2. Хүний хэлсэн үгийг дамжуулах 2 арга зам байдаг. 1. Хүний хэлсэн үгийг тэр хэвээр дамжуулах ( Direct speech буюу шууд хэлсэн үг ) . 2. Уг хүний хэлсэн үгийг найруулан өөрчилж хөндлөнгөөс ярих ( Reported speech or Indirect speech буюу дам үг ) .

3. Гол өгүүлбэр + that + гишүүн өгүүлбэр / Main sentence + that ( гэж ) + Subordinate Clause / Жишээ : She tells you that John writes poems .

4. Харин шууд яриа буюу “Direct speech” нь мэдээлэх үгсийнхээ араас таслал юмуу тодорхойлох цэг тавиад хүний хэлсэн үгийг том үсгээр эхэлж хашилтанд хийдэг. Жишээ : Tom says to Bob: “I want to go swimming”. (Direct speech) Tom says that he wants to go swimming. (Reported speech)

5. M эдээлэх үгс /For reported speech, we use reporting verbs like/: say ( хэлэх ) tell ( ярих ) ask ( асуух ) order ( тушаах ) shout ( хашхирах ) declare ( хэлэх, мэдээлэх )

6. If the reporting verb is in the present tense , we do not change the tense used in the direct sentence. Pronouns, possessive adjectives and the form of the verb can be changed .

7. Example: 1.Susan:” I phone my brother every week.” Susan says that she phones her brother every week. 2.Simon:” I will buy a present for my mother.” Simon says that he will buy a present for his mother.

8. Reporting verbs can be in: The Simple Present tense He says you (that) her family lives in London . -Түүний гэр бүл Лондонд амьдардаг гэж тэр чамд хэлж байна. The Present Continuous tense Liz tells Tom (that) Laura is speaking to teacher . -Лаура багштайгаа ярьж байгаа гэж Томд Лиз хэлсэн.

9. The Present Perfect tense She has told you (that) John has written more than a hundred poems . – Жон 100 гаруй шүлэг бичсэн байна гэж тэр эмэгтэй чамд хэлээд байна. The Past Simple tense He said (that) his brother bought a car. – Ах нь машин худалдаж ав ca н гэж тэр ярьсан.

10. The Future Simple tense She will tell you (that) Sam will read novels. – Сэм зохиол уншина гэж тэр чамд хэлнэ.

11. Энэ тохиолдолд гол өгүүлбэрийн өгүүлэхүүн нь tell- хэлэх, order- тушаах, ask- гуйх зэрэг үйл үгүүд байдаг ба гишүүн өгүүлбэрийг гол өгүүлбэртэй нь “ t о” холбоосоор холбоно.Хэрэв гишүүн өгүүлбэр нь үгйсгэх өгүүлбэр байвал “not to” гэж холбон o .

12. Mother said to her son: “Don’t go out today”. Mother told her son not to go out that day. – Ээж хүүдээ битгий гараарай гэж хэлжээ.

13. The officer said to his soldiers: “Follow me!”. The officer ordered his soldiers to follow him. – Офицер дагаж явахыг цэгүүдээ тушаав.

14. She said: ”Help me with some money”. She asked me to help her with some money. – Жаахан мөнгөөр туслахыг тэр эмэгтэй надаас гуйв.
