This paper presents an innovative transformer-less Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) using cascade multilevel inverters for wind turbine applications, addressing the complexities and bulkiness of conventional transformers. The proposed UPFC enhances power flow control by allowing independent management of real and reactive power while being more efficient, lightweight, and cost-effective. The study highlights various aspects of modulation, control strategies, and potential advantages, emphasizing the need for further analysis on the impact of UPFC settings on power system reliability.
