2. Tropical Trees
Tropical Trees are trees found in tropical latitudes. These are trees which are
specially adapted to live in hot, wet climates or places where it can be very dry.
Some tropical areas may receive abundant rain the whole year round, but others
have long dry seasons that last several months and may vary in length and
intensity with geographic location.

3. 1. Deciduous Trees
Deciduous trees are trees that drop their leaves for part of the year. They are
found in temperate and tropical climates all over the world. Deciduous trees
have broad flat leaves that catch a lot of light and require a great amount of
water. In some cases, leaf loss coincides with winter - namely in temperate or
polar climates when there is less sunlight for the process of photosynthesis.
Deciduous trees lose their leaves during the dry season or other seasons,
depending on variations in rainfall. This allows the trees to enter a dormant
period during the difficult times as a means of survival. The process of
shedding unneeded parts, such as leaves, is known as abscission.

5. 2. Evergreen Trees
Evergreen trees do not shed their leaves throughout the year. There are
many different kinds of evergreen plants, both trees, and shrubs. Even in the
middle of winter when so many trees in cold climates have bare branches,
evergreen brighten up the landscape with vibrant green needles or leaves.
Most tropical rainforest plants are considered to be evergreens. In temperate
climates, evergreens can reinforce their survival. Evergreen leaf and needle
litter have a higher carbon-nitrogen ratio than deciduous leaf litter,
contributing to higher soil acidity and lower soil nitrogen content. These
conditions favor the growth of more evergreens and make it more difficult for
deciduous plants to persist.
