IS UBER A DISRUPTIVE
TECHNOLOGY?
Ian Baker
WHAT IS UBER?
• Uber is a location-based app where you can hire a driver to pick you up
and take you to your destination.
• You can also have food delivered through Uber with Uber eats.
• Uber has cars, boats, planes, and helicopters.
BRIEF HISTORY OF UBER
• Uber was founded in 2009 as UberCab by Garrett Camp and Travis
Kalanick.
• Uber services and mobile app officially launched in 2011.
• In July 2012 UberX allowed anyone to drive with there own car while
passing requirements.
• In August 2014 UberPool allowed people to use the same Uber going
the same direction.
• Ubers headquarters are in San Fransisco, California.
WHAT INDUSTRY DID UBER IMPACT?
• Uber impacted the Taxi Cab industry
and some other transportation
industry's.
• Such as places that offer helicopter
rides uber has a impact on that
industry.
• Also uber affects the public
transportation in almost every place
its allowed in.
• Uber affects these by taking away
customers with a cheaper price.
HOW HAS IT IMPACTED THIS INDUSTRY
• The Taxi Cab industry is the industry affected most by Uber.
• Uber has caused taxi cabs to loose money because of competition.
• Uber has affected public transportation by decreasing the number of
people who use it.
• With the helicopter rides there's not as much impact but Uber does offer
a lower price.
UBER IS A DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGY
• Uber is a prime example of a disruptive technology.
• It has affected almost every transportation industry across the world,
even getting banned from some places.
• With the affects it has had on other industries it only feels right to say
that this is a disruptive technology.
• Uber has more appeal to customers and has almost put some of these
industries out of business.
YES IT IS
• Uber has disrupted many transportations industries in a negative way.
• Resulting in them being banned from some areas to keep those other
industries alive.
• Is always trying to be disruptive by adding new features such as
UberEats and UberPool.
• Overall I think uber is a disruptive technology because it was once a
small company that unseated many large company's.
