Thesis About Snow Treasure
Have you ever thought about your country having a war with other country?? Snow Treasure by
Marie McSwigan is a sad and memorable story of children carrying gold in Norway(Norway is
their country) and adults fighting with Germans. This story is important to people who think war
is nothing. Because in this story, they show how they are having a hard time during the war. I
really admire character Jan Lasek, who is a Pole but he was once German solider. Then you ll ask
me why. Because he risked his life to save Peter from German army.
This story takes place in Norway during a war with Germans. The protagonist is Peter, a brave
young boy about ten years old. He leads children to carry a gold in Norway to Uncle Victor,
because Uncle Victor should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s important because it shows how much hard time they are having during the war and it
teaches you how people get hurt by war. In the war between Norway and German, children
always have to pull gold on the sled because Germans can take them. They carry more than
100kg. It will be really hard. And by hurting, sure it can be like shooting gun hurting, but if our
heart hurts, it really hurts. Like with war, when people pass away, think about it. How will their
family feel?? Really, really sad. So I think like war, we shouldn t make it happen.
I was able to identify with Peter who was afraid at first to be the leader but later on he did a great
job. I strongly recommend this book because it is touching and it shows how children has done a
great job, with very responsible actions. I was very moved with Jan Lasek because even if he
can die, he risked his life for Peter. How touching and amazing is that?? I think I can t have done
it. I was inspired with Uncle Victor s idea. If children is around, who would think they are
carrying a gold?? It was a great idea. It taught me that if we really want something, they risk their
lifes to. Like for example, if my mother is sick, than I ll do anything to fix it. Won t you?
It s a interesting story. It really made me sweat some times. And you ll be moved with what Jan
Lasek has done for Peter. I really loved this book. I recommend to all my

Priority Sector Lending
The Draft Technical Paper on Review of Priority Sector Lending, prepared by the Internal
Working Group set up in Reserve Bank under the chairmanship of Shri C. S. Murthy, Chief
General Manager in Charge, Rural Planning and Credit Department, was placed on the RBI
website on September 30, 2005 for public opinion. Subsequently, on November 8, 2005 one

In December 2004, it was decided that direct advances to priority sector will be encouraged, thus
beginning a phased withdrawal of eligibility in special bonds of specified institutions.
1.3
In paragraph 90 of the Annual Policy, ibid, it was stated that one view is that lending to
any infrastructure project should be made eligible for priority sector lending while making
subtargets fungible within the overall target. There is another view that enlargement of areas has
resulted in loss of focus. It is also held that credit growth in housing, venture capital and
infrastructure has been strong while it has been sluggish in agriculture and small industries.
Further, it is argued that only sectors that impact large population, weaker sections and are
employment intensive such as agriculture, tiny and small industry should be eligible for priority
sector. Since there are several issues that need to be considered in this regard, it is appropriate that
these are debated and examined in depth .
1.4
In order to examine the issues raised in the Annual Policy, it was decided that an Internal
Working Group be set up for the purpose.
a) to examine the need for continuance of priority sector lending prescriptions; b) to review the
existing policy on priority sector lending including the segments constituting the priority sector,
targets and sub targets, etc.; c) to examine the suggestions received regarding

The E FM should have communicated to people s feelings to encourage behaviour change to
overcome barriers.
The actual change process should have included a Sense of Urgency . The positive promotion of
in house services, and the expense of contracted services should have been repeatedly and
strenuously broadcast. This would have altered people s behaviour to believe the change was
necessary and beneficial.
A Project Team or Guiding Coalition should have been formed by the E FM, to drive the change
effort.
An improved Vision or change strategy would have helped sell the change with a sense of emotion.
The Vision should have been broadcast in additional formats and regularly re publicised.

White V Jones Case
Abstract:
The case of White v Jones [1995] is a famous case in the English tort law which concerns the
liability of solicitors to the beneficiaries of the will with whom they have no contractual
relationship if they performed their work negligently. This case raises the questions of professional
negligence, the third party beneficiary (relationship) and the duty of care. In the case of White v
Jones the Court of Appel followed the statement of Vice Chancellor Megarry in Ross v Caunters
[1980] : In considering the liability question, it is of the utmost importance to keep in mind that if
there is no liability, the result is striking: the only person who has a valid claim against the solicitor
has suffered no loss, and the only person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Who, then, in law, is my neighbour? The answer seems to be persons who are so closely and
directly affected by my act that I ought reasonably to have them in contemplation as being so
affected when I am directing my mind to the acts or omissions which are called in question.
The principles in Hedley Byrne Co Ltd v Heller Partners Ltd [1964] and Donoghue v Stevenson
[1932] was confirmed in White v Jones [1995] .
The significance of the case of Caparo Industries Plc v Dickman [1990] lies in the Caparo test
which is stated by Lord Bridge:
What emerges is that, in addition to the foreseeability of damage, necessary ingredients in any
situation giving rise to a duty of care are that there should exist between the party owing the duty
and the party to whom it is owed a relationship characterised by the law as one of proximity or
neighbourhood and that the situation should be one in which the court considers it fair, just and
reasonable that the law should impose a duty of a given scope upon the one party for the benefit of

Essay On Insanity Defense
The insanity defense is the most controversial criminal defense that is used in courts (The
Insanity). Ironically, it is the defense that is used the least. According to a professor of law at
Santa Clara University, Professor Alexander, the plea is only used one percent of the time, and
works less than half the time it is used (Steibel). In cases where it is used, it tends to get a lot of
attention from the media which provokes debate from the public (The Insanity). Critics have
reservations concerning the exploitation of the plea, namely that the defendants will use to get
shorter sentences or to evade a guilty verdict completely (The Insanity). However, according to a
study done by the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, the majority of those who are
judged not guilty by reason of insanity do in fact suffer from a mental illness (The Insanity).
History has shown us that we need the insanity defensebecause a person cannot be held responsible
for their crimes if they do not have the mental capacity to understand what they have done wrong or
cannot stop themselves from committing this crime, it would be unjust to punish someone who
does not deserve it.
The insanity defense is a plea from the defendant claiming he is not guilty as they do not have the
mental capacity to appreciate what they have done wrong or comprehend the fact that they have
committed a crime (Martin). The basis for insanity was introduced when Daniel M Naghten
attempted to assassinate the prime

The Strategic Culture of China and Iran
The culture of a region has a dramatic impact on the perspective and responses of its members.
These perspective and responses are influenced by physical, political and social/cultural sources that
are critical to understanding why certain strategic policies are adopted. This paper will analyze the
social/cultural and political sources that affect the strategic culture of Chinaand Iran.
The strategic culture of China is primarily influenced by social/cultural sources such as symbols,
myths and defining texts that have resulted in China s sense of superiority and pacifist history.
Chinese sense of cultural superiority is derived from its perception that their state coincided with
the civilized world and Confucianism is critical to enlightenment of the barbarians, evidenced by
the 300 Chinese institutes founded worldwide. Chinese leaders also believe that unlike western
expansionist philosophy, theirs is one of pacifism. This is because of their geographical position
and belief that it is the core of international systems and as long as other states understand their
role, there is no need for war. Chinese pacifism is more a mindset of their leaders than fact based on
their 4000 year history of internal strife, revolution, and external meddling of other countries. The
Chinese believe that natural order requires a strong and stable China, one united internally and free
from external influences and will use military force when needed. Consequently, most Chinese

Parenting Style Of Parenting Styles
Pin pointing a specific parenting style that I was raised by was quite difficult. I believe that most
parents use different styles throughout the raising of their children. Of course, I do understand that
this paper is to select the dominate style of parenting used for my upbringing, but I was raised in
two different households. Each household had its own dominate parentingstyle, however most of
my life I was raised by my mother, so I ll focus on her parenting style. As I stated above, I believe
parents use almost all the parenting styles in dealing with different situations. My mother was no
exception to this. She could go from authoritarian to permissive without even blinking an eye,
which is why I was difficult for me to select a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, my mother was distant and didn t expect much from my siblings and me. An example
of this parenting style would be when I found out I had received a scholarship from the
Heartland Foundation. When my mother found out she went on multiple social media sites to
tell everyone the good news, but she did not contact me at all. I ended up asking her to be my
plus one to the scholarship dinner; I guess I m still stuck in the loop of trying to make her proud.
On the way to the dinner the car was filled with silence. No congratulations. No I m proud of you
moments. Just heavy silence. At the dinner we spoke maybe twenty words to each other. Most of
these words were commenting on how nice the Bone Student Center looked and how delicious the
meal was. When the dinner ended, my mother drove me back home and said goodbye. No I love
you . Nothing but goodbye. Another example of my mother s disengagement would be when my
sister was suspended multiple times and almost expelled. My sister tried to find attention from other
people since she was receiving none at home. Her way of gaining this attention was getting into
fights, and sadly, it worked. It took three incidents to gain the attention of my mother, and this only
gained her attention because she received three different tickets for the fighting from the police

Comparing James Eads How And Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
With a first glance, an article of a man who, although he s rich, poses as a hobo and a novel
about a mad scientist who s creation goes astray may not seem to have much in common. In
many ways, James Eads How and Victor Frankenstein from Mary Shelley s Frankenstein are
quite different. James Eads How gave up his riches to live a poor, but humble life. How was a
real man that lived in the early 20th century. His story was widely popular, and writer and
illustrator Tim Lane, recently made a comic about How s adventure called The Millionaire Who
Lived as a Hobo and published it on the Riverfront Times, a news and culture website. While Victor
Frankensteinis nothing more than a fictional character made up in 1818. A character of a science
fiction novelwith questionable morals but a keen sense of what he wants in the world.... Show more

Both How and Frankenstein had very strong beliefs and, with those beliefs, have very ambitious
plans. And each of these goals differ from how they were raised to become. For example, How
grew up in a wealthy home, he had everything he needed and people who served him daily, even
said in a comic made about him, it s stated: James Eads How was an unlikely crusader for the
hobo class. He was born into enormous wealth. Even though his childhood was such, he always
felt of the same level as the servants and maids who aided this. This may have also stemmed from
his interest in theology. From the way he was raised, one wouldn t assume that he would become a
homeless man, traveling by train trying to find work and

Constitutional Reform Research Paper
Our Constitution: Does it need to be reformed? In 1780 one person proposed an idea to reconstruct
our government; Alexander Hamilton proposed a general convention to frame a new constitution
(Beard 3). The Article of Confederation was failing and the several men wanted a change to form a
stronger national government. Some states excelled under the Article of Confederation while others
struggled, there was no whole as a nation only sovereignty for the states. In 1787 the Framers
changed the future of the United Statesof America and formed the constitution; which we still
currently use. It took 9 states to ratify the constitution; 9 who believed in the best for the people.
Still to this day we run our government off of a document made over... Show more content on

Many things to be amended to change, add on, or reword. One thing that has a huge aspect in
our country is personal rights; way to show the constitution is at flaw is lack of specification in
Amendment 2 on what the Bearing Arms represents. The states if they agreed upon it could
amend this if they were to call a convention. The Failure to specify rights of privacy is another
flaw (2). The constitution does not specify many things but rather only idealizes the general idea.
Framers made the constitution this way. From these flaws and broad controversy s leads us into
prevents us from a rise of a powerful faction. While realizing several things do need to change in
the constitution, there should not be a brand new constitution. If we specified everything there
would be fewer factions which become dangerous in our democracy (Madison 5). Another thing
that should be addressed is the amount of power Congress possesses compared to states; the power
produces lack of trust and hate towards Congress. The reason on why people hate Congress so
much is because the amount of taxes that the citizens of the United States have to pay toward the
national government, some states don t even see back the money they have to invest towards the

How Did Genghis Khan Influence The Descendants Of The...
Genghis Khan and various of his descendants were terribly associated with different unpleasant
stories of conquest and destruction. There is hardly anyone who does not know the name of the
great military leader/conqueror who managed to take over a huge part of the Eurasian continent

Persian historian from Khorasan whose account of the Mongol conquest of Asia is one of the few
primary sources on the expansion of Chinggis Khan s empire.he presented one of the most

Devil In The White City Analysis
(P) The debates are prevalent of the evil that largely takes responsible for the events occuring in
the novel Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. (CE) Erik Larson writes the novel in very
simplistic terms (DE) She walked upstairs. The day was hot. Flies rested on the wind sill. Outside
yet another train rumbled through the intersection (Larson 37). (FA) The more simplistic the
writing, despite the connotative meaning, allows for the further exploration of a deeper theme.
Without the distraction of unnecessary verbiage, the author is able to convict the theme in a shorter
and more precise way. Beyond the general use of simplistic writing technique, Larson defers back to
the simple sentence format when generating a sense of hastiness

Batman Vs Superman Research Paper
Tank missiles, bat bombs, or super strength, which would you prefer? Out of all off the
superheroes today, I think that ironman, batman, and superman are probably the most popular.
These three are highly powerful in all of their own ways. Two of them equipped with an arsenal
of gadgets while the other is just a man in tights and a cape. They all have their ups and their
down, their strengths and their weaknesses. But set all that aside and they are very much alike.
They have more similarities than you would think even though they are all very different.
Ironman s name is Tony Stark; he is an only child, with no parents and a weird looking
electromagnet in his chest. His suit of armor is made from a titanium alloy which I red and

which kill electronics. The suit is extremely bullet resistant and can fly at mach speeds. He has

Cloud again up, reflected servers, Tape backups, image backup, and many others. earlier than
selecting a backup plan for an agency each available option should be analyzed to discover the
pros and cons of using that method and the great choice for the organization need to be selected to
make sure that it meets the employer s desires efficaciously.
In my opinion, the satisfactory backup approach for this business enterprise could be photo backup.
Photo backup works by means of taking a picture of the hard force of the computer at a
particular second in time. The duplication takes place through copying disk block while it s far
written or by way of the usage of cut up mirror set of disks. The recovery from backup is achieved
in any such way that the end result is nearly instant. Picture backup can supply complete, partial,

Housing a population of around four million, Melbourne is the second largest city in Australia.
This city also features some of Australia s best nightlife and has a deep love for sports and the

Research Paper On Affluenza
What is Affluenza? As the video stated affluenza is, An unhappy condition of overload, debt,
anxiety, and waste resulting from the dogged pursuit of more. What are the symptoms?
According to the video, symptoms include swollen expectations, chronic stress, hyper
commercialism, material girls (and boys), the rash of bankruptcies, fractured families, social
scars, and global infection. Do you believe it s a real problem in the United States? Why or Why
not? Yes I think it s a real problem in the United States. I think it s a problem because affluenza is
seen everywhere I look. Life should not revolve around materialistic items, but it does for a lot
of people. I personally do not care as much about stuff. I like having nice things sometimes, but
material items do not rule me. The media, movie stars, and my friends and family display
affluenza. For instance, the media and movie stars portray a high cost of living, with
materialistic ways of life. Stars are always wearing designer clothes, and the newest hair styles
and makeup trends. Certain stars are hired to advertise various products all the time. My friends,
actually one in particular I am thinking of, has lots of nice things and goes out with friends
regularly. She spends all her money on the newest clothes, makeup technology, workout gear,
going out to eat a lot, and drinking. She lives paycheck to paycheck because of her lifestyle.

The Road to Becoming a Teacher
Shayne McCormick
Mr. Katz
Senior Project Research Paper
January 8, 2002
The Road to Becoming a Teacher
Teachers bear the heavy responsibility of molding the minds of our nation s most precious
resource, its children. The road to becoming a teacher is a long one, involving post high school
education, people skills, and a desire to change lives. These traits, when accompanied by experience
and good techniques, form the foundation for an effective, life altering educator. Before anything
else, teachers must have a desire to impact the lives of their students (Education). Some teachers
teach because they want to help children learn and grow and would like to make a contribution to
society. Others have an intellectual fascination with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Teachers must be ready to deal with an array of students with different needs. Their day usually
begins around 8 a.m. where they face the difficult task of waking up their tired students and getting
them ready to learn. They must find interesting ways of presenting the subjects that students often
find tedious (Princeton). Affective teachers use interactive discussion and hands on learning to help
students understand the material (School Teachers).
A teacher s day does not hardly end when the school bell rings. Active teachers are usually involved
in after school meetings, committees, assisting students, grading homework, assignments, and
projects, and calling parents. These tasks all require a certain amount of personal sacrifice (Kizlik).
There have been many changes in education. Even today, the face of education is being changed
and refined. Classes are becoming more and more less structured with students working in their own
groups. The idea is to prepare students to enter the workforce by teaching them the skills to interact
with others, adapt to new technology, and logically think through problems (School Teachers).
Even with the experience of the teacher training programs mentioned earlier, nothing can fully
prepare a person to become a teacher. According to Dr. Bob Kizlik, Each of the roles [a teacher
plays] requires practice and skills that are often not taught in teacher preparation programs. Not all
who want to be teachers should

Women In King Arthur s Knights Of The Round Table
The Woman s Image So much for equality. In King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table by
Roger Lacelyn Green, women are evil, seductive temptresses, and liars.
First of all, women in this version of the story are depicted as evil. Give me the head of this knight
who but now drew the sword which the damsel brought. . . . Evil woman! he cried (p. 25). In this
quote, the Lady of the Lake is demanding the he ad of Sir Balyn because King Arthur owes her a
favor. Rather than just saying you are evil he uses her sex to discriminate her, implying she is
evil simply because she is a woman. and to speak my last word of warning . . . Have good care
of the sword Excalibur, and of the magic scabbard of it and beware of the evil woman who shall
steal it from you, she who shall be the mother of the evil knight who shall strike you down upon
the field of Camlann (p. 63). In this quote, Merlin is warning Arthur about Morgana Le Fe and how
she plans to steal Excalibur and the scabbard that protects him. This is another instant where
women are put forward as evil.

Sunni-Shiite Conflict
The Sunni and Shiite branches of Islam have been feuding for hundreds of years dating back to the
beginning of the Islamic religion. The deity or god of the Sunnis is Allah. The Sunni branch of
Islam is the larger of the two branches with over 80% of the Muslim population. The Sunni are the
majority in most of the countries that have Islamic followers. There are a few different translations
of what Sunna stands for, one of which is Habitual Practice. The differences between the two
branches can be traced all the back to the 7th century CE when the disagreements as to who should

The successor to Muhammad Ali was assassinated in the city of Najaf, Iraq in the year 661. The
Shia put so much emphasis on the assassination death of Ali in 661 that the city in which he was

figure in the eyes of the Shia Muslims is the grandson of Muhammad Husayn who was murdered
in Karbala, Iraq in 680. The Shia recognize the event each year on Ashura, which is a day or

In 2004 in the midst of the Iranian nuclear aspirations and the slow slide of Iraq into a civil war,
there was talk publicly of a Shia crescent in the Middle East. The president in the country of Jordan
who was a Sunni that proclaimed direct relation to the prophet Muhammad was the person that
sounded the alarm about the Shia crescent , which started at the Mediterranean Sea and ended at
the Persian Gulf. The crescent continued from the Caspian Sea to the Indian Ocean. Abdullah and
Mubarak along with the Saudi officials suggested the threat of a divided Middle East along the
sectarian lines. It would put the forever downtrodden Shia against their Sunni rulers. They thought
that the first battleground might be Iraq followed by the oil laden Persian Gulf region. If this were

Peanut butter is the most well known of all the nut butters and is still the most popular spread at
leading grocery stores. Often the thought of peanut butter brings to mind the yummy peanut butter
and jelly sandwiches packed in our lunch boxes when we were kids. However, jelly can be full of
sugar with little nutritional value. Consider using fresh fruit or sugar free preserves instead.

Who Is The Blind Society In Raymond Carter s Cathedral
The Blind Society in Cathedral The blind truth, society is built on social norms and those that do

everyday, whether we like it or not. Robert was judged on his disability, he stood out. Cathedral
written by raymond carter, shows how blind society is with Robert as there symbol. Society
bends the visions of how we see these people that stand out. Robert is judged, but what happens in
the end is how society also tends to react. Society has built preconceptions of people that stand
out. Preconceptions of people are built off some truth, but are not always correct. The mood is set
with the first three words of the passage. The story starts This blind man... (par.1) the husband

One of the awkward encounters was the first question from the husband, Did you have a good
train ride? (par. 25) This awkward question is asked to someone who cannot see. People in today
s society, like the husband, get awkward around the unknown. If you have ever felt the awkward
feeling, then you know you do not typically want to be around it. The awkwardness is not brought
from Robert. Robert is used to the awkward, hints dropped here and there. The calm, confident and
collected attitude of Robert suggests that he has been through something like this before. The main
reason I have chosen to write about this paper is because this theme just popped out, and I
connected it to society right away. I thought of the husband and society together because I too,
have had false preconceptions. Many people should be able to connect to the husband, which is

The gazelle had not the secular role in ancient Egyptian society which was represented through
different phases of gazelle from give birth to grow up and hunting, but there is another ritual or
religious side of gazelle in ancient Egypt; gazelle was used during processions of temples (Flores

Benefits Of Airline And Airport Privatization
1.Introduction
The airline industry is governed by a rapidly evolving framework of economic regulation by which
many factors, significantly continued liberalisation and open skies, have caused much turbulence
and uncertainty in this increasingly low margin market.
Although separate entities, airlines and airports are interdependent and could not operate without
the other. A major consequence of deregulation is airline concentration and strong economic drivers
are pushing towards even further concentration and consolidation (Doganis, 2006). UK airport
regulation was reformed with airport privatisation, enabling a long term focus to meet international
demand and to maintain a customer focused business plan, allowing management to monitor and
adjust costs and boost income.
The aim of this report is to examine these consequences, and the benefits of airline and airport
mergers and acquisitions, and will look specifically at the acquisition of Monarch Airlines by
Jet2.com (known as Jet2(b) later in this report). It will also look at similar acquisition benefits of
Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) by Heathrow Airport Holdings Ltd (HAH).

Acting became an emotional release for him, contrary to what the future role of the Joker seemed to
do. When he was sixteen years old, Ledger graduated early and went to Sydney to pursue acting.
He participated in TV shows and small films, before getting his big break in the international

movie he began to climb the ranks of Hollywood due to his undoubtable talent. He was won best

Divine Law In Antigone By Creon Essay
Additionally, Antigone says, I will not transgress the laws of heaven (Sophocles Scene IV.80).
Sophocles uses the character of Antigone to show that divine law takes precedence and if civil
law does not conform with it, civil disobedience must occur. Sophocles, throughout the play
indirectly shows that divine law takes precedence over civil law. Therefore, should a civil law not
coincide with the laws of the gods, it should be broken. Antigone tells Creon, Your edict, King, was
strong,/ But all your strength is weakness against/ The immortal unrecorded laws of God (Sophocles
Scene II.60 61). Sophocles describes how Creon yields to divine law, showing why civil
disobedience must occur in some cases. Creon states, at the end of the play, that the laws of the
gods are mighty and must be served until death (Sophocles Scene... Show more content on

If the law is unjust, he will take part in civil disobedience. However, the civil disobedience must be
done in a non violent, peaceful fashion. He argues that peaceful protest must transpire to bring
attention to the evils of segregation and racial injustice. Segregation is an example of a law that
conflicts with natural law and therefore, action must be taken. King also proclaims, I submit that an
individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the
penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in
reality expressing the highest respect for law (5). Essentially, King believes that if someone breaks
an unjust law and accepts the consequence of imprisonment, then that individual is expressing
respect for the law. By accepting the consequence and bringing attention to the injustice of the law,
the individual is immensely benefiting society. Therefore, Sophocles and King believe that
individuals have the right to disobey unjust laws in favor of a higher divine or natural

Cognitive Development (Piaget And Vygotsky) Essay
INTEGRATIVE TERM PAPER
I. Theoretical Perspectives
1. Introduction:
There are a number of theorists that have ideas, charts, and graphs about how a child develops.
Many are used today to determine when a child is mature, when they can feel emotion, and other
important factors to which there are no strict textbook answers for. Piaget and Vygotsky are two
theorists that offer theoretical perspectives on how a child develops.
2. Piaget s Constructivist Theory of Cognitive Development:
Piaget had a phrase that said Assimilation and Accommodation lead to Adaptation. Assimilation is
when a person fits his or her external information in with what he or she already knows. The change
is external in this case. Accommodation is the exact opposite. ... Show more content on

Nurture argument, but that is another story. There are major factors that can disrupt the Stage
theory or the Constructivist theory. A person could have a dysfunction or a special need that needs
to be dealt with. For example, is a little boy has a brain dysfunction that disrupts his learning
abilities, there is a high percentage of chance that he will not develop at the same pace and rate as
other children in his generation and environment.
With the Constructivist Theory, a child may not know how to deal with his or her internal emotions
and/or thoughts. If that child does not know how to deal with his or her own internal workings,
there is going to be much difficulty trying to deal with a personal accommodation. The same thing
goes with assimilation. If a child does not know how to deal with his or her external environment,
there is going to be difficulty changing them and dealing with assimilation.
Dealing with the Developmental Theory (Stage Theory), a child may have the same dysfunction
and not be able to move up the ladder of stages. There are those rare cases where a child may be
stuck at one stage, or a child may not develop everything he or she needs to move on.
A. Organizational and Adaptive Processes that Account for Cognitive Development:
The three adaptive processes for cognitive development are assimilation, accommodation, and
equilibrium. These are three agents

Booker T. Washington s Influence on Historically Black...
BOOKER T. WASHINGTON: THE AMBIGUITY OF INFLUENCE ABSTRACT My paper will
discuss the continuing influence of Booker T. Washington s writings on historically black colleges.
While my paper will focus on the ways in which the historically black college continues to adhere
to the model provided by Washington, it will also explore the ways in which it diverges from the
early Hampton Tuskegee ideal. According to James D. Anderson in The Education of Blacks in the

The first freedmen s schools were run by the freedmen and women themselves. Booker T.
Washington s account of his own perseverence in securing his education is poignantly told in Up
From Slavery. Yet with Washington s influence, a shift began from educating students in a liberal
arts tradition to an industrial training mode. Unfortunately, by the turn of the century, with the help
of the benefactor Samuel Chapman Armstrong, the Hampton Tuskegee Idea had come to
represent the ideological antithesis of the educational and social movement begun by ex slaves
(33). In order for freed slaves to fully participate in a democracy, a classical liberal curriculum was
adopted in post Civil War black, elementary, normal and collegiate schools. As James D. Anderson
aptly points out, Black leaders did not view their adoption of the classical liberal curriculum or its
philosophical foundations as mere imitation of white schooling. Indeed, they knew many whites
who had no education at all. Rather, they saw this curriculum as providing access to the best
intellectual traditions of their era and the best means to understanding their own historical
development and sociological uniqueness. (Anderson 29) In fact, black educators like Richard
Wright found support in the classics for racial equality; the study of the classics was a means to

The very thin layer of atmosphere is being thickened by carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases.
The atmosphere is trapping infrared radiation instead of allowing it to escape into the universe, and
as a result the temperature of the earth is getting too warm and causing even more severe
problems. Roger Revelle was the first person to recognize the impact of green house gases on
our planet and he proposed measuring the amount of carbon dioxide in the earth s atmosphere.
His measurements showed a chart of drastically rising levels of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere which are harmful to earth s ecosystems. Scientists have concluded that there is a
correlation between temperature and rising levels of carbon dioxide. When there is more carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere the temperature rises because more heat from the sun is trapped
inside. We have already begun to see the effects of these rising temperatures. From melting
glaciers to severe storms, these environmental issues will only continue to worsen as emissions
of green house gases increase. Glaciers in Alaska, Peru, the Alps, and many more are melting at
rapid speeds. The Himalayan Glaciers have been among the most affected by global warming. The

The Role Of Women In The Massachusetts Bay Colony
During the American colonial period, the presence of patriarchy was undeniable in both the
Massachusetts Bay Colony and Chesapeake colony, but little is known about the important roles
that women filled. Although there were many shared roles among women in both colonies, their
level of importance in the success of their colonies differed. The MassachusettsBay Colonywomen
were more essential to the success of their colony than the women of the Chesapeake colony,
especially with regards to its economy, education, and religion.
The difference in the economies of the two regions was the driving force that led to the strong role
women played in Massachusetts Bay. The Chesapeake colony was colonized by settlers who
wanted to make money quickly, and eventually, as the permanent tobacco producing settlements
started to form, the need for indentured servants rose. Since men had more value as indentured
servants, not many women immigrated, and as a result, a disproportionate men to women ratio was
created. Consequently, many did not marry in Chesapeake, and the mostly male colonists led an
isolated existence, unlike the communal town life and government established in Massachusetts
Bay, where settlers came primarily for religious freedom. Thus, instead of isolated migration, there
was family and group migration, leading to a more proportionate ratio of men to women. In
Chesapeake, family life held little importance. However, in the Massachusetts Bay Colony,

Chinese Housing Price Control and Economic in One Lesson

One lesson and analysis the inflation and government pricing fixing effects.

Each family member will have 60 square meters exempted from tax. Hazlitt has discussed the effect
on tax, it cuts down the production. In China real estate case, it not directly reduces the production
as the tax burden doesn t go to supplier, however it directly leads to the decrease of housing
demand and cooling down people s notion of housing is a store of wealth.
Recommendation and conclusion
In economics view housing price control is only a short term solution for maintain the stable
price. In the long run government shouldn t interfere too much in a mature property market as
the market itself has the ability to adjust the price and balance the demand and supply.
Moreover, whether the local property industry actually can achieve the goals that government
set and is the new property tax will continue implement in other cities or it will be abolished is
still uncertain. As we can see, there is a gap between the government policy and actual practice
due to the real Chinese society situation and people s conception. Housing price has become one
of the most urgent issue in China for a period of years and actually in later 2008 and 2009 some
big cities housing price had a obvious decrease, such as Guangzhou city. The main reason is not
because of governmental macro control but the global financial crisis.

Dracula And The New Woman
Dracula and the New Woman
In the Victorian era, women were viewed as subordinate to men. They often had one job:
reproduction. They would become housewives and cater to their husband and children s needs. As
the era progressed, so did the role of women. The once shy women were now changing into
courageous and outspoken members of society. These women were open about their sexuality and
embraced their intelligence. This new found independence was a turning moment in history and
was given the name the New Woman. The ever changing role of women into a new found
independence was prominent in literature as well. One of the most famous literatures is Dracula by
Bram Stoker. It is evident that Bram Stoker wrote about the New Woman throughout his novel. It is
questionable whether Bram Stoker wanted to embrace the New Woman in society or wanted to
tear it down. In fact, neither is the case. Bram Stoker created the ideal women in Dracula in order to
embrace the woman character without having to be open about their sexual identity. The portrayal
of the women characters in the novel gives evidence on why Dracula created the ideal woman
instead of highlighting the New Woman role. Stoker depicts the new woman in the beginning of
the novel by illustrating several examples of young, beautiful women. The first example is the three
attractive vampires encountered by Jonathan. These vampires represented young striking woman
that were open about their sexual needs. They are aristocratic,

Religious Beliefs, Values, And Norms Of A Culture Essay
Religion is the belief of a higher being that holds all power. It is what shapes the traditions,
values, and norms of a culture. In early American History religion was the celebration of a God
or Gods that represented the accomplishments of one s own. The importance of religion was the
simple fact that people represented the type of life they lived based off their religious beliefs.
People knew very well what others stood for but they did not accept it or tolerate it. I feel as
though the old world had it worse than what we have now. The old world took matters into their
own hands and did not allow those of other groups to continue their ways of worship. People did
not accept different cultures into their villages or places of praises. The invitation was declined
before even presented, they most definitely killed others faster than standing around telling people
what they did wrong by entrusting in those about their religious faith! Back in early American
history there was a lot of issues about religious freedom. Without religionit is impossible for a
nation to be shaped because then there would be no political views. If that s true Donald Trump
might have not been president; I bet you we would all be fine with that too. Society today I
would have to say is less focused on religion and more directed to discrimination. Religion played
a big important significant factor in early American history especially when it came to other
invaders looking to make a way out of their

Significance and background of workplace bullying
Bullying from a boss/employer comes from the established fact that they have power over their
employee as 81% of bullies are managers (Weinstein, viewed 18 August 2015). However, it is
when this power is abused that bullying is found. Workplace bullying is easily considered
insignificant despite the fact that it affects many people and is an issue with many impacts.

would include how a boss uses justification when the issue is reported. Dr Wyatt explains how
workplace bullies will Justify it by [saying] they are just getting the job done, that their colleague

A Rake s Progress Essay
William Hogarth is a name well known from the 18th century as one of the best artists for his
work A Rake s Progress. Despite his background that emerged from unsuccessful parents he did
not follow that trend for he used his thoughts about society to create works of life sized paintings
that became so popular that he pushed for the Copyright Act of 1735 ( National Gallery Website ).
Hogarth created A Rake s Progress in 1733 that contains the main character, Tom Rakewell, within
the borders of Britain and Bedlam, Londonto reflect the madness of the 18th century. The painting
has more than just brilliant craftsmanship but a story behind it that is hidden, but once revealed,
obvious. A Rake s Progress tells a story of the life of Tom Rakewell.... Show more content on

A Rake s Progress shows a number of different types of people implicated. For example, Tom was
on his way to the Queen s birthday party when he was stopped by bailiffs and therefore his
lifestyle is actually being encouraged and supported by aristocrats. In A Rake s Progress,
everyone from the Queen to the priest that performs his marriage of convenience, to common
prostitutes, are part of the problem. But it is not just Hogarth s take no prisoners approach to
social commentary that made him so popular. Printed satire was actually already very common
place and central London was full of bookshops and print sellers that displayed this kind of
work. What Hogarth did do was to tell a story through pictures. In fact, Hogarth s series were
adapted into plays and pantomimes during his lifetime. His visual drama offered his audience a
new way to enjoy satire. The title A Rake s Progress was referencing John Bunyans The Pilgrims
Progress. Hogarth successfully borrows from popular culture in order to express complicated
ideas through an enjoyable and totally accessible story. Hogarth did this so well, he is celebrated
to this day. Today is can be viewed in the Sir John s museum for Hogarth s thoughts on the 18th

Intangibles and Reserves The Shaw Group SOLUTION
Please refer to the attached Shaw Group case to answer the following questions. 1. What does
the Goodwill from Shaw s acquisitions represent (i.e., what are some of the economic assets that
comprise this account)? Which intangible assets and liabilities does Shaw amortize over time?
Which intangibles, if any, are not amortized? Shaw defines Goodwill as the excess of the
purchase price of acquisitions over the fair value of the net assets acquired (Note 1). The net assets
acquired include not only tangible assets and liabilities, such as accounts receivable and PP E, but

Because the extra profit of these contracts was recognized at acquisition, there must be a reduction
in profits recognized at contract completion to avoid double counting. The amortization of
contract liability adjustments (and accrued contract losses) reduces costs of revenues. Again, the
extra losses of the contracts were recognized at acquisition, so cost of revenues is reduced to
avoid double counting. 3. Using Exhibit 2, compute Shaw s gross profit margin for each quarter

Descriptive Essay About A Wedding
Growing up, one of my favorite movies to watch was Cinderella. It shows a classic fairy tale
wedding that almost every girl, including me, fantasizes about. Fortunately for me, I was given
an opportunity to be a part of one. It was 8 o clock in the morning on a fresh fall day. My mom
and I arrived at Ulta Beauty to meet with my sister to get our hair and makeup done. As soon as
we walked in I could smell the hairspray and saw all the makeup we had to choose from. I
choose to do a classic bun with a braid while my sister chose to do a loose bun with hair framing
her face. For our makeup, we both chose to do a classic fall, but light look. This consisted of
using Clinique foundation with a light orange eyeshadow and finishing the look with fake
eyelashes. Our next task of the day was to meet at the Best Western Hotel in New Ulm to get
ready. I put on my bridesmaid dress and assisted my sister with any final touch ups. She stepped
into her cinderella, lace, full, cream colored ball gown and I laced her up. My eyes have never
seen anything more gorgeous than her. She glistened like snow on a sunny day. To get more natural
and clear looking photos, the weddingparty headed downstairs to a room with natural lighting to
set up for pictures. Kara stood by the window while we all took turns fixing her veil, or buttoning
her dress, all while pictures were being taken. After an hour or so, we all made our way down to
German Park, where the wedding would take place. The park was

Mindfulness And Its Types Of Mindfulness
Mindfulness has had a lot of thriving attention in recent years and it s roots grew in Eastern
religious traditions. Buddhism has focused on improving high states of mental well being, in
conjunction with selecting psychological problems and dealing with them. It is recurrently
associated with the set practice of mindfulness medication and more importantly has been named as
the heart of Buddhist meditation (Kabat Zinn, 2003; Thera, 1962). Mindfulness, is much more than
this and is all about achieving a mental state where you focus on the present moment you re in and
pay attention to thoughts and feelings. Kabat Zinn (2003) looked into the concepts at what makes
mindfulness and found three key concepts; Intention, attention and attitude ... Show more content on

In recent times, it is clear to see the Buddha s integration into psychology. Sigmund Freud, the
founder of psychoanalysis, in his museum (1993) stood a publication, Is psychoanalysis another
religion? . It included different perspectives looking at Freud s ideas towards religion and
spirituality (Cohen, 2010). Some pictures of Buddha s up in the museum and especially one by
Julia Kristera , pictured next to a bust of Shakyamuni Buddha is by Nina Coltart. Coltart (1993)
wrote that the Buddha was an excellent psychologist and knew a great deal about the unconscious
mind .
Mindfulness is a straight forward practice that is accessible to all. It has matured into a
mainstream approach to everyday health problems and psychological issues that need to be
addressed. Important concepts related to mindfulness such as focused breathing plays a big part
to the journey of recovery through mindfulness. It can be practiced through forms of Yoga, for
example Qigong. These exercises and a mindful approach to life, helps reduce negative effects of
disorders like illness, trauma and chronic pain. With ever such increasing demands and
expectations we put on ourselves as part of our lives, we are frequently want to perfect meeting
these and are always pushing ourselves as we fear failure.
Western Psychologists have used Buddhism and its mindfulness to draw similar themes and

The Agile Software Development Process Essay
Motivation Over the last several years, agile software development processes have become
increasingly popular. According to Fowler (2003), the agile software engineering processes attempt
to enable more flexible and adaptive software development than the traditional software engineering
processes offer. Agile practitioners consider documentation as an important aspect for their projects
but there is too little internal documentation available in their projects (Stettina and Heijstek, 2011).
Although the documentation is mentioned, it is not anchored in the original process that relies on
verbal communication (Schwaber and Beedle, 2001). Verbal communication is susceptible to
lapses of memory and after some time it gets progressively harder to recall design rationale. This
problem is compounded by team turnaround (Stettina and Heijstek, 2011). The main objective of
documenting a project is to instruct consumers about the structure of the system, its functionality,
operability and the design structure in case there is need to redesign the system. The primary
consumers of the design documentation are those who maintain or upgrade the system. Other
stakeholders, such as users, testers, and project managers may also need to know about the
system (Selic, B., 2009). However, according to Bran Selic, (2009) software developers do not
like to document, as it has no value for them. Even the agile manifesto, issued by the software
industry s avant garde, proclaims Working software

Flowers Symbolism In To Kill A Mockingbird
Flowers are an ongoing symbol in Harper Lee s novel To Kill a Mockingbird. They are used to
relate to or represent many of the characters all through the novel. The use of symbolism
throughout this work of fiction is essential because it gives a deeper understanding of the
characters. Mayella Ewell and the red geranium, Miss Maudie and her azaleas, Miss Dubose and
her camellias, and Mayella Ewell and the violet are four major uses of symbolism in the story.
One use of symbolism in the novel is when Mayella Ewell is compared to the red geranium. One
corner of the yard, though, bewildered Maycomb. Against the fence, in a line, were six chipped
enamel slop jars holding brilliant geraniums, cared for as tenderly as if they belonged to Miss
Maudie Atkinson, had Miss Maudie deigned to permit a geranium on her premises. People said
they were Mayella Ewell s (pg. 194). Known as the poor man s rose, the red geranium symbolizes
gentility. The flowersgrowing in the filthy jars represent Mayella and the conditions she lived in.
Mayella was a young girl that was living a terrible life and had no form of beauty in her life.
Attending to those flowers had finally gave Mayella a form of beauty and hope. They showed
Mayella that underneath the ugly and unappealing, there is still beauty. Another form of
symbolism is when Miss Maudie is compared to her azaleas. Miss Maudie hated her house: time
spent indoors was time wasted. She was a widow, a chameleon lady who worked in her flower

The Use Of Irony In Raymond Carver s Cathedral
When someone is oblivious to their prejudice, it can be difficult to get them out of that mold of
thinking. Biased people do not desire interactions with those they judge due to stereotyping and
ignorance. However, if biased people make an effort to connect to the misunderstood, minds can
become more open and they can put their prejudice to rest. Raymond Carvers short story named
Cathedral , tells of a visit that a blind man called Robert took to the narrator s home. Jealousy
from the narrator s wife s companionship with Robert and the narrator s prejudice causes him to
dislike Robert. However, at the end of the visit, the narrator and Robert create a drawing of a

narrator had proved the valid statement of Robert who had great warmth for mankind even with
physical disadvantages. However, the narrator couldn t get a clue of what his philosophy
hindered him from who had the advantage of vision. The narrator felt a sense of some sort of
hierarchy towards Robert who had a useful stance with it. Ironically, the narrator who was blind
and had a lot of disgust towards Robert ended up being the narrator s teacher in the sketch of the
Cathedral . The use of irony was more evident at the end of the narrative as the narrator didn t open
his eyes when he had the option. He put trust in the blind man as he opened his intellect that before

Theories Of Personality And Leadership Assessments Essay
Introduction There are multiple theories of personality and leadership assessments that have
proven effective in helping individuals achieve their full career potential. The Big Five theory of
personality, for example, measures the five broad areas of personality, including extraversion,
agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience (Srivastava, 2015).
Other types of assessments, such as the more simple leadership assessment we explored, simply
measure leadership qualities, such as emotional intelligence and confidence. In exploring a
couple of such resources in more depth, such as the leadership assessment provided by the
University of Kent s Career Enhancement Center, as well as the Myers Briggs Personality Type
Indicator, it is clear that understanding more about oneself can lead to enhanced career choices.
Based on the work of Carl Jung, Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs developed the Myers Briggs
Personality Type Indicator, a self inventory geared toward helping individuals determine their
personality types and individual areas of strength. By helping people understand themselves, Myers
and Briggs believed that they could help people select occupations that were best suited to their
personality types and lead healthier, happier lives (Cherry, 2015). This test, through helping me
explore my own personality, likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, and various preferences
and compatibilities, has been instrumental in affirming my

Diversification And Diversification For International Markets
Introduction:
Diversification and adapting to internationalisation is a way to survive in a competitive business
environment and is well researched and adopted in the business world. It is possibly the most
logical and secure way for companies to avoid that their share of a given market will not be taken
over by other competitors when they try to diversify technologically, geographically or product
wise. It also helps reduce the risk by spreading it into different markets. There are many assorted
works written about diversification and internationalisation in order to theoretically envisage the
optimal level of diversification for international markets that generates the highest growth rate with
a minimum level of risk.

Women and gender In 20th Century America
Abstract
Paid work for women moved from principally customary female situated employments to all the
more non conventional and already male arranged vocations. Ladies support in the workforce
prompted them to start careers in the field dominated by male in the 20th century. Career yearnings
were affected by elements, such as sexual orientation, financial status, race, occupation and
instruction level, and parental desires. This paper exhibits how women developed, changed and the
challenges they faced in the 20th century in America in the workforce and the advancement of
ladies careers, improvement and profession goals during the 20th century in United States. Also,
gender issues affecting women will be discussed in details during this period and how women
played their role in fighting for their rights.

Ladies legislative issues in the 20th Century came to past self characterized women s activists, as

Analysis Of Lincoln Electric s Website
117 Years of Excellence; this is the header of the Company History section of Lincoln Electric s
website. I began the analysis at the careers section, looking through a variety of job descriptions
and qualifications. The common requirements for management on the site are a Bachelor s degree
(Masters preferred), 5+ years of previous managementexperience, experience with Lean/Six Sigma
tools to create impactful business improvements, proven experience in implementing and/or
running an operation in an SAP environment, high level of integrity, confidentially, and
accountability, sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills, a well
defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management
skills.
As stated in the assignment profile, Lincoln Electric is considered one of the best managed
companies in the world. I believe this to be partially attributed to their hiring process. Lincoln
Electric has strict requirements to weed through unqualified candidates who will not buy in to the
company culture of excellence. This is an especially important aspect of their hiring process
particularly due to the fact of leadership a trait that plays a vital role in implementing and sustaining
a company s culture.
Leaders forge the path for a culture, and culture isn t created in a day. After the death of James F.

What Are The Similarities Between Internal And External...
Not all studies are perfect, and therefore there are aspects that need to be improved to make this
research more valid, reliable and accurate. These factors that need to be considered include internal
and external validity. Internal validity is concerned with eliminating confounding variables with a
study, whilst external validity refers to generalisation. (University of New England, 2000) Within
this article, the external validity is compromised as the internal validity is heavily controlled. The
participants were selectively chosen through criteria and all participants were mature aged men
with osteoarthritis. This controlled selection, therefore, makes the study difficult to be generalised
to the outer population, as the recruitment is specific.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The experiment itself was also not conducted in a controlled environment as each participant was
tested in different environments, which once again effects the internal validity of this study. Bias is
also evident in this article, which consequently impacts the reliability of this research. The drug
Meriva is mentioned more heavily than the drug chondroitin. The unsatisfactory amount of
information on the drug chondroitin makes it difficult for readers to thoroughly to grasp the full
understanding of the drug itself. The hypothesis and conclusion were not clearly evident or even
stated within the research article and therefore, this consequently effects the validity and reliability.
The procedure explained in the article was vague and contained little detail about how the method

Ethical Issue Of Animal Testing For Medical Research
he ethical issue of animal testing for medical testing is not new, for example the majority of the
common vaccines were developed because medical research that utilized animal testing. Many
philosophers have attempted to explain the rights of animals and some wrote on the lack of
inherent rights. This issue is difficult because animals can t speak for themselves but humans do
have a place to play in the fight for animal rights. I will apply the principle of utility along with the
moral theories of equality and speciesism in order show that animal testing for medical research is
not an ethical practice.
Principle of Utility
Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that argues that all people should act in ways that bring about as
much happiness as possible in the world and minimize pain. Mills (a supporter of utilitarianism)
wrote that no matter the situation the right action would be the action that tended to minimize the
suffering and pain, and maximize the pleasure and happiness, of all interested parties. Mills also
thought that the suffering, pain, pleasure and happiness of animals should be protected and
included in utilitarianism. Practically speaking, animal testing isn t just done to one or two animals
during an experiment but to a large number of them, animals are tortured and subjected to pain in
order to test medicines, medical treatments and more. I believe that animal testing when seen
through the utilitarian lens is flawed an corrupt. Animal Liberation written by

The Campaign Of 2016 Campaign
In modern campaign races, candidates must find new and unique ways to connect with United
States citizens. In the United States, the campaign of 2016 started off and continues to show a shift
in issues citizens currently find important. The campaign has been unique for who ran and continue
to run for the title of nominee. There are some veterans such as Hillary Rodham Clinton and some
new to the race such as Ben Carson. The Republican Nomination for 2016 more than the Democrat
s has brought a large spectrum of different candidates with distinctive rhetoric and stances on issues
to the public eye. An individual that stood out greatly against the grain was Donald John Trump.
Trump s work with The Apprenticedid help to get his face known in the public, but may not the
reason he attained a large support on the campaign trail. Other factors such as personality traits and
social media contribute additionally to how well Trump campaigned. Trump contain some traits
such as an appeal to voters through his rhetoric, an association with the Republican party, and
utilization of social media. Trump s effective usage of these two methods allowed him to become
the Republican Nominee.
Trump s appearance on social media platforms gave potential voters an idea of where they know
him prior to running for the presidential office. Donald Trump s television show, The Apprentice,
depicts many of the similar skills and traits the Republican Nominee implements into his campaign
strategy. The

  • 3. Thesis About Snow Treasure Have you ever thought about your country having a war with other country?? Snow Treasure by Marie McSwigan is a sad and memorable story of children carrying gold in Norway(Norway is their country) and adults fighting with Germans. This story is important to people who think war is nothing. Because in this story, they show how they are having a hard time during the war. I really admire character Jan Lasek, who is a Pole but he was once German solider. Then you ll ask me why. Because he risked his life to save Peter from German army. This story takes place in Norway during a war with Germans. The protagonist is Peter, a brave young boy about ten years old. He leads children to carry a gold in Norway to Uncle Victor, because Uncle Victor should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s important because it shows how much hard time they are having during the war and it teaches you how people get hurt by war. In the war between Norway and German, children always have to pull gold on the sled because Germans can take them. They carry more than 100kg. It will be really hard. And by hurting, sure it can be like shooting gun hurting, but if our heart hurts, it really hurts. Like with war, when people pass away, think about it. How will their family feel?? Really, really sad. So I think like war, we shouldn t make it happen. I was able to identify with Peter who was afraid at first to be the leader but later on he did a great job. I strongly recommend this book because it is touching and it shows how children has done a great job, with very responsible actions. I was very moved with Jan Lasek because even if he can die, he risked his life for Peter. How touching and amazing is that?? I think I can t have done it. I was inspired with Uncle Victor s idea. If children is around, who would think they are carrying a gold?? It was a great idea. It taught me that if we really want something, they risk their lifes to. Like for example, if my mother is sick, than I ll do anything to fix it. Won t you? It s a interesting story. It really made me sweat some times. And you ll be moved with what Jan Lasek has done for Peter. I really loved this book. I recommend to all my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In December 2004, it was decided that direct advances to priority sector will be encouraged, thus beginning a phased withdrawal of eligibility in special bonds of specified institutions. 1.3 In paragraph 90 of the Annual Policy, ibid, it was stated that one view is that lending to any infrastructure project should be made eligible for priority sector lending while making subtargets fungible within the overall target. There is another view that enlargement of areas has resulted in loss of focus. It is also held that credit growth in housing, venture capital and infrastructure has been strong while it has been sluggish in agriculture and small industries. Further, it is argued that only sectors that impact large population, weaker sections and are employment intensive such as agriculture, tiny and small industry should be eligible for priority sector. Since there are several issues that need to be considered in this regard, it is appropriate that these are debated and examined in depth . 1.4 In order to examine the issues raised in the Annual Policy, it was decided that an Internal Working Group be set up for the purpose. a) to examine the need for continuance of priority sector lending prescriptions; b) to review the

  • 8. White V Jones Case Abstract: The case of White v Jones [1995] is a famous case in the English tort law which concerns the liability of solicitors to the beneficiaries of the will with whom they have no contractual relationship if they performed their work negligently. This case raises the questions of professional negligence, the third party beneficiary (relationship) and the duty of care. In the case of White v Jones the Court of Appel followed the statement of Vice Chancellor Megarry in Ross v Caunters [1980] : In considering the liability question, it is of the utmost importance to keep in mind that if there is no liability, the result is striking: the only person who has a valid claim against the solicitor has suffered no loss, and the only person ... The answer seems to be persons who are so closely and directly affected by my act that I ought reasonably to have them in contemplation as being so affected when I am directing my mind to the acts or omissions which are called in question. The principles in Hedley Byrne Co Ltd v Heller Partners Ltd [1964] and Donoghue v Stevenson [1932] was confirmed in White v Jones [1995] . The significance of the case of Caparo Industries Plc v Dickman [1990] lies in the Caparo test which is stated by Lord Bridge: What emerges is that, in addition to the foreseeability of damage, necessary ingredients in any situation giving rise to a duty of care are that there should exist between the party owing the duty and the party to whom it is owed a relationship characterised by the law as one of proximity or neighbourhood and that the situation should be one in which the court considers it fair, just and reasonable that the law should impose a duty of a given scope upon the one party for the benefit of the ... • 9. Essay On Insanity Defense The insanity defense is the most controversial criminal defense that is used in courts (The Insanity). Ironically, it is the defense that is used the least. According to a professor of law at Santa Clara University, Professor Alexander, the plea is only used one percent of the time, and works less than half the time it is used (Steibel). In cases where it is used, it tends to get a lot of attention from the media which provokes debate from the public (The Insanity). Critics have reservations concerning the exploitation of the plea, namely that the defendants will use to get shorter sentences or to evade a guilty verdict completely (The Insanity). However, according to a study done by the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, the majority of those who are judged not guilty by reason of insanity do in fact suffer from a mental illness (The Insanity). History has shown us that we need the insanity defensebecause a person cannot be held responsible for their crimes if they do not have the mental capacity to understand what they have done wrong or cannot stop themselves from committing this crime, it would be unjust to punish someone who does not deserve it. The insanity defense is a plea from the defendant claiming he is not guilty as they do not have the mental capacity to appreciate what they have done wrong or comprehend the fact that they have committed a crime (Martin). The basis for insanity was introduced when Daniel M Naghten attempted to assassinate the prime ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Strategic Culture of China and Iran The culture of a region has a dramatic impact on the perspective and responses of its members. These perspective and responses are influenced by physical, political and social/cultural sources that are critical to understanding why certain strategic policies are adopted. This paper will analyze the social/cultural and political sources that affect the strategic culture of Chinaand Iran. The strategic culture of China is primarily influenced by social/cultural sources such as symbols, myths and defining texts that have resulted in China s sense of superiority and pacifist history. Chinese sense of cultural superiority is derived from its perception that their state coincided with the civilized world and Confucianism is critical to enlightenment of the barbarians, evidenced by the 300 Chinese institutes founded worldwide. Chinese leaders also believe that unlike western expansionist philosophy, theirs is one of pacifism. This is because of their geographical position and belief that it is the core of international systems and as long as other states understand their role, there is no need for war. Chinese pacifism is more a mindset of their leaders than fact based on their 4000 year history of internal strife, revolution, and external meddling of other countries. The Chinese believe that natural order requires a strong and stable China, one united internally and free from external influences and will use military force when needed. Consequently, most Chinese ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Parenting Style Of Parenting Styles Pin pointing a specific parenting style that I was raised by was quite difficult. I believe that most parents use different styles throughout the raising of their children. Of course, I do understand that this paper is to select the dominate style of parenting used for my upbringing, but I was raised in two different households. Each household had its own dominate parentingstyle, however most of my life I was raised by my mother, so I ll focus on her parenting style. As I stated above, I believe parents use almost all the parenting styles in dealing with different situations. My mother was no exception to this. She could go from authoritarian to permissive without even blinking an eye, which is why I was difficult for me to select a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overall, my mother was distant and didn t expect much from my siblings and me. An example of this parenting style would be when I found out I had received a scholarship from the Heartland Foundation. When my mother found out she went on multiple social media sites to tell everyone the good news, but she did not contact me at all. I ended up asking her to be my plus one to the scholarship dinner; I guess I m still stuck in the loop of trying to make her proud. On the way to the dinner the car was filled with silence. No congratulations. No I m proud of you moments. Just heavy silence. At the dinner we spoke maybe twenty words to each other. Most of these words were commenting on how nice the Bone Student Center looked and how delicious the meal was. When the dinner ended, my mother drove me back home and said goodbye. No I love you . Nothing but goodbye. Another example of my mother s disengagement would be when my sister was suspended multiple times and almost expelled. My sister tried to find attention from other people since she was receiving none at home. Her way of gaining this attention was getting into fights, and sadly, it worked. It took three incidents to gain the attention of my mother, and this only gained her attention because she received three different tickets for the fighting from the police ... • 12. Comparing James Eads How And Mary Shelley s Frankenstein With a first glance, an article of a man who, although he s rich, poses as a hobo and a novel about a mad scientist who s creation goes astray may not seem to have much in common. In many ways, James Eads How and Victor Frankenstein from Mary Shelley s Frankenstein are quite different. James Eads How gave up his riches to live a poor, but humble life. How was a real man that lived in the early 20th century. His story was widely popular, and writer and illustrator Tim Lane, recently made a comic about How s adventure called The Millionaire Who Lived as a Hobo and published it on the Riverfront Times, a news and culture website. While Victor Frankensteinis nothing more than a fictional character made up in 1818. A character of a science fiction novelwith questionable morals but a keen sense of what he wants in the world.... And each of these goals differ from how they were raised to become. For example, How grew up in a wealthy home, he had everything he needed and people who served him daily, even said in a comic made about him, it s stated: James Eads How was an unlikely crusader for the hobo class. He was born into enormous wealth. Even though his childhood was such, he always felt of the same level as the servants and maids who aided this. This may have also stemmed from his interest in theology. From the way he was raised, one wouldn t assume that he would become a homeless man, traveling by train trying to find work and ... King also proclaims, I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law (5). Essentially, King believes that if someone breaks an unjust law and accepts the consequence of imprisonment, then that individual is expressing respect for the law. By accepting the consequence and bringing attention to the injustice of the law, the individual is immensely benefiting society. Therefore, Sophocles and King believe that individuals have the right to disobey unjust laws in favor of a higher divine or natural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Cognitive Development (Piaget And Vygotsky) Essay INTEGRATIVE TERM PAPER I. Theoretical Perspectives 1. Introduction: There are a number of theorists that have ideas, charts, and graphs about how a child develops. Many are used today to determine when a child is mature, when they can feel emotion, and other important factors to which there are no strict textbook answers for. Piaget and Vygotsky are two theorists that offer theoretical perspectives on how a child develops. 2. Piaget s Constructivist Theory of Cognitive Development: Piaget had a phrase that said Assimilation and Accommodation lead to Adaptation. Assimilation is when a person fits his or her external information in with what he or she already knows. The change is external in this case. Accommodation is the exact opposite. ... A person could have a dysfunction or a special need that needs to be dealt with. For example, is a little boy has a brain dysfunction that disrupts his learning abilities, there is a high percentage of chance that he will not develop at the same pace and rate as other children in his generation and environment. With the Constructivist Theory, a child may not know how to deal with his or her internal emotions and/or thoughts. If that child does not know how to deal with his or her own internal workings, there is going to be much difficulty trying to deal with a personal accommodation. The same thing goes with assimilation. If a child does not know how to deal with his or her external environment, there is going to be difficulty changing them and dealing with assimilation. Dealing with the Developmental Theory (Stage Theory), a child may have the same dysfunction and not be able to move up the ladder of stages. There are those rare cases where a child may be stuck at one stage, or a child may not develop everything he or she needs to move on. A. Washington s writings on historically black colleges. While my paper will focus on the ways in which the historically black college continues to adhere to the model provided by Washington, it will also explore the ways in which it diverges from the early Hampton Tuskegee ideal. According to James D. Anderson in The Education of Blacks in the South, both contemporary observers and later historians have portrayed the white south as taking a monolithic view of black education. The first freedmen s schools were run by the freedmen and women themselves. Booker T. Washington s account of his own perseverence in securing his education is poignantly told in Up From Slavery. Yet with Washington s influence, a shift began from educating students in a liberal arts tradition to an industrial training mode. Unfortunately, by the turn of the century, with the help of the benefactor Samuel Chapman Armstrong, the Hampton Tuskegee Idea had come to represent the ideological antithesis of the educational and social movement begun by ex slaves (33). In order for freed slaves to fully participate in a democracy, a classical liberal curriculum was adopted in post Civil War black, elementary, normal and collegiate schools. As James D. Anderson aptly points out, Black leaders did not view their adoption of the classical liberal curriculum or its philosophical foundations as mere imitation of white schooling. Indeed, they knew many whites who had no education at all. Rather, they saw this curriculum as providing access to the best intellectual traditions of their era and the best means to understanding their own historical development and sociological uniqueness. Roger Revelle was the first person to recognize the impact of green house gases on our planet and he proposed measuring the amount of carbon dioxide in the earth s atmosphere. His measurements showed a chart of drastically rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which are harmful to earth s ecosystems. Scientists have concluded that there is a correlation between temperature and rising levels of carbon dioxide. When there is more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere the temperature rises because more heat from the sun is trapped inside. We have already begun to see the effects of these rising temperatures. • 37. The Role Of Women In The Massachusetts Bay Colony During the American colonial period, the presence of patriarchy was undeniable in both the Massachusetts Bay Colony and Chesapeake colony, but little is known about the important roles that women filled. Although there were many shared roles among women in both colonies, their level of importance in the success of their colonies differed. The MassachusettsBay Colonywomen were more essential to the success of their colony than the women of the Chesapeake colony, especially with regards to its economy, education, and religion. The difference in the economies of the two regions was the driving force that led to the strong role women played in Massachusetts Bay. The Chesapeake colony was colonized by settlers who wanted to make money quickly, and eventually, as the permanent tobacco producing settlements started to form, the need for indentured servants rose. Since men had more value as indentured servants, not many women immigrated, and as a result, a disproportionate men to women ratio was created. Consequently, many did not marry in Chesapeake, and the mostly male colonists led an isolated existence, unlike the communal town life and government established in Massachusetts Bay, where settlers came primarily for religious freedom. Thus, instead of isolated migration, there was family and group migration, leading to a more proportionate ratio of men to women. In Chesapeake, family life held little importance. They would become housewives and cater to their husband and children s needs. As the era progressed, so did the role of women. The once shy women were now changing into courageous and outspoken members of society. These women were open about their sexuality and embraced their intelligence. This new found independence was a turning moment in history and was given the name the New Woman. The ever changing role of women into a new found independence was prominent in literature as well. One of the most famous literatures is Dracula by Bram Stoker. It is evident that Bram Stoker wrote about the New Woman throughout his novel. It is questionable whether Bram Stoker wanted to embrace the New Woman in society or wanted to tear it down. In fact, neither is the case. Bram Stoker created the ideal women in Dracula in order to embrace the woman character without having to be open about their sexual identity. The portrayal of the women characters in the novel gives evidence on why Dracula created the ideal woman instead of highlighting the New Woman role. In early American History religion was the celebration of a God or Gods that represented the accomplishments of one s own. The importance of religion was the simple fact that people represented the type of life they lived based off their religious beliefs. People knew very well what others stood for but they did not accept it or tolerate it. I feel as though the old world had it worse than what we have now. The old world took matters into their own hands and did not allow those of other groups to continue their ways of worship. People did not accept different cultures into their villages or places of praises. The invitation was declined before even presented, they most definitely killed others faster than standing around telling people what they did wrong by entrusting in those about their religious faith! • 48. The Agile Software Development Process Essay Motivation Over the last several years, agile software development processes have become increasingly popular. According to Fowler (2003), the agile software engineering processes attempt to enable more flexible and adaptive software development than the traditional software engineering processes offer. Agile practitioners consider documentation as an important aspect for their projects but there is too little internal documentation available in their projects (Stettina and Heijstek, 2011). Although the documentation is mentioned, it is not anchored in the original process that relies on verbal communication (Schwaber and Beedle, 2001). Verbal communication is susceptible to lapses of memory and after some time it gets progressively harder to recall design rationale. This problem is compounded by team turnaround (Stettina and Heijstek, 2011). The main objective of documenting a project is to instruct consumers about the structure of the system, its functionality, operability and the design structure in case there is need to redesign the system. The primary consumers of the design documentation are those who maintain or upgrade the system. Other stakeholders, such as users, testers, and project managers may also need to know about the system (Selic, B., 2009). Theories Of Personality And Leadership Assessments Essay Introduction There are multiple theories of personality and leadership assessments that have proven effective in helping individuals achieve their full career potential. The Big Five theory of personality, for example, measures the five broad areas of personality, including extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience (Srivastava, 2015). Other types of assessments, such as the more simple leadership assessment we explored, simply measure leadership qualities, such as emotional intelligence and confidence. • 54. Analysis Of Lincoln Electric s Website 117 Years of Excellence; this is the header of the Company History section of Lincoln Electric s website. I began the analysis at the careers section, looking through a variety of job descriptions and qualifications. The common requirements for management on the site are a Bachelor s degree (Masters preferred), 5+ years of previous managementexperience, experience with Lean/Six Sigma tools to create impactful business improvements, proven experience in implementing and/or running an operation in an SAP environment, high level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability, sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills, a well defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills. As stated in the assignment profile, Lincoln Electric is considered one of the best managed companies in the world. I believe this to be partially attributed to their hiring process. Lincoln Electric has strict requirements to weed through unqualified candidates who will not buy in to the company culture of excellence. This is an especially important aspect of their hiring process particularly due to the fact of leadership a trait that plays a vital role in implementing and sustaining a company s culture. • 55. What Are The Similarities Between Internal And External... Not all studies are perfect, and therefore there are aspects that need to be improved to make this research more valid, reliable and accurate. These factors that need to be considered include internal and external validity. Internal validity is concerned with eliminating confounding variables with a study, whilst external validity refers to generalisation. (University of New England, 2000) Within this article, the external validity is compromised as the internal validity is heavily controlled. The participants were selectively chosen through criteria and all participants were mature aged men with osteoarthritis. This controlled selection, therefore, makes the study difficult to be generalised to the outer population, as the recruitment is specific.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The experiment itself was also not conducted in a controlled environment as each participant was tested in different environments, which once again effects the internal validity of this study. Bias is also evident in this article, which consequently impacts the reliability of this research. The drug Meriva is mentioned more heavily than the drug chondroitin. The unsatisfactory amount of information on the drug chondroitin makes it difficult for readers to thoroughly to grasp the full understanding of the drug itself. The hypothesis and conclusion were not clearly evident or even stated within the research article and therefore, this consequently effects the validity and reliability. The procedure explained in the article was vague and contained little detail about how the method was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Ethical Issue Of Animal Testing For Medical Research he ethical issue of animal testing for medical testing is not new, for example the majority of the common vaccines were developed because medical research that utilized animal testing. Many philosophers have attempted to explain the rights of animals and some wrote on the lack of inherent rights. This issue is difficult because animals can t speak for themselves but humans do have a place to play in the fight for animal rights. I will apply the principle of utility along with the moral theories of equality and speciesism in order show that animal testing for medical research is not an ethical practice. Principle of Utility Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that argues that all people should act in ways that bring about as much happiness as possible in the world and minimize pain. Mills (a supporter of utilitarianism) wrote that no matter the situation the right action would be the action that tended to minimize the suffering and pain, and maximize the pleasure and happiness, of all interested parties. Mills also thought that the suffering, pain, pleasure and happiness of animals should be protected and included in utilitarianism. Practically speaking, animal testing isn t just done to one or two animals during an experiment but to a large number of them, animals are tortured and subjected to pain in order to test medicines, medical treatments and more. I believe that animal testing when seen through the utilitarian lens is flawed an corrupt. Animal Liberation written by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
