CLOZE PROCEDURE
1. DEFINITION
Cloze procedure is a paragraph or text that must be equipped with the
right words so that the paragraph can be understood. The appropriate
words to complete the cloze passages are words related to vocabulary
as well as related to grammar.
2. QUESTIONS FREQUENTLY ASKED
 Conjunction (conjunction / connector)
To know the exact conjunction in accordance with the context of the sentence
we must be able to understand the two sentences / phrases in the merge, then
select the appropriate conjunction.
 Word order
Usually a "NOUN PHRASE"), learn the pattern / arrangement of NOUN
PHRASE: "Determiner + Adjective + Noun."
 Derivation
To know certain types of words we need knowledge of affixes, prefix and
suffixes, to understand the characteristics, position / function of certain types
of words so as to determine the right choice.
 Phrase building
The relationship between a particular word with a series of prepositions that
usually follow. Learn related material such as: prepositional phrase, participle,
gerund, infinitive, dependent clause, conditional sentence and so on.
 Systemized related word (words defined by sentence context / reading)
Vocabulary is required to understand sentences / readings. (sometimes can be
determined by looking at the answer options that are not synonymous / have
the same meaning)

1. DEFINITION
A probes sheet might ask the student to
write the word of the thing he/she sees in the
picture, see words and write contractions,
hear the word and write it, see partial words
and write missing letters, etc. The probe can
given several times to determine reliability.
