Shaniqua Adams Scholarship
I Shaniqua Adams, a senior mass communication major with an emphasis in Radio
and Television Broadcasting and Journalism, believe I deserve the NNPAF journalism
scholarship for numerous of reasons. My academic achievements, leadership skills,
determination, my love for journalism, financial need and motivation for collegeis
part of the reason why I believe I am a great candidate for this scholarship. I set
forth a great deal of exertion into everything that I do. I do my best in any and
everything. When I set goals for myself, I give it my best shot to accomplish them
and on the off chance that I happen to miss the mark regarding my goals then I value
realizing that I gave a valiant effort. I am exceptionally persevering in my studies and
Irish Dance
I was only a toddler when I first saw Irish Dance, but even then I knew I wanted to
be an Irish Dancer. This was an odd choice for mainstream American culture
pressures young girls to practice ballet, for all other dance forms are seen as either
irrelevant, or as the support for a different art form. Irish Danceis only reverent year
round in Irish Catholic communities of which I am not a part. Therefore, it took time
to convince my familyto drive to a southern suburb for my dance lessons. At first, I
tried to make myself a dancer, but it became rather clear, to those who saw my
dancing, that I needed lessons. Thus, before my second year of preschool, I began
training. For the next ten years, I was an Irish dancer. During that time, I

Introduction
The World Wide Web has changed our culture in so many ways. People are able to
do so many activities over the World Wide Web, it is unbelievable. You can pursue a
degree through online universities, communicate with users around the world,
purchase goods and services online, and yes, you can bank and pay your bills online.
This new technology has enabled us to make payments, maintain a checking/debit
card account, balance transfers, all via the web. You can maintain your entire
financial portfolio through online banks that provide this feature. There are online
banks that can provide interactivity between popular financial management software
programs, such as Quicken and Microsoft Money. When using... Show more content

Disadvantages of online banking include the amount of time it takes to create and
authorize your account. In most cases, you will be required to visit the local branch
to sign verification papers and provide authentic identification. I must say I disagree
with the article calling this a disadvantage. It is certainly not convenient, but I would
not call it a disadvantage. The learning curve is listed as a disadvantage. Online
banking sites can be very difficult to navigate, especially for new users.
Finally, and probably the most obvious, is the issue of trust you have in your online
banking facility. How secure is the transmission of my private information? How can
I be sure the transaction went through? Who else will have access to my information?
This trust issue and skepticism of security is by far the biggest concern of potential
online banking consumers. The Ponemon Institute is dedicated to studying ethical
information management practices and research. The institute conducted a survey
this year entitled Privacy Trust Survey for Online Banking with 2,300 participants. In
the institute s research, it is found that eighty two percent of banking consumers say
identity theft is their main concern. The next two biggest concerns are telemarketing

Persuasive Essay On Building A New School
In recent (and not so recent) years, there has been many conversations about
reform throughout our school and county. This has obviously been somewhat of a
controversy in all layers of the local populus; among teachers, students, parents,
and other concerned members of the community. The reform bill was (in the
simplest terms) about whether or not to build a new school. While this would be
great in theory, even though I would not be able to enjoy it as I am graduating this
spring, I feel like it s possibly too much. If we would really like to reform this
school then we should focus not on building a completely new school, but instead
focus on fixing the one we have.
The number one best way of improving the school from the inside is focusing on the
small things first. Most people will have a different idea of the best place to start, but
I personally think that the best place is the restrooms.
In 1907 paper towels were invented for use in public restrooms to reduce the risk of
spreading illnesses spread by using normal cloth towels. While we obviously do not
have this issue anymore because we now have options for hand drying beyond a
communal cloth hand towel or even paper towels. Hand dryers came about more
recently, having only just under 70 years ago become popularized, advertised for
their water evaporating capabilities and for being more cost effective than paper
towels. The hype around hand dryers has only snowballed over these 70 years;
claims that hand dryers are

A Beautiful Mind By Russell Crowe
Russell Crowe s portrayal of John Nash in A Beautiful Mind was a relatively
accurate depiction. It displayed many of the various obstacles one would have to
face in the event that they were diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. However,
there were certain inaccuracies that could have been fixed. If a modern clinician were
to treat Nash s schizophrenia, they would apply multiple factors into a treatment plan
that would be most beneficial to him.
Movie Summary A Beautiful Mind takes place in New Jersey, and opens in the year
1947. It is about John Nash, whom at the time was a young college student from West
Virginia studying mathematics at Princeton University. Since the beginning of the
movie, John had trouble in social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This idea turned into a concept that would allow Nash to go nearly anywhere with
many scholarships at hand (Howard, 2002). After many years, Nash obtained his
doctorate and started working and teaching classes for MIT. He became highly
regarded in his field, and in 1953, he was sent to the Pentagon to break a code that
America had received from Moscow. After this, he was approached by a man
named William Parcher. He told Nash that he had to do more code breaking to try
and find the location of various Soviet bombs. Nash then believed that Parcher
placed a radioactive tracer in his arm (Howard, 2002). While working as a teacher,
Nash met a woman named Alicia Larde. Alicia was a student in Nash s class, and
they had a connection. He invited her to a party that would take place at the
university, and Alicia helped Nash in various social affairs that night, and this
brought more affection between the two. They stayed together, and eventually got
married (Howard, 2002). While working and teaching, Nash did work for Parcher
by decoding hidden messages in newspaper and other publishings. He would then
send his results in the form of letters in which he would drop off from a specifica
drop box on private property. In October of 1984, Nash believed Parcher picked
him up and they were being chased by another car, and they were being shot at.
After this, his paranoia increased drastically. Every car he saw he became suspicious
of who was behind the wheel. He
The Italian Renaissance s Life And Life Of Filippo...
Filippo Brunelleschi The Italian Renaissance, ranging between the 1400 s 1600 s,
was a time that continued classicism in culture, art, and architecture. Architecture in
particular applied classical vocabulary and forms to contemporary building functions
and types. Many well known individuals helped shape this period of time,
Brunelleschi included. Not much is known about Filippo Brunelleschis early life. He
was born 1377, the second son of Ser Brunellesco Di Lippo Lapi, in Florence, Italy.
While growing up in a political household, due to his father holding a distinct
notary position, expectations were held high for him to follow the same path as his
father. He was even given a formal education fit for that lifestyle. Though going
against expectations, Brunelleschi followed in his brother s footsteps to become a
goldsmith and joined the Silk Merchants guild. It took him a total of six years to be
awarded the title of master. He gained experience not only as a goldsmith but also in
sculpting and mechanics. In 1401, a contested sponsored by the Wool manufacturers
Guild was publicly announced. It called for new bronze panels on the Baptistery
doors. Seven candidates entered the competition but only Filippo Brunelleschi and
Lorenzo Ghiberti succeeded in becoming finalists. Everyone was given the same
material and subject, the Sacrifice of Isaac, but their final piece couldn t have been
any more different. Brunelleschi s design featured a more humanistic approach with

Review Of Al Davis Behind The Raider s Shield By Al Davis
Al Davis behind the Raider s Shield is a biography of Allen Davis. He was
considered by people to be a football legend. This biography was written by his
former employees Bruce Kebric and Jon Kingdon, with Steve Corkran, a sports
writer. Al Davis, as he was fondly called, was the owner and the general manager of
the Oakland Raidersfootball team. Al from Brooklyn, New York, he often bragged
about how tough his neighborhood was growing up. He extremely loved the
football games and about his team, the Oakland Raiders. He was a man who
recognized who he was and commanded respect everywhere he went. He generated
the image he wanted the public to see. He was highly respected and feared by many
people in the NFL.

The narration shifts to the first person point of view at several times. The authors
vividly described their opinion of whom they believed Al Davis was. It was
clearly evident that although they respected and even revered him, they disagreed
with his believes and his method of leadership. He was superstitious at times. He
was mostly autocratic in his leadership. He frequently ignored his scouts and his
coaches. He implemented decisions he thought was best and he never settled for
less. He didn t follow their advice. I admired Al s strength and determination. He
had many inspirational quotes like, All I do is win and Just win baby win . He
never discriminated against anyone based on their sex or color or background. He
was the first NFL owner to draft an African American quarterback, the first to hire a
Latino coach and the first to hire a female as his chief executive. It was evident that
he was not racist or sexist. I learned some terms used in football like running back and

Much like The Vale Kingdom in Game of Thrones, which experienced a power
vacuum following the death of Jon Arryn, Iraq has been plagued by a power vacuum
following the death of its previous leader. Before the US invasion in 2003, Iraq was
a fairly successful country. While they did indeed have problems, their monarch

the Iraq Iran war and invasion took a heavy toll on the Iraq, things started to look

discusses how The invasion of Iraq was a perfect storm predicated on [many]
suppositions , many of which could have been avoided, he says. The two most
pushed reasons for the invasion were the war on terrorism and the removal of
Saddam Hussein (Hanson). Hussein was the seen as the epitome of corruption and
therefore had to be removed. Senators from both parties and numerous world leader
agreed with this reasoning. While many had other interests in the region, the war on
terror was the international cover up they all used (Henke 122). Whether or not this
decision was a mistake is up for debate, but the real mistake the US made, was

International Operations management and corporate strategy:
Operations management of an International business needs to be integrated with the
firm s corporate strategy. The central role of operations managementis to create the
potential for achieving superior value for the firm. If operations management takes

considerable value for the firm. However, if it requires Rs. 140 worth of inputs to

The arguments that support vertical integration and the risks associated with
outsourcing. The risks of outsourcing are incidentally the supportive arguments for
any decisions to make.
Reasons for Outsourcing:
1. Strategic flexibility switching orders between suppliers as circumstances dictate
2. Cost reduction
3. Focus on core competencies
4. Minimize inventory, materials handling, and other non value added costs.
5. Reduce development and production cycle times
6. Improve efficiency
7. Possibility of obtaining orders from the country where suppliers are located.
Risks of Outsourcing
1. Loss of control
2. Conversion costs
3. Possibility of being tied to obsolete technology
4. Exposure to supplier risks; financial strength, loss of commitment to outsourcing,
slow implementation, promised features not available, lack of responsiveness poor
quality
5. Loss of protection over proprietary technology
6. Denial of the possibility of specialized investments
Trade offs is always involved in make or buys decisions. The benefits of
manufacturing components in house seem to be very strong when highly specialized
assets are involved, when firm is simply more efficient than external suppliers at
performing a particular activity.
When these conditions are not present, the risks of strategic inflexibility and
organizational problems suggest that it may be better contract out manufacturing
components to independent suppliers. Since issues of strategic flexibility

It is clear that with increased Chinese purchasing power, businesses need to
understand China s middle classes, which today are better educated, better traveled,
more informed and more demanding. Predicting a growing number of buyers in the
middle to upper classes, many luxury and sport car brands are also heading to China
either through joint ventures or increased imports, such as Mercedes Benz (JV),
BMW (JV), Porsche (import), and Land Rover (import). A potential problem faced by
many auto firms is the asymmetric distribution of China s population and income.
Competition in major cities (i.e. Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen) has been
accelerated in almost all market segments (including economic, middle priced, and
luxury cars) because of population concentration and relatively advanced
industrialization, which indirectly causes the overcapacity problem in coastal auto
firms. The nation and its auto firms need to work together in exploring inland
demand market and in improving the general living quality. Overall, growing
domestic demand becomes a source of competitive advantage in China s auto
industry. The national government is working cooperatively to promote domestic
auto expenditures. The growing middle class group creates more sophisticated private
customers than institutional buyers. Auto firms

Blood Wedding By Federico Garcia Lorca
In 1930s Spain, the ritual of marriage became highly controversial as the 1931
Constitution allowed for divorce to be legal. This caused debate between older and
younger generations. The elders of society still had their beliefs deeply rooted in
the views of the Catholic Church , which did not allow for divorce. Nonetheless, the
younger generation was more prone to giving into desire and therefore was more
open to the idea. The play Blood Weddingby Federico Garcia Lorca insinuates the
strong importance of ritual in the 1930s. Due to this, in the play, ritual is revered
and ironclad while desire is shunned. When Leonardo comes to the wedding of Bride
the clash between desire and ritual is made evident. Nonetheless, ritual is made...

However, when Leonardo whisks Bride away, ritual is threatened. Lorca also
shows how desire should be kept hidden away in society by the running away of
Bride and Leonardo being made off stage. He shows that people would rather
pretend that desire does not even exist making their running away hidden
signifying that. Additionally, the setting of Act 3 adds to the feeling of desire.
Forests have been known in plays to be a place of surrealism. Leonardo and Bride
get married in the forest as their ability to be together is like a dream come true for
them and it would not be possible anywhere else. In any other place, ritual would
have had more precedence and strength because society endorses it due to the beliefs
of the Catholic Church. All in all, desire is not imperative to society in the play and
in that time period.
Blood Wedding portrays ritual excessively; even the title Wedding is a religious
sacrament. Thus, it should come as no surprise that Lorca encompasses ritual into
the hunting down of Leonardo and Bride. As soon as everyone learns that the two
are gone, Mother dispatches people to go look for them and says, It s come again:
the hour of blood (p. 44). From this phrase, one can see that the hour of blood has
come before. It is an accepted ritual to hunt down and kill a runaway bride or
anyone who challenges ritual. No one is disturbed by the impending murder because
it is a tradition a way of living. Desire has

The Battle Of The Crusades In The Song Of Roland
In the epic poem, The Song of Roland the tale depicts the Battle at Rencevaux in
which the protagonist is betrayed and serves as a martyr to justify the Crusades. The
Crusades were a medieval military expedition by the Roman Catholics to purge the
Muslims from the Holy Land. With this definition of the Crusades, one can conclude
that the Song of Rolandshould not be considered apart of the Crusades as the poem
s context is historically inaccurate, written long after the events, and lacks a
credible source. Instead, this depiction should just be considered as a folk tale that
was used to drive the crusaders to keep fighting. The story of heroism in this poem
was no doubt a motivational tool that inspired soldiers to persevere and uproot the
Muslims from the Holy Land. The Song of Roland dates back to early 12th century,
in the midst of the Crusades. The original battle was called the Battle of Roncevaux
Passwhich took place in 778 AD, long before the epic poem dates back to. For one
to even consider this poem as the first battle of the Crusades the poem would have
be written relatively soon after the battle. Some scholars speculate that the poem
was written around the time that the battle took place but there is no evidence to
support their theory as the only written copies date back between 1129 and 1165
AD. These dates place the written poem in the middle of the Crusades.
Furthermore, this strengthens the idea that the poem is not a accurate description
of what actually happened on that day. Instead, this epic poem was written for
another purpose, the purpose of inspiring the current knights of the glory and
honor that can be gained from this Holy War. With the date of the Song of Roland
being nearly four hundred years after the actual battle one could see the potential
problems with the details of the story. Having no previous records, experts aren t
sure whether the epic poem was changed on purpose, or if parts of it were forgotten.
Although the tale conveys a sense of heroism and pride, it there are many details
that are historically inaccurate. For example, in the Song of Roland , the author
describes the opposing forces as Saracens . This term Saracen is used by many
authors at the time

Knights In The Canterbury Tales
People have fantasied for ages about how it was to be a knight in medieval times.
Knights have a huge reputation of being the heroes of impossible tales and for
having a great admiration of the women of the court. It s not hard to imagine why
people have put so much historical importance on knights and their heroic deeds.
For how many people have slayed a dragon and saved the princess from the short
life of being a dragons mealtime appetizer. Many people have tried to explain why
knights did what they did but no one was able to explain it as well as Geoffrey
Chaucer. Chaucer uses the knights tale in his The Canterbury Tales to explain the
complex relationship between a knight and his woman of the courts.

The Eradication Of Research Misconduct
In our society today there seems to be extensive competition involving research and
being the first group or the first individual to discover valuable information. This
leads to a great amount of research misconduct involving clinical research and
deception to the public. This is unacceptable because it possesses potential to directly
affect the general public. Unfortunately there has been monumental misconduct in
clinical research that has directly affected the general population. The eradication of
research misconduct is inevitable unless there is a serious change of policy and how
those policies are enforced. Research misconduct is a problem all around the globe,

Plagiarism is actually the most common type of misconduct. We also discussed the
potential danger of research misconduct along with the reasons why researchers
chose to partake in research misconduct. The reasons involved avoiding setbacks
and protecting the researcher s credibility, but none of these reasons seem to be
equal to the risk of losing credibility. Scientific fraud seems to be appearing in all
fields ranging from paleontology to nanotechnology. Along with this, certain
surveys show that 40 percent of researchers were aware of the misconduct (Gupta

misconduct but only a few techniques have been proven to be effective. The most
impressive one seems to be the changing of policy. A change of policy on research
misconduct or the introduction of an investigation committee would make it harder
for researchers to fabricate data to avoid setbacks along with making it extremely
clear that consequences will be harsh. There have been an uncountable amount of
precautions recorded that were basically an attempt to end research misconduct, and
many of them proved to be effective. This has been a problem that affects a
majority of the globe including Iraq where Shirin Dijalalinia experimented quite a
bit with misconduct policies before she discovered a effective policy. In her article,

Science depends on research. Consider our limited opportunities our lives are brief;
our vision is limited; and we can make huge mistakes, when it comes to events we
think were before Bible history. Here are a few examples:
How often the supposed deductions from some scientists are revised or cast aside;
With what readiness the assumed period of the earth s development is from time to
time increased or diminished by millions of years;
How the theories advanced by different scientists conflict with one another,
Considering all this, do we prefer to trace our descent from germs and mollusks
and apes when we could have an infinitely better genealogy: God created man in His
own image, in the image of God created He him ? Genesis 1:27.
We will look at some scientific evidence below, but first we see Bible history is
supported by the science of archeology back to Genesis 11. a chapter with the Towel
of Babel that is the basis of the European Union poster, Europe: Many

Essay about The Pride of Othello
The Pride of Othello
In Shakespeare s Othello, Othello s pride prevents him from finding the truth,
eventually leading to his demise. Initially, Othello and Desdemona are deeply in
love, despite her father s disapproval of their marriage. However, when Othello
promotes Cassio instead of Iago to Lieutenant, Iago has his revenge by convincing
Othello that Desdemona cheats on him with Cassio, destroying the marriage between
Othello and Desdemona. Othello grows to meet his downfall when his trusted friend
Iago causes him to think that his wife Desdemona is unfaithful.

Othello s and Desdemona s love holds true. They cannot stand living apart for a
long period of time. Brabantio also knows that Desdemona will only show her
loyalty to Othello, so he would rather have her away with Othello than home with
him. Much later, Othello and Desdemona again show each other their love. Othello
plans revelry for the evening in celebration of the defeat of the Turks and in
celebration of his marriage to Desdemona. Once the celebration begins, Othello
leaves Cassio on guard and departs to consummate his marriage: Come, my dear

me and you (II.iii.9 11). Othello only wishes for the best from his new marriage
with Desdemona. He shows no sign of any desire for anything bad to happen.
Othello s and Desdemona s marriage stays free of problems because their love for
each other stays strong.
However strong Othello s and Desdemona s marriage seems, it begins to deteriorate
as a result of Othello s self pride. At first, Iago convinces Othello that Desdemona is
unfaithful. Iago suggests to Othello that Desdemona slept with Cassio. Iago uses a

Problems Faced By Nursing Shortages And Staffing Issues
Abstract
Patients in all hospitals in the United States should receive excellent care and
prompt service. There are many Hospitals in the United States of America facing
nursing shortages and staffing issues. This paper will focus on ways to alleviate
short staffing in my current place of employment. Using interview questionnaires as
my primary research, and scholarly peer reviewed articles as my secondary form of
research I concluded that there are many options hospitals have while trying to
improve on staffing. Many problems can arise when a hospital runs short staffed.
Patient safety, nurse burnout, and patient satisfaction are all issues faced in the
nursing field. Medication errors, patient falls, wrong procedure site, and inaccurate
charting occur when nurses are understaffed and do not have time to focus on their
patient and their tasks. When nurses are understaffed and have eight patients each it
s hard to keep up with what the patients are doing when you leave the room. Patient
satisfaction is another key factor hospitals need to think about when understaffing
their units. When patients do not receive quick service, not only do they have more
complaints, but they could possibly be suffering from pain also. This is the number
one complaint patients have while being hospitalized. When staffing is corrected
these errors can be avoided and nurses can care for their patients the way their
patients deserve to be cared for. Hospitals can offer nurses incentives or

major retailing company that was founded in 1902 in Minneapolis, Minnesota by
George Draper Dayton. It is ranked the second largest discount retailer in the United
States and ranked thirty sixth on the Fortune 500 as of 2013. The Target Corporation
has been serving this nation with the best price possible goods since their expansion

The second approach is having a management team whose interests are aligned with
shareholders. Executives are subject to stock ownership guidelines that require them
to hold specified multiples of salary in target stock. Incentive compensation
opportunities are based on goal levels of performance that are approved by
independent directors, aligned with Target s objectives and disclosed to shareholders.
The third and final approach is using mechanisms that provide accountability to
shareholders. According to corporate governance page Target adopted a majority
voting standard for uncontested director elections in 2007. Shareholders holding
10% or more of Target s stock have the right to call a special meeting of
shareholders. The retailer maintains an open door policy in order to receive feedback
from shareholders on governance as well as other matters important to shareholders.

While Target is more of a high end discount store, from walking through any one of
the locations one could easily get the feeling that the company is putting forth a lot

young adults in their mid 20 s and early 30 s. Many of the customers in this targeted

The Tao Te Ching, By Lao Tzu
The Tao Te Ching is a 81 chapter book written by Lao Tzu. It s wisdom is entirely
immortal and focuses mostly on the theology of Taoism and explaining how Tao is
part of our lives and how we as people can become part of the Tao. In the 81st
chapter of the book, Lao Tzu describes to us a village of people and how they live
their lives. In my analysis of this chapter I have come to agree with Lao Tzu in that
this is the way that enlightened people live their lives and that living any other way
than this will only lead to conflict A small country has fewer people.Though there are

survive and that our lives will be better without all of the extra parts and all of the
trumpery. I can t really say that he is wrong. All of that extra stuff seems to lead to
conflict. When you have a nice car, other people want your car and sometimes they
will hurt you and steal your car so that they can be happy because they now have
that car and now other people will be impressed that they have that car. You want
to make more money so that you can buy nice things for yourself because you want
to impress others and make yourself feel better from that. When you have a nice
house it leads people to want that house and the things in the house and your life
will be filled with conflict. You will live more happily knowing that you have only
what you need and that the people around you care but will not intrude in the life
you live, and that once you find a place where it is possible to get only what you
need that you will forever be happy. The body is designed to survive and when you
force it to do more than is necessary to survive, it becomes discontented with the
way it lives and it requires more to make it happier and that you will have to get

Analysis Of Singin In The Rain
The film Singin In the Rain is directed by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen
premiered in 1952 with the lead as Gene Kelly himself as Don Lockwood, his
counter part Debbie Reynolds as Kathy Selden, and best friend Donald O Connor as
Cosmo Brown. The film portrays the studio Monumental Pictures performers going
through the transition of silent films to talkies. This musical comedy has many
different aspects of mise en scene regarding blocking, how the filmwas shot, and
costumes. In the infamous Singin In the Rain number, Gene Kelly s talented
theatrical performance, the blocking of the other characters walking into the scene,
and simple pattern of film shots that match the non diegetic tempo resulted in
continuity editing making this whole musical number flow perfectly.
This scene first starts off with Don Lockwood kissing Kathy Selden after he has
walked her home on a rainy night. After she leaves, Lockwood is filled with joy
about falling in love that even on a rainy day he says, From where I stand, the sun is
shinning all over the place. The scene later starts to play non diegetic score with

As Lockwood is dancing and singing to the number, each cut following that pattern
is made to produce a continuity editing effect so we follow his every move. This
simple pattern shows the character being overjoyed with love and each cut takes
place with the change of stanzas making it flow and the editing look invisible. For
example at the beginning, it starts off with a wide angle shot of Lockwood walking
along the sidewalk, then it dollies to a medium close up shot showing him close the
umbrella, and then back again to a wide angle shot when he starts singing. As he
sings each line, each shot continues to follow the pattern of the three throughout the

Conversion Of A Lawn Mower Essay
Conversion of a lawn mower to generator.
INTRODUCTION:
The lawn mower used had a 3.5 Horse power Briggs and Stratton 4 stroke gas
engine. That particular model motor has a safety shut off lever on the lawn mower
handle which has a cable attached to the motor, and the attached cable must be
activated to disengage the motor shut off break and to allow spark to reach the
spark plug. What was decided was to cut the cable off and deactivate the motor shut
off feature. If the motor has this feature, the cable will have to be observed and also
the levers on the motor to figure out a way to deactivate or preserve the feature. In
both cases the motor will not start unless something is done about the cable and
levers.
A small hole was discovered in one of the lever plates on the side of the engine, the
cable was then pulled, and a small nail was then inserted into the lever to keep the
mechanism from retracting and shutting off the motor. As stated earlier, it will take a
bit of time to figure out how the motor shut off mechanism works (if there is one
installed on the motor).
PROCEDURE:
The first step is to remove the motor from the lawn mower base. Typically, there are
3 or 4 bolts holding the motor to the base, but before they can be removed, the
mower blade and the shaft coupler that holds the blade on the motor shaft will need
to be removed. Getting the blade and the coupling off is slightly difficult, but
removing the blade is not nearly as difficult, however still requires a

Gazprom shares are the most liquid in terms of sales and account for 15 percent of

Public Housing During The Nineteenth Century
Have you been in a stage in your life that leaves not only you but your children as
well on the street with nowhere to go? If you re family is not making enough money
and you need assistance from the government, Public Housing may be the thing you
need. Public housing are homes that are owned by the government and in some cases
by private landlords who give low income citizens a home. Public Housing was
created in between the nineteenth and twentieth century in hopes to decrease poverty
rates from inclining. The Industrial Revolution caused poverty that led to sickness
and death to rise which convinced the government to create this subsidy. As in the

housing is not open to all, only those who meet their criteria. The age does not
matter in this situation because things can happen at any age. For example, if you
get pregnant at an age of 16 and are left alone, you may need public housing to be
able to provide a home for your child. Even though the age does not explain the
population, the special problems and special diagnosis of clients do. The clients
who are most likely to get public housing are those who have a special diagnoses
such as an illness or a disability who makes the person unable to work. For
example, a 19 year old who is a dependent can injure themselves to the point where
you can no longer work. Another special problems are being an elder, being laid

Differences Of New England And Southern Colonies
As more and more Europeans moved to the New World, colonies were created for
specific groups of people. Colonies were created for varying religions, lifestyles, and
economic reasons. The New England colonies had numerous difference and few
similarities with the Southern Colonies. These differences created distinct features of
the regions and the people who lived there. Due to the geographic location of the
Southern Colonies, their economic development relied mainly on agriculture. Being
closer to the equator than New England, the south received longer planting seasons
and also had good soil for planting. The Southern Colonies mainly produced corn,
rice, and tobacco, which were very valuable exports. Unlike the Southern Colonies, in
New Englandthe soil was worse and often times the areas were rocky, often making
it much harder to plant and even be profitable. The South was very reliant on African
slaves for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Naturally, they stayed this way, and their lives were centered on their religion. One
of the New England colonies, Rhode Island, even granted complete religious
tolerance, a first of its kind. The Southern Colonies were settled for an economic
gain of the settlers. For example, when the colonists first arrived in Jamestown, a
number of them immediately started to look for gold. In the Southern Colonies,
there was little religious tolerance and the colonies were mainly Anglican and
Baptist. Religion wasn t central to life in the Southern Colonies but still influenced
its followers. The presence of religious toleration in the New England Colonies
helped steer people of minor faiths to immigrate to the New England colonies from
the Old World and within the New World. The New England colonists were usually
more dedicated to religion, where the Southern Colonists seemed to care more about
economic growth and opportunity than practicing
Conformity In Ken Kesey s One Flew Over The Cuckoos
Nest
Merriam Webster defines conformity as action in accordance with some specified
standard or authority . As it is a type of influence that involves change in belief or
behavior in order to fit into a group. Where in Ken Kesey s One Flew Over the
Cuckoo s Nest, conformity is a matter of life or death. In the noveland in life,
conformity is viewed as an easy way to shape into society s mold. Societal
expectations are shaped by the so called Combine a mysterious and in the dark
figure that is view as the puppeteer of the way society functions. In the Novel, Chief
Bromden a long time patient at a psychiatric ward is the first to recognize the
Combine and its powers. At the same time that this novel was written, the society of
the 1950s was being challenged by a group known as the beat generationwho wanted
to reject and challenge the stringent norms that the majority deemed as appropriate
and necessary. While many members of society supported the beliefs of conformity,
in many ways the need for societal misfits was vital to secure a community where
all people would have a voice. While many did their best to challenge the Combine,
in the end the Combine would prevail, but the ideas of those who spoke out would
resonate with others. The Combine is an unstoppable force fueled by conformity, but
Ken Keseyexplains that the only way for progress in the novel (and society) is for a
McMurphy type of character to challenge the Combine.
In the 1950s, there was this prevalent

Repurpose Software You Already Own
Repurposing in general as a concept is beneficial. The positive points here are that
money is being saved by using already owned software. Also the creativity of using
one tool to solve business problems. However, one negativity is that it might impede
productivity. For example, if a writer decided to use Word Pad which is the text
editor bundled with Microsoft Windows to write a novel instead of using Microsoft
Word, he will be saving money but productivity is lost because Word Pad is not as
powerful is Word when it comes to professional writing. However, old software
might not be secure after a while (Andress, 2011).

Cobalt 60 or also known as co 60 is one of the many isotopes of the element, Cobalt.
Cobalt has 28 isotopes other than Cobalt 60, these include: Cobalt 47, Cobalt 48,
Cobalt 49, Cobalt 50, Cobalt 51, Cobalt 52, Cobalt 53, Cobalt 54, Cobalt 55, Cobalt
56, Cobalt 58, Cobalt 59, Cobalt 60, Cobalt 61, Cobalt 62, Cobalt 63, Cobalt 64,
Cobalt 65, Cobalt 66, Cobalt 67, Cobalt 68, Cobalt 69, Cobalt 70, Cobalt 71,
Cobalt 72, Cobalt 73, Cobalt 74, Cobalt 75 and Cobalt 76 (Jefferson Lab, n.d.). Co
60 is a synthetically produced radioisotope with a half life of 5.27 years (Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2014). It decays through beta particles and
gamma radiation (CDC, 2005). Cobalt 60 decays into stable isotope, Nickel 60
through beta minus decay (radioactivity.eu.com, n.d.).
SAFETY ISSUES
Cobalt 60 can be very dangerous to human health. If ingested or inhaled, the
majority of co 60 is excreted in the feces and the rest is absorbed into the blood and
tissues, mainly the liver, kidneys and bones (CDC, 2014; United States
Environmental Protection Agency [EPA], 2015). As co 60 is involved in ionising
radiation, all co 60 that is absorbed by liver, kidneys or bone tissue can cause
cancer and because it decays by gamma radiation, this results in an increased risk of
cancer in comparison to other radioisotopes along with skin burns, acute radiation
sickness, or death. In occasional circumstances, medical or industrial radiation
sources are lost or stolen
Kenyas Foreign Policy
FOREIGN POLICY The conduct of foreign policy in Kenya is a prerogative of the
Head of State the Chief Executive (President). These powers are rested in the
Presidency by section 16 of the Constitution of Kenya, Amendment Act No. 28 and in

articulator and director of foreign policy. This applies universally and is not unique to
Kenya. The Foreign Ministry s responsibility is that of advice and execution in
consultation with the President Several individuals, institutions and organizations

Hospitality Management At Florida International University
INTRODUCTION
According to Professor Marcel R. Escoffier, an Associate Professor in the School of
Hospitality and Tourism Management at Florida International University, Hospitality
Management is the largest business activity in the world. There are nearly 1 million
food service operations in the United States, and nearly three hundred thousand hotels.
It is estimated that there are over 1 million hotels and more than 7 million food
service businesses. How this business operates, and its impact on the local economy
varies from country to country, but its importance is undeniable (Escoffier).

Many colleges that offer Hospitality Management may also include the option to
enroll within a specific concentration, so that you may gain a specialty . Therefore
it s important to have a sense of what area of hospitality you are interested in, so
that you enroll yourself into an appropriate program, including programs where
graduates have been able to secure employment in your interested field and location.
For example, if you have the desire to work as a ski lodge manager, you may want to
make sure you enroll into a school that provides the focus of the hotel industry and
potential internship opportunities within ski country vs. the beaches in Florida.
In effort to continue a higher learning education within the field of Hospitality,
which may increase my career options as I enter the workforce, I have reviewed
three colleges within the New York State area that provides a Bachelor s degree
within Hospitality Management. The purpose of this evaluation and comparison is to
provide the most feasible and economic option available for me to pursue a Bachelor
Degree within Hospitality in a timely fashion and at minimal cost. Therefore my
criteria for this comparison includes the following:
Type of Concentration that is offered
Tuition Cost
Acceptance of Transferred Credits
Testing/Entrance Requirement (i.e. GPA, GRE, Math Requirement)
Career Track Opportunities Accreditations

Roy, S Reactions To Conflict In Bernard Malamud s The
Natural
Although Roy is the main character Bernard Malamud s The Natural, we are not
directly told of his past. It is up to the reader to piece together the puzzle and
interpret why Roy acts and responds in the way he does. Roy s mysterious past
makes his responses to conflict the most interesting aspect of this book. There is a
presence of conflict throughout the entire text: adversity with The Whammer ,
Bump, Gus, Memo, the Judge, and his own mental state. Although Roy reacts to
conflict in a variety of ways, the reactions themselves are fueled by one motive.
Roy s overall responses to conflict originate from his devastating past and family
life, in addition to his need to prove to himself that he has purpose. Although we
are not specifically told of Roy s past, Malamud gives away small hints and details
towards what has occurred. It is revealed that Roy was not fond of his mother, and
that she had a bad influence on him. Roy describes his mother as a whore that
spoiled [his] old man s life (Malamud 179). He goes on by saying that she did not
love anybody, including himself. Roy only lived with his mother for the first
seven years of his life, followed by him moving in with his grandmother. After his
grandmother passed away, he was forced to live in an orphanage. One of the first
characters that is presented as someone Roy looks up to is Sam, and shortly after he
is brought into the picture, Roy witnesses him perish. All of Roy s father figures, his
biological father, his

Capturing the Friedmans
Home movies are about innocence our lost fuzzy, glowing personal pasts, all
horseplay, and funny hats and the promise of youth (Cooper, 23). Andrew Jarecki s
remarkable film, Capturing the Friedmans captured just what is clearly a case study
of extreme family dysfunction through such home videos. At first Andrew Jarecki
just wanted to do a nice little documentary about clowns. He decided to try film
making and thought he would cut his teeth on something easy like birthday party
clowns. He had met David Friedman a top childrens birthday party clown from
Manhattan, New York. Much to his surprise David... Show more content on

It was also in this search that the inspectors began to have suspicions that the
crimes could have involved local children who came to the room for music lessons
and computer classes. Jarecki successfully emphasizes the situation leading up to
Arnold s arrest that he gives the audience such imagery of what was in Arnold s
house that we start to believe that he is guilty of sex crimes. With notable skill,
Jarecki and his editor Richard Hankin, have interwoven the family movies with
interviews of the Friedmans, relevant police officials, postal inspectors, some
lawyers, and specialists of several kinds (Kauffmann, 25). Jarecki uses editing for
persuasion. As the film begins and starts to get going we are exposed to numerous
interviews that both support and oppose Arnold and Jesse. Jarecki favorably edits
opposing points of view together in order to emphasize the complexity and moral
underpinnings of the case. For example the shots when Arnold and Jesse are
arrested, during those scenes we see and hear from their lawyer Peter. From there
we see views of their trial and views of the lawyer. Andrew Jarecki also keeps the
issue of guilt and innocence darkened with the use of editing. As in the part of the
film David talks about how his
Baptist Interview Essay
Throughout time, Christianity has been divided into many different
denominations. I, myself, identify as a Baptist. Therefore, I decided to interview a
Catholic priest, in order to gain a better understanding of its practices, so that I
could compare and contrast the Catholic tradition to my own Baptist tradition. I
chose to complete this particular project because I have a lot of family members
and friends who practice Catholicism. It is important to me that I become more
knowledgeable about Catholicism so that I will no longer be ignorant to the
conversations of Catholicism when talking to others. In order to successfully fulfill
the requirements of this project, I reached out to one of my Catholic friends. After
telling my friend about my project, he agreed to take me to his church, which
ultimately led me to being able to interview a Catholic priest about their religious
practices. The interview itself was mind blowing because I never knew how similar,

While both religions fall under Christianity, they both believe in the Trinity, which
says that God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Catholics and Baptists
also believe in God s plan to save the world of sin by sending his Son, Jesus Christ.
In both religions, Jesus, though he was the divine Son of God, was born in flesh
to the Virgin Mary, crucified and died on the cross, and rose again from the dead.
Baptists and Catholics alike say that the Bible is the word of God and that it
accurately tells history, while also correctly prophesying things to come. Baptists and
Catholics agree that the Ten Commandments are held as moral rules for us all to live
by. They also agree that men and women should be united in marriage before

John Lewis Reflection
Mahatma Gandhi died nearly seventy years ago, and Jesus Christ died over two
thousand years ago; yet their powerful message still continues to inspire lives. One
example of someone who was deeply touched by the teaching of Gandhi and Christ
is John Lewis. In March: Book one, written by John Lewis and Andrew Aydin, we
can clearly see how Lewis incorporated Christianity and Gandhi s ideas of peaceful
protest into the civil rights movement. The book tells an eventful story of John
Lewis life. As Lewis grew up, his faith strengthened and he began involving
himself in the civil rights movement. He played a major role in desegregating
department store lunch counters by using Gandhi and Christ s ideas of loving
your enemy. Although significant people John Lewis had met, such as Martin
Luther King, clearly played a key role in developing his character, it is evident
throughout the trilogy that the people who impacted John Lewis the most were
those he had never met. The teachings of Jesus Christ and Mahatma Gandhi appear
to have positively influenced Lewis life in ways no one he met had. It is obvious
that John Lewis was clearly a Christ follower. This is evident throughout both book
one and two. All through John s life, from when he was not even able to read, to
when he was older and able to write his own book, John stayed true to his faith in
God. He states, Growing up, what I really wanted to be was a preacher. My uncle
gave me a bible when I was four (Lewis and
How to Plan the Perfect Party Essay

How to Plan the Perfect Party When you decide to have a party, you must realize
that the people you invite are there to have a good time. If you do not plan the party
correctly and your guests do not enjoy themselves, they may never come back to one
of your get togethers. Take this into consideration when planningthe event even if
making the necessary arrangements becomes time consuming and tedious. No matter
what, remember how important it is to take the time to plan your party step by step.
The steps you must take in order to plan the perfect party are to first identify the
theme, second calculate your budget, and lastly make the final touches in order to

However, if hiring a DJ is out of your price range, resulting to something as simple
as playing music from your computer or iPod will suffice.
The second main step in planning the perfect party is identifying what the theme of
the party is going to be. The theme of the party can vary anywhere from a birthday
party to a costume party. After you have successfully identified the theme for your
party, you will then need to decide who you want to invite. When deciding on who
you would like your guest to be, refer back to your theme. For instance, if you are
planning a birthday party for a five year old, the majority of your guest should be
other children around that age. After that, count how many guests will be attending
the event because this will be important in your next step; revisiting the locations
that you chose. Choosing a location is not only important when calculating your
budget but also when identifying your theme and the amount of guest there will
be. For example, you would not want to plan a baby shower at a bar because that
environment is not suitable for a baby shower. The number of guest is also crucial
to know because you do not want to plan a party at a location that will not provide
enough space for your visitors. Now that you have a theme, guests, and a location,
the next step is to decide what type of decorations to use.
Effects Of Bulimia On Teenagers
Bulimia s effect on teenagers Eating disorders are not a consequence of only one
source, they are caused by different factors. Physiological, psychological, social and
cultural circumstances are the main sources of these diseases. Anorexia and
bulimia are the most common diseases among teenagers. Anorexia is the needless
loss of weight; it is more commonly presented in teenage girls. On the other hand,
Bulimia can be described as the action of binge eating followed by purging.
Bulimia is a severe issue among society due to the reason that it affects a big
portion of the adolescent population of the world. The effects of bulimia range
from physical to mental issues. Bulimia is caused by many factors. The most
important one is low self esteem from the teenagers; they compare themselves to
the many different images of perfection social media displays to them. Social
pressure, or peer pressure, has a significant effect on the teenage minds and often
drives teenagers to develop symptoms of bulimia. Toxic social environments can
range from the classroom to their own home. Often times what might appear to
others as harmless criticism can be extremely detrimental to a teenager s self image
and cause them to develop symptoms of bulimia. According to studies conducted by
the Mayo clinic simply being a female teenager significantly increases your chances
of developing bulimia. In the modern day, teens admire and pursue the path of
several famous people. The majority of
Analysis Of Blue Collar Brilliance And Hidden
Intellectualism
Blue Collar Brilliance and Hidden Intellectualism Many people consider book
smart the only form of intelligence, but a lot of people who attended college and
obtained a degree can t perform a basic task of changing a flat tire. So does that
make those people unintelligent? Mike Rose explains in Blue Collar Brilliance and
Gerald Graff explains in Hidden Intellectualism that there are many different forms of
intelligence. In Rose s article, he explains how he observed his mother along with
other family members work blue collar jobs. He explains how everyone involved
with blue collared work develops a sense of intelligence in many different forms. In
Graff s article, he explains how schools and colleges are doing a poor job at getting
the full potential out of students. Graff thinks that if we give students things they like
to read then they will progress to more scholarly readings. Both authors describe how
society doesn t value all types of intellectualism. Rose explains how people are
stereotyping blue collared jobs and not appreciating them. Graff explains how schools
and colleges aren t fostering intellectualism because they don t take interests into
account.
Society s view on intelligence is becoming watered down from the truth. In Rose s
article, Blue Collar Brilliance Rose discusses societies outlook on intelligence.
Rose explains how society thinks blue collared jobs don t involve any intelligence,
and anyone can do a blue collared job. He explains how society thinks that since
you don t have to have a high education to perform well in blue collared jobs, it
takes little to no intelligence. Rose says, We reinforce this notion by defining
intelligence solely on grades in school and numbers on IQ test (Rose 279). Rose
explains that even though most blue collared jobs don t require a college degree,
they still demand many forms of intelligence. Rose also explains how his brother
dropped out of school in the ninth grade but eventually became a successful
employee of the company General Motors. In Graff s article, Hidden Intellectualism
he explains how there are many students in today s world who have an outstanding
amount of street smarts but are failing school. He explains
Summary Of Functional Network Connectivity
How does activity in certain brain regions affect neurodevelopment disorders? In the
journal article Functional Network Connectivity: Possible Biomarker for Autism
Disorders (ASD) , this question is tested using certain experiments on the brain to see
how activity throughout the lobes correlate with autism. Autism SpectrumDisorder
(ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that affects social interaction and
communication often impairing individuals for a lifetime. Magnetoencephalography
(MEG) is one type of tool to image the brainconnections by measuring the magnetic
fields generated by the brain s neurons. This method was used both to a group of

This creates a negative learning environment and it is impossible to teach with no
classroom control.I referred to this in my learner autobiography where the two
teachers were compared and the bad teacher had no classroom control. Before
teaching practice also reflected on the implications of being too strict in class. I
have had teachers in the past who only concentrated on discipline in the class. The
main focus was not learning, as long as the class were well behaved the teacher
was happy. I asked myself is complete control in the classroom more important than
discipline? Yet I didn t want to be a pushover in the classroom. Learning activities
cannot take place effectively in a classroom full of 30 pupils unless you are given
authority to control, manage and as and when appropriate (P 86. Essential teaching
skills, Kyriacou, 2007) I assumed in my own head then that I need to be very strict
with the pupils inside the classroom and decided not to tolerate any form noise. I felt
that this would help my teaching in the classroom as I could teach in a classroom
without constantly having to tell pupils to be quiet. I assumed that when pupils are
being quiet that they are focusing on the lesson and would be engaged in the
activities. I made this decision but hadn t reflected on the negatives associated with it
before I went out on teaching practice. As a result I had to learn through my teaching
about the assumption
Why I Am Grateful For Rowing
Why I am Grateful for Rowing
When I first joined the Texas Rowing Center, I had no idea that six months later my
life would revolve around rowing. At first, I was extremely apprehensive, because I
knew that committing to rowing would mean giving up over ten hours of precious
time a week to make space for practice. However, the decision has paid off in
innumerable ways, including the fact that rowing practice is now the highlight of
every day.
Rowing has helped me make new friends. Before I joined rowing, almost all of my
friends were from school. Now I have another way to connect with lots of people,
some of whom have become great friends. One example of a wonderful friend I have
made on crew is my friend Hannah. We are the same age, ... Show more content on

Although I can run three miles pretty fast, and I wanted to race the other fast
people on my team, I decided to stick with the slow group and help them get
motivated instead. I hated having to walk half the way, but it was helpful for me
to experience a leader. I had to practice a lot of patience. I was also elected team co
captain, which means I have a lot of organizational responsibilities as well. I feel
like Abbey, our coach, really respects me as a leader in the group. I am so thankful
for the chance to lead my peers somewhere other than at school. Being in a different
environment leading different people presents a whole new set of challenges and
benefits.
Rowing forces me to challenge myself and push my boundaries. I am especially
grateful for Abbey pushing me. She never lets me take the easy way out. If she
weren t there, I would probably not try as hard and not improve as much. When I
erg all by myself, it s really hard to get motivated, but whenever I erg at practice I
always want to show Abbey how well I can do. Even when I think I m doing my
best, she always tells me to go harder and drop my split lower, and I always find
that I can. Rowing has made me work harder than I thought possible, push farther
than I believed I could, and hurt more than I thought I could take. Through all that, I
am constantly inspired to push harder every day of practice. I love to get in the boat
and get started, and every new workout just makes me want to

This was an odd choice for mainstream American culture pressures young girls to practice ballet, for all other dance forms are seen as either irrelevant, or as the support for a different art form. Irish Danceis only reverent year round in Irish Catholic communities of which I am not a part. Therefore, it took time to convince my familyto drive to a southern suburb for my dance lessons. At first, I tried to make myself a dancer, but it became rather clear, to those who saw my dancing, that I needed lessons. Thus, before my second year of preschool, I began training. For the next ten years, I was an Irish dancer. During that time, I

People are able to do so many activities over the World Wide Web, it is unbelievable. You can pursue a degree through online universities, communicate with users around the world, purchase goods and services online, and yes, you can bank and pay your bills online. This new technology has enabled us to make payments, maintain a checking/debit card account, balance transfers, all via the web. Disadvantages of online banking include the amount of time it takes to create and authorize your account. In most cases, you will be required to visit the local branch to sign verification papers and provide authentic identification. I must say I disagree with the article calling this a disadvantage. It is certainly not convenient, but I would not call it a disadvantage. The learning curve is listed as a disadvantage. Online banking sites can be very difficult to navigate, especially for new users. Finally, and probably the most obvious, is the issue of trust you have in your online banking facility. How secure is the transmission of my private information? How can I be sure the transaction went through? Who else will have access to my information? This trust issue and skepticism of security is by far the biggest concern of potential online banking consumers. The Ponemon Institute is dedicated to studying ethical information management practices and research. The institute conducted a survey this year entitled Privacy Trust Survey for Online Banking with 2,300 participants. In the institute s research, it is found that eighty two percent of banking consumers say identity theft is their main concern. The next two biggest concerns are telemarketing abuse and unauthorized
  • 5. Persuasive Essay On Building A New School In recent (and not so recent) years, there has been many conversations about reform throughout our school and county. This has obviously been somewhat of a controversy in all layers of the local populus; among teachers, students, parents, and other concerned members of the community. The reform bill was (in the simplest terms) about whether or not to build a new school. While this would be great in theory, even though I would not be able to enjoy it as I am graduating this spring, I feel like it s possibly too much. If we would really like to reform this school then we should focus not on building a completely new school, but instead focus on fixing the one we have. The number one best way of improving the school from the inside is focusing on the small things first. Most people will have a different idea of the best place to start, but I personally think that the best place is the restrooms. In 1907 paper towels were invented for use in public restrooms to reduce the risk of spreading illnesses spread by using normal cloth towels. While we obviously do not have this issue anymore because we now have options for hand drying beyond a communal cloth hand towel or even paper towels. Hand dryers came about more recently, having only just under 70 years ago become popularized, advertised for their water evaporating capabilities and for being more cost effective than paper towels. The hype around hand dryers has only snowballed over these 70 years; claims that hand dryers are

It displayed many of the various obstacles one would have to face in the event that they were diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. However, there were certain inaccuracies that could have been fixed. Filippo Brunelleschi The Italian Renaissance, ranging between the 1400 s 1600 s, was a time that continued classicism in culture, art, and architecture. Architecture in particular applied classical vocabulary and forms to contemporary building functions and types. Many well known individuals helped shape this period of time, Brunelleschi included. Not much is known about Filippo Brunelleschis early life. He was born 1377, the second son of Ser Brunellesco Di Lippo Lapi, in Florence, Italy. While growing up in a political household, due to his father holding a distinct notary position, expectations were held high for him to follow the same path as his father. He was even given a formal education fit for that lifestyle. Though going against expectations, Brunelleschi followed in his brother s footsteps to become a goldsmith and joined the Silk Merchants guild. It took him a total of six years to be awarded the title of master. He gained experience not only as a goldsmith but also in sculpting and mechanics. In 1401, a contested sponsored by the Wool manufacturers Guild was publicly announced. It called for new bronze panels on the Baptistery doors. Seven candidates entered the competition but only Filippo Brunelleschi and Lorenzo Ghiberti succeeded in becoming finalists. Everyone was given the same material and subject, the Sacrifice of Isaac, but their final piece couldn t have been any more different. A potential problem faced by many auto firms is the asymmetric distribution of China s population and income. Competition in major cities (i.e. Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen) has been accelerated in almost all market segments (including economic, middle priced, and luxury cars) because of population concentration and relatively advanced industrialization, which indirectly causes the overcapacity problem in coastal auto firms. • 15. Blood Wedding By Federico Garcia Lorca In 1930s Spain, the ritual of marriage became highly controversial as the 1931 Constitution allowed for divorce to be legal. This caused debate between older and younger generations. The elders of society still had their beliefs deeply rooted in the views of the Catholic Church , which did not allow for divorce. Nonetheless, the younger generation was more prone to giving into desire and therefore was more open to the idea. The play Blood Weddingby Federico Garcia Lorca insinuates the strong importance of ritual in the 1930s. Due to this, in the play, ritual is revered and ironclad while desire is shunned. When Leonardo comes to the wedding of Bride the clash between desire and ritual is made evident. Nonetheless, ritual is made... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, when Leonardo whisks Bride away, ritual is threatened. Lorca also shows how desire should be kept hidden away in society by the running away of Bride and Leonardo being made off stage. He shows that people would rather pretend that desire does not even exist making their running away hidden signifying that. Additionally, the setting of Act 3 adds to the feeling of desire. Forests have been known in plays to be a place of surrealism. Leonardo and Bride get married in the forest as their ability to be together is like a dream come true for them and it would not be possible anywhere else. In any other place, ritual would have had more precedence and strength because society endorses it due to the beliefs of the Catholic Church. All in all, desire is not imperative to society in the play and in that time period. Blood Wedding portrays ritual excessively; even the title Wedding is a religious sacrament. Thus, it should come as no surprise that Lorca encompasses ritual into the hunting down of Leonardo and Bride. As soon as everyone learns that the two are gone, Mother dispatches people to go look for them and says, It s come again: the hour of blood (p. 44). From this phrase, one can see that the hour of blood has come before. It is an accepted ritual to hunt down and kill a runaway bride or anyone who challenges ritual. No one is disturbed by the impending murder because it is a tradition a way of living. Desire has

  • 17. The Battle Of The Crusades In The Song Of Roland In the epic poem, The Song of Roland the tale depicts the Battle at Rencevaux in which the protagonist is betrayed and serves as a martyr to justify the Crusades. The Crusades were a medieval military expedition by the Roman Catholics to purge the Muslims from the Holy Land. With this definition of the Crusades, one can conclude that the Song of Rolandshould not be considered apart of the Crusades as the poem s context is historically inaccurate, written long after the events, and lacks a credible source. Instead, this depiction should just be considered as a folk tale that was used to drive the crusaders to keep fighting. The story of heroism in this poem was no doubt a motivational tool that inspired soldiers to persevere and uproot the Muslims from the Holy Land. The Song of Roland dates back to early 12th century, in the midst of the Crusades. The original battle was called the Battle of Roncevaux Passwhich took place in 778 AD, long before the epic poem dates back to. For one to even consider this poem as the first battle of the Crusades the poem would have be written relatively soon after the battle. Some scholars speculate that the poem was written around the time that the battle took place but there is no evidence to support their theory as the only written copies date back between 1129 and 1165 AD. These dates place the written poem in the middle of the Crusades. Furthermore, this strengthens the idea that the poem is not a accurate description of what actually happened on that day. Instead, this epic poem was written for another purpose, the purpose of inspiring the current knights of the glory and honor that can be gained from this Holy War. With the date of the Song of Roland being nearly four hundred years after the actual battle one could see the potential problems with the details of the story. Having no previous records, experts aren t sure whether the epic poem was changed on purpose, or if parts of it were forgotten. Although the tale conveys a sense of heroism and pride, it there are many details that are historically inaccurate. For example, in the Song of Roland , the author describes the opposing forces as Saracens . This term Saracen is used by many authors at the time

There are many Hospitals in the United States of America facing nursing shortages and staffing issues. This paper will focus on ways to alleviate short staffing in my current place of employment. Using interview questionnaires as my primary research, and scholarly peer reviewed articles as my secondary form of research I concluded that there are many options hospitals have while trying to improve on staffing. Many problems can arise when a hospital runs short staffed. Patient safety, nurse burnout, and patient satisfaction are all issues faced in the nursing field. Medication errors, patient falls, wrong procedure site, and inaccurate charting occur when nurses are understaffed and do not have time to focus on their patient and their tasks. When nurses are understaffed and have eight patients each it s hard to keep up with what the patients are doing when you leave the room. Patient satisfaction is another key factor hospitals need to think about when understaffing their units. When patients do not receive quick service, not only do they have more complaints, but they could possibly be suffering from pain also. This is the number one complaint patients have while being hospitalized. When staffing is corrected these errors can be avoided and nurses can care for their patients the way their patients deserve to be cared for. Hospitals can offer nurses incentives or

That particular model motor has a safety shut off lever on the lawn mower handle which has a cable attached to the motor, and the attached cable must be activated to disengage the motor shut off break and to allow spark to reach the spark plug. What was decided was to cut the cable off and deactivate the motor shut off feature. If the motor has this feature, the cable will have to be observed and also the levers on the motor to figure out a way to deactivate or preserve the feature. In both cases the motor will not start unless something is done about the cable and levers. A small hole was discovered in one of the lever plates on the side of the engine, the cable was then pulled, and a small nail was then inserted into the lever to keep the mechanism from retracting and shutting off the motor. As stated earlier, it will take a bit of time to figure out how the motor shut off mechanism works (if there is one installed on the motor). PROCEDURE: The first step is to remove the motor from the lawn mower base. Typically, there are 3 or 4 bolts holding the motor to the base, but before they can be removed, the mower blade and the shaft coupler that holds the blade on the motor shaft will need to be removed. Impact of the Six Tips Introduction In an article written by Pam Baker named Six Tips for Stretching IT Budgets in 2009 , the writer recommended six tips to get the most value of technology offerings without sacrificing innovations. However, these tips still need some assessment. This paper assesses both positive and negative impacts that those tips have. Of course, the impact is on both operations and strategic investment spending. It will be concise and to the point. Repurpose Software You Already Own Repurposing in general as a concept is beneficial. The positive points here are that money is being saved by using already owned software. Also the creativity of using one tool to solve business problems. However, one negativity is that it might impede productivity. For example, if a writer decided to use Word Pad which is the text editor bundled with Microsoft Windows to write a novel instead of using Microsoft Word, he will be saving money but productivity is lost because Word Pad is not as powerful is Word when it comes to professional writing. However, old software might not be secure after a while (Andress, 2011). Manage IT Operations More Efficiently Sometimes IT professionals are declined budget forcing them to deal efficiently with what they have. Therefore, they must follow the advice of Mr. Fawcett. There are three things he advises every CIO with: 1. Automation of repetitive tasks. 2. Use of monitoring tools 3. Tools to help business users self service

Cobalt has 28 isotopes other than Cobalt 60, these include: Cobalt 47, Cobalt 48, Cobalt 49, Cobalt 50, Cobalt 51, Cobalt 52, Cobalt 53, Cobalt 54, Cobalt 55, Cobalt 56, Cobalt 58, Cobalt 59, Cobalt 60, Cobalt 61, Cobalt 62, Cobalt 63, Cobalt 64, Cobalt 65, Cobalt 66, Cobalt 67, Cobalt 68, Cobalt 69, Cobalt 70, Cobalt 71, Cobalt 72, Cobalt 73, Cobalt 74, Cobalt 75 and Cobalt 76 (Jefferson Lab, n.d.). Co 60 is a synthetically produced radioisotope with a half life of 5.27 years (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2014). It decays through beta particles and gamma radiation (CDC, 2005). Cobalt 60 decays into stable isotope, Nickel 60 through beta minus decay (radioactivity.eu.com, n.d.). SAFETY ISSUES Cobalt 60 can be very dangerous to human health. If ingested or inhaled, the majority of co 60 is excreted in the feces and the rest is absorbed into the blood and tissues, mainly the liver, kidneys and bones (CDC, 2014; United States Environmental Protection Agency [EPA], 2015). As co 60 is involved in ionising radiation, all co 60 that is absorbed by liver, kidneys or bone tissue can cause cancer and because it decays by gamma radiation, this results in an increased risk of cancer in comparison to other radioisotopes along with skin burns, acute radiation sickness, or death. In occasional circumstances, medical or industrial radiation sources are lost or stolen

  • 45. Roy, S Reactions To Conflict In Bernard Malamud s The Natural Although Roy is the main character Bernard Malamud s The Natural, we are not directly told of his past. It is up to the reader to piece together the puzzle and interpret why Roy acts and responds in the way he does. Roy s mysterious past makes his responses to conflict the most interesting aspect of this book. There is a presence of conflict throughout the entire text: adversity with The Whammer , Bump, Gus, Memo, the Judge, and his own mental state. Although Roy reacts to conflict in a variety of ways, the reactions themselves are fueled by one motive. Roy s overall responses to conflict originate from his devastating past and family life, in addition to his need to prove to himself that he has purpose. Although we are not specifically told of Roy s past, Malamud gives away small hints and details towards what has occurred. It is revealed that Roy was not fond of his mother, and that she had a bad influence on him. Roy describes his mother as a whore that spoiled [his] old man s life (Malamud 179). He goes on by saying that she did not love anybody, including himself. Roy only lived with his mother for the first seven years of his life, followed by him moving in with his grandmother. After his grandmother passed away, he was forced to live in an orphanage. One of the first characters that is presented as someone Roy looks up to is Sam, and shortly after he is brought into the picture, Roy witnesses him perish. Jarecki successfully emphasizes the situation leading up to Arnold s arrest that he gives the audience such imagery of what was in Arnold s house that we start to believe that he is guilty of sex crimes. With notable skill, Jarecki and his editor Richard Hankin, have interwoven the family movies with interviews of the Friedmans, relevant police officials, postal inspectors, some lawyers, and specialists of several kinds (Kauffmann, 25). Jarecki uses editing for persuasion. As the film begins and starts to get going we are exposed to numerous interviews that both support and oppose Arnold and Jesse. Jarecki favorably edits opposing points of view together in order to emphasize the complexity and moral underpinnings of the case. For example the shots when Arnold and Jesse are arrested, during those scenes we see and hear from their lawyer Peter. From there we see views of their trial and views of the lawyer. Andrew Jarecki also keeps the issue of guilt and innocence darkened with the use of editing. As in the part of the film David talks about how his

One example of someone who was deeply touched by the teaching of Gandhi and Christ is John Lewis. In March: Book one, written by John Lewis and Andrew Aydin, we can clearly see how Lewis incorporated Christianity and Gandhi s ideas of peaceful protest into the civil rights movement. The book tells an eventful story of John Lewis life. As Lewis grew up, his faith strengthened and he began involving himself in the civil rights movement. He played a major role in desegregating department store lunch counters by using Gandhi and Christ s ideas of loving your enemy. Although significant people John Lewis had met, such as Martin Luther King, clearly played a key role in developing his character, it is evident throughout the trilogy that the people who impacted John Lewis the most were those he had never met. The teachings of Jesus Christ and Mahatma Gandhi appear to have positively influenced Lewis life in ways no one he met had. It is obvious that John Lewis was clearly a Christ follower. This is evident throughout both book one and two. All through John s life, from when he was not even able to read, to when he was older and able to write his own book, John stayed true to his faith in God. He states, Growing up, what I really wanted to be was a preacher. My uncle gave me a bible when I was four (Lewis and

The second main step in planning the perfect party is identifying what the theme of the party is going to be. The theme of the party can vary anywhere from a birthday party to a costume party. After you have successfully identified the theme for your party, you will then need to decide who you want to invite. When deciding on who you would like your guest to be, refer back to your theme. For instance, if you are planning a birthday party for a five year old, the majority of your guest should be other children around that age. After that, count how many guests will be attending the event because this will be important in your next step; revisiting the locations that you chose. Choosing a location is not only important when calculating your budget but also when identifying your theme and the amount of guest there will be. For example, you would not want to plan a baby shower at a bar because that environment is not suitable for a baby shower. The number of guest is also crucial to know because you do not want to plan a party at a location that will not provide enough space for your visitors. Now that you have a theme, guests, and a location, the next step is to decide what type of decorations to use.

Graff thinks that if we give students things they like to read then they will progress to more scholarly readings. Both authors describe how society doesn t value all types of intellectualism. Rose explains how people are stereotyping blue collared jobs and not appreciating them. Graff explains how schools and colleges aren t fostering intellectualism because they don t take interests into account. Society s view on intelligence is becoming watered down from the truth. In Rose s article, Blue Collar Brilliance Rose discusses societies outlook on intelligence. Rose explains how society thinks blue collared jobs don t involve any intelligence, and anyone can do a blue collared job. He explains how society thinks that since you don t have to have a high education to perform well in blue collared jobs, it takes little to no intelligence.
