The shortest of which
is the LOS path. The root mean square delay spread in multipath delay is denoted by П„_d and the
maximum spread in frequency due to Doppler shift, f_m.
(ii)Coherence Bandwidth
The coherence bandwidth, is a range of frequencies over which two frequency components have a
strong potential for amplitude correlation, and is used to define whether the channel fading is flat or
frequency selective.
(iii)Coherence Time
The coherence time, T_c describes the expected time duration over which the impulse response of
the channel stays relatively invariant or correlated. The coherence time is approximately inversely
proportional to Doppler spread (Sklar, 1997).
(iv)Admissions Control
A probabilistic admissions control protocol was employed to ensure sufficient transmission time is
reserved to accommodate an estimated number of retransmissions. The transmission time reserved
for retransmissions will vary

Tartuffe Essay
Tartuffe
In his most notorious play Tartuffe, MoliГЁre relates the story of an attempt, by a manipulative
hypocrite, to destroy the domestic happiness of a citizen who, charmed by his seeming piety, has
taken him into his home as a respectable guest. The play was disallowed after its first performance
because it was deemed anti religion. However this ruling was made unfairly since true religion is
never confounded with hypocrisy, but is upheld with warmth, which shows his characteristic hatred
of imposture in any shape.

Their zeal isn t excessive, and it never seems
The interests of God have pushed them to extremes.
These are my heroes. They re the men I think are great.
And they re the men whom I would want to imitate.
On first seeing Tartuffe performed in Versailles, the King immediately recognized and appreciated
its genius. He understood that it was strictly addressing hypocrisy, however concern about the play
began to grow as its performance moved to Paris. MoliГЁre s adversaries claimed that under the
fake motive of trying to expose hypocrisy, he actually sought to undermine the foundations of
religion itself. Pressure from the opposition, which included the Catholic Church, the archbishop of
Paris, the Queen Mother Anne of Austria, and the Company of the Holy Sacrament forced Louis
XIV to ban the play in Paris.
The argument could be made that The King s initial approval stemmed from the fact that Tartuffe
includes patronage in the form of not so subtle flattery and references to Louis XIV and his family
and associates, rather than the theme of hypocrisy versus sincerity. One instance of this being in
the final act where the King s authorities come to arrest Tartuffe for a history of swindling people
out of their fortune. The officer refers to his King as:
He sees things as they are; you ll find that wicked schemes

Case Study Of Jessie s Rehabilitation
Jessie had successfully completed his rehabilitation at the Riverdale rehab center in Arizona. He
decided to turn his life around and be better man, someone his 11 year old daughter Stacy could
look up to. As soon as he got out he started looking for a new job. He applied to several jobs that
morning and then drove to his former house where his wife, whom he is separated from, and his
daughter live. His daughter refused to speak to him and ran to her room. His wife told him that
he can no longer live with them and that he needs to get his life in order if he wants them to be a
part of it. He uses what little money he has to get himself a small motel room to stay in. Shortly
after making his way into the room there was a knock at the door. The... Show more content on

him and began talking. They explained to him why he was there and put up an offer on the table
for him. If he went undercover for them as a drug dealer and helped them lock up this notorious
drug dealer then they would help him out with work, a place to stay, and he would also get paid
for his undercover work. It was a tough decision to make, but Jessie couldn t turn it down so he

Later on that night he got his new identity. He had only 3 weeks to learn his character inside and

time go undercover. He began selling small things that he would get from the cops and soon
made a name for himself on the street. This one drug dealer Jason started coming around and didn

and how these have been used to create a learning program for Molly. It also describes the
pathophysiology of diabetes, Type II Diabetes and resources/ support services for the client s

It is the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits that will enhance well being while decreasing the
risk of disease. The six principles of wellness are social, emotional, spiritual, occupational,
intellectual wellness (Smith, Tang Nutbeam, 2006). The two principles of wellness are physical
wellness and social wellness. Physical wellness means ability to recognize the benefits of
physical activities and adopting healthy habits such as routine check ups of vital signs, a
balanced diet and exercise while avoiding the use of tobacco, drugs and excessive use of alcohol.
(Floyd, Mimms Yelding 2008). Second, social wellness is characterized by the ability of an
individual to connect with other people in the world and become aware of their importance in
the society as well as take an active part in improving our surrounding by encouraging healthier
living and build a better living space in the community (Hettler, 1976). Physical and social
principle of wellness should be promoted for Molly. Firstly, maximising her own ability to
increase her independence and confidence by engaging into daily routine activities. Secondly,
teaching her how to do exercise and adjusting her balanced diet by following the advice of the
health professional in order to cure the pressure ulcer. Thirdly, providing social supports to get

protagonists; Shakespeare s King Lear which was first performed in 1606 during the Jacobean era,
presents a patriarchal society. Whilst, Arthur Miller uses the characters in Death of a salesmanto

when he is contradicted Now, Willy, you never averaged... he still continues on with his façade
thus further emphasizing his delusional nature. He teaches his children that they should be liked
and you will never want, which implies that for Willy popularity is more important as it is this
that will deem how prosperous one is in business as that man is the man who gets ahead. This
contradicts the initial ideals of the American dream where you work hard in order to achieve
success, and hence could be used by Miller to indicate how futile the concept was as well as how
it lead to people conceiving inconceivable dreams He had the wrong dreams as mentioned by Biff
in the requiem.
Moreover, throughout the play the upbringing of Biff and Happy can be seen mirroring the
childhood of Willy and his older brother Ben. During the requiem, Happy feels it is his duty to
avenge his father in a way so Willy Loman did not die in vain. Did not provokes a strong feeling
of confidence that he will be the one to make his father proud after his death. Through the play
Happy is undermined by his father and seen to be second best to Biff; therefore him claiming to be
the one to win it for him could suggest that he s never overcome this feeling of neglect from his

Pediatric Vs Neonatal Research Paper
Neonatal vs. Pediatric
INTRODUCTION
As I am quickly approaching my high school graduation, the question of What are you going to
major in? What are you going to be? gets thrown my way very often. I had always known I
wanted to go into the medical field and be help to others but I never knew what. I threw around
the idea of becoming a pediatric surgeon, pulmonary pediatric doctor, or finally I came to the
consensus of becoming a nurse. Now, another question follows, what kind of nurse? I have jumped
around from specializing in Pediatrics or Neonatal. I am researching both careers very intensely to
determine which career I am most interested in and would like to pursue. I knew both careers are
very intense, it is not easy working with very sick and weak kids. ... Show more content on

Some are able to become a registered nurse within 4 years and other can complete it in 2 years.
The great thing about this career is the great amount of flexibility that comes with it. For
pediatric nursing it begins with the bare minimum of receiving a Bachelor of science in Nursing
is a four to five year program ( How Many Years in College to be a Pediatric Nurse? ). It is always
advised to receive the most schooling and experience possible to really ensure there is a future
in the career. Perusing additional schooling such as a Master s degree will only take an
additional 1 2 years of school. On top of that there is nursing school that also takes 1 3 years.
School work for a nurse consists of a very vigorous course load of mathematics and different
types of sciences. The minimum amount of time schooling could take to become a registered
nurse is 4 years. Adding on top of that the years of training and experience needed to pursue
nursing in a specialty is another 1 2 years. When working with children it is required to take a
psychology course and children s development course throughout

Physics Of A Magritek Nmr Spectrometer
A Magritek NMR spectrometer along with MNOVA software was used to obtain the 1H NMR
spectrum by inserting an epi tube containing CDCl3 solvent with 60mg of dissolved 4 bromo N
4 (chlorophenyl)methylene] benzenamine from the purest sample obtained from the reaction
using molecular sieves into the spectrometer. Once the tube was inserted, proton protocol was
selected with parameters of CDCl3 as the solvent and it underwent a quickscan to acquire the
spectrum. When the scan was completed the spectrum was transferred to the MNOVA software
for process, label, integrate, and summarized the collected peaks. The IR spectrum was obtained
using a different machine since the Magritek NMR spectrometer used only produced 1H and
13C NMR spectrums from samples placed in an epi tube. The IR spectrum was recorded using a
Nicolet iS5 FT IR spectrometer and OMNIC software. A small about of sample was placed on
the ATR crystal and pressure was applied to allow for the clearest spectrum possible. Infrared light
was emitted by the pressure device to penetrate the sample and produced the necessary peaks to
identify the structure. First, the background without the crystal being in contact with any pressure
or sample was collected, but not saved to the spectrum; hence, only the spectrum of the sample
itself was displayed for the sample s spectrum. When the actual sample s spectrum was collected,
the peaks were found by the OMNIC software by choosing the button find peaks. The only IR

  • 4. Short Term Effects Of The Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution The industrial revolution began in the eighteenth century and had a massive impact on the world. Some of the impacts negative and others positive. The impacts that followed from the industrial revolution affected the world on both a long term and a short term scale. One of the short term positives to the industrial revolution was the amount of jobs produced. Factories would employ hundreds of people looking for work. The work was hard and the pay was not great but the workers were grateful that they had a job. Economic boom was another positive short term for the upper classes. The upper class factory owners would pay the factory workers, the workers would then look for a cheap place to stay. A number of workers had... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Transport is one of the most notable positive long term impacts of the industrial revolution. Because the industrial revolution produced so much money, extra money was put into inventions. One major invention is the steam train. The steam train was a useful for transporting people as well as cargo such as products that the factories produced or the materials that were used in the factories to make products. Another great outcome of the industrial revolution, is the efficiency of work and producing things. If things were still made the same that cottage system made them, it would not work as they could not keep up to global demands. The economy has gone up due the flow on effect of the industrial revolution. Education has improved and so have the working conditions. No longer can the employer pay the worker little to nothing for hard work, minimums have been set and work safety has been improved dramatically. • 5. Special Needs Of Prisons In The Prison System The Problem A major issue facing the prison system and society is the fact that prisons are not equipped to meet the needs of older prisoners and older prisoners are not adequately prepared to renter society. The aging population in the prison system is an underserved and often ignored population. Neglecting to provide adequate care for this population is a societal error that negatively impacts not only the prisonpopulation but society as a whole. Prisons are typically used for rehabilitation purposes. Current policies that force prisoners to remain incarcerated well into old ageneed to be reviewed to assess for alternative solutions that respect the dignity of the aging population and are beneficial to society as well. We must proceed with a question in mind, is the purpose of the prison system to act as a rehabilitation/punishment system or a revenge /punishment system? Older prisoners are considered to be a special needs population according to the Handbook on Prisoners with Special Needs, created by the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime. Special needs groups have detailed guidelines to aid in the appropriate treatment of special needs groups such as older prisoners, but these guidelines are not typically enforced. One major issue aging prisoners face is that prisons are not structurally designed to accommodate people with limited mobility and other disabilities. Issues with mobility and disability are often unavoidable results of the aging process. Outside ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These four measurements are simple ways to categorize different types of variables. This paper will discuss the usage of each scale. Nominal Nominal scales are the most commonly used in marketing research. Nominal scales are used for labeling variables, without any quantitative value. • 7. Victor Frankenstein As A Monster Mary Shelley describes how the behaviors of the characters in the story led to their downfall. In Frankenstein, the main character, Victor Frankenstein is very irresponsible and naГЇve. His creation, the monster is hideous and hopeless. When Victor was a young child, science was his favorite subject because he was fascinated with experiments. He enjoyed and continued reading outdated books by Agrippa to expand his knowledge in science, even though his father discouraged him to do so. Victor was determined to fulfill his desires because he wanted to create his own innovation that would benefit society. After Victor had become a student at the University of Ingolstadt, he locked himself in the laboratory and worked hard to prove his theory on creating human life. When his creation was nothing like Victor imagined, the start of his self destruction begins. While both humans and machines rely heavily on information to acquire knowledge, machines are more sensible under any circumstances. Victor Frankenstein is introduced as an ambitious young man who aspires to be a scientist that finds answers to all his questions. According to Shelley (2003), I opened it with apathy; the theory which he attempts to demonstrate, and the wonderful facts which he relates, soon changed this feeling into enthusiasm (34). The Effect of Birth Order on Learning and Development Birth order is a topic studied by many psychologists through numerous different studies and conflicting viewpoints. In respect to the order in which children are born, psychologists have labeled specific personality traits for each child. While psychologists continue to disagree on the amount of emphasis to be placed on birth order and personality, studies have shown family size can be a determining factor in a child s learning and development. First born, middle, youngest, and only children are the common birth order positions most commonly studied by psychologists. Alfred Adler, a major personality theorist, often studied the issue of birth order. He believed that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The youngest children tend to be less adjusted than middle born children, are most likely to experience feelings of inadequacy. Only children tend to desire being the center of attention, have feelings of inferiority, and tend to be selfish in regard to sharing personal belongings. Although these personality traits are widely accepted, a national sample by the Academic Advancement of Youth of John Hopkins University found little relationship between birth order and personality. However, a mild relationship between birth order and perfectionism was evident, (Parker 29). Family size is more commonly accepted as a contributing factor to birth order positions. If birth order is held constant, the larger the size of a family tends to be represented by a lower average IQ. First born, as well as only children are often believed to have superior intellectual development, which can be explained by the greater amount of attention and verbal attention given by parents. This makes sense because parents of first born and only children are able to focus more of their time with these children. A 1997 survey discovered the impact of a siblingborn during the preschool and early grade school years. The first born child was significantly affected by the birth of a sibling, which resulted in an increase in emotional problems leading to an increase in behavioral problems during the first year. Chief s Magic Review Chief s Magic takes you back in time where the classic 3 reel slot machine ran wild, and uses Native American visuals to stand out from other similar titles in the genere. With a single payline being featured, along with three pre defined paytables, Chief s Magic is a very simple slot game experience without the usual wild icons and scatter symbols in the mix. With three single BAR logos you get a payout of 3x your wager, but three double BAR logos give you a payout of 5x your wager, and three triple BAR logos give a payout of 10x your wager, while mixing and matching combinations of the three can double your starting wager. For instance, two single BARs with a double BAR following is still a winning spin in Chief s Magic, though you would get the minimum winning payout. Nothing but a Dud Besides what has been highlighted before, there is not much to the game and we are stuck wondering why the icon with the game s highest value, the titular chief, is not featured as a substitute wild icon. Having only one payline, this won t have a massive effect to make it a must play for any players interested, but at the very least it would add some type of action and excitement. Putting it simply, Chief s Magic is a dud when it comes to bonus features. Looking for Brighter Fortunes This is probably not the best of Microgaming s releases, as it appears to not have power where it is most needed. Even though they have the same meanings in the dictionary, something sounds different here. Home is where you find yourself the most comfortable, where you feel like you are not alone and it is where you know that you leave everything behind when you enter. For the author, his language is his home; when he speaks in Armenian or hears someone speaking in Armenian, he knows that they have a common home, a sharing. He clearly mentions that despite the harshness of life, or difficulties he has, he can still feel safe as he knows the other one he speaks to is proud of him and loves him unconditionally. Many of us feel the same way in our own lives; when we have a common point with someone else, we somehow start to develop a relationship between each other. The author, with his words, is emphasizing that the common point among all the Armenian people is their language; what reminds them of their past again, and makes them closer to each other to protect ... • 16. Essay on Oil in Texas How did the national demand for oil affect the local businesses in Texas, and how did Texas oil discoveries affect the national oil market? As the Texas oil industry grew, so did related industries. Some companies began producing oil by products such as petrochemicals. Others produced pipelines, barrels, and oil field equipment. As these companies began moving into oil towns such as Houston, Beaumont, and Port Arthur, they further expanded the local economies. Some moved into small towns, quickly turning them into cities. In North Texas the town of Wichita Falls grew from 8,200 residents in 1910 to about 40,000 in 1920.The state income also increased from just over $101,000 in 1906 to $5.9 million in 1929, largely due to the oil... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gradually, the oil glut began to affect ordinary Texans. Soon after Spindletop, the availability of an ocean of cheap oil encouraged its use as fuel for transportation and manufacturing. After railroads converted from coal to oil, steamships followed, led by those operating in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. As automobiles became more common, roads began to be paved across the state. Mechanization of farm work increased quickly, enabling farmers to produce more food with fewer people. Manufacturing plants developed in the formerly agricultural state, using cheap oil as fuel. Texas population scales, heavily weighted toward the rural before Spindletop, started to balance, and by 1940, the population was almost even: 55 percent rural and 45 percent urban. World War II tipped the scales, however, when wartime jobs at manufacturing plants in the cities lured large numbers of people from farms and small towns. Most never returned. This displacement of farming families was exacerbated by the absorption of many family farms into large corporate operations. Increasing numbers of migrants from other states and foreign countries also settled principally in urban centers. By 1980, the state was four fifths urban. War Themes John Marsden s novel Tomorrow When the War Began and the 2013 film directed by Brian Percival The Book Thief shares a variety of similar themes that are constantly portrayed throughout these texts. The 3 main themes that are shared between the novel and film were the theme of war, friendship, and hope. War is a centered theme that causes characters to develop and mature while the theme of friendship brought them together, strengthening their bonds and finally, the theme of hope represented the optimistic ideas of the characters, through literary techniques in the novel and cinematic effects in the film, the texts successfully exhibited the protagonists overcoming their ordeals during horrific circumstances. The theme of war is a significant part of both the novel Tomorrow When the War Began and the film The Book Thief . Although these texts are different in many ways, they both focus on the similar theme of war, this is shown throughout the course of the novel and the film. In John Marsden s novel Tomorrow When the War Began , 7 teenagers are faced with the harsh reality of war when they return home from their camping trip. Furthermore, the recharging of groundwater aids in drought mitigation. Freshwater ecosystems play a similar role to water treatment plants in that they filter out pollutants and purify water. Was charged with violent indecent assault aggravated by a public office, the fact alone that he was a bus conductor, as a public officer. Our law speaks of bodily harm or threats of bodily harm, there must be real or perceived bodily harm. What is essential is that this threat must necessarily be an influence on the victim s mind. Violence can be used against a thing in so far as it instils fear of further harm to one s self. The violence and the threat has to be such that it instils fear into the victim. Heffernan presents her argument in an informative tone instead of an argumentative tone. The tone of any type of writing sets the attitude of the author. It is essential to create an arguing mood for the audience. The language she chooses makes the reader feel as if she is just informing and educating them on what headphones could do to humans. She needs to pretend she is in a debate with someone else who is stating that the use of headphones has no correlation to hearing loss. When Heffernan is writing, she needs to focus on the tone because she has great points, but the argument is not persuading because she is using an informative tone. For example, she writes, Headphones are packed with technology. When an audio current passes through the device s voice coil, it creates an alternating magnetic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Clayton County Population Health Case Study Among all the factors that are attributed to population health, the environment is perhaps the greatest. It is common knowledge in public health that if the physical environment is unhealthy, so is the population that live there. Even though the many of the environmental issues are being addressed by the State and County authorities, Clayton County is experiencing a slow rate of change. While the air pollutionparticulate matter is declining, it is currently at 13.2, which is higher than the national average of 9.5, and the 12.8 for the state s average.2 In addition, this county has drinking water violations and severe housing problems. As a result of these and other environmental issues, Clayton County ended up with a county ranking of 159 out of 159.1 This is not a good thing for the population of Clayton County.... As with the environment, this health factor is also a great indicator of the health status of a population, because if babies are not being born or are dying prematurely, this can have long term economic consequences and population decline. Therefore, it is paramount that much efforts are put into lowering infant mortality rates According to State of Health Report, Clayton County ranked high in infant mortality in the State of Georgia. In addition, it ranked highly in premature births and low birth weight. The most current data show the infant mortality rate to be 9.2, premature birth at 11.0 percent, and low birth weight at 10.4 percent among all ages and races.6 These disparities are much greater among the various age group and race. Because the issue of maternal and child health is such a major factor in the overall health of the population of Clayton County, the focus will be centered on the issues of infant mortality and the magnitude of the problem confronting the population of this ... • 37. The Effects Of Visual Merchandising And How Do They Affect... Research methods are the various procedures, schemes and algorithms used in research (Rajasekar, 2013), whereas, methodology refers to philosophy that shape the diversity of the entire body of knowledge (McGregor and Murnane). This proposal outlines the methodology and structure that will be used to answer the researchquestion, what are the effects of visual merchandising and how do they affect consumer purchase behavior in UK s food retail industry, particularly in, high end supermarket, Sainsbury s Plc. Research Philosophy For many centuries, philosophers have been debating about the relationship between data and theory. It is important to understand the main philosophical choices underlying the management research. This is because; firstly, it can help to clarify research design, that is, what kind of evidence is gathered from where and how such evidence is interpreted in order to provide good answers to the research question. Secondly, research philosophy helps the research to recognize which designs will work and which will not. Finally, it can help the researcher to adapt research design according to the constraints of different subject or knowledge structures (Easterby et al. 1991). A research project is considered to the power when it clearly outlines the epistemology study of knowledge and what we accept as being valid knowledge, or philosophical basis, known as a research paradigm (O Gorman and MacIntosh 2014). • 38. Evolution Of Ballet Research Paper The Evolution of Ballet How has ballet evolved since popularized during the Italian Renaissance? Going back to preschool, I have loved to dance. Ballet was the first style I learned, and it made me fall in love with dance. My instructor this year often talks about what ballet was like when he danced (in the 1970s,) and also before then. One day, he explained to my class how girls used to dance on their toes before pointe shoes were invented. I found it fascinating, so I decided to research more about it after class. As I was looking up the history of the pointe shoe, I came across some websites that explained the history of ballet and where it originated. Even after having danced for eleven years, I realized there is so much that I do not know about it. There is more to ballet than going to class and doing performances. Just as in any sport or hobby, it helps to know how it first started and how it has evolved. To improve at anything, one must understand the fundamentals. By doing this research, I can gain ... No data had to be collected, and the research involved no experiment. Catherine de Medici was born in Italy during the Italian Renaissance. • 40. Benjamin s Philosophy Of Language And Translation Benjamin s Philosophy of Language and Translation Walter Benjamin s (1892 1940) thoughts and philosophy of language and translation are haunted by ghost and influenced by Kabbalah, the Jewish mystical tradition. This can be seen in his magna opera: On Language as Such and on the Language of Man (1916) and The Task of the Translator (1923). The former essay deals directly with the linguistic theory; the latter is concerned with the translation theory as a form of art. Benjamin s inspiration comes from both the death of his close friend Christoph Friedrich Heinle (1894 1914) and Kabbalah. Benjamin s writing underwent a change after Heinle s death in 1914. His suicide at nineteen years of age was incredibly traumatic for Benjamin. Benjamin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Scholem, Kabbalah was not just another theory of language but an extraordinary opening up within Jewish tradition of the notion of revelation (Handelman 18). Not surprisingly, Benjamin and Scholem believe that language has a divine origin and the experience of revelation is a linguistic one. Benjamin finds another source of Kabbalistic insight in the writings of Abraham Abulafia (1240 1291), who is considered the most remarkable figure in the prophetic Kabbalah. He is best known for his magnum opus, The Science of Combination of Letters. Abulafia develops a theory of mystical contemplation of letters and their configurations, as they constitute of God s name...the name of God which is something absolute, because it reflects the hidden meaning of the totality of existence; the name through which everything else acquires its meaning (Wolin 40). According to Abulafia s theory, all things exist only by virtue of their degree of participation in the Great Name of God, which manifests itself through the whole creation (40). This suggests that language is not merely a communication tool but goes beyond that to somehow participate in the divine nature, wherein it serves as the vital link between man and God. Based on the Biblical teaching of creation, Kabbalistic doctrine regards divine language as a substance of reality. God created the world through language. Thus, the ultimate origin for all being belongs to the language of God. Divine language ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Stereotypes And Perception Of A Worldview Introduction In our first class we discussed that a worldview acts as a filter through which we understand and perceive phenomena (Koltko Rivera, 8). This discussion was very important, as understanding the meaning of the term worldviews laid the foundation on which the following classes could be built upon. We don t see things as they are, we see them as we are (Koltko Rivera, 3) was the statement that stood out most for me, it explained how we are each shaped by our own personal experiences and therefore we each have our own unique way of viewing the world. Stereotypes play a huge part in our worldview, they aren t necessarily a bad thing but they aren t exactly good either. Stereotypes are a widely believed, oversimplified idea or belief of a particular type of person, people or thing (Online Oxford dictionary). As people living in South Africa, we come into contact with people from other cultures on a daily basis, so it is of vital importance that we are able to identify stereotypes as stereotypes, and challenge and change them if the need be. I think worldviews are an amazing thing, as much as it can be a conflict causing issue, it also allows us to gain knowledge and helps us understand and empathize with other people. Engaging with different people with different worldviews allow us to change the filters through which we view phenomena and see them in a new, different light. Gender Worldviews Before this class, I had considered feminism to be a bad thing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Epistemic Virtue And The Ecological Crisis Summary In Byron Williston s essay, Epistemic Virtue and the Ecological Crisis , Williston examines Joel Kovel s ideas on what it takes to get ahead in a capitalist society: To succeed in the marketplace and to rise to the top, one needs a hard, cold, calculating mentality... None of these traits are at all correlated with ecological sensibility or caring (Kovel, quoted in Williston, p. 250;252). Kovel s ideal person is one that is always looking for deeds that are self serving. Kovel is implying that to be successful in life, one must put morals as an afterthought in order to move ahead in this capitalistic society. I disagree with Kovel statement, based on how Kovel s claims on how to be successful is not true for all professions. Furthermore, I disagree with Kovel s statements that if someone is successful, they cannot be environmentally sensitive, or possess the trait of being caring by looking at the cases of Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. One would consider the raising of a child, shows that they contain the caring personality trait. • 44. The Wireless Channel Is Different And Much More... The wireless channel is different and much more unpredictable than the wire line channel because of factors such as multipath and shadow fading, Doppler shift, and time dispersion or delay spread. These factors are all related to variability introduced by mobility of the user and the wide range of environmental conditions that are encountered as a result. (i) Multipath Delay Spread The multipath delay spread is the time dispersion characteristic of the channel. Each multipath component is typically associated with different time delay and attenuation. The shortest of which is the LOS path. The root mean square delay spread in multipath delay is denoted by П„_d and the maximum spread in frequency due to Doppler shift, f_m. (ii)Coherence Bandwidth The coherence bandwidth, is a range of frequencies over which two frequency components have a strong potential for amplitude correlation, and is used to define whether the channel fading is flat or frequency selective. (iii)Coherence Time The coherence time, T_c describes the expected time duration over which the impulse response of the channel stays relatively invariant or correlated. The coherence time is approximately inversely proportional to Doppler spread (Sklar, 1997). (iv)Admissions Control A probabilistic admissions control protocol was employed to ensure sufficient transmission time is reserved to accommodate an estimated number of retransmissions. Pressure from the opposition, which included the Catholic Church, the archbishop of Paris, the Queen Mother Anne of Austria, and the Company of the Holy Sacrament forced Louis XIV to ban the play in Paris. The argument could be made that The King s initial approval stemmed from the fact that Tartuffe includes patronage in the form of not so subtle flattery and references to Louis XIV and his family and associates, rather than the theme of hypocrisy versus sincerity.
