This document discusses the optimal placement of shunt FACTS devices, specifically SVC and STATCOM, in a series compensated long transmission line to enhance power transfer and system stability. The study highlights that the optimal location of these devices varies with the level of series compensation, and it utilizes MATLAB/Simulink for simulations to validate findings. Additionally, it covers the modeling and operational principles of SVC and STATCOM, providing insights into their dynamic responses and voltage regulation capabilities.
