Compare And Contrast Castro Vs Garrido
Ariel Castro vs Phillip Garrido What should be the punishment for abductors and rapist? In 2013
you may remember the story called the Cleveland Kidnappings about 3 women found on May 6,
2013 that were abducted between the years of 2002 2004 and raped. The man responsible for
that is Ariel Castro. The other man I ll be talking about is Phillip Garrido who abducted a woman
named Jaycee Dugard when she was 11 years old. She wasn t found for more than 18 years. The
women abducted by Ariel Castro were inspired that, one day they d be found too when they saw
the story of Jaycee Dugard being rescued on television. I ll be contrasting and comparing the
personal backgrounds, past crimes, and the current crimes of both... Show more content on

The first victim he abducted was Michelle Knight she was abducted on August 23, 2002 she was
21 years old. She was on her way to a social services meeting regarding custody of her son Joey.
But she wasn t sure what direction to go so she went to the Family Dollar to try to get change so
she could make a call. The Family Dollar wasn t able to give her change Castro overheard her
conversation and said he knew where to go and that he d give her a ride. She accepted his offer
because she knew his daughter Emily during the ride she told him he was going the wrong way
and he said he was going to his house so she could get a puppy for her son. Earlier she had
mentioned that her son loved puppies and that his had recently passed away. They also had a
conversation about his son Ariel Castro Jr being an ex employee at Burger King and that she
knew some of his other kids too. When they arrived at his house he told her the puppies were
upstairs as she was going upstairs she realized that this was a mistake and she d be there forever
because it was too silent. When she got into the room where he said the puppies were he walked
in and shut the door he said he wouldn t keep her there for long and that he wouldn t harm her if
she did what he said. Since she was 21 years old the police didn t conduct an extensive
investigation and her family didn t file one because they had assumed she ran away because she
couldn t handle the drama in her life. In 2003 the FBI took her off the America s Most Wanted
list because her family hadn t filed a missing person s report. During her captivity she became
pregnant 5 times and he made he miscarry by punching her in the stomach and starving her. She
has now changed her name to Lily Rose Lee. A year later he abducted Amanda Berry on April 21,

Female Roles Of Female Mobile Dj Essay
Female what? That s right, DJs. Women are beginning to blossom in an industry highly saturated
and associated with men, proving they can rise to the occasion. Female mobile DJ s, why aren t
there more? I Chose this question because I myself have been wanting to start DJ ing for a while
now and when people think of DJ s I assume they only think of males. This questionis a hot topic
and also very interesting to me because I will be soon DJ ing and would like to know why men
dominate this field. As I started conducting research on this question I started to find answers for
my question right away. I also looked up genderdiversity which means how different genders are
represented in a relevant setting. Though I am not a DJ yet it seems as if femaleDJ s have felt like it
s close to an impossible task in front of them. That despite pumping out great mixes and working
as hard as you can, the recognition from booking agents and promoters and the subsequent gigs
and success remain elusive. Why? Why do female DJ s get the short end? Why do many female
artists fail to break the top 10 lists of any kind? Or why can t some female DJ s build brands that
help them to achieve huge DJ ing success? As I stumble across potential answers for my question
the only thing that comes to mind is that females don t think they are good enough because of what
society says. And not just in DJ ing but, beyond in many other fields. Women consistently
underestimate their own talents and

The Federal Budget Deficit And National Debt
The Federal Budget Deficit and National Debt Basically, what the federal budget deficit is a
shortage of funds that are available for the government, where more money is being spent than
what the government receives. But, national is where the government borrows money through
various ways. The data for national debt and federal budget deficit from the year 2001 2013 is
given in the chart above. As we can see in the graph, the deficit is still remains in our economy
even though there had been a surplus in 1999 to 2001. But, we could see a lot if decreases such as
from the year 2004 2007, 2009 2010 and also from 201 2014, but generally the deficit kept
increasing yearly. The data provided is in trillions and a positive value means... Show more content

From the graph above, for instance, we could say that the budget deficit increased rapidly from
2007 2009 and we could say that the main is due to the Great Recession. The governments act
trying to counter attack this effect by improving fiscal policy for the betterment of business
cycle lead to more outlay than revenue, which resulted in the increase of the deficit promptly.
So, therefore borrowing the money to deal with deficit lead to increase in the national debt.
Crowding out occurs when spending by an individual or an organisation or to be more precise,
private spending decreases and by increasing the government spending. People sometimes use
this as an alternative replacement and lets the government to spend more. This is a very big
problem causer because as the government decided to spend more, it leads to higher budget
deficit and debt and the overall spending may decline rapidly. So, therefore if they let the
government to spend more instead of them it results to the lesser consumption of resources and
spending on it. This can lead to decreasing the interest rates which results in less investment by
people and major drop in the business sector. In order to shift the economy up from the times and
effect of the great recession, government tend to raise the budgets at times, government give more
outlays in the form of social security and other fiscal policy techniques. As a result, the government
borrows capital to pay for this,

Is there a Correlation between Gender and the Choice of a...
Have you ever wondered whether or not there was any correlation between gender and college
major? We conducted a survey consisting of 105 people (51 males and 54 females) and of those
people, 34.3% (17 males and 19 females) did not think that there was a direct correlation between
the two. Our goal was to see if genderdid in fact influence one s choice of major, or if it had no
influence at all. After proper surveying and thorough analysis of literature, we found that both
female and malestudents generally have college majors concentrated in certain areas and industries.

Both of these articles are accurate examples as to a potential reason of females having specific
college majors. Social norms may have an impact on college major choice for women as well.
Women tend to be less motivated by the promise of monetary success and more by their passions.
Our survey results supported this social norm because the vast majority of females said that they
chose their major because they enjoy that field of study, whereas the vast majority of males said
they chose their major to obtain a high salary.
Males:
Through thorough research and survey analysis we were able to conclude that there tends to be
a higher population of male students pursuing Engineering and Business majors compared to all
other college majors. Not only is this true at North Carolina State University, but we also found
this true for other universities in the US as well. Out of 51 males who completed our survey,
roughly 22 percent informed us they were enrolled in some form of Business major, whereas
only 8 percent of the females surveyed were enrolled in a business major. Not only were there a
higher percentage of males pursuing Business majors, but there were also a higher percentage of
males seeking an Engineering degree. Out of 51 males surveyed 25 percent expressed they were
currently enrolled in hopes of seeking an Engineering degree, while only 2 percent of all females

Waiting For Guffman
These past two weeks, while the theatre has been relatively calm, I chose three different pieces
of media in order to delve further into my theater knowledge. The first of which is Waiting for
Guffman , a mockumentary on the beginning of a theater company in Blaine, Missouri. The town
s resident director, Corky St. Clair, and the amateur cast of a corny small town musical
production go overboard when they hear that Mr. Guffman, representative of the prestigious New
York based Oppenheimer Organization, will be in attendance. This film was a suggestion from
my mentor, Ms. Hawkins, because it relates to many of the experiences I ve had in my third space.
For example, the cast have to go around town promoting the show in order to get people to... Show

It is tough to not be your biggest critic, but it is better to leave that job to others. Also, actors
should treat auditions like rehearsals, as if you already have the role and are going to rehearsal.
Apparently this is a commonly used tactic that many actors use to keep calm in an audition
setting. Another tip was that if you risk failure, you can make truthful discoveries about yourself
or a character. Failures become the struggles that lead to success; the word, failure, carries more
weight than it should, and most failures are actually setbacks. The only time you truly fail is
when you quit because you become incapable of success. The final piece of advice that I found
helpful was to find other creative outlets. In a field like acting, the majority of the job is going to
auditions and waiting. Therefore, it becomes imperative that you find ways to use your creativity,
rather than waiting around for someone to give you a part. Writing your own material can
showcase yourself well, especially if you do not have representation. It is ok to get a little lost, to
ask yourself deep questions, and to not have all the answers. What matters most is that you never

The Stranger Research Paper
The exposure of religion usually starts at a young age, or in people s teenage years. When
somebody is not exposed at these ages they usually seek it out for themselves or never do. When
they know nothing about religion or care nothing about it they usually disregard morals. This
means they do what they want because they do not believe in right and wrong. When they do not
believe in these things they are usually seen as outsiders to the rest of the world. Their way of life
is affected like their emotions, relationships, and judgement. It is hard for them to get into a
relationship because they have little or show no emotions and can sometimes make bad decisions.

He shot an Arab that had been following Raymond because of what he did to the girl. Also
because they had gotten into an argument earlier in the day one in which Raymond had been
hurt. He walked up to the spot where he thought they would be and shot and then waited and
then shot him multiple times. He not only shot him multiple times but the Arab did not even try
to defend himself. Even though he shot him multiple times and had a reason he states I never
intended to kill the Arab (Camus 102). When at the trial the prosecutor supposedly observed him
various times once he even said that Meursault was already a criminal at heart (Camus 122).
This statement was only made on the physical behavior Meursault was displaying on the day of
his mother s funeral. When the whole trail was supposed to be about how he killed the Arab his
accusers somehow kept bringing up the fact that he showed no affection towards his mother at the
funeral. This show just how the society he is in and how they act is totally opposite from his point
of views. Meaning that how he does things will be seen by society as uncanny and they will
condemn it as wrong. In the article Justice and Morality in The Stranger by A. Chalana proves this
by saying, the justice given to Meursault by the court doesn t represent the beliefs of those who

Thesis On Headscarf
When Rayouf Alhumedhi and her friends chat together on the messaging app WhatsApp, they don t
use names to identify themselves. Instead, they use emojis. But Rayouf, who wears a headscarf,
couldn t find one that looked like her.
My friends, who don t wear the headscarf, they found something, Rayouf says. For me? I had to
opt to not use an image of a woman wearing a headscarf. Because there isn t one.
The 15 year old high school student decided to change that.
Rayouf was born in Saudi Arabia and currently lives in Berlin, Germany. She wrote a proposal to
create a hijab emoji. Hijab is another word for headscarf. Many Muslim women wear such scarves
every day for religious reasons. For many Muslims, it is not proper for a women s hair to ... Show

She wrote to Apple asking for a headscarf emoji, but she never heard back from the company.
Then, on the app Snapchat, she watched a video about how to propose a new emoji. The video
explained that anyone can ask Unicode for a new emoji, and gave directions on how to get started.
Rayouf sent two paragraphs describing her idea to Unicode. Her proposal was much shorter than
typical emoji requests, which can include pages and pages of details and designs. Still, she heard
back from a member of Unicode, who offered to help her shape up her idea for formal
consideration. An artist created the headscarf emoji design for her.
Rayouf s proposal would create a headscarf emoji that could be used with the many human
emojis that already exist. It works kinds of like putting an outfit on a paper doll. The proposal is
supposed to be formally reviewed by Unicode in November. If it is approved, the new emoji could
be announced as soon as mid 2017.

La Purisima A.) The mission chapel is beautiful. The beauty of this chapel can compare to the
Santa Barbara one. They both are bright in color. When in the chapels I get a warm feeling. Old
artwork. Kind of built like an ancient style building. Candles light up the room. B.) The natives
daily duties consisted of mixing mud with straws to make adobe bricks to build. The Spanish
soldiers lived a more foreign like lifestyle because the mission and their teachings were rather new
to the natives. Some natives were blacksmiths and would build and repair the tools of Spanish
society. Gradually, Chumash stone implements gave way to iron and steel. The Natives also lived

Tragedy Commons
Econ145 assignment 1, Minyeong Kim(A91424682), Professor Squires
In the first reading which is called Tragedy of the Commons, written by Garrett Harden, the author
Harden talks about the problems of the public goods and some solutions as well. The author
basically insists that there are no technical solutions for the problems caused by overpopulation.
He also gives some examples of the tragedy of the commons and the reasons why these problems
cannot be overcome. He mentioned about the appearance of the atomic resources which is
considered as an infinite resource, and he says that people usually tend to consider this infinite
resources as a solution of the problem of overpopulation. However, the author claims that the
infinite resources is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, he explains that the difference between public goods and common pool resources.
For example, we can say that groundwater, grazing and trees are common pool resources. If a
person uses resource at once and gets benefits from it, the value of the resource becomes lower
to the another person. On the other hand, using of the public goods does not make lower the
value of the resources whoever uses it. He gives an unusual observations regarding Indian
Village which has no clearly defined social domain or institution separate from state authority.
The author observed total of forty one villages, and he found out that people in all of the villages
share the goods and services very effectively and evenly based on common property rights. The
reason why this village could use resources properly is that there are four main institutions; a
village council, village standing fund, village guards, and common irrigators; which have their own
common property rights. These institutions also have their own rights to do such as council
organize the supply of the public goods, or village guards protect crops from livestock etc. Also, all
the services in this village except water distribution are financed from the village standing fund. As
a result, since these institutions have their own common property rights, they cannot help but have
responsibility to protect village properly. Also, this well made common property rights of the
village could protect total tragedy of the commons as a result. Furthermore, the author gives
another example about grazing in a village. For example, as he mentions above, every single
rational herdsman prefers to keep as many cattle as they can to make higher benefits. To keep as
many cattle as they can, they have to protect them by hiring

Icarus Metamorphosis
Oscar Wilde, in his quote that praises Icarus fearless flight, takes an opposing view to the lesson
learned from reading the Greek myth of Icarus and Daedalus. In the myth, Icarus hubris, or
extreme arrogance, in defying the Gods and ignoring his father s instructions about flying too
close to the sun, is punished by his wings melting and falling to his death. The theme is that one
should respect rules and their elders and live within their limits. However, Oscar Wilde put a
different spin on the lesson to be learned from Icarusadventure and tragedy. Wilde poetically said
that Icarus success was his fearless flight and that if he didn t take the risk of flying too close to
the burning light of the sun, then that would be the greatest tragedy of them all. He believes
that the adventures and risks we take in life are what make life worth living, and that a life lived
that does not experience the thrills of risk, adventure, and possibly success, even for just a
moment, is a life not well lived. In a sense, Wilde believes that hubris is needed to do amazing
things. The arrogance to ignore the risks may result in great successes, and if you try hard and don
t succeed, then even the brave attempt is success. The only failure or tragedy is not to try at all....

The Confederate Flag Is A Symbol Of Southern Pride
Another avenue of views about the controversy that the Confederate flag fuels racism or gives
our impressionable young men and women an avenue to racism tendencies comes from our
political parties and the platforms that they adopt. Democrat and Republican Party do have
different views of this controversy. As in every issue there will always be conflicting numbers
that make no sense, but it seems that the Democratic Party view of the controversy had the
biggest swing in recent months. In gallop polls of the 1990s Democrats were solidly behind the
Confederate flag as a symbol of Southern pride and remembering the historical value of the
Confederate flag as roughly 60% of Democrats during this period had that opinion. Since the
recent controversy began that number has went down to the latest poll taken in July of 2015
that showed that on 70% of Democrats now believe that the Confederate flag represents racism.
With the recent debate and pictures of a young white male who killed 9 black church goers
draped in a Confederate flag may surely have boosted numbers it still is a large growing concern
in the Democratic Party that their thinking could have been wrong in past years. The Republican
Party through the same time frame have steadied their view and not changed much over the years.
As in the 90s the Republican Party view of the Confederate flag has always been in favor of the
flag being displayed at government buildings. When the poll was taken in July of 2015 roughly the

Why The Atomic Bomb Did Not Win The War
Why the bomb seemed like it would make the war worst it actually ended the war quicker. The
war ended quicker because it finally caused Japan to surrender and accept the defeat. The atomic
bomb did not win the war. Japan had been defeated already by land, sea, and air campaign that
went before. It is reasonable to conclude, however, that the bomb did force the Japanese
surrender and considerably sooner than it would have occurred otherwise. (Text 1 Page 8). The
bomb did not win but it ended it because Japan s way of fighting is fight to the last man and it is
better to die in combat than to surrender. If the bomb had been dropped sooner it would ve been
the factor that won the war, but since Japan had little fighting effort in the air

Steroid Hormones Research Paper
Hormones are compounds produced by the endocrine system that chemically regulate specific body
functions. Steroid hormones have a biochemical unique 4 ring structure, including three 6 carbon
rings and one 5 carbon ring. Androgens are steroids hormones synthesized primarily in the gonads
and adrenal glands. Testosterone, the key androgen, affects sexual features and development. It
maintains nitrogen balance and facilitates protein synthesis (anabolism). In men, it is made in large
amounts by the Leydig cells of the testes and in women, by the ovaries. The pituitary gland in the
brain secretes hormones called luteinizing hormones (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)
which regulate the number of Leydig cells in the testes. Also, LH controls how much testosterone
the Leydig cells produce by regulating the expression of 17 b hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase. Since
this enzyme mediates the rate limiting step of testosterone synthesis, its inhibition can stop the
synthesis of. Males synthesize 2.5 to 11mg of Testosterone a day while females produce about 0.25
mg daily.
Testosterone is not water soluble; it gets through the cell s phospholipids membrane well but cannot
flush easily into the bloodstream. Once synthesized, testosterone is secreted into the blood and is
carried to target cells in the male reproductive organs. Most ... Show more content on

Reflection For My Personal Assignment
My theme for my second final piece follows on from my last theme of colour. This piece also
expresses personality through the use of colour, however, I moved away from using colour to
form the portraits and decided to make the background of my final piece to focus on colour and
pattern. I want to create a sense of how my personality is like just by the sight of my drawing
and background. Originally, my idea began with the thought of creating two different pieces.
The message I wanted to convey with this was to show the growth of my personality from then
till now. The first piece idea consisted of a portrait drawing of me as a young child while the
background the background would be either patterns or random painting techniques. The pattern
determined how my personality was like as a young child (for example, a structured background
with repeated pattern shows a confident and determined personality while random mark
makings reflect a creative or angry personality). I wanted this drawing to have smooth pencil
strokes to create a pure and soft look to represent my young age. For my second drawing of me
in my represent state, I wanted the pencil strokes (used to create the drawing) more rough such
as cross hatching strokes technique. The cross hatches will be a representation of me being
more confident in myself as well as how the idea of who I am has developed to this age.The
background for the first drawing applies to the second one also. During the process of my
research, I decided to focus on creating one final piece. The final piece would be my idea of
using drawing myself from a young age that I was and then doing a background pattern following
the design idea I previously mentioned. Throughout this second part of this project, I researched
on mark making drawing techniques from artists such as Rembrandt and Da Vinci. Rembrandt s
marks of his drawing overlap each other many times. Rembrandt focus on using his marks to create
form and tones, while Da Vinci s mark makings are more structured and technical due to his
engineering experience. Davinci s marks mainly arranged in a diagonal order. In addition to mark
making, I researched on drawing techniques used to drawing children with. From that

History of Special Needs Ireland
History of Special Needs Provision In Ireland
Special needs provision in Ireland has evolved since the founding of the state in 1919. Until the
early 1990s practically all education and care of children were carried out by the religious orders in
Ireland. The government therefore had little need for policies or legislation surrounding education
and care.
Ireland established its education system in 1831 while under English rule. This made it mandatory
for children between the ages of six and fourteen to attend school. The Department of Education
was established in 1924. However, the government did not consider that the education of children
with special needs was necessary as their needs were seen as purely medical. It was considered more

However separate schools continued throughout the 70s and 80s.
In 1971 the primary curriculum was introduced. This led to most special schools and classes
providing a modified curriculum for their students. The Department of Education developed
Curriculum Guidelines for Schools for the Moderately Handicapped. One important principle of
these guidelines was that children have needs as children that have to be satisfied at school as well
as their needs as future adults.
The notion of integration began to appear in the mid eighties with the idea that special classes
could be part of mainstream schools and also from parents who were not availing of special
education. In a report on the training and education of severely and profound mentally
handicapped children in Ireland 1983 it was recognized that these children should also be entitled
to education. Teachers were to be trained to educate such children in special classes within
mainstream education. By 1993 over 2000 pupils were being educated in such a way.
In 1993 the report of the Special Education Review Committee (SERC) was published. This report
dealt comprehensively with the educational implications of special needs. It provided a definition
of special needs which included those with severe and profound difficulties through to those who
were exceptionally able and included both physical and mental disabilities. It recognized that the

Alteration In Frankenstein
Any baker knows that when following a recipe, there are certain ingredients that can be added in
decreased or increased quantities, substituted with another ingredient, or excluded as a whole,
while still not affecting the overall outcome of the recipe. On the other hand, there are other
ingredients that must be measured precisely in order for the recipe to be successful. The
aforementioned description holds true for literary works, as well. The success of some pieces
relies heavily on a strong plot, while the success of others is found primarily from the quality of
characters and setting. To construct a successful Frankensteinstory, one must be sure to include the
creation of the monster, the human like qualities embodied by the monster,... Show more content on

In containing this theme, the tale will reveal how destructive these prejudices can be to the
individual, group, and society as a whole. These social prejudices were best showcased in Mary
Shelley s 1818 novel Frankenstein, in which the Creature was continually judged based upon his
physical appearance instead of his emotional and intellectual attributes. Not only was the Creature
judged by his father, but by other characters throughout the novel including William, the DeLacey
family, and other townsfolk. These prejudices took a heavy toll on the Creature, as seen through
his emotional responses and his sporadic actions towards other humans. All in all, these
prejudices ended up being harmful not only to the Creature, but to all whom he interacted with
due to their effect on him. This theme is so vital to maintaining the Frankenstein story that it
seemingly reoccurs in every adaptation that we covered this semester. However, out of all of
these adaptations, Philip K. Dick s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
undoubtedly does the best job at portraying the theme of social prejudices against one particular
group. Throughout the novel, the entity of the androids was judged and looked down upon. The
prejudices against androids not only affected the androids themselves but affected Rick Deckard
as his life s work was terminating these androids, Iran as she didn t enjoy Deckard s profession, John

Hitler s Foreign Policy During The World War II
The official start of the Second World War is most commonly linked with the German invasion of
Poland on September 1, 1939. Nevertheless, there are still ongoing disagreements as to whether
Adolf Hitler, the leader of Germany at the time, aspired to spark an extensive world war through his
actions in Eastern Europe. In the years leading up to September 1939, Hitler s foreign policy had
become increasingly dependent on the idea of expansionism. Constructed through Hitler s foreign
policy at the time, there are many historians that view the occupation of Poland as nothing more
than an extension of the two previous successful Nazi annexations of Austria and Czechoslovakia,
with Hitler expecting a coy reaction from the other European countries. Richard Overy and A. J. P.
Taylor are among the historians that believe that the outbreak of war ensuing the Polish invasion,
was a direct result of the underestimations generated by the German government, who were heavily
distracted by continuous issues occurring inside of the Reich. In contrast, some historians including
Adam Tooze and Klaus Hildebrand, view the invasion of Poland as much more than just a trial of
expansion. These historians believe that the invasion was a conscious attempt to draw Europe into
a conflict that would catapult Germany to the top of the European powers by increasing their
influence and status throughout the world. These historians acknowledge that Germany had
prominent racial motivations at the time that

Essay about Globalization and SC Johnson
Globalization is the shift toward a more integrated and interdependent world economy (Hill,
2005). Globalization has several different areas including the globalization of markets and of
production. The Globalization of markets is the blending of different markets from different
nations into one large global marketplace. Cross border trading has made it easier to sell
internationally. Companies can sell standardized products efficiently and effectively all over the
world thus helping to build a global marketplace. The globalization of production refers to the
sourcing of goods and services from locations around the globe to take advantage of national
differences in the cost and quality of factors of production (such as labor, energy,... Show more

There are many major drivers for globalization. There are two factors that seem to drive the trend
toward greater globalization. The first factor is the decline in international trade barriers that has
occurred since the end of World War II. Once the barriers were removed then international trade
had a chance to grow and change the economy to a more global one. Tariffs were fees charged on
top off the cost of imported goods. The hope was to deter people from choosing the imports,
instead choosing the domestic goods. Once the tariffs were stopped, many more people were able
to buy and sell imported goods.
The second factor is the numerous technological advancements in recent years pertaining to
communication, information processing, and transportation technologies.
The development of the microprocessor was a huge step forward in computing technology. The
microprocessor allowed growth of high powered, low cost computers that could handle much more
information than ever before. This enabled countries to grow their education and manufacturing
capabilities greatly in order to compete in a global market place.
Lastly, containerization has forever changed the transportation business by lowering the costs of
shipping goods over long distances. Before containerization, it cost time, money, and labor when
shipping items over many miles. In the 1970s and 1980s, once containerization took charge, then

Pantheon Artisit Report
First, Chris and I looked online for the proportions of the Pantheon in order to properly scale it
down to a model size. I used our domes planned diameter of 7 inches and compared it to that of
the real Pantheon dome diameter to find a ratio. We were able to use this ratio to scale the sizes
of our model. Next, we used a compass to sketch a circle with a radius of 3.625 inches into a
Maple Log and then proceeded to cut it out using a bandsaw. Due to the fact that the shape was not
a perfectly cut, we used a lathe a machine designed to shape woodor other materials by rotating the
piece being worked on and using changeable cutting tools to make it into an exact cylinder. We
did the same process for the dome; however, there were slight differences. The dome was made
out of a Red Cedar Log and had a radius of 7 inches. Also it was shaped like a dome rather than a
cylinder and only had a height of 1 and 3/4 inches. In addition, while we were creating its dome
shape on the lathe, we made indents (rings) in the side to make it look similar to the real Pantheon
s dome. After that, we made the front portion which consists of a rectangular prism that sits flush
against the cylindrical part of the pantheon, a triangular prism, and columns. This part of the
building process was far easier and relied more on accurate measurements. The rectangular base that

The Scientific Reasoning Behind Seatbelts
Motion is how everything in the universe moves, movement of the solar system never stops and
is constantly moving but at a very slow speed. There are three laws in motion that explain
movement, they are the Newton s three laws of motion named after Isaac Newton. The Newton
s first law states that an object that is a rest will stay at rest unless an outside force is acted upon
it and an object that is in motion will stay in motion unless an outside force is acted upon it. This
is also called as inertia , which means the property of an object to restrict its motion. Examples
of inertia would be when a car is driving at a constant speed and instantly stops the person will
fall forward if there is no seatbelt. The seatbelt is a safety device that is commonly found on car
seats and aircraft seats, it is made from strong durable materials such as fabric, nylon or
polyester. Cars that are manufactured are required to have seatbelts due to road safety laws. The
law was introduced in the 1970s, it was shown that having seatbelts reduced the amount of road
deaths. The seatbelt was invented by George Cayley in the 1800 s, the seatbelt appeared on
planes in the 1900 s but was later developed to a three point seatbelt by Nils Bohlin. The purpose
of seatbelts is to save lives during a sudden stop of movement. The seatbelt was designed to
restrain the person from forward motion that may occur in a collision or a sudden stop. Wearing a
seatbelt is the simplest way to reduce death or

Old Barn Research Paper
The history of a barn can tell someone a lot about a place and the values of that place. Restoring
a barn takes time and effort, just like anything good in life. Barns are used for much more than
just a storage place, and they can describe a location or be part of a place s history. An old barn
could just be a pile of rotting wood, but by the same token, the Mona Lisa could simply be
described as a piece of canvas with some pigments attached. As one can see, when looking at barns
through different perspectives, one might gain a new appreciation. Barnpreservation is an important
way for the values of a society to be preserved just as certainly as art preservation helps society to

Abstraction Is An Old Story With The Philosophers
Abstraction is an old story with the philosophers, but it has been like a new toy in the hands of
the artists of our day. Why can t we have any one quality of poetry we choose by itself? We can
have in thought. Then it will go hard if we can t in practice. Our lives for it.
Granted no one but a humanist much cares how sound a poem is if it is only a sound. The sound
is the gold in the ore. Then we will have the sound out alone and dispense with the inessential. We
do till we make the discovery that the object in writing poetry is to make all poems sound as
different as possible from each other, and the resources for that of vowels, consonants, punctuation,
syntax, words, sentences, metre are not enough. We need the help of context ... Show more content

Granted again that it has an equal claim with sound to being a poem s better half. If it is a wild
tune, it is a Poem. Our problem then is, as modern abstractionists, to have the wildness pure; to
be wild with nothing to be wild about. We bring up as aberrationists, giving way to undirected
associations and kicking ourselves from one chance suggestion to another in all directions as of a
hot afternoon in the life of a grasshopper. Theme alone can steady us down. just as the first
mystery was how a poem could have a tune in such a straightness as metre, so the second mystery
is how a poem can have wildness and at the same time a subject that shall be fulfilled.
It should be of the pleasure of a poem itself to tell how it can. The figure a poem makes. It begins
in delight and ends in wisdom. The figure is the same as for love. No one can really hold that the
ecstasy should be static and stand still in one place. It begins in delight, it inclines to the impulse,
it assumes direction with the first line laid down, it runs a course of lucky events, and ends in a
clarification of life not necessarily a great clarification, such as sects and cults are founded on, but
in a momentary stay against confusion. It has denouement. It has an outcome that though
unforeseen was predestined from the first image of the original mood and indeed from the very
mood. It is but a trick poem and no poem at all if the best of it was thought of first and saved for
the last. It

Music, Language, And Characters In The Hobbit
Did you know that in The Hobbit many magical creatures like the goblins, elves, and dwarves
sing songs that reveal many things about them. In this novel music plays a role in the
development of the story and characters. The different creatures songs vary in tone, content, and
structure that reveal many things about the magical creatures. First, after the dwarves or the
unexpected party arrived they sang a song about an adventure that they would ask Bilbo to join
and what it was about. The tone of the song was to persuade and inspire Bilbo to agree to go. For
example the dwarves sand, Far over the Misty Mountainscold. This line was repeated multiple
times in the song and caused Bilbo s Tookish side to want to see the great mountains and go on
an adventure. The poem s content consisted of explaining the reasons to go on the adventure.
They sung, To win our harps and gold from him. This explains that they must return to their
ancestors land to win back the riches that were taken by Smaug. There also was a lot of rhyme
in this song, Tolkien states the dwarves sing Far over the misty mountains cold To dungeons deep
and caverns old We must away ere break of day To seek the pale and enchanted gold. This is a
great example of rhyme the ending sounds of cold, old, and gold sound alike. The tone, content,
and structure signal features about the dwarves. This song showed that the dwarves are very
adventurous and brave. Since they must cross back over the dangerous,

Essay on Abortion, Pope John Paul II and Peter Singer
Abortion, Pope John Paul II and Peter Singer
Abortion is one of the most controversial issues today. It has become a question of not only ethics,
but morals. In the 1973 case of Roe v Wade the Supreme Court ruled that a woman has the right to
terminate a pregnancy by abortion within the first six months of the pregnancy. However,
conservative Presidents have changed the legislation enough to allow states to restrict abortion in
various ways (Practical Ethics, Peter Singer). In the following paper, I will summarize the views on
abortion of Pope John Paul II and philosopher, Peter Singer. These two men have very conflicting
opinions about abortion.

The way of death is this: ... they kill their children and by abortion cause God s creatures to

undeniable value on the first commandment. Even in the first centuries, murder was considered
one of the three most serious sins. This should not come as a surprise. To kill something that
was created by, and in the image of, God should be considered a serious sin. The most important
case involving the first commandment of You shall not kill is when it refers to innocent human
beings. This is especially so when it refers to defenseless, weak, human beings such as an unborn
child or infant. The taking of an innocent life, especially at it s beginning or end, is gravely
immoral. This direct and voluntary action will always be regarded as morally evil and can never
be considered as necessary, either as an end, or as means to a good end. Nothing and no none can
in any way permit the killing of an innocent human being, whether a fetus or an embryo, and infant
of an adult ... no one is permitted to ask for this act of killing, either for him/herself or for another

Examples Of Hermeneutical Injustice
In this paper, I would like to argue that people with medical condition the is still misunderstood and
largely undiagnosed does experience hermeneutical injustice, rather than a mere circumstantial
epistemic bad luck as categorized by Miranda Fricker (2007). The argument provided by Fricker for
differentiating hermeneutical injustice and circumstantial epistemic bad luck is invalid most of the
time. This is because those patients continually experience unequal hermeneutical participation and
background social conditions that maintained the relevant hermeneutical gap. Before presenting my
arguments, I would first examine Fricker s view on hermeneutical injustice and the poignant case of
circumstantial epistemic bad luck. Next, the unequal social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even if questions about his feelings were being asked, questions that are opposing to the doctor s
judgements are barely asked. Patients are usually hermeneutically marginalized in a way that their
views are often being excluded from epistemic consideration. This may be attributed by the
difference in social position of doctors and patients. Doctors usually hold greater social power than
patients due to their profession. The power can be exercised unconsciously to marginalize the
hermeneutical participation of the relatively powerless patient groups. In the case of diseases that
are highly infectious and fatal, the usual response is avoiding contact with those patients instead of
searching and learning more information about that disease. Hence, the medical condition remains
misunderstood. Salient negative resources are more likely to be left in the hermeneutical pool
because those are the ones which are noticeable to the dominant group. True resources that
captures the patients medical situation and experience can be ignored. Hence, there is a
prejudicial exclusion from the pooling of knowledge, which is the primary harm of hermeneutical
injustice identified by Fricker. Consider the following case: there is a disease that has similar
symptoms as being physically abused, in which bruises and bone fracture are the common and
frequent symptom. Patients with such disease visited several large hospitals, but all medical staffs
conclude that the patient has been physically abused and refuse to agree that they are symptoms of
a disease or investigate further. The medical staffs have used the usual interpretation of treating the
presence of bruises and bone fracture as a physical abuse in preference of accepting the very
unlikely but true interpretation held by the patients. Those who are living or had close contact with
the patients with such disease may be accused of physically

The Ugly Truth About Mainstreaming Classrooms
The Ugly Truth About Mainstreaming Classrooms Gabrielle Wooten Towson University Abstract
Full inclusion classrooms hinder the disabled students abilities by making the students feel
isolated, causing lower grades, and lacking the proper help the students need to succeed. These
disadvantages and the support used proves that the segregated classroom allow the special needs
students to focus and the general students to not be distracted as well. With the students
undivided attention, the students , in excluded classrooms, grades improve greatly. As more
people know about full inclusion, there is more of a chance to keep it out of school systems
everywhere. Introduction Full inclusion or mainstreaming classrooms is when special needs
students are assimilated into a general classroom setting. On the other hand, the special needs
classrooms are set aside to allow disabled students to learn at a different pace with a certified
teacher. The census has reported Of the 53.9 million school aged children (aged 5 to 17) in the
U.S. civilian no institutionalized population, about 2.8 million were reported to have a disability
in 2010 (Brault, 2011, p. 1). These children require special attention from properly trained teachers
who can help them succeed. Since the number of special needs students is on the rise, full inclusion
has become a popular topic among education reformers. The full inclusion of a class can mean the
difference between passing

application under sections 137F and 137G of the Financial Advisers Act 2008. On 2 November
2012, the FMA applied to the High Court in Wellington seeking permission to appoint receivers
to manage the business of David Ross and his associated companies. The High Court issued an
interim order to freeze the assets of David Ross and the various companies under him as a result
of the application. As a result of the serious concern about dysfunction and adequacy of the
management of the business , the FMA decided to conduct an investigation of Ross s business and
companies. Main concerns put forward included a failure to make decisions, a failure to implement
requests from investors for payment and inadequacies of records. At the time of filing the
application, preliminary data determined that Ross s business involved approximately 900
investors and with an aggregate account balance crossing $430 million. The business was 2 years
in arrear with regard to lodging its tax returns and preliminary investigation showed

Sacred Rituals In Judaism, Santeria, And Christianity
Religion manifests itself everywhere around the world. Although all beings are different we come
together as one transcendence being the host. Sacred rituals are performed, honoring beliefs in
accordance to ones religion. Rituals are performed for a wide array of reasons, some being a sort of
rite of passage, healing the sick and even birth or death rituals. Judaism, Santeria, and Christianity
all have ceremonies and rituals, some carried out as different as night and day, and some for the
same purposes. These religions in depth have more in common than the eye can see, devotion,
transcendence and worship to a higher absolute power. All participating in Sacred Ritual. Beginning

Hannukah has much history behind it, since back in time it has represented the rededication of
the holy temple in Jerusalem following the Jewish victory over the Syrian Greeks in 165 B.C.E.
(The Origin of Hannukah) It begins on the 25th day of Kinslev on the Hebrew calendar according
to Judaism 101. This ritual is also referred to as The Festival of Lights. Each night of the
celebration, a candle is lighted on the Menorah, after the sun setsand sacred blessing are recited.
The Menorah holds up to nine candles, the ninth one is used to light the other eight earning the
name helper. The story of Hanukkah does not appear in the Torah because the events that inspired
the holiday occurred after it was written. It is, however, mentioned in the New Testament, in which
Jesus attends a Feast of Dedication. (The Origin of

Japan was better prepared for World War II
After Japanese victories in the First Sino Japanese War, the Russo Japanese War, and World War
I, Japanese experience and confidence in military operations began to soar. As early as 1905,
Japan had identified the United States as their primary threat and began preparations to win a war
against it. Despite Japan s vast combat experience and military buildup prior to the Pacific War,
their prewar preparation was only slightly more robust than the United States and this edge was
eaten away by time for three different reasons. First, Japan began the Pacific War with slight
technological advantages over the United States and believed they could use higher quality
technology to defeat the quantitative numbers of a larger foe. Second, Japan... Show more content

They believed there would be little need for survivability since the maneuverability would
prevent it from being hit in the first place. It also fit perfectly with their problem of scarce raw
materials. This design would require significantly less material to build and furthermore would
use less fuel to power it and extend its range. By the eve of the Pacific War, these aircraft
constituted, as a group, some of the most advanced aviation technology in the world. For speed
and maneuverability, for example, the Zero was matchless; for range and speed few bombers
surpassed the Mitsubishi G3M; and, in the Kawanishi H8K, the Japanese navy had the world s best
flying boat. (Evans and Peattie, p312) As Krepinevich contends in our reading, from 1932 1938 the
United States allowed its combat aircraft inventory size to remain unchanged, however, it still
maintained a variety of platforms. Rather than invest scare resources in maintaining a large
inventory of rapidly obsolescing planes, the service wisely concentrated on keeping up with
technology. (Krepinevich, p14) Technology was changing at such a rate that the

Analysis Of What You Eat Is Your Business By Radley Balko
Today, America is suffering from one of the world s biggest problems that is obesity .The
government is trying to solve obesity by forbidding junk food in school testing restaurant s menu,
and having specific food options for consumers. By the name of the article What You Eat
Is Your Business shows that what we choose to put into our bodies is our responsibility.
Therefore the author Radley Balko argues that it is not the government responsibility, it is each
individual responsibility.
Balko states Instead of manipulating or intervening in the array of food options available to
American consumers, our government ought to be working to foster a sense of responsibility in
and ownership of our own health and well being. But we are doing just ... Show more content on

Balk also points out that if we pay the consequences for our own choices then we would make
better choices for a better healthy lifestyle. He says We ll all make better choices about diet,
exercise, and personal health when someone else isn t paying for the consequences of those
choices (469). As Balko also pointed out if the government is paying for my anti cholesterol
medication, what incentive is there for me to put down the cheeseburger? (467). In this case as
long as we know that our bills is being paid by other then why should we care about what we eat.
From my opinion, Balko states some effective points that I agree with and others I don t.
I do agree that it is the individual responsibility to make a good choice for a healthy lifestyle.
What I disagree with is that Balko says that the government involvement is the wrong way to fight
obesity. I believe if the government bans harmful food choices, it would make it easier

Government Intervention In Canada
Canada has always been there to help people who need it. Justin Trudeau A mixed economy
means that one part of the entire economy is being controlled and run by a certain country s
government, while the other half is left to the free market. Most economies of the countries all
over the world are mixed, and they only differ in terms of intervention by the state. This system
usually begins by authorizing private enterprises to run the majority of businesses before the
government intervenes with specific areas of economics, such as inflation protection and taxes.
Today, Canada and the US have different economic systems that are supposed to show what each
country believes and what they value. Canada, for example, has a mixed economy while US... Show

One reason might be with a mixed economy, it allows private participation which in return allows
a healthy competition and that results in profit. It also contributes to public ownership in
manufacturing which also contributed to welfare needs. This, however, can be viewed as too
much government involvement by not always allowing the consumer to decide what s best by
making the choice for what is needed. Yet the system is able to improve the quality of life for
people who have struggles in wealth. This is what keeps our society going. The system may be a
little strenuous for some people to pay but it is for the better of society. Another argument can be
the amount of control in a mixed system. Viewing the government as adding an excessive amount
of boundaries upon certain laws or regulations may seem restricting, but it is what stops something
like a market economy or any economy from tipping into anarchy. I see the drawbacks of this
mixed system, despite that, the positives of the mixed system outweighs such drawbacks.
Additionally, these drawbacks are forever in place to assure the safety of the public

Essay about Making it in America
Making it in America
In the article Making it in America Adam Davidson takes time to interview different employees at
Standard Motor Products to determine how it is treating them and how factories are changing in
time. Adam is receiving a tour of the plant by manager Tony Scalzitti where he sees many factory
workers in blue lab coats, hair nets, and protective eyewear. This is where Adam first runs into
Madelyn Parlier. Madelyn Parlier was a 22 year old woman working in the assembly line at the
factory. Her occupation was seemed to be an unskilled job and didn t require much education or
experience. It was all about quickness and effectiveness for Madelyn and that was something she
was great at. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adam tracks down the owners of Standard and finds out they are based out of Long Island City,
Queens. There Adam discovers the history of the company and how a man named Elias Fife a
Jewish immigrant first set up the company. Through time other similar competitors had to sell or
close and Standard stuck out through the times and had to sell its main building in NY to other
locations to cut on costs. The company almost went bankrupt in the 1990s but managed to stay
afloat and is now one of the biggest aftermarket manufacturing companies in the world. Adam
sits in a meeting with two engineers from the company John Gasiewski and Marty Doelger.
They where going over a new crankshaft sensor and figuring out if it would be a benefit for the
company to start to produce them. They in turn said it was very cost effective to start to produce
them because they weren t as finely shaped as the fuel injectors and could be produced at on of
the offshore factories. Although this benefits the company it also takes jobs away from America
and moves them offshore. Overall Adam discovered how much job opportunities in factories have
been declining over the last couple of years. Whether it be to new machinery coming in to do
someone s job or bringing the work offshore so Americans don t have the opportunity to work.
Something is going to have to change or at some point it will all be machinery running the factories.

Criticism Of Karl Marx s Ideas Of Capitalism
Bertrand Russell once expressed that advocates of capitalism are very apt to appeal to the sacred
principles of liberty, which are embodied in one maxim: The fortunate must not be restrained in the
exercise of tyranny over the unfortunate (Russell). Even in a relatively capitalist society, there are
always criticism regarding the capitalismand its disregard for the unfortunate and the tyranny the
fortunate exert over. The foremost proponent of this antagonism would be Karl Marx, who claimed
that capitalism is ultimately hurtling toward its downfall.
The basic premise of the capitalism that Marx denied was as thus: in the modern industrialisation
inevitably creates a bipartisan system, in which the bourgeoisie, or those who are the ... Show more

This, in turn, would create a dissention from the proletariat and lead to an uprising. Marx actually
predicted that the first ones to have revolution would be the more industrialised countries.
Marx never addressed the actual capitalism we face today in his Das Kapital. Instead, he
proposed a setting of ideal capitalism, in which there are no monopolies, no unions, no special
advantages for anyone. It is a world in which every commodity sells at exactly its proper price.
And that proper price is its value (Heilbroner). The value is defined as the amount of labour it
took to create that certain merchandise. This obviously has a flaw, as if products were traded at
its true value there would be no margin of profit. The margin is produced via the discrepancy of
the labour value and the value of the actual labour performed; that is, if a labourer needs six
hours of labour to survive at the rate of one pound a day, the labourer would actually work for
eight hours while being paid for only six hours. This is because a labourer can only ask for what
is due by his subsistence; he can only ask for six pounds a day, because that is all he needs to
survive. The capitalist, by owning the means of production, can force the terms into ten our eleven
hours as opposed to six, while

American Traditions And Qualities Of The United States Essay
For many international students, acclimating to American society can be troublesome and
occasionally disappointing. American traditions and qualities may be altogether different from
those of your nation of origin, and you may discover them befuddling. America s populace reflects
surprising ethnic differences. Non white individuals dwarf whites in a lesser expansive urban area.
Daily papers regularly utilize such terms as Asian American, Italian
American, and Bedouin American to mirror the ingenuity of different ethnic legacies inside the
Unified States. There are individuals whose skin is named white, dark, cocoa, yellow and red.
There are individuals who have numerous years of formal instruction and individuals who have
about none. There are the exceptionally rich and also the extremely poor. There are
Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Communists, Communists, Libertarians, and disciples of
other political perspectives too. There are Legal advisors, agriculturists, handymen, instructors,
social laborers, movement officers and individuals in a great many different occupations. Some live
in urban zones and some in rustic ones. Given this differing qualities, would one be able to
conveniently discuss Americans ? Probably so, given that one is watchful.
Americans don t more often than not see themselves, when they are in the
Assembled States, as delegates of their nation. They consider themselves to be people who are not

Distinguish Between Developed and Developing Countries
Di
3a) What distinguishes a developing country from a developed country (10mks)
ADVICE: All the indicators are examined here with supporting statistics. There won t be time to
include statistics for all the indicators, so you ll include those that you most easily remember).
Countries can be classified as developed or developing according to the value of the gross national
product (GNP) per capita. A developing countrycan be distinguished from a developed country by
examining indicators such as the size of GDP per capita, economic structure, population growth,
population structure, distribution of income, employment, trading position, urbanization,
technology and provision of infrastructure.
Low income and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Developing countries are very reliant on the export of primary produce whereas developed countries
export more capital and consumer goods. Developing countries are vulnerable in their trading
relationships because fluctuations in price can destabilize their economies. Zimbabwe s main
exports are cotton and tobacco while that of the USA includes telecommunications, equipment,
automobiles and medicine.
Urbanisation is another indicator of development. Developed countries already have a high
proportion of the population living in urban areas. The developing countries however still have a
high proportion of the population living in rural areas, but there are rapid rates of rural to urban
migration in those economies. In Zimbabwe 38% of the population live in urban areas and the rate
of urbanization is 3.4%. In the USA however 82% of the population live in the urban areas and the
rate of urbanization is much lower at 1.2%.
They can be distinguished by the provision of infrastructure. Infrastructure includes health
education and housing. The developed countries have better infrastructure than the developed
country. The Human Development Index combines elements of health as measured by life
expectancy, education and income to assess development. Life expectancy in Zimbabwe is 51
years whereas it is 78 years in the USA.
Access to technology also differs between the two. 5% of the world s computers are located in
developing countries.

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Castro Vs Garrido Ariel Castro vs Phillip Garrido What should be the punishment for abductors and rapist? In 2013 you may remember the story called the Cleveland Kidnappings about 3 women found on May 6, 2013 that were abducted between the years of 2002 2004 and raped. The man responsible for that is Ariel Castro. The other man I ll be talking about is Phillip Garrido who abducted a woman named Jaycee Dugard when she was 11 years old. She wasn t found for more than 18 years. The women abducted by Ariel Castro were inspired that, one day they d be found too when they saw the story of Jaycee Dugard being rescued on television. They also had a conversation about his son Ariel Castro Jr being an ex employee at Burger King and that she knew some of his other kids too. When they arrived at his house he told her the puppies were upstairs as she was going upstairs she realized that this was a mistake and she d be there forever because it was too silent. • 3. Female Roles Of Female Mobile Dj Essay Female what? That s right, DJs. Women are beginning to blossom in an industry highly saturated and associated with men, proving they can rise to the occasion. Female mobile DJ s, why aren t there more? I Chose this question because I myself have been wanting to start DJ ing for a while now and when people think of DJ s I assume they only think of males. This questionis a hot topic and also very interesting to me because I will be soon DJ ing and would like to know why men dominate this field. As I started conducting research on this question I started to find answers for my question right away. I also looked up genderdiversity which means how different genders are represented in a relevant setting. Though I am not a DJ yet it seems as if femaleDJ s have felt like it s close to an impossible task in front of them. That despite pumping out great mixes and working as hard as you can, the recognition from booking agents and promoters and the subsequent gigs and success remain elusive. Why? Why do female DJ s get the short end? Why do many female artists fail to break the top 10 lists of any kind? Or why can t some female DJ s build brands that help them to achieve huge DJ ing success? As I stumble across potential answers for my question the only thing that comes to mind is that females don t think they are good enough because of what society says. And not just in DJ ing but, beyond in many other fields. Women consistently underestimate their own talents and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Federal Budget Deficit And National Debt The Federal Budget Deficit and National Debt Basically, what the federal budget deficit is a shortage of funds that are available for the government, where more money is being spent than what the government receives. But, national is where the government borrows money through various ways. The data for national debt and federal budget deficit from the year 2001 2013 is given in the chart above. As we can see in the graph, the deficit is still remains in our economy even though there had been a surplus in 1999 to 2001. But, we could see a lot if decreases such as from the year 2004 2007, 2009 2010 and also from 201 2014, but generally the deficit kept increasing yearly. The data provided is in trillions and a positive value means... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the graph above, for instance, we could say that the budget deficit increased rapidly from 2007 2009 and we could say that the main is due to the Great Recession. The governments act trying to counter attack this effect by improving fiscal policy for the betterment of business cycle lead to more outlay than revenue, which resulted in the increase of the deficit promptly. So, therefore borrowing the money to deal with deficit lead to increase in the national debt. Crowding out occurs when spending by an individual or an organisation or to be more precise, private spending decreases and by increasing the government spending. People sometimes use this as an alternative replacement and lets the government to spend more. This is a very big problem causer because as the government decided to spend more, it leads to higher budget deficit and debt and the overall spending may decline rapidly. So, therefore if they let the government to spend more instead of them it results to the lesser consumption of resources and spending on it. This can lead to decreasing the interest rates which results in less investment by people and major drop in the business sector. In order to shift the economy up from the times and effect of the great recession, government tend to raise the budgets at times, government give more outlays in the form of social security and other fiscal policy techniques. As a result, the government borrows capital to pay for this, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Is there a Correlation between Gender and the Choice of a... Have you ever wondered whether or not there was any correlation between gender and college major? We conducted a survey consisting of 105 people (51 males and 54 females) and of those people, 34.3% (17 males and 19 females) did not think that there was a direct correlation between the two. Our goal was to see if genderdid in fact influence one s choice of major, or if it had no influence at all. After proper surveying and thorough analysis of literature, we found that both female and malestudents generally have college majors concentrated in certain areas and industries. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of these articles are accurate examples as to a potential reason of females having specific college majors. Social norms may have an impact on college major choice for women as well. Women tend to be less motivated by the promise of monetary success and more by their passions. Our survey results supported this social norm because the vast majority of females said that they chose their major because they enjoy that field of study, whereas the vast majority of males said they chose their major to obtain a high salary. Males: Through thorough research and survey analysis we were able to conclude that there tends to be a higher population of male students pursuing Engineering and Business majors compared to all other college majors. Not only is this true at North Carolina State University, but we also found this true for other universities in the US as well. Out of 51 males who completed our survey, roughly 22 percent informed us they were enrolled in some form of Business major, whereas only 8 percent of the females surveyed were enrolled in a business major. • 6. Waiting For Guffman These past two weeks, while the theatre has been relatively calm, I chose three different pieces of media in order to delve further into my theater knowledge. The first of which is Waiting for Guffman , a mockumentary on the beginning of a theater company in Blaine, Missouri. The town s resident director, Corky St. Clair, and the amateur cast of a corny small town musical production go overboard when they hear that Mr. Guffman, representative of the prestigious New York based Oppenheimer Organization, will be in attendance. It is tough to not be your biggest critic, but it is better to leave that job to others. Also, actors should treat auditions like rehearsals, as if you already have the role and are going to rehearsal. Apparently this is a commonly used tactic that many actors use to keep calm in an audition setting. Another tip was that if you risk failure, you can make truthful discoveries about yourself or a character. Failures become the struggles that lead to success; the word, failure, carries more weight than it should, and most failures are actually setbacks. The only time you truly fail is when you quit because you become incapable of success. The final piece of advice that I found helpful was to find other creative outlets. In a field like acting, the majority of the job is going to auditions and waiting. Therefore, it becomes imperative that you find ways to use your creativity, rather than waiting around for someone to give you a part. Writing your own material can showcase yourself well, especially if you do not have representation. It is ok to get a little lost, to ask yourself deep questions, and to not have all the answers. When somebody is not exposed at these ages they usually seek it out for themselves or never do. When they know nothing about religion or care nothing about it they usually disregard morals. He also gives some examples of the tragedy of the commons and the reasons why these problems cannot be overcome. On the other hand, using of the public goods does not make lower the value of the resources whoever uses it. He gives an unusual observations regarding Indian Village which has no clearly defined social domain or institution separate from state authority. The author observed total of forty one villages, and he found out that people in all of the villages share the goods and services very effectively and evenly based on common property rights. The reason why this village could use resources properly is that there are four main institutions; a village council, village standing fund, village guards, and common irrigators; which have their own common property rights. These institutions also have their own rights to do such as council organize the supply of the public goods, or village guards protect crops from livestock etc. Also, all the services in this village except water distribution are financed from the village standing fund. As a result, since these institutions have their own common property rights, they cannot help but have responsibility to protect village properly. Also, this well made common property rights of the village could protect total tragedy of the commons as a result. Furthermore, the author gives another example about grazing in a village. • 12. Icarus Metamorphosis Oscar Wilde, in his quote that praises Icarus fearless flight, takes an opposing view to the lesson learned from reading the Greek myth of Icarus and Daedalus. In the myth, Icarus hubris, or extreme arrogance, in defying the Gods and ignoring his father s instructions about flying too close to the sun, is punished by his wings melting and falling to his death. The theme is that one should respect rules and their elders and live within their limits. However, Oscar Wilde put a different spin on the lesson to be learned from Icarusadventure and tragedy. Wilde poetically said that Icarus success was his fearless flight and that if he didn t take the risk of flying too close to the burning light of the sun, then that would be the greatest tragedy of them all. He believes that the adventures and risks we take in life are what make life worth living, and that a life lived that does not experience the thrills of risk, adventure, and possibly success, even for just a moment, is a life not well lived. In a sense, Wilde believes that hubris is needed to do amazing things. The Confederate Flag Is A Symbol Of Southern Pride Another avenue of views about the controversy that the Confederate flag fuels racism or gives our impressionable young men and women an avenue to racism tendencies comes from our political parties and the platforms that they adopt. Democrat and Republican Party do have different views of this controversy. As in every issue there will always be conflicting numbers that make no sense, but it seems that the Democratic Party view of the controversy had the biggest swing in recent months. In gallop polls of the 1990s Democrats were solidly behind the Confederate flag as a symbol of Southern pride and remembering the historical value of the Confederate flag as roughly 60% of Democrats during this period had that opinion. Since the recent controversy began that number has went down to the latest poll taken in July of 2015 that showed that on 70% of Democrats now believe that the Confederate flag represents racism. With the recent debate and pictures of a young white male who killed 9 black church goers draped in a Confederate flag may surely have boosted numbers it still is a large growing concern in the Democratic Party that their thinking could have been wrong in past years. The Republican Party through the same time frame have steadied their view and not changed much over the years. • 15. Steroid Hormones Research Paper Hormones are compounds produced by the endocrine system that chemically regulate specific body functions. Steroid hormones have a biochemical unique 4 ring structure, including three 6 carbon rings and one 5 carbon ring. Androgens are steroids hormones synthesized primarily in the gonads and adrenal glands. Testosterone, the key androgen, affects sexual features and development. It maintains nitrogen balance and facilitates protein synthesis (anabolism). In men, it is made in large amounts by the Leydig cells of the testes and in women, by the ovaries. The pituitary gland in the brain secretes hormones called luteinizing hormones (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) which regulate the number of Leydig cells in the testes. Also, LH controls how much testosterone the Leydig cells produce by regulating the expression of 17 b hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase. Since this enzyme mediates the rate limiting step of testosterone synthesis, its inhibition can stop the synthesis of. Males synthesize 2.5 to 11mg of Testosterone a day while females produce about 0.25 mg daily. • 17. Reflection For My Personal Assignment My theme for my second final piece follows on from my last theme of colour. This piece also expresses personality through the use of colour, however, I moved away from using colour to form the portraits and decided to make the background of my final piece to focus on colour and pattern. I want to create a sense of how my personality is like just by the sight of my drawing and background. Originally, my idea began with the thought of creating two different pieces. The message I wanted to convey with this was to show the growth of my personality from then till now. The first piece idea consisted of a portrait drawing of me as a young child while the background the background would be either patterns or random painting techniques. The pattern determined how my personality was like as a young child (for example, a structured background with repeated pattern shows a confident and determined personality while random mark makings reflect a creative or angry personality). I wanted this drawing to have smooth pencil strokes to create a pure and soft look to represent my young age. For my second drawing of me in my represent state, I wanted the pencil strokes (used to create the drawing) more rough such as cross hatching strokes technique. The cross hatches will be a representation of me being more confident in myself as well as how the idea of who I am has developed to this age.The background for the first drawing applies to the second one also. During the process of my research, I decided to focus on creating one final piece. The final piece would be my idea of using drawing myself from a young age that I was and then doing a background pattern following the design idea I previously mentioned. Throughout this second part of this project, I researched on mark making drawing techniques from artists such as Rembrandt and Da Vinci. Rembrandt s marks of his drawing overlap each other many times. Rembrandt focus on using his marks to create form and tones, while Da Vinci s mark makings are more structured and technical due to his engineering experience. Davinci s marks mainly arranged in a diagonal order. In addition to mark making, I researched on drawing techniques used to drawing children with. From that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Until the early 1990s practically all education and care of children were carried out by the religious orders in Ireland. The government therefore had little need for policies or legislation surrounding education and care. Ireland established its education system in 1831 while under English rule. This led to most special schools and classes providing a modified curriculum for their students. The Department of Education developed Curriculum Guidelines for Schools for the Moderately Handicapped. One important principle of these guidelines was that children have needs as children that have to be satisfied at school as well as their needs as future adults. The notion of integration began to appear in the mid eighties with the idea that special classes could be part of mainstream schools and also from parents who were not availing of special education. In a report on the training and education of severely and profound mentally handicapped children in Ireland 1983 it was recognized that these children should also be entitled to education. Teachers were to be trained to educate such children in special classes within mainstream education. By 1993 over 2000 pupils were being educated in such a way. In 1993 the report of the Special Education Review Committee (SERC) was published. This report dealt comprehensively with the educational implications of special needs. It provided a definition of special needs which included those with severe and profound difficulties through to those who were exceptionally able and included both physical and mental disabilities. Alteration In Frankenstein Any baker knows that when following a recipe, there are certain ingredients that can be added in decreased or increased quantities, substituted with another ingredient, or excluded as a whole, while still not affecting the overall outcome of the recipe. On the other hand, there are other ingredients that must be measured precisely in order for the recipe to be successful. The aforementioned description holds true for literary works, as well. The success of some pieces relies heavily on a strong plot, while the success of others is found primarily from the quality of characters and setting. To construct a successful Frankensteinstory, one must be sure to include the creation of the monster, the human like qualities embodied by the monster,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In containing this theme, the tale will reveal how destructive these prejudices can be to the individual, group, and society as a whole. These social prejudices were best showcased in Mary Shelley s 1818 novel Frankenstein, in which the Creature was continually judged based upon his physical appearance instead of his emotional and intellectual attributes. Not only was the Creature judged by his father, but by other characters throughout the novel including William, the DeLacey family, and other townsfolk. These prejudices took a heavy toll on the Creature, as seen through his emotional responses and his sporadic actions towards other humans. All in all, these prejudices ended up being harmful not only to the Creature, but to all whom he interacted with due to their effect on him. This theme is so vital to maintaining the Frankenstein story that it seemingly reoccurs in every adaptation that we covered this semester. However, out of all of these adaptations, Philip K. Dick s 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? undoubtedly does the best job at portraying the theme of social prejudices against one particular group. Throughout the novel, the entity of the androids was judged and looked down upon. The prejudices against androids not only affected the androids themselves but affected Rick Deckard as his life s work was terminating these androids, Iran as she didn t enjoy Deckard s profession, John ... • 21. Hitler s Foreign Policy During The World War II The official start of the Second World War is most commonly linked with the German invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939. Nevertheless, there are still ongoing disagreements as to whether Adolf Hitler, the leader of Germany at the time, aspired to spark an extensive world war through his actions in Eastern Europe. In the years leading up to September 1939, Hitler s foreign policy had become increasingly dependent on the idea of expansionism. Constructed through Hitler s foreign policy at the time, there are many historians that view the occupation of Poland as nothing more than an extension of the two previous successful Nazi annexations of Austria and Czechoslovakia, with Hitler expecting a coy reaction from the other European countries. Richard Overy and A. J. P. Taylor are among the historians that believe that the outbreak of war ensuing the Polish invasion, was a direct result of the underestimations generated by the German government, who were heavily distracted by continuous issues occurring inside of the Reich. In contrast, some historians including Adam Tooze and Klaus Hildebrand, view the invasion of Poland as much more than just a trial of expansion. These historians believe that the invasion was a conscious attempt to draw Europe into a conflict that would catapult Germany to the top of the European powers by increasing their influence and status throughout the world. These historians acknowledge that Germany had prominent racial motivations at the time that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Globalization has several different areas including the globalization of markets and of production. The Globalization of markets is the blending of different markets from different nations into one large global marketplace. Cross border trading has made it easier to sell internationally. Companies can sell standardized products efficiently and effectively all over the world thus helping to build a global marketplace. The globalization of production refers to the sourcing of goods and services from locations around the globe to take advantage of national differences in the cost and quality of factors of production (such as labor, energy,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many major drivers for globalization. There are two factors that seem to drive the trend toward greater globalization. The first factor is the decline in international trade barriers that has occurred since the end of World War II. Once the barriers were removed then international trade had a chance to grow and change the economy to a more global one. Tariffs were fees charged on top off the cost of imported goods. The hope was to deter people from choosing the imports, instead choosing the domestic goods. Once the tariffs were stopped, many more people were able to buy and sell imported goods. The second factor is the numerous technological advancements in recent years pertaining to communication, information processing, and transportation technologies. The development of the microprocessor was a huge step forward in computing technology. The microprocessor allowed growth of high powered, low cost computers that could handle much more information than ever before. This enabled countries to grow their education and manufacturing capabilities greatly in order to compete in a global market place. Lastly, containerization has forever changed the transportation business by lowering the costs of shipping goods over long distances. Before containerization, it cost time, money, and labor when shipping items over many miles. In the 1970s and 1980s, once containerization took charge, then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I used our domes planned diameter of 7 inches and compared it to that of the real Pantheon dome diameter to find a ratio. We were able to use this ratio to scale the sizes of our model. Next, we used a compass to sketch a circle with a radius of 3.625 inches into a Maple Log and then proceeded to cut it out using a bandsaw. Due to the fact that the shape was not a perfectly cut, we used a lathe a machine designed to shape woodor other materials by rotating the piece being worked on and using changeable cutting tools to make it into an exact cylinder. We did the same process for the dome; however, there were slight differences. The dome was made out of a Red Cedar Log and had a radius of 7 inches. Also it was shaped like a dome rather than a cylinder and only had a height of 1 and 3/4 inches. In addition, while we were creating its dome shape on the lathe, we made indents (rings) in the side to make it look similar to the real Pantheon s dome. After that, we made the front portion which consists of a rectangular prism that sits flush against the cylindrical part of the pantheon, a triangular prism, and columns. • 26. The Scientific Reasoning Behind Seatbelts Motion is how everything in the universe moves, movement of the solar system never stops and is constantly moving but at a very slow speed. There are three laws in motion that explain movement, they are the Newton s three laws of motion named after Isaac Newton. The Newton s first law states that an object that is a rest will stay at rest unless an outside force is acted upon it and an object that is in motion will stay in motion unless an outside force is acted upon it. This is also called as inertia , which means the property of an object to restrict its motion. Examples of inertia would be when a car is driving at a constant speed and instantly stops the person will fall forward if there is no seatbelt. The seatbelt is a safety device that is commonly found on car seats and aircraft seats, it is made from strong durable materials such as fabric, nylon or polyester. Cars that are manufactured are required to have seatbelts due to road safety laws. The law was introduced in the 1970s, it was shown that having seatbelts reduced the amount of road deaths. The seatbelt was invented by George Cayley in the 1800 s, the seatbelt appeared on planes in the 1900 s but was later developed to a three point seatbelt by Nils Bohlin. The purpose of seatbelts is to save lives during a sudden stop of movement. The seatbelt was designed to restrain the person from forward motion that may occur in a collision or a sudden stop. The tone of the song was to persuade and inspire Bilbo to agree to go. For example the dwarves sand, Far over the Misty Mountainscold. This line was repeated multiple times in the song and caused Bilbo s Tookish side to want to see the great mountains and go on an adventure. The poem s content consisted of explaining the reasons to go on the adventure. They sung, To win our harps and gold from him. This explains that they must return to their ancestors land to win back the riches that were taken by Smaug. Examples Of Hermeneutical Injustice In this paper, I would like to argue that people with medical condition the is still misunderstood and largely undiagnosed does experience hermeneutical injustice, rather than a mere circumstantial epistemic bad luck as categorized by Miranda Fricker (2007). The argument provided by Fricker for differentiating hermeneutical injustice and circumstantial epistemic bad luck is invalid most of the time. This is because those patients continually experience unequal hermeneutical participation and background social conditions that maintained the relevant hermeneutical gap. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if questions about his feelings were being asked, questions that are opposing to the doctor s judgements are barely asked. Patients are usually hermeneutically marginalized in a way that their views are often being excluded from epistemic consideration. This may be attributed by the difference in social position of doctors and patients. Doctors usually hold greater social power than patients due to their profession. The power can be exercised unconsciously to marginalize the hermeneutical participation of the relatively powerless patient groups. In the case of diseases that are highly infectious and fatal, the usual response is avoiding contact with those patients instead of searching and learning more information about that disease. Hence, the medical condition remains misunderstood. Salient negative resources are more likely to be left in the hermeneutical pool because those are the ones which are noticeable to the dominant group. True resources that captures the patients medical situation and experience can be ignored. Hence, there is a prejudicial exclusion from the pooling of knowledge, which is the primary harm of hermeneutical injustice identified by Fricker. Consider the following case: there is a disease that has similar symptoms as being physically abused, in which bruises and bone fracture are the common and frequent symptom. Patients with such disease visited several large hospitals, but all medical staffs conclude that the patient has been physically abused and refuse to agree that they are symptoms of a disease or investigate further. The Ugly Truth About Mainstreaming Classrooms The Ugly Truth About Mainstreaming Classrooms Gabrielle Wooten Towson University Abstract Full inclusion classrooms hinder the disabled students abilities by making the students feel isolated, causing lower grades, and lacking the proper help the students need to succeed. These disadvantages and the support used proves that the segregated classroom allow the special needs students to focus and the general students to not be distracted as well. With the students undivided attention, the students , in excluded classrooms, grades improve greatly. As more people know about full inclusion, there is more of a chance to keep it out of school systems everywhere. Introduction Full inclusion or mainstreaming classrooms is when special needs students are assimilated into a general classroom setting. He conducted a financial investment service through a number of entities. Investors of the various entities under the business made requests to release their securities to be paid out, which was only realised for some investors. Consequently, the other investors filed complaints with the FMA about the default in payment. Pursuant to complaints from the investors, the FMA moved to file an application under sections 137F and 137G of the Financial Advisers Act 2008. On 2 November 2012, the FMA applied to the High Court in Wellington seeking permission to appoint receivers to manage the business of David Ross and his associated companies. The High Court issued an interim order to freeze the assets of David Ross and the various companies under him as a result of the application. As a result of the serious concern about dysfunction and adequacy of the management of the business , the FMA decided to conduct an investigation of Ross s business and companies. Main concerns put forward included a failure to make decisions, a failure to implement requests from investors for payment and inadequacies of records. At the time of filing the application, preliminary data determined that Ross s business involved approximately 900 investors and with an aggregate account balance crossing $430 million. • 41. Japan was better prepared for World War II After Japanese victories in the First Sino Japanese War, the Russo Japanese War, and World War I, Japanese experience and confidence in military operations began to soar. As early as 1905, Japan had identified the United States as their primary threat and began preparations to win a war against it. Despite Japan s vast combat experience and military buildup prior to the Pacific War, their prewar preparation was only slightly more robust than the United States and this edge was eaten away by time for three different reasons. First, Japan began the Pacific War with slight technological advantages over the United States and believed they could use higher quality technology to defeat the quantitative numbers of a larger foe. Second, Japan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They believed there would be little need for survivability since the maneuverability would prevent it from being hit in the first place. It also fit perfectly with their problem of scarce raw materials. This design would require significantly less material to build and furthermore would use less fuel to power it and extend its range. By the eve of the Pacific War, these aircraft constituted, as a group, some of the most advanced aviation technology in the world. For speed and maneuverability, for example, the Zero was matchless; for range and speed few bombers surpassed the Mitsubishi G3M; and, in the Kawanishi H8K, the Japanese navy had the world s best flying boat. (Evans and Peattie, p312) As Krepinevich contends in our reading, from 1932 1938 the United States allowed its combat aircraft inventory size to remain unchanged, however, it still maintained a variety of platforms. Rather than invest scare resources in maintaining a large inventory of rapidly obsolescing planes, the service wisely concentrated on keeping up with technology. • 43. Government Intervention In Canada Canada has always been there to help people who need it. Justin Trudeau A mixed economy means that one part of the entire economy is being controlled and run by a certain country s government, while the other half is left to the free market. Most economies of the countries all over the world are mixed, and they only differ in terms of intervention by the state. This system usually begins by authorizing private enterprises to run the majority of businesses before the government intervenes with specific areas of economics, such as inflation protection and taxes. Today, Canada and the US have different economic systems that are supposed to show what each country believes and what they value. Canada, for example, has a mixed economy while US... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One reason might be with a mixed economy, it allows private participation which in return allows a healthy competition and that results in profit. It also contributes to public ownership in manufacturing which also contributed to welfare needs. This, however, can be viewed as too much government involvement by not always allowing the consumer to decide what s best by making the choice for what is needed. Yet the system is able to improve the quality of life for people who have struggles in wealth. This is what keeps our society going. The system may be a little strenuous for some people to pay but it is for the better of society. Another argument can be the amount of control in a mixed system. Viewing the government as adding an excessive amount of boundaries upon certain laws or regulations may seem restricting, but it is what stops something like a market economy or any economy from tipping into anarchy. I see the drawbacks of this mixed system, despite that, the positives of the mixed system outweighs such drawbacks. This is where Adam first runs into Madelyn Parlier. Madelyn Parlier was a 22 year old woman working in the assembly line at the factory. There Adam discovers the history of the company and how a man named Elias Fife a Jewish immigrant first set up the company. Through time other similar competitors had to sell or close and Standard stuck out through the times and had to sell its main building in NY to other locations to cut on costs. The company almost went bankrupt in the 1990s but managed to stay afloat and is now one of the biggest aftermarket manufacturing companies in the world. Adam sits in a meeting with two engineers from the company John Gasiewski and Marty Doelger. They where going over a new crankshaft sensor and figuring out if it would be a benefit for the company to start to produce them. They in turn said it was very cost effective to start to produce them because they weren t as finely shaped as the fuel injectors and could be produced at on of the offshore factories. Although this benefits the company it also takes jobs away from America and moves them offshore. Overall Adam discovered how much job opportunities in factories have been declining over the last couple of years. Whether it be to new machinery coming in to do someone s job or bringing the work offshore so Americans don t have the opportunity to work. Something is going to have to change or at some point it will all be machinery running the factories. References Davidson, A. (n.d.). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Criticism Of Karl Marx s Ideas Of Capitalism Bertrand Russell once expressed that advocates of capitalism are very apt to appeal to the sacred principles of liberty, which are embodied in one maxim: The fortunate must not be restrained in the exercise of tyranny over the unfortunate (Russell). Even in a relatively capitalist society, there are always criticism regarding the capitalismand its disregard for the unfortunate and the tyranny the fortunate exert over. The foremost proponent of this antagonism would be Karl Marx, who claimed that capitalism is ultimately hurtling toward its downfall. The basic premise of the capitalism that Marx denied was as thus: in the modern industrialisation inevitably creates a bipartisan system, in which the bourgeoisie, or those who are the ... Marx actually predicted that the first ones to have revolution would be the more industrialised countries. Marx never addressed the actual capitalism we face today in his Das Kapital. Instead, he proposed a setting of ideal capitalism, in which there are no monopolies, no unions, no special advantages for anyone. It is a world in which every commodity sells at exactly its proper price. And that proper price is its value (Heilbroner). The value is defined as the amount of labour it took to create that certain merchandise. This obviously has a flaw, as if products were traded at its true value there would be no margin of profit. The margin is produced via the discrepancy of the labour value and the value of the actual labour performed; that is, if a labourer needs six hours of labour to survive at the rate of one pound a day, the labourer would actually work for eight hours while being paid for only six hours. This is because a labourer can only ask for what is due by his subsistence; he can only ask for six pounds a day, because that is all he needs to survive. The capitalist, by owning the means of production, can force the terms into ten our eleven hours as opposed to six, while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
